I had an excellent breakfast at Ogden's! Our waitress was pleasant and helpful. The restaurant itself was really cute too. I appreciated that the two unisex bathrooms were a nice size and separated from the eating area by a half-wall. In the interest of transparency, I didn't love my entree (spinach and feta omelette--my hashbrowns were a bit too salty and I didn't love the taste of the spinach) but everything else we got was lovely. It set up expectations for a moderately underwhelming experience. You expect to be blown away, but it was hit and miss. French toast was very good. Not sure what kind of bread but it was square and sweet. Came buttered with Wisconsin maple syrup. French toast sandwich, however, made me ill. Two slices of French toast, with egg, ham, and cheese inside. The combo of sweet and salty made me nauseous. I couldn't finish it. Tofu scrambles, just ok. Chorizo scramble, better than average but looked burnt. Highlight was the hot chocolate. Flaked Ghirardelli chocolate, topped with house whipped heavy cream chilled and served with an ice cream scooper. Dense and sweet, it did not melt. Cherry pie was good too. Nice crust in a ramekin with a scoop of the whipped cream. Tip: order it first and get it before they run out. read more

Only giving 3 stars because the restaurant set up is not kid (stroller/high chair) or handicap (wheelchair/walker) friendly, and the tables are around a foot or two apart from one another. This may exclude certain people from being able to properly sit down at a table as well. The person having to sit on the wooden bench side of the table for the duration of your meal is going to be uncomfortable. If the set up was improved, this could be a 5/5! read more

It was crowded and small, but as a solo I got seated immediately at the bar (on a friday a little before noon) and my food only took about 10 minutes to come out. I'm not really someone that usually likes breakfast food, but this is just about as good as it gets. Very very solid food, highly recommend to anyone who loves breakfasts! read more

Well...was excited to be here for the first time. Knew that the wait would be long so came ahead of my fam. 30-40 minutes on a Sunday. Checked in at 12:02. The wait list is handwritten by the server. And now it's 1:03. The gal accidentally skipped us. The other threesome got it before me because she went in and bugged the server. If anything, that's my tip. Was food is worth it? Best for twosome. Most tables are for two. There are four seats at the bar. I think it's first come first served so do that. I saw a couple walk in and took the seats before another couple waiting awhile on the list. Bring your coat, in case, for extra looooong wait. Enjoy the flowers through the cracks. It's like a15-20 minute ride from the university so coming here is extra. Bring your patience. You can always opt to go across the street if they're open. The cafe and pastry place close early on Sundays. The server was nice. Simply amazing food!! We came no knowing what to expect and were blown away. I ordered blueberry pancakes and bacon, husband got tuna melt and daughter got grilled cheese. this is my favorite place for breakfast food in madison. every time i go, their food is TOP TIER. the service is also great. i also love the spacious bathroom, and the paint color inside. i recommend their blueberry pancakes. they have good coffee, too, and plenty of refills. i always look at their specials board and order their omelettes. they just know how to use good ingredients that are in-season and wonderful as a combination. the downside is the wait. their wait times on weekends can get ridiculous. (i once waited for an hour and fifteen. the food is worth it.) so go there on a weekday. for such excellent food, they still charge small business diner-style prices, which i love them even more for. very reasonably priced. never change, Ogden's. read more

Another great spot on the East side of Madison! Nice small diner across from other well established spots and serves up. A good variety of breakfast and lunch foods! Staff are incredibly friendly and throw great suggestions your way depending on your mood. The inside is cozy and a bit tight, so know your own comfort but it's definitely a vibe. The only "down side" (for lack of better words) is nothing really stands out. From trying multiple sandwiches, breakfast items, etc. it was all good, but can't really think of a "omg that was so good" type of item. read more

Ogden's has been my favorite breakfast spot in Madison. Randomly stumbled upon the venue when I went to Cafe Domestique - Northstreet for a coffee on a Saturday morning. Ogden's is a really cozy spot with limited seating. They don't take reservations, so would recommend showing up 30 min early and putting your party down and going across the street to Cafe Domestique to get a coffee. Ogden's prices are very reasonable and worth it for the food in my opinion. Their hashbrowns are so good (I always ask for extra crispy!!). The good service, quality and quantity of food, and price makes this one of my favorite spots for breakfast / brunch. Overall, would recommend! read more

Popped in on a Saturday morning a little before 9am. There was a table for our party of 5, but it was pretty much the last one. It's a cozy restaurant, and not huge. The servers were hopping and I felt seen and taken well care of. Menu is clean and simple and there is a board with daily specials hung on the wall, easy to see from anywhere in the joint. The food was very tasty. The hashbrowns really are as special as others have commented, browned and just the right amount of crisp. I ordered the salad as my side and the ginger dressing helped my salad complement my quiche perfectly. I loved this spot and would come again. The Denver Omelette was (and I can't believe I'm saying this as a native Wisconsinite) a little too cheesy. My partner got the French Toast Sandwich and he loved it. I thought it was delicious as well. The fact that they use full slices of ham rather than cubed or diced ham is a nice touch! I wasn't totally blown away by my experience here. I might return. I might not. But I don't think I would go out of my way to recommend it to anyone. read more

Another great Yelp find! This little diner is awesome! Went here on a Thursday morning for a late breakfast around 11am. They start their lunch menu at 11, but breakfast is served all day (I think they close at 2pm). Walked in to the restaurant and was greeted by a friendly host who took our name and said it would be about 20 mins before a table would be open. She took our cell number and said she'd call as soon as a table opened. My wife and I went for a walk, because there really isn't room to sit and wait in the diner. There is a bar across from the diner if you want a bloody, and a coffee shop and bakery right across the street too. Almost exactly 20 mins later, we got a call saying our table was ready. The restaurant doesn't have a lot of seating. Approximately 6 counter seats and maybe a dozen tables (most only have 2 seats). I would imagine the wait would be even longer if you have a group of four, and I doubt they can handle any bigger group. Once we were seated everything went pretty quick. Our waitress was awesome! So friendly and seemed happy to be helping us. Really liked that she laughed at my dumb comments or "attempt" at humor. She did make an error on our bill... but corrected it as soon as we identified it. I ordered a Ham & Cheese Scramble which came with hash browns and toast along with some great (Im pretty sure) homemade jelly. My wife had eggs and bacon with hash browns. We also ordered a Blueberry Pancake to spilt. Everything was really really good.... Just a great diner breakfast! BUT the Blueberry Pancake was remarkable. Had to fight off my wife to get my share! Ogden's is a gem. It's a small, charming spot in the middle of a neighborhood. It seems like most everyone is a regular (for good reason) and I certainly would be too if we lived in Madison. The interior is bright and nicely decorated in shades of blue. Menu wise, expect updated classics and interesting specials. The mister opted for a braunschweiger sandwich that he really liked and I went with the daily quiche. It's served "popover style" in a flaky crust that would make Paul Hollywood proud - mine was tarragon chicken, bacon and cheese and it was spectacular. What a cute little place! Lots of street parking available nearby. Not a lot of seating available but it's what makes the space very cozy. Great for groups of 2, no more than 4. We were greeted and seated right away. I ordered an ice coffee, one of the special omelette, hash browns and a blueberry pancake. I'm a half savory half sweet kind of breakfast person. The hash browns are soooo good and browned on the outside. I really wanted to try their quiche initially but the owner was out of town on leave. The pancake was light and fluffy with enough blueberries to satisfy my soul. Never felt rushed in the space. I was able to finish conversation and coffee well past eating our food. We put our names in one weekend and enjoyed some time outside. Although we somehow were overlooked on the list, the server was able to adjust quickly once we went to check in. I ordered one of the specials, the quiche of the day, which was egg-cellent :) The quiche was completely encrusted in flaky pastry in a way I have never seen before. She kept up pretty well with the customers and was able to get us seated as quickly as possible. Another waitress showed up a short time later. Ordered one blueberry pancake with meat, tea, a daily special (mushrooms, fontina, green pepper, salami scrambled eggs) and a juice. The food was pretty good.
