My dog was previously misdiagnosed and this vet, Dr. Smith, correctly diagnosed her. It was sad news that he delivered to me. He stayed over an hour after closing time to give my daughter a chance to drive up and say her final good-bye to my sweet girl. It was clear to me that the doctor was as sad as I was and agreed with me that her kidney failure could not be reversed. It was a tough decision to put her down but his warm and compassionate, Christian way made it a beautiful passing instead of tragic.

Shy always panics at the vet and they offered to euthanize her in the car. I was given extra time with her and not rushed. When the time came Shyla left this world on her favorite blanket in my arms while I scratched her ears. She never knew and that means so much to me. I have been through this before and seen vets cold and heartless, forcing a dog to wear a muzzle or rushing without compassion. 4th of July weekend we had to bring our 9 year old Aurora in to see Dr. Kevin as an emergency…read more Turnes out our girl was suffering from Keto Acidosis and Diabetes. Dr Kevin called ahead and got us right into the emergency clinic where Aurora had to spend the weekend. When we picked her up Monday morning we were told that Dr Kevin had called throughout the weekend checking on her. Now mind you we had just met him on Friday when we brought Aurora in. Just having him be that invested in the care of our girl was amazing, instead of just being a paycheck. I don't know anyone else who would do that, and being that we just met him! still just blows my mind! Since then we have been back every two weeks working on getting her insulin dosage right. Dr Kevin has been SO supportive and understanding as we get use to our new normal (living with canine diabetes). When we finally got it right, I swear doc was as happy as us and even so proud of us! We live 100 miles away and we will never go anywhere else for the care of our animals!! We feel extremely blessed to have Dr Kevin in our corner!

I called Suttons Bay Animal Hospital and they scheduled the appointment for the following day. Dr. Kayla Piskorowski was the vet we saw and she was phenomenal. Caroline, our golden, isn't a fan of going to the vet but the way Dr. Piskorowski talked to her and examined her made her think she was just getting loved on and she didn't even realize she was seeing the vet. It was probably one of the vet experiences we've ever had and I would not hesitate to revisit that office again if we were ever in the area.
