I'm gonna start off by saying I've been to a student salon before I've been to Paul Mitchell, and toni & guy. Well, I thought I would give Ogle a try and they completely screwed up my hair! I started off dirty blonde and said I wanted a bleach in town and I wanted my hair to be platinum blonde. I even said there's some highlights in there for some dimension. Well, my hair looks like an orange! When the student asked me how I liked it. I told her straight up my hair is orange and she told me that she liked it but didn't offer any sort of remedy didn't even go to her instructor for guidance. When I was walking out the instructors asked me about my experience, and I said I hated it! I told him that my hair is orange and I showed them the photo I wanted, which is nothing like my hair now. Not only did they not offer to fix it, but they didn't even offer a refund! Well, they better give it to me because if they don't, I will post as many reviews on every single website as it takes for them to get the point! You don't charge someone $79 to destroy their hair and then have them pay even more than that to have it fixed! On top of everything today is the Fourth of July and I have to work tomorrow so my only day off I have to go get this text! They should be paying for it to be fixed! I would never let them touch me again, even if they offered! I want my money back! read more

What a difference almost a year makes. Folks, you need to put Carrie Coward on your radar. When she gets her skills polished in the real world, she's going to be one heck of a stylist. Full disclaimer, I am a friend of Carrie's, and I know she's about to graduate and needed experience and photos for her portfolio, so I told her I'd help her out. I came in yesterday, and the experience I had was completely different than my first visit. Admittedly I was kinda nervous, but after our consultation I felt super at ease. The instructor gave Carrie some tips on a new way to highlight, and it was fun seeing how excited she was to try something new. She did highlights and lowlights and then trimmed my hair. She did an awesome job, and I was super happy with the results. This is a school, so you have to expect that everyone is still learning, but there was more of a professional feel this time. I loved how the instructors helped out, because my friend wants to learn as much as she can, and being a part of that was fun. read more

I went to school here for the esthetics program and it was okay. The curriculum and the benefits are great. Instructors, not so much. I guess if you are trying to go here for school, you'll have to experience it for yourself OR just try another Ogle location. I came back after I graduated as a client and it was worse than I thought. The front desk is the worst. They have cosmetology students working up there and it was horrible. They were rude, had no idea what they were talking about, and very unprofessional. To get your hair done, there are only a select few who are actually worth rebooking. BUT I highly recommend you to call and schedule an appointment ahead of time because the good ones are always booked. If anything, just try another location if you can. read more

I had my first haircut at Ogle on Mockingbird and the whole experience was outstanding! I automatically got the Senior Discount without having to ask. Yes, I do look the part of a senior man. (big grin) All the people were so very courteous and helpful from the moment I walked in until I walked out. I had called ahead to reserve a slot on what appeared to be a busy day. My wait was only 5 minutes after checking in when my student, SHARON, greeted me and took me to her chair. Sharon was knowledgeable, courteous, and skilled. She had excellent, responsive supervision from ASHLEA and TERIN. We never had to wait for a supervisor when SHARON needed their approval for the next step. When I had a concern, each lady knew what to do and relieved my concern very effectively. I am delighted with my haircut and their service! SHARON, ASHLEA, and TERIN all deserve the highest compliments. Great work, Ladies! My whole experience was so outstanding, I also made a special effort to compliment the manager, NATASHA CHANDLER. It's not every day someone comes up to you randomly at Pot Belly's & says she'd like to play with your hair cas it's "long and pretty." I was offered a card that offered 50% off services. Sure, why not. Like everyone else this is a school. Making an appointment over the phone was easy, I was greeted right as I walked in. Checking in was a breeze. Natasha was my stylist, who is such a pleasure! My initial service I came in for was a burgundy all over color. Nothing fancy, nothing special. I did have to pay a little extra since my hair is pretty long & thick. She did every inch of my roots tho & it shown in the sun PERFECTLY. Unfortunately the pics I have I don't look cute so we'll skip that lol Came in a few days ago for 2 simple Dutch braids! I was getting compliments from people at work at how nicely & even they were done. I requested Natasha for these, I'm glad I did. I'm not tender headed in any way but at no point did the braiding hurt. Sadly, I'll be returning to California in a few days. The good part? I am a real student @ogle school Dallas 54 my student ID # is 1901309759 government name is Kitty Fowobaje I go by Khadijah I have had a bitter sweet experience with Ogle. The facility is a disaster. Mold smells in the classroom and the Spa triggered my allergies daily to the point that I would be sneezing and wiping my eyes all day long. The students can back me up on this. Leaking water in the window seal (in the spa) when it rain and water coming through the floors and we have to use towels on the floor to keep the water out (in the SPA ROOM). The class room space is a joke. The playroom at McDonald's is bigger. WE'RE SITTING ON TOP OF EACH OTHER. The tables are the half tables that you get from Sams to put demo products on, with over size rolling chairs. We are literally bumping butts all day long trying to squeeze by each other. There is 7 spa beds and 4 wax beds to 30 plus students per class. We are expected to bring Ogle 3 guest a week PER student, you do the math! This always leads to cat fights over the beds with the student plus we are double booked. This school is not about education, it's about head count to make them money. A spa treatment takes an hour per person unless we are rushed cutting the client time short. Let me not forget they added 4 new barber chairs on the cosmetic floors (calling them recliners) next to the storage lockers. Who wants to do a  facial with a stainless steel bowl full of cold water and no steam on the open cosmetic floor while inhaling chemicals? What a spa experience! Highest caliber right?The facial machines stay broken. We swap them out on each client hoping they didn't noticed we skipped their steam service. The wax is so cheap and has broken students out on their back and legs. The eye lash extensions are cheap barbie plastic lashes they itch and fall off in a day or two so don't waste your money or time. Lets just skip over the make-up kit they sold us for 1500.00 and offered us to buy the extra kits that nobody wanted for discounted price of 500.00. It gets better. If you actually get to make it to the back in the spa for your facial just watch out for the dirty hospital curtains that was made in the 40's because they are filthy. If you're just not luck enough to go behind dirty filthy curtain on bed # 1,2,3, or 4. you get to lay on a spa bed in the opening to receive your service, in a worn out terry cloth towel that haven't been replaced since ogle 54 opened its doors, next to another client with no privacy at all. Example: If you are getting a bacial (back facial)your boobs are exposed to the client (man/woman) next to you while he/she receiving his/her service. That's what we call a "free peek"show. So please have your student to fight for you a dirty filthy curtain on bed 1-4 so you can have some privacy instead. Ogle is not functioning at its highest caliber, this is the lowest caliber for privacy. The student to teacher ratio would never be accepted by any government funded school, especially in the tiny spaces they squeeze us in. Someone need to check the square foot per student and it defiantly wouldn't add up. These teachers are fighting a losing battle. When complaints fall on them its really not their fault. They was sent in the forest with a pitch fork. They was expected to put out a forest fires with a 8oz bottle of water. The tools Ogle give them are from preschool. Bare minimum. A School averaging at the least 14,000.00 per student and over 90 new starts per semester. SAD SAD SAD SAD. SHAME ON YOU OGLE!!! I could never refer a student nor my enemy here. To refer is to voucher for something you like. I swear I crawled out of this school on my hands and knees kicking and fighting with these people changing rules every 2 hours. Every week its meeting and a new rule that is not in our contract. I started school feeling like Gucci and leaving this school feeling like WRANGLERS.Thank you OGLE for a tough experience. You have taught me how to not treat my staff, my spa, pay attention to complaints instead of hiding them and last but not least don't just chant about the highest caliber, hold myself to it. If everyone is saying this facility needs work please believe it and work on it before it turns into a real life lawsuit. Book an appointment at Paul Mitchell in Carrollton and see what a REAL school and spa set up in your own private room with a guest waiting room with lockers for the client looks like. I had a very nice student lady (Daniela) who was kind enough to ask me what I wanted for my haircut. She was lovely. The instructor came over and chopped the hell out of my hair (5 inches in addition to the 1 inch we discussed) I felt as if she did it because she was "having a bad day" or whatever. It was a real slap in the face to the sweet student. The instructor is someone to never emulate. I wanted to vomit when I saw how bad it was. After surgery and medication it took me over 18 months to grow my hair back to normal thickness. Now this...All I can say is "Karma is a beotch so I hope the instructor gets her due" read more

Got a facial plus extractions by Kenia. She was super professional and very sweet! She made my whole experience extremely comfortable and soothing. I'm someone who has very sensitive skin and suffers from breakouts, so a lot of products will irritate my skin. Luckily with her I did not have this issue; she was very careful with the products she used on my face. She knew exactly what my face needed. By the time she was finished, my skin felt smoother than ever and my face was glowinggggg! I will definitely be back, and highly recommend anyone looking for a relaxing experience. I just spoke with a recruiter Kita who was very unprofessional. After talking with her almost an hour even though she said the interview would be 45 minutes- she got mad because I said I had to go to work. She told me clearly I didnt have time for the program if I couldn't finish the initial interview process. Then she was very intrusive about how I would pay for my schooling. First of all I haven't even decided if I like your school or not. If this is representation for Ogle then people are definitely getting turned around at the gate. Kita wasn't even professional enough to come on camera and was very rude. I will not be attending here! read more

Oook.... this is two-sided. I'm wavering between two and a three stars. Like Francesca said, this is a school, so if you come here you have to KNOW that there's a risk, so given that there's a risk, you shouldn't be surprised that your appointment isn't perfect. Everyone I met was super nice and they were really trying to please. It is super cheap, so you sort of get what you're paying for. It's sort of an.... entertaining adventure... or something. That said, OMG my appointment was manic. I came on Valentines Day and was shocked by just how insane the place was. It is a huge room JAM-PACKED with stylists and clients all rushing around - it felt like the salon equivalent of telephone call-in center during a phone-a-thon. On top of that, half the stylists had received HUGE bouquets of flowers that were crowding into their tiny cutting stations. The people came in all shapes and sizes, and the stylists of course are artists and their outfits and hairstyles and personas made for some great people watching... but not exactly a high confidence level. I did have to wait, and then was helped by a girl that looked like she was 18 (but is actually more like 24). Their hot water was broken, so every stylist was going to a totally separate department of the school to fill up buckets of hot water to dipper-was our hair (!!!). The stylist tried to tell me this was an unusual situation, but that had to be a lie because I heard several other students talk about how often it had been going off, and exclaim that the worst was the day they'd run out of clean towels and had to dry off hair with paper towels (!!!). The teacher came by right as my stylist was beginning the cut, and said, "Are you going to try the cut I taught you last week?" And she said yes. LAST WEEK? It did not inspire confidence. My cut was... ok. Not a disaster, not exactly what I wanted... and it took forever. I don't think I'll go back for a cut... but I might go back to get my nails done. read more

Its only somewhat true that "you really don't learn anything until you get into a salon". i wouldn't recommend this place at all. too many students, not enough teachers, and the ones they have aren't up to date on their education... sometimes we knew more than they did! plus they really just want the money from the government, they let ANYONE in. read more

A co-worker and I decided to give this place a shot during an extended lunch break last friday. I knew going in that this wasn't going to be particularly top of the line but I figured that they can't really mess up a mani too bad right? Well, my coworker got the girl that loved doing nails, and I ended up getting the girl who wanted to do hair and had only been doing this for three months. To be honest, my girl was super sweet but she was so insecure with her work that many times I wants to grab the equipment and do the mani myself. She started by removing my nail polish (navy blue) but she was so insecure doing it that it took forever and my fingers ended up looking smurf-ish because she didn't remove the polish properly. Next, when she started filing my nails, she used the file as a saw scraping it back and forth making the nails ragged instead of filling in one direction. I could go on, but like others mentioned, I wasnt expecting top of the line and at $7 I wasn't expecting too much. At least I got a hand massage and a new coat of nail polish out of it! If you do decide to give this place a shot, definitely make an appointment and prepare to people watch when you come. Since the students are learning they will definitely take longer than necessary so make sure you allocate plenty of time for that as well. It was an OK experience but I probably wouldn't plan on going back since I can do much better myself. read more

Changed it to 2 stars because my third visit was horrible. No one has time to stay there 6 hours. Not because it takes 6 hours, it took 2 extra hours because of carelessness. The guy was nice but it looks like my natural hair color, nothing like what I wanted. And I still have blonde on my side burns and that's horrible. I won't bother to come back to fix it either. I know they are good for certain things, but I learned, you get what you pay for today. I basically bleached my hair to try to make it lighter, to then turn my hair darker than what it was. What's the purpose of damaging my hair then?! read more

I went in today to have a specialty style done The Stylist that did my hair was told by her instruction not to put a lot of product on it she went ahead and did that anyways and the ending result was my hair is so oily and greasy that now I have to go home and wash it and go somewhere else and have them flat iron it for me because I have a very important that in the morning and I call up there and I talked to one of the managers is she says she's sorry and I also tell her that my stylist didn't ask me how I wanted my hair done how I wanted my part she just flat iron my hair straight and I understand their students but it's little things like that but I will not be going back and it's a shame cuz I've gone there for over 7 years read more

I want to start off saying I thank everyone who helped me out with finishing my esthetics program . Overall my experience at Ogle was not the best . I had so many problems with student services bad attitudes when they are supposed to be the most helpful at the school. Administrators will literally call you 1000000 times to get you to raggedy school . Some of the students caught Covid couple weeks back and the cleaning lady quit. Literally everyone kept getting sick back to back there was not sanitation people coming in to disinfect. There's literally only 2 restrooms with 2 stalls each always full and filthy . The cleaning lady doesn't even clean anything but the trash cans .There is no curtains in the spa or the wax room and my clients and some of the other students clients felt uncomfortable and stopped coming because there is no privacy . We are always out of supplies that we need since the new spa manager Randell. Some of the teachers are always starting drama at the school. read more

I'm totally wavering between 2 and 3 stars because I have never been to a school before to have any services completed. On my way home from a stressful day last night a girlfriend called and asked if I wanted to go get a mani/pedi with her. Seeing as I am broke as hell right now, my instant response was no. However, when she told me that the total cost would be $16 I was in! We arrive about 5 minutes early for our 6pm appointment and proceeded to wait, and wait, and wait. I was taken back around 6:20, and my friend about 10minutes later. We are escorted to the back of the salon where they have you sit in a plastic lawn chair at a little rolling desk. After all that time waiting, you would have thought that they would have all their supplies ready. NOPE. The girl spent about another 15minutes repeatedly getting up to get more things like nail polish remover, q-tips, etc... ??? Finally, she tells me its time to soak my piggies... and she points to one of those plug in pedicure baths that you can buy at Target sitting under the rolling table. The water was totally overfilled, and I felt bad that it spilled all over the place when I put my feet in. No worries, no one cared nor bothered to clean it up off the slick floors. On top of that, the water was just barely warm and became pretty cold within a few minutes. I ended up taking my feet out pretty early cause it was soooo cold, and I was also grossed out that I hadn't witnessed anyone clean it beforehand. When they work on your nails, you have to awkwardly lift your leg up under the table and basically put it in the crotch of the person working on you. STRANGE! I kept hitting my knees on the bottom of the table. What to expect from your pedicure: - Foot soak in cold water - No nail trimming/filing - No cuticle trimming, they just jammed them back with a little wooden stick. - No scrubbing your feet with pumice, or anything for that matter - A short foot rub with some lotion (although my girlfriend did not get this) - A polish job While working on my pedicure, I reminded the girl that I was supposed to be getting a manicure as well. She informed me that this was not listed on my appointment. I begged to differ. So she got up and went and got more materials to work with. She has me soak my fingers in some solution while working on my feet, which means that I am hunched over the table in a really awkward position. I had to move back in the chair at one point because my back hurt so badly. Although she was friendly enough during the experience, I was the one having to initiate all of the conversation. I understand that if you are a student you are nervous, but your just painting my nails! What to expect from your manicure: - Hand soak in some cold solution - No nail trimming/filing - Again no cuticle trimming, just jammed them back with the wooden stick... which really hurt - A short hand massage - A really crappy polish job. The following morning I noticed that the polish on my fingers had already started chipping pretty badly. When I started picking at it, I was shocked at how easily ALL of the polish peeled off my finger. I was literally able to remove all of the polish by hand in about 5minutes. I am sorry, but while you do get what you pay for... this SHOULD NOT be advertised as a manicure or a pedicure. It was basically a glorified polish job that took almost 1.5hours to complete. All total we were there for just about 2hours! The salon itself is also a little sketchy. There were far more students than instructors, and no one ever came to check on us... not even when she was finished with me. When I asked my "stylist" if they got a portion of the proceeds when they have clients she said no, they just work for tips. She said the money is not put toward their tuition either. In fact, she had no idea what the money went to because she said that the supplies are purchased out of their tuition money. I felt bad and ended up leaving her a $5 tip since she used up 2 hours working on me. All in all... I will never come here for another service. I could do my own mani/pedi for less money, less time, and better results. Save your time and go somewhere full priced... its TOTALLY worth it. read more

Went in today for a haircut and the student that cut my hair did a really good job on it she cut it just the way that I wanted it to be cut. The only thing that was a little problem was that it took about 2. hours for them to cut it. I like that you don't have to make a appointment but there is a little bit of a wait if you don't. I was referred here by a friend to get my very first facial in life here and I'm so happy I did get to check this out. I was referred to a lady getting her license named Janaye Easter and she was great. She knew her stuff and made me super comfortable. The entire time of the facial she talked to me about what she was going to do so I wasn't surprised and at the end my face was glowing. Got a manicure & pedicure there - $8 for each. Here's what to expect so you won't get upset: - Though you arrive on time for your appt, you may wait up to 30 minutes like I did waiting for the student to come get me. And, I was the first appt of the day, so i don't know what took so long. - There is a flurry of students; they all look very busy, and they'll all just ignore you; even the girls at the front desk may not acknowledge you right away; be kind, just start talking to them; they're learning, too. - Student will take you to a crappy little desk, get out his/her own personal mani/pedi kit, put your hands on totally stained but sanitary towel, and get to work. You get a soak, a little massage, cuticles cut on the hands, and then a fresh coat of paint. - Don't expect them to have the right nail color for you; students typically purchase their own selection of colors so it's not very broad; bring your own nail color if you want the perfect color - Manicure or pedicure will take approx. 1 hr. - 1.5 hrs. - If you want a french manicure, ask ahead of time when you book the appointment. - There are no pedicure chairs there like you see at real salons. The student dipped my feet into the soaker on the floor, then cradled my foot up on her lap to do the nail trim and painting. Kinda weird, but she was real sweet and funny so it took the weirdness off of it. - The whole process reminded me of what it would be like if I asked my little 13 year old sister to paint my nails. She would be really happy to do it, she may even have her own kit, but it will take forever trying to do it and she may mess up a little. - But, you'll leave with a smile 'cause it was so darn cheap and you provided a student with real life on-the-job training. Pat yourself on the back. For hair? Haven't done that yet. I still pay big money to get my hair done. I'd be scared getting it done at any school, but if you follow my guidelines for the mani/pedi then hopefully you won't leave in tears and you'll know that the sweet students are there because they genuinely want to learn. read more

The student that did my facial had no idea what she doing, and acted cold toward me the entire time, I do not mind not talking to me, but what really got me when they try to charge me for a service I did not receive and to top it off they left mask residue all over my neck and behind my ear.Stay far away from this location. read more

This school has great products (Redken, etc) and has unbelievable prices. Usually I just get my hair washed, deep conditioned, and styled for about $12. One time recently I went out on a limb and got highlights here as I had been paying $150 for this service. $35 later my hair looked awesome, no orange color, well distributed color... the tough thing is this is a school and if you find someone you like they won't be there forever so you can't get too comfortable. My hair always looks great when I leave here. Right now I recommend Andrea in the morning & Karla in the afternoon class. read more

I understand it is a school, I went on Saturday to do my hair and makeup, the students are really friendly and dedicated, the hairstyle was ok, but the makeup was awful, I said nothing about offending the lady, also I brought my lashes and the lady put itt, very bad, and never told me that I would be charged $ 13 for them, when I went to pay the lady at the cash very rude and unkind charging me $ 13, I explained that no one had warned me, and that was ridiculous because the makeup cueat 7 dollars, this place is unprofessional read more

For the past 5 years I've been a customer at Ogle on Mockingbird. I usually go about 4 times a year to get a haircut. For $8 they wash, cut, dry and style my hair and I have ALWAYS been happy with the results. I've never had a bad experience. I always schedule the earliest appointment they can offer me on a weekday and the longest I've had to wait for my appointment was like 10 minutes. The only time I had a somewhat negative experience was about 4 years ago, I usually request a more experienced stylist since my hair is really thick and unmanageable, that time however I did not and I was set-up with one of the newbies, anyhoo this guy hit on me, he kept complaining about how thick my hair was and then messed up my hair cut as well but luckily there was another guy there who basically ran to my rescue and assisted the other guy in cutting my hair and guess what? It turned out perfect. So other than that I've got no complaints and honestly I can't believe all the bad reviews this place has. Especially if you are on a budget but can't sacrifice a good hair cut, this is the place for you. I've been to places that charge 4x what this place does and with terrible results and sometimes not even with a wash and style included, so I just don't get it. I can't review if this is a good school because I am not a student and dont know any students personally and I cannot review any other service other than a hair cut seeing as how that's all I've ever gone for. read more
