After years of simulating what was once my natural color, I was tired of dyeing. After much discussion, the plan that day would start with bleaching ro remove what was left of the red dye. The bleach had little to no affect, so a second attempt was made. No change. At this point, the student went to speak to the instructor, and was gone 10 minutes or so. She returned with the instructor who explained that the old color wasn't lifting, and I could either continue dyeing my hair red, cut it, over time, until the red was removed, or they could try the bleach again. I'd bleached once in my lifetime, and told them my hair felt like straw afterward. I asked if using bleach multiple times in one session was common, and expressed my concern about further damaging my already dry hair. The instructor said the bleach they use isn't harsh like the stuff sold in beauty supply stores. At that point, I'd been there almost 3 hours. It was either stop everything and they could apply a toner that would cover my 3 inch roots, and sort of blend into the now strawberry blond ends, which were 6 inches or more, or bleach a third time . The toner produced an ash blond result, (I was shown a swatch of hair) which I didn't like, but again, not much choice unless I went back to red. The instructor informed me she was taking over, and would finish my session herself. The third bleaching didn't work either. The toner was applied, so my hair was a lighter ash blonde, that turned to darker strawberry blonde. Now, after 4 months, my normally curly hair is terribly damaged. It's beyond frizzy, and looks like it was exposed to extremely high heat, and even better, it's breaking off at a rapid rate. I'm talking a handful of hair every day. I'm at a loss! This has never happened to me. I knew that much bleaching couldn't be good, but they're the professionals, right? I'd been better off with a buzz cut, the red would've been gone, and today, I'd have 4 inches of new, HEALTHY growth. As it is, I'm embarrased to leave my house. read more

Short version: I found the Ogle School and I figured, how bad can it be? Answer: Bad. WORST HAIRCUT EVER type of bad. If you don't want to invest in hats I'd skip this place. Please see picture and weep for my hair. Long Version: I have been to a number of beauty schools before in other states and I have enjoyed some of the best haircuts. I know they are students but by the time they get to practice on a real head they usually have some know how under their belts and worst case scenario is usually a great-clips quality cut. My husband and I had an appointment. We both signed in, checked in with the girl at the computer and I sat down. My husband got called back and I waited. After 30 minutes of waiting and watching people without appointments go in ahead of me I went up and asked. The girl shot me a NASTY look, typed away at the computer and then said - well you're checked in now. No apologies. Great start. I went in with hair down to my butt. I explained I wanted my hair a little below cleavage level. I showed her exactly where I wanted it to land. It is 7 inches shorter then I asked her to cut it. That is the difference from mid-back to shoulder length. I can understand an inch or two difference since they are students. But 7 INCHES!? I have short shoulder length hair now. That was enough of a shock. But that isn't the worst part. I wanted bangs. If you looked at the picture I truly don't need to say anything else. It is so bad that my husband literally took me shopping for hats after. Plus I've been having to cut wispy strands of bangs that weren't cut for days now. She was really sweet, and I wouldn't say it was her fault after meeting one of the instructors. Let us talk about professionalism for a moment. I henna my hair with 100% natural henna. It is EXCELLENT for your hair. Nearly every student in the place came up to tell me my hair was beautiful (before I got it cut, afterward they just diverted their eyes). The "Teacher" came over and told me that I should never dye my hair because it would all fall off due to the henna I've used on it. I advised her that henna is a 100% natural and good for your hair and that you can dye right over it. I've done it before with no problem in fact. She actually argued with me that I was wrong and that it would fall out. Didn't I just say I've done it before without a problem? She pretended not to hear me say this and went on preaching about how it would ruin my hair and it would all fall of if I even thought of highlighting it. Perhaps compound henna, or unlabeled boxed henna is bad for your hair as it may contain metallic salts, but plain pure henna is a plant and is great for hair. I said this yet again and was yet again ignored. She then began telling me how I shouldn't henna my whole head but should only do the roots as the bottom of my hair was much darker, she even held it up to show the darker ends. The ends actually have indigo in them (another plant) which is why it was darker and was another reason I wanted it cut. I advised her of this and she just kept on explaining how HENNA was darkening the rest of my hair. I have been using henna for 7 years, it is as dark as it is going to get now AND that is indigo, sweetheart. She once again just ignored me and walked off in a huff. #1 you shouldn't argue with your customers, even if I was dead wrong, that was not an attitude you should be demonstrating to your students. #2 Maybe if she spent a little less time explaining the dangers of a natural plant to her students and a little more time on basic FIRST day things like how to not butcher someones bangs, I wouldn't have the worst haircut EVER right now. I really wish people would educate themselves before opening their mouths, especially "hair experts". Do a 5 minute browsing of hennaforhair.com at least (or you know, pick up a book maybe?) and you'll learn plenty about the plant, and read about tons of women who switch back and forth between henna and hair dye with no problem at all. This is especially imperative if you are a teacher and passing on knowledge to others. My husband also got a hair cut here unfortunately. He had really long hair going in, and was getting it cut short. He said he told them over and over and over that he wanted it short. I even walked by at one point and told the woman, "much shorter!" He walked out of there looking like he still needed a haircut. So in the end, I got scalped, and his barely got cut. Good Luck to anyone who is brave enough to go. Be sure to bring a hat. read more

I feel like this place is often hit-or-miss. I've been here three times for pedicures. The first one was probably the best pedicure I've ever had. Fantastic massage and a great job with the polish. The second time was not as good, but still worthwhile for the price. The third time was the day before my wedding. I went with my two sisters in law and my mom. The woman who did my mom's nails did a fantastic French tip, while my SILs' toes ended up looking like the technicians were blindfolded. Don't go here if you need your toes to look good for a special occasion, because you'll be taking a risk. But if you're looking for an hour to relax at a great price and aren't picky about how your toes end up, this place is perfect. read more

The Only thing good is the price. I gave the student 2 chances to cut & color my hair & she failed both times. The layers were uneven & one side was longer than than the other. I asked that the the bulk be cut out but, that wasn't even attempted. When I called & made my appointment for highlights, I told the receptionist to let the stylist decide. When I got home & looked in the mirror, the highlighting stopped in an arc arc around the back; how strange. After 3 hours of being bombarded with minority club music, talking & laughing of students who didn't have clients behind me, a student who had a shouting match over the phone within a few feet of me of me & another student who interrupted my session twice to ask questions that could have waited or asked of another, it's no wonder I left with a headache! There's a sign which states that it's a professional environment & that's why paying customers aren't allowed beverages; I could have used alcohol! read more

There are other beauty schools that I have had a way better experience in and don't embarrass me in front of other customers by rejecting me in public on the floor. Just had a spa facial and wax with Megan Campbell(She's a student in the evening program). My experience was amazing! I'm usually leary about getting facials because of my sensitive skin, but I thought I would give a try anyway. Megan exceeded my expectations. Warning! Enter at your own risk! Got there at 11am. Left at 7pm. Cut/Color/Style that ended up being a Trimming of ends (like a kindergartner)/Color/Wash/Blowout (catastrophe)/Color Redo/Rewash/Blowout (of epic painful proportions). I left there with painful blisters all over my scalp!! It's been a month and my scalp is still healing from this fiasco! The manager there that redid my color was a Godsend... very VERY sweet lady! I have been a client for many years at this Hurst location,have had consistently positive results,that is until this past year. I went for my usual color touch up, told the color usually held in the data bank was purged, they no longer will keep records of what color one uses! Luckily, I had a record on my phone, so I gave them the formula I use. They gave me a phase II student who seemed very uneasy with color. The instructor gave the student some seemingly confusing advise on how to do the color, not a method I have ever seen in 10 years of service there. I use three different shadowing shades on my hair, never been a problem until this time. Student used the darkest color on the highlight section,not apparent until it was washed I objected and told her to correct this ASAP. The manager took charge, put something to lift the mistake tint,but it only made it a lighter reddish color,still not what I ordered. I was upset, very stressed out,but she did not even seem to grip my frustration,not to mention we started at 1:30 and it was almost 6:00 now!!!! They had the nerve to charge me for the mess and said they would call me to get me in to redo the color( they called me once, but when I returned call, was not able to reach the manager at 3:00 the next day,told me only she could authorize appointment for correction. The leadership has changed for the worst, looking at other posts, I am not the only one who has less than positive results there. I will not using this place in the future,very unproffesonal, uncomfortable atmosphere, music is annoying and way to much "horse play" going on between students without any intervention on management. It seems like "the blind leading the blind" here. Prices have taken a hike with less being included and unpredictable results. Do not waste your time here! read more

Ogle School - Great Haircut - Cosmetology Schools Near Me - Fort Worth, Texas

So I came in earlier this week. My hair is VERY basically cut-- it's a below the chin blunt bob. Simple. I came in for a touch up. The girl who cut my hair was nice but clearly under-experienced. She started cutting my hair dry and spraying some water on it once in a while. I ended up with an extremely uneven haircut. The instructor came over and seemingly fixed it, so I was fine and left. After washing my hair and home and trying to style it I am utterly baffled-- it is SO much shorter then I asked for. It's uneven. They shaved the back of my neck and left patches. My hair went from a grown out bob to god knows what. I guess that's the risk with a student done haircut. Needless to say I'm upset and probably won't return. read more

I have come here on two separate occasions for a Facial and Microdermabrasion Treatment, both done by the same Aesthetician Cayla O'Connell. She was very professional and made me feel comfortable coming in and refreshed walking out. She also educated me on some of the facial products she helped me pick out that I can use at home to help with my skin flaws. I had to change my review on this place.. it is such a hit or miss. IF you want to get your hair down here make sure you request a student that has been there a decent amount of time. They ruined my hair last time I came here and I went to get it fixed somewhere else. My sister came here for a CUT and it was okay.. I have been to this location twice. The first was for color and flat iron. I needed a haircut so I got that also for an additional charge of $6.00 onto the price. The student who did my hair did an excellent job, my hair looked great. I'm growing my hair longer and she kept the length while getting rid of the damaged ends. Since I like her work I went back today for a wash, deep condition and flat iron. Since it was a rebook appointment I got 10% off on the price of the service. That isn't much, but it was still nice. The same stylist did my hair and she's excellent. I don't have a relaxer in my hair but you can't tell. It's straight and pretty like I wanted it. There is something about Ogle that I noticed on both visits and I thought it was weird both times. The black students that I saw had black clients. The white students had only white clients. Today, I noticed the exact same thing and what made it EXTRA noticeable is there was an Asian student working today and guess what...yep, her cllient was Asian. I never saw hair segregation in Lewisville at Regency. Maybe this is a Ft. Worth thing. I subtracted one star for that little system being practiced there. read more

Went in on Monday night and my hair was destroyed. I asked for a trim and all my hair was chopped off and on top of that the supervisor made my hair even shorter to fix the stylists correction. My top layer is almost in-line with my ears and I look like a mushroom. I walked out in tears. I'm so nice I even tipped even though they made me look like a fool. I have loved my experience with the students there. But I will only go to the one in Hurst from now on. They always trying to charge me $10 extra for long hair. The one in Hurst does not. Even when I got highlights they didn't up charge me. They up charge me $10 when I went in to get my hair styled. Avoid the Fort Worth location and go to Hurst instead. read more

Not good! Whole experience not what I expected and I'd been to the Hurst location several times. This was closer to the side of town I would be near. I saw salon manager at front desk when I arrived. I asked if there was a coke machine. He said yes in break room but only water was allowed in salon area. I thought that was odd! I bought a bottle of water from the break room. I scheduled appt with a student who was near graduation. She was to graduate in 7 days but had no supplies stating someone stole them! I was get a color and she set a timer for 40 minutes. She then walked away! Did not offer me any magazines etc. When she returned she said she had gone to lunch! When the color job was done she mistakenly used conditioner instead of shampoo! She said the bottles were not labeled correctly! When it came time to trim my hair she said her friend was going to do that part. She said her friend knew how to cut better! The salon manager checked me out. I advised that the policy of only water in salon area was crazy. He said they had a bug problem because of spills! I asked why they didn't just wipe up the spills! He said he liked the policy. I said I don't and I'm the customer! I bought 3 products from him (shouldn't have!) He put them in a zip lock bag after looking for sacks for 20 minutes! Hair color also is not what I water..it is too dark! I think they were out of the color I wanted! read more

I am so encouraged and impressed with this place! I had an appointment for a haircut on this past Thursday with Alyssa at this location. I arrived to my appointment a little bit early, as I typically do, and got to catch the end of their morning meeting. Mr. V (I believe) was speaking to the students and ended his talk by reminding them that they were so loved and worthy of good things. The energy in this school is fantastic and you can feel how much the staff believes in these students. WITH THAT BEING SAID, please check your heart before you schedule or receive a service here. If you are not walking through those doors with love and grace and patience in your heart, you need to go elsewhere. These are STUDENTS. They do great work and are working hard to perfect their trade. Remember how you felt as a student. At the end of the day, it's just hair, but the way you talk and treat these students will make an imprint on their hearts for years and years to come. read more
