Adults love it because there is some interesting history plus the trolley ride! A huge plus is that this location is Autism certified and they really mean it. Every staff person has been trained and are knowledgeable about their programs that they offer and are great at what they do. The museum was recently redone and has a lot of interactive exhibits and fun historical displays. There is a lot to read and learn, or kids can just enjoy the game aspect of some of the exhibits. When you exit the museum, you are at the trolley stop and can take a ride on the trolleys! They depart twice an hour (check the schedule when you are getting your tickets). The day I visited they had a New Orleans car and another that were alternating rides. It was fun to take the fairly quick round trip and get some additional information about trolleys. There is another building beyond the trolley tracks that has a large variety of trolleys from various eras and in various states of repair. You can walk through some of them and others you can just look at. There is also the famous Mr. Roger's Trolley. They have a lot of fun special events (like Santa and Easter Bunny trolleys). As a play space this place would get 4 stars but as a museum it would get one star. I averaged that and gave it 3 stars for affordability. The place is basically one big room but it has some walls to divide the space up a little. They have animal alley with a tarantula, fish, lizard, turtle, and a snake. They have a climbing wall, craft area, chalkboard, train table, and a sand table. One of the cooler stations is the lego station as they have a good collection of lego parts. They also have a station with an Ipad attached where one can video tape their actions and replay them. They have the bigger lego blocks in some small bins. They have the blue imagination blocks for constructing as well. My kids the loved the dress-up outcove the most as they have a kitchen and numerous outfits to put on. They have a small house type structure to climb steps. My 3 year old walked up it and was disappointed to not see a slide. All in all this place is a decent place to play on rainy or cold days. It is open enough to let the kids run around while one relaxes a little. Bring your own food and drink. There is a hot dog stand across the street and a restaurant on the corner. If you are traveling and need a place for kids to run around and be engaged then this place is better than the playspace at Burger King in St. Clairesville.

First opened it's doors in 1904, this means it is 115 yrs old this year. The longest running, operating theater in West Virginia. This 800 seat Victorian Masterpiece is Registered a Historic Landmark In 1934, it became home to the Jamboree which is the 2nd longest running show in the USA. It's Beaux-arts influence in architecture is stunning. I waa so happy to stumble across this beauty.

Centre Market has the famous Coleman's Fish Market, plus a second location of Tito's Sloppy Doggs (called Tito's in the Market House), a cheese shop and Michael's Beef House, home of the original roast beef sandwich. There's a building that's not physically connected but still part of Centre Market, and it houses a coffee shop, a hand-pie bakery, an ice cream shop and an art gallery. This part of Centre Market also has comfy couches and games to play, so if you're looking for an area to hang out and stay a while, this part of Centre Market is your spot. I love a good food hall, and Centre Market is a good place to visit if you're looking to find something to eat but don't know what you want. There's something for everyone here, and it's all local, which is great.

On a Thursday afternoon the market area was mostly empty and desolate, but the vendors who were operating were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Makes me sad that Wheeling used to be THE city in which to see and be seen. We bought a few sweets and sausages from local vendors and I am sure I could have spent WAY more money here. The building reminds me of the marketplace in Charleston SC on a much smaller scale. I hope these vendors can make it and I wish them a major boost of life and vitality. Everything about Wheeling: the number of Victorian homes, the historic businesses, and the centre market have so much offer, if only a little love continues to go into downtown.

Our tour docent was Sherry, who is highly…read moreknowledgeable as well as personable, and she led us through 200 years of glassmaking with a strong emphasis on the industry right here in western Pennsylvania as well as eastern Ohio. I definitely recommend that you go for the guided tour. You will learn so much of the background of these marvelous sparklers, the history of the famed Duncan & Miller Company, how cultural trends affected the types of glassware (and vice versa), and the whole glassmaking process. She was so nice and kind, and gave us some bottled water about 45 minutes in. This was during the 90-plus heatwave. The museum was nice and cool, I am happy to report. The museum is not open every day BUT, if you contact them in advance they will open just for you! That's what we did as our vacation had us in the area for just two days and we wanted to soak up a little culture. Our tour took about 90 minutes and our interest was piqued the whole time. At the end we got to watch an educational video and test our knowledge in determining the use of assorted antique glass items. We got about 75% right! This same room also has a table with small versions of many items which you can handle. Don't miss the gift shop either. Many unique and lovely items for sale, but I was immediately drawn to a purple Fenton glassware cat and he came home with us. They update exhibits periodically and are also planning an expansion, so I hope to get back here on a future visit to see what's new. The museum is fully accessible for the disabled. Street parking outside along the building complex cost me about .65 cents for just under 2 hrs.
