There was quite a few things for younger kids to do, to include a water table, painting on plexiglass glass, a dinosaur scavenger hunt, games, building blocks, play structure, etc. They had some tables and chairs set up for crafts, story time, and even let the kids pet a tortoise. While this area was nice, I felt like a lot of these activities could be found or done for free at local parks or a library. It was a nice break from the beach, but I don't think the cost is worth it for me to go back or refer it to friends.

This was the first event we've ever been to at Enmarket Arena. It's about half the size of VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville which holds about 15,000 for concerts whereas Enmarket Arena holds about 7,500. Their minor league hockey team plays there as does their new women's basketball team like our Jacksonville Waves. The venue has been open for 4 years now and somehow, there are still some pain points with respect to customer service / interaction. There seem to be tiers of teams there and I can tell you this: every single person we interacted with that was wearing a blazer was rude to us for absolutely no reason. Even though we encountered more than a few folks who seemed almost mad to be working there I'd like to call out two AMAZING people that helped make our night awesome. These two folks were from other teams (not wearing blazers). First, I'd like to thank Sheila for being a warm, kind hearted person who was just a joy to interact with from the moment we got to the arena until we left. We roamed a lot, so we ran into her more than a few times. Every time we did, she was smiling, helping someone with something and being upbeat. I'd also like to say thank you to Adrienne, our go-to person at the concession stand by section 102. Like Sheila, she was warm, kind and just a very nice person. She happens to know Detroit very well so we had a great conversation about traveling around Michigan as kids. The show itself had a surprising amount of production issues, which I've never seen at a Weird Al concert. Miscued backdrop videos and delayed audio triggers happened a few times through the show, which was just odd to see. Al is a pro though, so he pushed through them without missing a beat or complaining to the crowd about it. I've included photos of us with the workers I shouted out along with a photo of Lauren talking to Weird Al after the show. If you go to the original post in our Facebook group, you'll also see a few long video clips of the opening of the show because I always love how he starts the show from backstage. Another great experience from Weird Al is in the books. Now we have to wait for Tallahassee in September before we see him again. Tickets are good for one entry on one day. When you get in, the whole convention floor is filled with booths: clothing, food, drinks, kitchenware, art, jewelry, home goods, makeup products, and so much more. Bring a shopping bag to carry all the stuff you are going to get (for free and being sold). Also bring address labels with your name, address, phone (or email). So many booths have giveaways this will save you time filling them out! All vendors I visited took cash or card. We happened to catch one of the vendors giving a demonstration: Thorns, Roses, and Puppy Noses. They fold books into intricate designs. Definitely check out the demonstrations because you might win free things or get coupons to the business's booth. Check the schedule online to plan ahead.

True, the Bananas play in large venues now. As much as I would try for tickets every year here I don't think you will ever find me watching somewhere else. The stadium is small enough where ride sharing is actually easy both getting there and being picked up after the game. The fact that the Bananas have a post-game "show" outside is a brilliant way to make it not a rush for everyone to leave at the same time. At least when I was there Lyft seemed to be a vastly better option than Uber for Savannah in general. So, if you generally only use one you might want to compare rides in real time before hitting the request button. Food is generally free. Not only free but when you say you want a hot dog you will probably be asked, "How many do you want?" What is for sale, like beer, Dippin' Dots, and some other food stuffs, is all reasonably priced too as is the merch. Are the Bananas the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball? Maybe, Banana Ball isn't baseball, but it's close. It is also entertaining enough for someone who is not into sports, like me. If you have kids, this will be the Disneyland of baseball to them as they get closer to the game than they ever would otherwise.

We had an amazing time this weekend at Grayson Stadium! It's a historic stadium with some really…read moreneat history and now the home of the Savannah Bananas. There are so many great details in this stadium, it's obvious that time went into every decision within. Some things to note: all tickets for Banana league games include unlimited food. This DOES start outside of the stadium during the pre-show. We weren't sure when the free food started so we ate beforehand and now we know. There is some free parking but it's limited so either Uber/Lyft or take your chances. If you get there early enough you shouldn't have an issue finding parking. Left Field Landing tickets include alcohol which does NOT start outside of the gates during the pre-show which was totally fine. We got there early to participate in the pre-game festivities. We opted for the Left Field Landing tickets for Party Animals v Clowns. We weren't sure how the drink rails would be but honestly, i'm so happy we chose that area. For an additional $5 we got all you can drink beer and seltzers. This included several local beers, including the official Savannah Bananas beer and your typical domestic brews + Nutrl seltzer. There was a dedicated bar just for the drink rails area and it was never busy. We did NOT have seats but we had drink rails that we could lean on and put our food/drinks on which was totally fine. Make sure to try and get a spot as far to the right as possible. If you are too far left you can't see the jumbo tron, thats the only drawback to this area. The time of our game was at 1pm and we were concerned about being in the direct sun but with the location of the drink rails, the entire section was fully shaded. People behind home plate and in the closer seating were in the direct sun. I'd take no seating with shade over a seat in the direct sun any day. Unlimited food included chicken sandwiches, hamburger/cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chips, popcorn, cookies, soda, water and popcorn. I was concerned that lines would be long and it would be difficult to actually get food/drinks but I never waited in any food or drink line for more than 1 minute. Aside from the included items there were some extras like Leopolds Ice Cream, cotton candy, trash can nachos, etc. I got some banana cotton candy to take home ($5) and a ice cream float ($8) with banana cream soda (omg it was so good!), vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. If you don't have the ticket type with drinks included, alcoholic bevvies were very reasonable, almost cheap! Beers were $6, which would normally be $15 or more at most other stadiums and cocktails were $11 which again would be probably double that at any other sporting event. Even though our section was in the outfield, we still were able to see the game and I personally did not feel "left out". The outfielders engaged with us and the party team came to our section many times. The game was engaging, entertaining and fun! We traveled from Orlando for this game and I wold absolutely travel again. The stadium is small so every seat is good and it feels intimate. The prices for food and drink are so inexpensive and the fact that food is included in the ticket price makes it worth it to travel. With our all inclusive tickets I fully expected to be let down or frustrated at some point. Usually when something is like this it's too good to be true so I expected some fine print stipulation or long lines but it never happened! The Fans First approach was truly apparent here and I'm so thankful that business models like this exist! We loved Savannah Bananas already but the more I learn, the more I admire the company!

The gravel road into it was blocked off, and instead there was a dirt road full of humongous potholes, filled with woodchips! I've never driven slower in my life....what the heck? There was a long line to get down this road....then when we get to the parking lot, after 10 minute down the drive, the parking lot is full. Probably 100 cars driving slowly around the parking area, hoping someone will miraculously leave, and hoping you're in the right place at the right time. There were no employees in the parking lot directing anyone. So rather than a corn-maze, we spent literally 30 minutes in a parking-lot-maze, trying to get the heck out of there. I understand people probably swarmed the place, due to the covid lockdown we live in. But we promised our two-year-old pumpkins and goats. Instead she got 2 hours in her car seat, and a trip to Walmart to get a pumpkin and a toy, for being so well-behaved during this waste of time. If the owners read this, I would advise the following: 1) get a proper road (gravel is great, not potholes and woodchips) 2) build a larger parking area 3) have some employees out there directing traffic 4) if you're over-capacity, turn people away at the main road!! It is one of the two best entertainment venues offered in the oldest City in Georgia. It is secure when entering, and their Security Staff (yes, the people responsible for telling you can't, which we all enjoy immensely because we are put on the spot thinking "What do I do with it now?"), are polite, respectful, conscientious, and will put you out should you decide to act out and disrupt everyone else's excited anticipation of the event. The food, when available is OK for a quick snack at the Johnny Mercer Theater (yes, they are one in the same). However, we prefer to enjoy dinner first at one of Savannah's remarkable restaurants which are plentifully depending upon your zeal for delectable gastronomic taste experience you desire. We enjoy making an evening of an enthralling musical or entertainment experience but want to spread the responsibility for helping us make our memory which we hope will last a lifetime around so as not to burden the Artist or Artists who are inviting themselves into their world so they can express and we can experience their emotional passion for their Art! Specifically John Cougar Mellencamp and KC and the Sunshine Ban both come to mind as providing us with outstanding performances expressing themselves while getting most of our audience up and out of their seats dancing in the isles with a plethora of smiles everywhere we looked! Those are the joyous lifelong memories, after a great meal that we will treasure, forever. I realize that the Savannah Civic Center will not want to read this next comment however, I would caution you that when buying your tickets for this venue IF IT is musical entertainment to get as close to the center section of the Johnny Mercer Theater as possible. Why? Because of the acoustical sound quality. I would NEVER suggest that sitting up against either wall in the floor or bottom section as this choice is NOT recipe for an enjoyably experience. I would suggest the Balcony seats over buying seats very close or against the walls of this venue because the base sound especially is just to overpowering and drowns out the music as that is all you can feel deep in you bones while losing the remaining full range of your musical experience. However, if you are a Heavy Metal enthusiast then "to the walls you must go!" for your tickets as I guarantee you will get all you ever wanted and then some. While I am not a Structural Engineer by profession I do understand and acoustical sound quality and would humbly suggest that the Savannah Civic Center Management consider a relatively inexpensive retrofit for the Johnny Mercer Theater. First, I would suggest you install large acoustical slightly slopped half moon directional shells behind each of your speakers mounted on those side walls that run the length of your theater to move that base sound off those walls back toward the sound circulating in the venue. Second, I would remove a few seats at each of the two back corners of the Johnny Mercer Theater and install slightly sloped or curved acoustical floor to ceiling columns that are thin but engineered to reflex sound, not absorb it which in this person's opinion would help some of that sound travel around the venue. These two relatively simple retrofits of this venue would help to the sound quality throughout the hall move throughout your theater. I also feel implementing changes along these lines of thought would help your Management sell more tickets to musical entertainment at the Johnny Mercer Theater. As for those who are wondering if they want to entrust their future lifelong memories to this wonderful venue, I would strongly suggest you do because it will put a smile on your face and a song in your heart!
