The adoption process was very easy and more thorough than my previous experiences with animal shelters (SA animal control did not care about anything at all). They seemed a little confused on whether he had a respiratory infection (he didn't), but you are given all medical /behavioral notes they have at checkout so you 100% know what's going on when you leave. They were nice enough to give us free shampoo, conditioner, and food. It was a very good experience and we feel blessed to add another crazy guy to our household!

We worked with Lindsay, and she was extremely knowledgeable, and skilled at reading our dog's behavior and needs. The training methods used are positive, and gentle. She provided us various training techniques and included videos for us to watch and reading material during the week. She provided great recommendations on dog products, enrichment ideas, and toys. It's clear that she understands canine psychology and tailor each session to meet the individual needs of our dog. In just a few sessions, we noticed huge improvements in our dog's behavior and obedience! The training environment was always welcoming and supportive, and we appreciated the ongoing tips and resources provided to reinforce what we learned at home. She would reach out during the week and made herself available between training sessions for any questions or issues we were working through. It's kind of a long story how Thuy and I came to the decision to adopt a couple of cats (in kitten…read moreform), but the last chapter of the story fell in place in our new neighborhood. Through conversations with various new neighbors we learned of another neighbor that works with a rescue organization (it sounded pretty vague to us too). But due to some good timing, and culminating during a neighborhood "block party", we finally met this person we heard so much about.. As luck (fate?) would have it, she told us that she has two kittens coming up for adoption. We went to meet the kittens (similar in age, but not related) later that week and again a week later. Of course they were super cute, what kittens aren't? I must admit that I was a bit skeptical about the adoption situation, but as I looked into Kool Kats, I liked what I read. So I don't know a lot about rescue situations, but I learned that conventional shelters can be rather stressful situations for the animals. Kool Kats is rather unique in that the rescued cats are NOT kept in shelters, rather they are all fostered in volunteer's homes (most are pet owners as well). This has a huge benefit as the foster parents have a chance to get to know the cats, their personalities, and what situations are right for the animal (homes with/without children, other pets, quiet situations, needy animal etc.). All this adds up to an adoption situation that may be a bit better than adopting a cat from a shelter or adoption event, where the animal may not be known as well. I felt that our cat's foster parent, a cat owner herself, knew these cats very well (and her insight was very helpful). So it's been a couple of weeks now, and we are very happy with our decision. Marco & Polo are wonderful, healthy animals (the cats are checked by a vet prior to adoption, and we have our next check-up on July 11th). Also, with two cats, they keep each company when we are not home. So far, it looks like we made a very good decision. Note: The address on the business listing is not that same as what's on the Kool Kats web site, so if you need more information, do check the website (there is a lot of information there, though the adoption price may have gone up from what's listed). The dogs did well but this type of training did not addresses some of the behavior issues. Amber came n and observed the dogs and all the family members so we could address the issues with all the dogs and family members. We were able to come up with a plan.
