Where should I start? I will start from reading other peoples reviews. Each review was telling my story from the moment I drove my car into the parking lot and the staff came out to assist me with removing my dog from my vehicle. They took one look at him and knew he was bad off. They immediately took my baby and rushed him to the back and begin working on him. They allowed me to stand there and observe everything they did to my King. I am a medical person and I am familiar with the processes of triage patients with emergencies. The physician performed a sonogram and began to tell me my options of care. I had to make the most difficult decision in my life. I decided not to be selfish and to have my King put to rest. This facility not only comfort me, but my family as well. They gave us a room and told us to take our time, they offered refreshments and continually checked on us. They just went out of their way with compassion and concern. I have never experienced this type of Customer Service in my entire life. It made me and my family feel heard and understood about our wishes. Once my family completed our goodbyes and they put our King to rest, they comfort my family, some even shared tears with us. They gave us things to remember our baby boy King that I will cherish forever.This hospital will always hold a special place in my heart. This is a place that I would love to work at and be proud to say that I worked there because each and every person who works in that building are Gods angels, and truly care about the animals that they treat. I will always be grateful. I know this was God's plan because it all went perfectly. Yes, I left without a dog, but I now have a new family that I would cherish with my other pets. Thank you again to each and every one of the staff who comfort my family, who gave my comforting hugs and who helped my King. I pray that this establishment continue to employee such phenomenal people who I believe are Angels. I would recommend this pet hospital anyone will listen. I am forever grateful. read more

Do NOT bring your pet here. We brought my 15 year old childhood dog here for vomiting and not eating, which is very unlike her. They took a X-ray and said there was fluid in her abdomen which could be from all the water she was drinking. There was also something in her intestines that could've been a blockage or just food. They said there could be a small blockage, but let it go with sub q fluids. They said they could keep her there for the night, but they didn't seem that concerned about it. We took her to our normal vet the next day and we had to put her down. It was a blockage and she ended up having aspiration pneumonia and she might've been going into heart failure. My husband and I have a 12 year old black lab who we've had since he was born. He is our everything. Friday night we got home from work and he was super lethargic, wouldn't eat (anything we tried it all), would barely get up and walk and we were beside ourselves. Finally got carrots in him. We decided to wait through the night and see how he was Saturday. By Saturday afternoon we thought this was going to be our goodbye. Still wouldn't eat, wouldn't get up, panting uncontrollably, light was gone from his eyes. My husband carried our 97 pound lab to the car and we drove him in. They were amazing from the moment we got there, reassured us it's not the end, ran tests, all the things. They think he's in a lot of pain with joints and arthritis. They had to sedate him to do an ultrasound and he fought it so hard. Took 4 staff to hold him down. We left with him feeling hopeful. He's still on the road to recovery but so happy we took him here. Thank you to the wonderful staff who were patient, understanding, and wonderful with Champ. I especially want to thank Dr. Nicole Gaither. Her compassion went such a long way. Fingers crossed we won't have to come back, but I would feel very safe brining champ or our other pup here again. read more

I had to make a hard decision to put my senior dog down. He was not doing well and it was late on a holiday. I was fortunate enough that they were open all night because I couldn't have him suffer any longer. When I brought him in they were very supportive and sincerely empathetic, we had our own private room and had all the time we needed. I chose to do a private cremation and when I went to pick up the remains the staff continued to express how sorry they were and I could feel how sincere they were. On 2/28/26, my cat was seen by Dr. Kelly Still. She is a horrible vet. I wouldn't recommend this place to nobody. She wouldn't write a prescription for his condition and only cared about charging me thousands of dollars that I couldn't afford. After we left, I called her and begged her for a prescription for his condition. But, she refused and was very rude. My cat died after I talked to her. Brix will be greatly missed. RIP Brix. I hate that I have to write this review as we really didn't want to be here. Our sweet senior cat, Kona, had kidney failure a couple months ago and required a visit to the ER as our regular vet was closed. The staff were all wonderful and up front about pricing from the beginning. After dropping her off, the staff assured us we could call at any time for updates and encouraged us to come visit her. We stopped by after getting off work and were able to spend a lot of time with her and were visited by both nursing and physician staff to answer questions and explain her plan of care. The following day, we received a dreaded phone call early in the morning that she was no longer doing very well. When we arrived, the doctor explained everything and gave us our options. Due to the seriousness of her condition and unlikely odds of her recovering, we made the difficult decision to proceed with euthanasia. The staff provided us with a private room, allowed us ample time to say goodbye, and really helped us to feel at peace. They also handled her remains and had her cremated for us. When we picked her up, we were so impressed by the love and care that went into making her urn beautiful and providing us with keepsakes, like fur and paw prints. The staff were incredibly kind and empathetic, even forgiving a portion of the bill as it ended up being more expensive than we previously thought. Though I hope to never need to come back to VEG, I wouldn't hesitate to bring any of my pets here based on how Kona was treated. Thank you for all you did for us, VEG. read more

Sadly, after giving my sugar glider the dose from one of the medications they gave me, less than 5-10 minutes later she took her last breath. I notified the office and they gave me their best excuse of why she passed & it was that she was under "stress." I took a look at the dosing they gave me along with what the paperwork said. She should have gotten .01ml of the medication and the tubes had significantly more than .01. It was an overdose. My glider was eating,drinking, and alert when I took her into the office with a broken arm. That next morning after all the medication they gave her... she was shaking, cold, not moving and groggy (due to the medication). I know sugar gliders, I have had them for over 10 years and taken care of different rescue gliders who have had various surgeries over the years and never saw one go down that quick after pain medication. It was mostly an insult hearing them say it was stress. Please learn about the animals before taking them in. If you don't feel comfortable with an exotic animal please pass the opportunity. Staff- y'all are good people. To the vet, I won't mention your name- Sugar gliders are resilient animals and it wasn't "stress" in this case. I've taken in gliders who self mutilated or even had extreme anxiety. This wasn't that. She was a baby glider and she had a chance to live even with the broken arm before she was overdosed. I don't care about the money spent for y'all to essentially over dose her. Just please don't take any other future gliders lives. Let them go to a real emergency vet who is familiar with exotics and sugar gliders. I knew better than to take my sugar glider to a non-recommended vet office... However, the vet office also had an ethical obligation to also say they cannot take in animals that they are not familiar or comfortable with. No it was not stress, but when it comes to what goes in their body and it's too much, then yes they are sensitive to that. RIP little glider. read more

On Saturday going into Sunday (02/22-02-23) I brought my cat Milo in to be seen because he was looking very skinny and not acting himself at all, they ran tests and told us that it was his liver or something failing (I've since blocked it out of my head) and told us we had two options 1. Have him stay in the hospital for months and months and possibly have to get a feeding tube and everything or 2. Euthanize him. I made the hardest but best decision for him to be put down. I cannot thank the staff anymore about how insanely kind they were, I was allowed ample time to say goodbye and they dealt with him with such care. I only ended up paying $125 for the euthanasia after talking to them. I HIGHLY recommend them, they truly care about the animals and even the people! read more

Customer service could be better. I walked in and was placed in a room with my dog. After 5 min they took by dog to the back for vital signs. Vet Tech (which was fabulous) came in about 15 min later to get history. She said vet would come out to talk to me since there was one pet in front of me. After one hour and 15 min I asked for my dog which I'm confident was in a crate under "Observation" (Which means alone since they were treating another dog). When will veterinary offices and emergency rooms remember that these pets are Our family. I want to be present while they treat my pet. I want a vet to come speak to me and not have me waiting while they do a "Hand off". Give me an update. Throw me a bone. After a $120 charge and no resolution to my dog's issues I was sent home. Honest group of people and I would recommend this facility to anyone with a life or death emergency.

We took our 13 year old chihuahua here after visiting our vet and being told she had a serious case of pancreatitis. They told us due to her blood work reflecting liver issues as well, we may want to go to VEG where we could get immediate IV fluids and X-rays/sonogram if we opted for those. We have a wellness plan at our vet and never miss an exam, dental cleaning etc. We were devastated that our baby had some serious issues going on. Everyone at VEG was amazing. They thoroughly explained all of the options and we were able to stay with our dog in a suite all night where we could hold her as she got her IV and be with her during every test. They put us at ease, and our dog was not as stressed being able to have us with her. They were very thorough, caring, and went the extra mile to make us and our baby comfortable. They gave us an estimate on the cost and it ended up being quite a bit less. Yes, hospitalization isn't cheap, but if you opt for it, I highly recommend this ER. Worth every penny. read more

I've been putting off on writing this review because I'm not entirely sure how to put this into words. However I will try my best. My childhood dog Athena had sadly passed away 30 minutes before midnight on New Year's Eve. I got home after my family called me that she passed away. Me and my boyfriend got her body into the car and we drove here to this ER. I had called ahead to make sure we could cremate her and it was definitely poor communication on their behalf because I was told it would be around $230 to do so. Once we get there they explained that it would be an extra $200 bucks to keep my dogs ashes and that I'd be pretty much paying these people just to throw my dog away. I know most companies don't have empathy or care much for people's situation because it's all about money. Maybe it's just me who finds it ridiculous but sadly it's the way the world works. I called up some other places while waiting in the waiting room. Sadly I couldn't find a place to take my poor baby because everything is pretty much an all inclusive package deal including paw prints and urns like she's some goodie bag. Like OMG I just want my dogs ashes without everything extra and unnecessary. Anywho when I asked for my dogs body back because they had taken her inside. They said she had "made a mess on herself" then said they put her in a bag and proceeded to ask if I would like her out of the bag. This experience disgusted me so entirely. Yes it May be bad planning on my part but what am I supposed to do with my baby's dead body at 12am. After all of this I had to leave her body in our garage and next morning I buried her myself in my backyard where she is finally resting in peace. And guys I get it was new years but I found it unprofessional to see empty and full champagne glasses in the back everywhere. read more

Our dog, Darby, first began showing symptoms of pain in the neck area on 12/31, and I wasn't able to get an appointment with my vet until 1/6. We carefully monitored Darby each day and night, and on the evening of 1/5 decided we needed to visit an emergency room. The hospital we have gone to in the past wasn't accepting any walk-ins due to their heavy case load, so they referred us to VEG in Fort Worth. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted and asked what was going on. Within minutes, a tech, Sam, had joined us at the front desk to ask questions and to listen to our description of the issue. She then took Darby to the back to give her a quick check. The waiting room was full, so they found us a couple of chairs amidst the hustle and bustle of the hospital. It was amazing to watch how everyone worked together and how they interacted with each animal - big or small, cat or dog. I observed such camaraderie among the team, from information sharing on each patient to checking on us pet parents to ensure we had what we needed. They even have water and snacks for those long visits! Other emergency hospitals I have observed have not had such an open concept. I hadn't ever given it a second thought - until this experience. The staff was more concerned with quickly providing treatment needed than they were about making sure the invoice was paid. When the vet got down on the floor to be at the same level as Darby, who was now laying on a couch, I was done for. I mean, their website says they do that, but...they really do!! Registration, estimates, consent and payment were all handled online - I received a text, clicked a link, provided some information, and that was it! Very easy. Invoice, X-rays and report - click a link in an email. I checked with our primary vet this morning to ensure they had received the records from VEG, and sure enough, they had received them last night, just as we had been told they would. I want to give a huge shout out to Sam, the vet tech that first greeted us and who followed (and led) Darby's care over our 4 hour visit. She seemed to adore Darby and complimented her on being so laid back. Sam even sent us a text after we had left because she hadn't had a chance to say goodbye! Thank you, as well, to Dr. Phelan, who was so patient and kind, giving us the information needed to take the next step. Having the X-rays and report completed last night made today's appointment with our primary vet so much easier! An emergency vet visit is never fun, so finding a group of people that you feel really care about not only your fur baby and any outcome, but also about the pet parents is so welcome! read more

I am so glad I found this place. I have taken my fur babies here for emergencies several times. The last time, was not the best of reasons. My Frenchie, CoCo, had lost the use of her hind legs. We were there early morning on a Sunday. My baby was so uncomfortable and in so much pain. The doctor explained the prognosis and they kept her for observation. In the end, I made the decision that was best for CoCo. They gave me all the time I needed to say goodbye and love her. I held her as they administered the sedatives, and was told I could have even more time with her. The staff and team at VEG are phenomenal. They are kind and caring. They were so nice, caring, and loving with my dog. She broke her leg, and they told us they could get us in right away, and they did. They triaged her right away, did X-rays, and splinted her until we can get to a specialist. They explained everything in depth, and they did it with patience and kindness. We were visiting family for Thanksgiving all the way from NC. Unfortunately, during a walk, our dog Rocky started limping and did not want to put any pressure on a front paw. When we tried to look at it, he was not having it. My in-laws called their vet, but they could not see Rocky and suggested us to go to the emergency vet. My in-laws also wanted to take us to there as it was recommended by their vet, but I did not want to take Rocky there due to all of the bad reviews. Instead this one had great reviews and made me feel better about taking Rocky to a place he was not familiar with. I called VEG and they said to come on down - go ahead and fill out the paperwork online before coming. I did that on our way and as soon as we got there, they welcomed us in - started taking vitals and information immediately. The vet that saw him was very friendly. I loved that they gave us the option to go the conservative route of pain management with medications or do x-rays to confirm there was no break in the bones. We decided to go the conservative route and they sent us home with a week of medication. We ended up only using 2 days worth of the medication as Rocky quickly got better from his injury! Definitely HIGHLY recommend this place as everyone was friendly, the appointment was quick, and Rocky was properly treated at an affordable rate. read more

This review is for the location in Alliance ( I have not visited other locations). If I could give zero stars, I would. DO NOT EVER GO HERE. If you need Emergency vet care, go to Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas in Grapevine. Dr. Colleen Phelan is the absolute worst vet I have ever encountered. We brought our foster in with suspected canine influenza (we are experienced fosters, and unfortunately have had several dogs sick with the flu this year). We have very successfully treated several of them with antibiotics, sub q fluids, breathing treatments and syringe feedings - we have had 0 dogs pass away!) We ran out of sub q fluids at 8:00pm, our normal vet was closed. We were looking for a vet to examine our foster, give him fluids, an antibiotic injection and any other NECESSARY care before we saw our vet in the am. Dr Phelan ordered a bunch of unnecessary tests, including X-rays. We agreed to bloodwork (which came back unremarkable), and pressed for fluids and an antibiotic injection, neither of which were readily offered. Instead, Dr Phelan was VERY aggressive about insisted we hospitalize him overnight to the tune of $4300!! She said if we didn't hospitalize him, "he would DIE" . And this was in addition to the $1000 it had already cost for the bloodwork, fluids and injection. My son in law (who is a nurse, asked what care they would be giving him, that we could not do at home. The answer was none. We opted to take him home, give him a breathing treatment, and put him in a comfy bed with a humidifier. Dr Phelan took it upon herself to email our vet and suggested they "humanely euthanize" our foster. I am happy to report that fewer than 8 hrs after this HORRIBLE experience, our foster is eating soft food and going outside to potty. Last night he couldn't hold his head up and was very lethargic. We are continuing our home healthcare. I understand not everyone is capable of administering effective home healthcare, and may need to hospitalize. BUT please look for a hospital that cares about your pet, not gouging you on costs and trying to pressure you with scare tactics. Dr Phelan is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. P.S. she has only been a vet for 2 years, prior she was in Finance for 12 years -hmmmmm read more

Took my dog here because she is in pain and looks like she's at the end of her life. While being examined she bit one of the techs. Now, instead of treatment for possible Lymphoma, my dog has to go be in quarantine. The quarantine is looking around $3000, the fine for not doing it is $2000. To put the dog down here is $230. I am probably going to put her down myself at home. I cannot afford any of this on top of treatment for her. I do not suggest brining an animal with teeth to this facility in case you end up in the same situation as I. I don't feel she is a threat and need to be quarantined at the end of her life. My dog hasn't moved from her spot since we came home. read more

You never want to go to an emergency vet but if you have to this is the place. Amazing staff saved our pups life. They have an open floor plan and allow you to stay with your pet through almost every procedure obviously barring some things like surgery but you are allowed to watch if you wanted to. We came from our Vet where our dog Chloe was suffering from acute respiratory and heart failure. She had heartworm treatment years earlier. We knew she might have significant issues with her heart and blood clothes and heartworms blocking her heart was possible. The vet on duty and subsequent vets were less than candid in her overall condition, prognosis, and odds in recovery. The duty vet said her odds were 50/50 if she will pull through. They would know within 24-48 hours ($1500 daily). When I checked again the later that day, no change in prognosis. We came and stayed with her the next day and continued to pop in unannounced to check on her. I didn't see her getting any special care rate that was costing me $1500 a day. She was in a cage with oxygen. On day two, they said it would be another 24-48 hours. On day three, I told them I would give her another day, I wanted to see if she could bleed off oxygen. The next morning they said it was ready to put her down. I believe they based this on what I was saying not on her conditions. Each time, I asked them about her prognosis and if she would recover. Each time they said the same thing (50/50). They said a little more time to get better. The next day, she was in a cone. Couldn't eat or drink well. When I was there, I took the cone off and gave her eat and drink. Later that night, she hadn't eaten while I was gone. I didn't see any evidence that she gone to the bathroom. Same for the next day, I didn't see any evidence they even gave her food. Nor did I see any evidence from our pads we left to have her pee on. Which was odd since she was on IV Fluids. I questioned her care. I got the same prognosis. When they put her down, the vet was uncaring and didn't even acknowledge our pain and loss. After her death, we obtained her records. They knew from day one that she was going to die. Her heart had a 5/6 heart murmur. Her lungs had a lot of fluid. Their notes showed she had right atrium failure, she couldn't circulate blood through the heart and lungs. She had developed diabetes but weren't worried about treating it. It might not be unethical, but it was wrong. The vets made it seem that my Chloe had a 50/50 chance of survival but there records to each other said she didn't have any chance. She was in acute heart and lung failure. My wife and I believe that they used my state of mind to gave me false hope to milked us out of 4 days of care (Appx $4500) cause we could pay it, so they changed us for it. And I was so upset I didn't get a secondary opinion. I had no problem paying for her care if she had a chance. But what their records show, she didn't have any chance, not even close to 50/50. It would have been better they were honest with me and tell me she was in crisis and she wasn't going to survive. We could have spent our last couple of days at home with her and then put her down. I would have skipped the $1500 a day for four days that my wife calls torture. Which it was for her. And, it also saved us the $4500 vet bill for those days. For after hours vet care, this place is okay, but for candor and critical care, not so sure this is where you should go. I would recommend the hospital in Grapevine or somewhere else. read more

Pushy towards euthanization. Callous and lacking in compassion while we had to make a difficult decision. Additionally, all care is done in one big open air room and you are watching all other animals get care as well, it's chaotic and traumatizing, not to mention we are dealing with all the emotions of having to put our dog down in front of a room of total strangers. Cannot recommend to anyone I know and will not return, avoid if you can help it. read more

Great breeder. Rats are sweet and healthy. Lots of other back yard breeders try to play dirty, but she is immensely knowledgeable and a judge for shows. We've come back for more rats several times and will keep doing so. read more

Brought my sweet Lola here. She had to be laid to rest but we were treated with the utmost respect. The love/care that came from the staff goes unmatched. Sad times during this quarantine but I'm grateful to have stumbled across this place. Beautiful souls inside of this building. read more
