I recently moved here from Venice California. I would get my haircut at a place in Brentwood California that was rated top 5 in the US by the New Yorker magazine. After arriving, I went to a barber that was well rated in Old Town. I hadn't had a $28 haircut in a while, so I figured I would try them out, but they completely missed the boat. Ohana set me up with Mathew, and he was honestly fantastic! It's not often that I will write an review, but on this occasion I feel I must. I was totally disappointed and felt that nothing would compare to the treatment I received in California. I have to admit, I was was wrong... and it was half the price. I think I went to the other place because Ohana had $$$ and I was saving money. If you really don't care about a quality job and good experience, fair enough. It seems like Ohana has a lot of great people working for them now, I'm posting this review belatedly because it never posted in the first place. Only reason I'm posting so late is because this it seems that hairstylist hasn't learned her lesson 4 years later... Gianna dyed my hair how she wanted not how l asked for. I had asked for a blonde money piece that did not have balayage up to the roots which she decided to do because she thought it looked better. This was way back on January 22, 2022. Worst haircut of my life too, you can check it out on her Insta. It stuck with me because I think if I was older, she wouldn't have overstepped. Anyways on one of her recent posts she mentioned that the client requested her bangs not to be dyed... Yet she dyed the outer half of them... It would've looked better how the client wanted. Or maybe the fade was just bad I don't know. Maybe she will listen to advice from her fellow hairstylists about achieving client satisfaction if she won't from her clients. Maybe you all can save future victims of a hair stylist who does what she wants instead of what they want. Am I crazy for posting this four years later? Yeah. However, this is a big deal for the person spending hundreds of dollars on something that wasn't even a time consuming service. Nowadays, I work in the medical field and can afford a mistake like that. However, it's a huge disappointment for a lot of people to have to spend hundreds of dollars on a hair service only to have their hopes crushed by someone who thinks they know better. Unless you're trying to advise a client from dying their hair a color that is completely incompatible with their natural hair color and texture, keep it to yourself. This wouldn't have mattered if it was done by Walmart, you can expect to have a haircut/money piece botched when done there. However, absolutely not when you're spending hundreds of dollars and tipping exorbitantly. Salons, please do better at teaching your employees customer satisfaction skills as well as technical skills. And for the love of God, if you're employing a inexperienced stylist, be prepared to fix whatever mistake they made at your expense, not the client's. read more

I was there about 10 days ago. Second time with my stylist-really liked her. I was a little confused though because when I was there the first time, I booked for my next appointment- it was May 30ish and I booked for like August 8th... well I called THAT DAY to verify because I hadn't received any reminder text and I didn't have anything in my account portal showing that my appointment even existed. Sure enough- my stylist was out of town and my appointment did need to be rescheduled. Luckily I have the flexibility right now, otherwise I would have been pretty irritated. Ok, so now, fast forward to my 2nd appointment- and I had asked for "my roots done" and "a trim" so I'm thinking about 2 hours. It took 3. Nobody's fault - but when a salon is charging at an hourly rate- it feels awkward if your hair takes longer to process than other clients hair am I being charged to sit in this chair because my hair sucks ?! And then- I guess there is no option for booking "A TRIM" so that DOES SUCK. IMO there are two things; a hair cut- takes longer, it's a potential transformation, much more thought goes into it (hopefully) and a TRIM is TRIMMING whatever current haircut exists at that moment. No new layers- no new bangs, very brief- just the tips- snip snip snip!! Voila! Someone tell me you know what I'm talking about!?!? My biggest concern though, was this; when i went home... I'm kind of playing around with my hair... really looking to see how it looks. "Investigating" if you will, to see if my $270 ($320 with tip) was justified- because it better be mother forking perfect. Well it wasn't. I felt terrible. Because I left the salon feeling SO HAPPY!! but either way I felt terrible because it's just so uncomfortable to tell someone you were not happy with what they did for you specifically. I finally called and asked some questions about the pricing- the receptionist handled my situation perfectly- and told me that the manager would be reviewing the situation and would call me. A couple days passed and that hadn't happened... so I called again, and sent an email. THAT is when she responded stating why she never called back and it kind of felt like she was accusing me of being crazy or 'all over the place' and wrote something like we do not tolerate rude behavior and due to the unforeseen nature of your calls or something very off-putting (for not even speaking to me yet) . But finally in the end- she offered me three options. I chose the "Correction option" She then essentially replied "Great - I will do my best to accommodate as quickly as possible. Are you comfortable with the same stylist...?" I wrote - yes! absolutely- I adore her! Are you open to a phone conversation, because I feel very misunderstood. I wanted to explain (or defend) myself!!! I really felt like the situation was a BIG misunderstanding. TOO many people were in the middle of it. Anyways, I NEVER heard back after that. I followed up several times. i'm pretty sure she blocked my email!!?? I really just was hoping for my hair to be fixed ‍ I still love my stylist. She is awesome. Good person and great stylist. Sometimes stuff isn't perfect. I don't know why- But I bet- SHE would have been more than willing to have a conversation with me about it. I never got a chance to communicate with her because now, come to find out, this owner also decided to disable me from booking future appointments in their website!!!!! like REALLY???? So confused ‍ I do not know what I did. I really want my hair fixed though. Are you going to have some integrity- and be good for your word? You literally offered me a correction and then GHOSTED me. Beautiful salon! My service was efficient, exactly what I wanted. The scalp massage was fantastic. Will definitely return!

The hair color was decent a little bit striped and uneven but she did a nice job. That's not the problem, it should've been maximum $100 or less for a partial highlight. My problem is with the salon not telling you their prices before service, you're in for a big surprise! They charged me $250 for a partial highlight including tip. They charge only by the hour but refuse to tell you what it will cost. The only time I've ever paid that much was in Beverly Hills by a top stylist with over 20 years experience and it was well worth it. This salon charges those prices for a junior level stylist only two years out of cosmetology school. This place is criminal, I'll never be back. --------------- WOW, LOOK AT THE OWNERS RESPONSE!!!!! They claim that I did not have a partial highlight, but I had a FULL HIGHLIGHT WITH HAIRCUT. Totally lying, criminals, and if anyone thinks it should take 3 HOURS for a PARTIAL highlight they would be mistaken. I will now challenge these idiots with my bank because they are criminals. I'm disappointed... I tried to divulge what I wanted a number of times, but it didn't feel like I was being listened to for most of it. I had very little confidence in my stylist until I saw the color at the very end of the appointment. My hair looks great, but it wasn't what I asked for. I asked for 6 inches cut off, maybe a little more if needed. I placed my hair where I wanted the length, she checked with me, placing my hair in the spot that I chose but cut off 2-3 inches more than I asked for. At that point there is no going back. I recently purchased a $200 gift card at Ohana for my daughter. She was in need of highlights and a cut. The girl at the desk gave me 2 names of stylists that were good and faster and cheaper than the other stylists. My daughter had to set up an appointment for a consultation prior to scheduling an appointment for the cut and highlights. The consultation cost $18, and in my opinion was a joke, but my daughter was told that she had to have one since she had never been there and was consequently considered a new client. After the consultation, my daughter set up an appointment to have Nikita do her hair. Mind you, the gal at the desk said that Nikita was cheaper and fast. 2 hours and 45 minutes later, the job was done. In my opinion my daughter's hair looked just okay. The big shock was the price: $346.77!!! Wtf??! Then the girl at the counter asked if I wanted to add a tip. I thought for a few seconds and said "no" because the price was already TOO high! When ringing the charge up, the girl said the gift card didn't work so she called the manager in to help. The manager said she was having problems with the gift card as well. I said the card was purchased there in the salon, and I purchased it from the gal at the front desk and that I have proof of purchase. Finally the manager said she would override the numbers on the card, which worked. Then she ran my debit card for the remainder of the bill. Again, I was asked if I wanted to added a tip. I said "no" because the price was already TOO high!! The manager appeared to be unhappy with me but went ahead and finalized the charges for $346.77. When she considered the job done, she bid me "good-bye" and started to walk off. I asked her for my receipt, and she said "oh, of course". Needless to say, $364.77 for a consultation, hair cut and highlights was ABSOLUTELY absurd!!! The following day the charge for $146.77 showed up in my bank account. Additionally, there was a charge of $356.40 to be taken out of my account from a designer clothes company, (the purchase was made online). The bank alerted me to this charge, and after speaking with an employee at the bank, it was determined to be a fraudulent purchase. Additionally, a purchase was made for something else for $24.83 from some company in China!! I had not used my card again since paying Ohana for their services. Both the woman from the bank and I feel the $356.40 was definitely a coincidence since the purchase was made for a similar amount that I paid for the services at Ohana (those services included the balance after the $200 gift card was used). Unfortunately there's no way to prove it, but I strongly feel that someone at Ohana (most likely the manager) copied the number of my debit card and used the card for the purchase (for clothes), especially since she was angry that I wouldn't add a tip to the already absurd charge for the services!! Needless to say, I will NEVER step foot in that salon again, nor would I ever recommend Ohana to anyone, including my worst enemy!! They are WAY overpriced for a mediocre job!! They will steal you blind!!!!!! read more

Overall fantastic place if you're willing to pay the money. The barbers here know a great deal about hair and different hair types. I didn't even know that hair could be different or so varying in its quality until I got a haircut from here and for once, my head didn't look like a cotton ball post-shower. I always assumed that that was normal. The customer service is great - staff is very friendly and personable, and the environment/atmosphere is very open and relaxed. Place is nice and clean, and they have some pretty advanced equipment (based on my limited knowledge of hair products...). It is pricier - I got a men's cut the other day for $28. If you don't care that much about your hair then it's hard to justify spending twice the typical amount on a haircut (for men's anyway, I don't know about women's haircuts here). However, given that the cut includes complementary drinks (including alcohol!) and a shampoo, it's pretty clear that this establishment is higher-end and is justified in its higher price. read more

Don't walk, run to Ohana!!! I am here for a couple months for a work detail. I am super picky about who touches my hair and have been going to Toni and Guy in my home town for 10 years. Well, not now. Ohana can touch my hair any day. I went to Ohana when I first got to town because my bangs needed a trim. They cut them the way I liked them, didn't charge me and were super friendly. The place was clean, professional and welcoming. Two months later I went back because I decided to change up my color. Now this was no bang trim. It was a leap of faith. I went to Anessa and she was awesome! I got ombre color it came out just as I described I wanted and, really, better! I watched hair getting cut and colored all around the salon and cute and stylish hair was being done all around me. It doesn't seem like you can go wrong with a stylist. Still, I recommend Annesa because she's a rockstar. I'm leaving town for good in 2 weeks but I had a great time here. My thanks to you, Fort Collins, is an honest review that won't disappoint. I used to love Ohana. I adore the business manager Cindy.. best smile and attitude anywhere anytime. I had been spending a good deal on service and product... And tipping... unfortunately.. my stylist left..which I understand and support..and I thought I was in okay hands...yet the last three appointments my requests to tone eyebrows were agreed to and forgotten. I had made my next appointment as I did faithfully before leaving every visit...and I logged it into my calendar...before leaving... And when I showed up at 9 am for my appointment...no appointment. The reception desk gal remembered I made it...bc that's what I do...but the other desk gal "forgot" to save it...in the system... So wasting my time at 9 am was not okay. I forgave them and came back...yet this time.. forgetting to do my eyebrows..for the third or fourth time after I had asked for it to be added on...,a standard with my hair appointment for two years with my prior stylist..there ., ... was it for me...final straw. Here is why: I realized I didn't matter to the stylist. I sat down..face grossly swollen from a facial RF proceedure...and I had just given her Xmas gift...belated bc the prior appointment debacle... She asked about what's going on...and I teared up sharing my dog had to have a major knee surgery... appointment continues...and 20 minutes later I am asked .by some one I thought paid a little attention to me... .since I let her do my hair and no appointment is ever under 200$ for me... And asked " you have pets right"?...I said ..yes ..I just told you my dog has to have major surgery.... I realized after forgetting my eyebrows again...and this jag in the conversation.. I don't mean a thing to her. After a couple loyal years...and buying all my product there ..and I mean ALL...never missing an appointment....okay ONCE bc a sudden death...and I made sure to give extra cash to the stylist..bc I know their time matters and a missed appointment is loosing money for them...so I thought I made it up to them..and only missing one appointment in over two years..I think that's acceptable... I learned ..I didn't mean a thing. Realizing in that chair..when I didn't want to go out looking as I did ..swollen and bruised ..but I kept my appointment with her... even though I was awakening that I wasn't important enough to even have the small talk be followed ..well...I won't spend money like I have every 4-6 weeks..to be treated like that anymore. I'm very sad about this. So...I cancelled my appointments there at Ohana and another business I made due to it being the stylist's families business...... I had to leave. It hurt learning I cared more about how I behaved and how I chose to delibrately demonstrate my respect towards them...of their time...and skills .. versus how they cared or truly.... didn't care or value me..for being a reliable paying client.. And truly...making your loyal client feel like crap.. by how you ask questions of me in the chair...about my life.... and I give honest and sad truthful answers.... .and then I am asked.. again ..showing you didn't even listen.... I shed tears and it wasn't important to make a mental note......then no wonder you can't remember to do my eyebrows. You haven't heard me at all. Why should I continue to come and spend the money and more importantly..my TIME...when I didn't matter ? Stinging lesson for myself: doesn't matter what I look like or what I spend.. or if I bring business to their family's business to show my loyalty to the stylist separate from the salon. ... Doesn't matter I'm demonstrating respect for supporting local businesses...... I thought that would count somewhere. If they have a lack in self awareness that they are hurtful in how their crummy treatment actually hurts... I have to go. When you ask me if I have pets...and I tell you my poor dog has to have knee replacement...and I cry... Then not more than 20 minutes later you ask if I have pets...again.. Please. That's some cold hearted not caring enough to pay attention bs. Period. Yeah. I can't return. Im learning that not everyone values their clients. I'll continue to honor mine...and hopefully I'll find a salon where I am wanted enough to actually listen to what I request in service and pretend to care enough to remember the details of the current conversation. I'll send the next round of flowers to myself. I may be too old to matter to these young women..yet I'm not too old that I don't learn new tricks. read more

Was so hopeful about this place. It's been two years since I had an exceptional cut, after moving from WA state. Kimmy consulted with me briefly before my cut and color appointment. Encounters 1: (1-3 happened within a weeks time) The good the bad and the aweful: She didn't schedule enough time to cut my hair. I had to go back a few days later for my cut. The color was good but a little too bright red so I went back (another trip). So for my haircut and color it took 3 trips. The color ended up beautiful and I love it. She did a bad job on the cut though. I have naturally curly hair so you really have to be an artist to cut so it doesn't look boxy. When I told her I wanted her to fix my cut, she referred me to an alternate stylist and said she would be better for cuts. OKAYyyy... I was disheartened and I had already been there 3 times so I waited to reschedule. The salon did nothing to offer a refund for my cut. I did appreciate her willingness to say she couldn't cut my hair correctly. Encounter 2: My sons went to kimmy and another gal for haircuts. We were happy Encounter 3: I took my eight year old daughter to Kimmy. My daughter has wavy hair. Kimmy botched the haircut (badly) and kimmy also burnt my daughters hair with the flat iron. Kimmy made no mention to me about burning my daughters hair. So, the next day following the cut, as I was helping my girl do her hair, I notice there's a handful of burned hair. My daughter said, "oh yeah. she said the iron was too hot." I called the salon. They fixed her hair (that's when kimmy told me she was referring me to another stylist). They didn't offer a refund or apology. I had emailed them telling them about my daughters hair but no one returned my call. I had to call and get them to talk to me. They proceeded to try and set me up appointments for times my daughter was in school. They told me there was no other availability. NICE. But a few days later, I got online and scheduled her cut (outside of school hours) and didn't have a problem find a time slot at all. ...NICE Ohana! So now, a month later, I schedule my son with Ash (yesterday) to get a cut. She butchered his hair! We cried. I called them and asked to talk to the manager. I told them I like Kimmy a lot for color but I was getting discouraged about the trouble we were having. They scheduled us to come in today to fix his hair but instead of keeping our appointment, they left me a VM saying they will refund the cut and they want us to find another salon. WOW. That's what you get when trying to work with a company to solve a problem with their service and consistency. I guess they don't want to improve. I had also scheduled my consult with the new stylist and a cut for my other son. They stated that they cancelled all of our appointments. IN all, I spent over $400 in two months, on product, on cuts and on color. My loyalty to them was not reciprocated. I despised terrible customer service and those companies unwilling to improve or change. Especially when I really extended myself to work with them, as a team. Goodbye Ohana. I really like this place. This is the only salon in Fort Collins that is allowed to touch my hair. I have been at so many salons over the years in this town, and this is the only place that didn't mess up and actually made me look great! It is a very clean and classy salon. When you check in, the receptionists always ask if you want something to drink. I mainly come here to get my bangs trimmed. It is complimentary and doesn't take very long, so it's perfect for my busy schedule. Just an FYI, don't be late for your appointment! If you miss it, you can get charged (which is understandable since they are so busy). The first time I came, I was running really late, and that's when they warned me about their policy. read more

I have never felt more at home in a salon than I do at Ohana! As soon as you walk in the door the wonderful ladies at the front desk are very welcoming and accommodating. The atmosphere is very modern and comfortable. It's clear that everyone who works here enjoys the work they do by the way they interact with every single client that walks through the doors. My stylist is Kimmi and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great quality service. She always makes sure she understands exactly what I want and works with me to get the color and cut that I'm looking for. I recommend Ohana to everyone! Welcoming, great vibe, and really sweet stylists that listen to what you want! Also the girls that work the desk are so much fun. I love seeing them when I go to get my hair done. I absolutely love Larisa. She was recommended to me when I had a "hair emergency." My hair looked like a bright orange/gold car blinker (like a turning signal). Not a good look. She turned it into a beautiful natural blonde in a matter of hours. It only took her one visit within a day of my calling. I recommend Larisa to everyone I know. Such a wonderful, fun, but professional place. I always look forward to my appointments. The best part is that when they finish with your hair, you don't feel pressured to make them feel like you love it. Big changes can be hard to get used to. I chopped off a lot of my hair recently and instead of feeling like I had to reassure her that I was happy, I could tell her if there was something a little off and she was more than happy to adjust it and really collaborate with me. I recently moved here from Texas and I initially tried going to another salon closer to home. I had the worst experience. My color was much darker then I had wanted and I was not happy with my cut. The next day, I looked at salons on Yelp to see who had the best reviews. My search led me to Ohana Salon. I was able to get an appointment with Matthew and I am so happy I did. He was able to fix my color and my haircut. My color and cut are amazing. Matthew took the time to listen to what I was really wanting with my hair. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to color. Ohana staff continues to KILL it! Exceptional artistry and customer service with authenticity. They truly outperform any salon in FoCo. Kimmy is incredibly talented and she is my favorite but I trust every stylist at Ohana. The owners provide advanced training classes for their employees to stay on trend for their clientele. I received probably the best haircut I've ever had from Matthew. He took his time to find out what I wanted and gave me a great cut and style. He is also a cool guy that's easy to chat with while he cuts your hair. This isn't going to be the cheapest haircut you'll ever get, but I think the quality makes it worth it. Matthew also informed me that he'll shape up the neckline between cuts ( I haven't taken advantage of this perk yet), but adds to the quality of the cut. I'm looking forward to booking my next appointment and would recommend others do the same. read more
