From booking online, to the consultation, and (long) hair cut, Julia H. was superb! All the employees were very nice and welcoming; I appreciated the hot passion fruit tea prepared upon my arrival on a cool fall day. I felt seen and cared for! The layout of the Salon gave openness and harmony with earth tone, woodsy elements. I don't mind people being social and going to salons that are buzzing with music or the news, however, I found it very calming to have had my appointment almost on my own in a spacious open air salon. No disruptive screens! During the wash and conditioning at the sink, I was able to relax fully in the chair. It was so nice to sink into my locks being pampered on and soaking up all the lovely moisture and serenity of the salon .... Plus, the option of a hot neck towel? yes, please! Thank you for taking the time to help me figure out where I'm at and where I'm going with my long hair journey. I'm a happy human, especially after figuring out how to blend and style my new bangs after rocking (and growing back out) the micro bangs from earlier in the year. read more

When I booked, I specifically asked to be paired with someone experienced in bangs and wavy hair because I'm really particular about how my hair is cut and styled. Whoever booked me clearly could have cared less. It became pretty clear early on that the stylist was not comfortable with bangs or working with wavy hair, or honestly hair in general and things went in the wrong direction quickly. I showed a photo of full, blended curtain bangs and said I always wear my hair styled and curled. Instead, my hair was parted straight down the middle and cut bluntly across, it honestly started to look like a bowl cut. At one point another stylist had to step in, which made me think it might be fixable, but it definitely wasn't. It made me question the level of experience overall. Even the more senior stylist made a comment along the lines of "I always cut bangs shorter because they grow back quickly," which was frustrating to hear. You don't know how someone's hair grows and she obviously didn't care how I prefer to wear it, and that kind of assumption is exactly how you end up with a result like this. What was hardest was the insincere compliments and being told it "looked like the picture," when it definitely didn't. I was in the chair for almost two hours, and it just kept getting worse. I ended up leaving mid-cut because I was honestly in tears and couldn't keep going. To their credit, they didn't charge me, but I would have paid money to have not had this happen. It's pretty devastating, especially going into my birthday weekend. I felt like I communicated really clearly upfront, which is why this was so disappointing. I just wish more care had been taken to match me with someone who actually had experience with what I was asking for, I'm just not confident that person exists at this salon. I was in search of a new salon closer to Old Town. I'm not ashamed to say my main criteria was a place that I could kick back with a glass of wine and be pampered. I certainly found that at Locks and Loaded. My stylist, Julia, was so conversational and attentive, checking in frequently to make sure I had everything I needed. She was really open to feedback and wanted to ensure I was happy with my cut before I left. The products they used were really nice and made my hair so shiny. The vibe here definitely caters to a younger audience and the stylists appear to be young too. I'm interested to see more of their creative range once I build some trust with my new stylist. The price was a little high when compared with the experience of the stylists, but this is likely a reflection of the amenities and location and won't deter me from going back. read more

I felt like she really listened to what my previous experiences were like and she made her recommendations. I am so happy with what she did. It's exactly what I wanted. The price was very competitive. The salon was very clean and very comfortable. The entire staff was very friendly. The owner brought her super sweet golden retriever and he was adorable. I found Stephanie on insta and felt her work looked really great. I had a consultation, and went in for a 6 hour session. I asked for blue and green hair, with a pop of green. I also wanted shorter hair. She cut the length down to what I wanted, a rough cut but I liked the length overall. As Stephanie had the colors mixed I told her, that color is yellow and she ASSURED me it would be much more green as the colors blended together. She then colored my hair. It looked nice before 1) she cut another 2 to 3 inches OFF of my hair and thinned it so badly, my hair looks fried 2) dried it. I immediately told her the cut was awful. And it was. It still is. I have pics of where the length was, I said ONE more inch AT MOST. My hair looks so terrible. I have no idea what to do. I have an appointment with someone else next week, and I hope it can be fixed so I stop avoiding myself in the mirror. Now, the color. I left, and was so upset about the cut I didn't really look at the color. I left in tears. But holy cow, it was YELLOW, and SO MUCH OF IT. The next day, I messaged Stephanie and asked hey, can we fix this? She said yes, then dragged her feet to schedule me. I'm sorry, but my hair is completely messed up and taking 2 days to schedule... Come on. I didn't need to be seen right away, but she didn't even set a time for next week OR the week after. Plus, she also said, it'll be "super fast." No, no it should not be super fast to fix my hair. The yellow needs to be completely changed, and it is everywhere. The new color will need to be blended as it's laid over the yellow. It became VERY clear, she has no interest in fixing it. If she does fix it, she made it clear she will do it quickly, and I don't trust that. So, my review of this salon? Awful. I've never left somewhere in tears. I've never left after 6 hours and have my hair looked completely ugly. It's ugly. I'm going to have to spend MORE money to fix it. Stephanie never attempted to really fix it, and really had no interest in doing it. I never phoned the manager, so I can't say she didn't try to make amends. But, why would I go back there? Why would I trust any stylist there? I would never recommend this salon. Don't go here, I'm so sad, upset and hate looking at myself right now. read more

Delaney is the stylist I go to, but everyone there is always very friendly and all do great work from what I have observed. I found this online because I wanted my hair done and this salon was the only 5 star one in Ft Collins. The lady I went to did an amazing job on my color but did not mention the price of anything she was doing to me until she was done with it. She told me at the beginning of the appointment that it would be around 250 ish give or take about 30 dollars I thought... NO I had to pay 475 dollars to get my hair done. I have never and will never spend that much money on my hair ever again. Do not make the same mistake I did by getting trapped just because the salon looks cute and the girl is super nice. Madelyn is incredible!!! I visited this salon after a terrible experience at another salon and I cannot be happier with the results. Madelyn TRULY cares about her clients-- she takes her time, understands the client's needs, and makes sure that her client leaves completely happy and confident! I trusted Madelyn from the get-go. She re-did my extensions after improper installation at a different salon (that led to hair loss), and made sure they were comfortable and installed properly.
