I am new to the Hollister community and I would say the shaved ice and the syrups were good I would give that a 5 star rate. Reminds me of this place that used to be in San Jose japan town called banana crepe. The customer service on the other hand was awful. The moment we walk in it was empty but the gentlemen working, not sure if he was the owner or just a staff, was working on an order and he looked at us and didn't greet us or at least let us know he would be right with us. Very nice people my order was very good. They try to help me with some questions. However, the menu is kinda hard to read not quite sure of how to get what I really wanted. I come up to Hollister a few times a year; this most recent time I stopped by this place. There was a bit of a wait because there was only one worker and it was fairly busy, but that's ok! I ordered the melon shaved ice; IT WAS SO GOOD. I love melon flavor so it isn't hard to win me over. But I would say the sweetness level was spot on, usually shaved ice is too sweet. I ordered a large (20oz) chocolate milk shake but they used an ice cream that contained nuts...good thing my nut allergic daughters didn't order it. They ordered the large 3 flavor, Kai's Favorite and Coconut Paradise. Boy, what a disappointment. They didn't add enough syrup so they hit iceberg in the middle. Only the Coconut Paradise had ice cream in the middle but the other two struck flavorless ice. Pretty disappointed with the amount of syrup you get with your shaved ice. I bought 5 of them for my family and each one had zero syrup about halfway through the ice. Ohana's shave ice was the perfect treat for a company family picnic. Kids and adults alike loved their treats, it was so special. We had such a great experience and their staff is so kind and accomodating. You may not know this, but Ohana also offers a coffee bar option for hire. My organization once again hired Ohana for our employee appreciation week. Their staff made custom hot and iced coffee and tea orders for over 150 employees, and it was a hit. They offered four different types of milk (almond, coconut, oat, whole) and were quick to deliver. Disclaimer: I have only been to this shop once... I came in with high hopes and expectations because Ohana was rumored to have the best Dole Whip this side of L.A. County. But I was, ​unfortunately,​ and sourly, disappointed. As a former SoCal Resident with a fond memory of Disney's Dole Whip,​ I looked for a smooth consistency with just the right amount of lip-smackin' tart to keep you coming back for more. What I received here was quite the opposite. The consistency was more frozen than smooth and more bitter than tart. And the wooden spoon I was given to enjoy it with was just awkward and didn't help with the taste. I know that Ohana offers much more than this, and I hope to give them another shot on something else like the ice cream, mixed drinks, acai bowls or bountiful local​ made pastries that they offer. I'm reading the other review that was just posted a few days ago about the lady working there and her attitude and lack of friendliness/customer service. Now let me share what we just experienced but let me also add that we have been coming here for years and loved this place. We walk in and the lady behind the register looks mad and irritated and doesn't say anything. We proceed to order two shaved ices and watch her and the young man making them. As they are in the process, I notice that neither one of them are wearing gloves, yet they are handling the ice with their bare hands after touching the cash register and other areas. Let me remind you that aside from Covid, there is still germs going around and the last thing we want is for our ice being handled by someone not wearing food prep gloves. After debating if I should say anything, I finally told my wife I need to mention it to her, so I asked the worker why they weren't using gloves. She stood there with a blank look on her face and didn't say a word, so I asked her for a refund. No explanation and no apologies whatsoever. Once I got my refund, she proceeds to follow us out and slams the business door shut and locks it. Very professional lady SMH To the owners: Customer service goes a long way and this individual lacks or understands what that means. As for handling the block of ice for the shaved ice and prepping the shaved ice with your BARE hands, that's a BIG no no and completely unacceptable. So disappointed with our visit. We like Ohana because we can walk here with our 4 little kids. We walked in and my toddler was so excited and happy for ice cream she said hello to the lady at the front and she didn't even acknowledge her. I stood right in front of the counter and she did not look up not once from what she was doing to recognize us customers. No welcome in nothing! The kid that scooped our ice cream cone gave us a small spoon of ice cream for two of our cones. All I'm thinking is, I just paid $4 for this little scoop!?! SMH So irritated. Then the lady takes over to finish our order, she makes our last two cones and the serving was maybe 2x bigger then what the kid served me. (No consistency) Maybe they need training on how much ice cream should be served. I also ordered the Mint Sundae of the Month and they forgot the marshmallows sauce. The picture had oreos on top and ours didn't but was told its at the bottom of the cup, but she was able to drizzle a little more on top. I'm upset because we came to Ohana for our family outing and this place felt nothing like a welcoming place for a family. Ohana means family and this place isn't very family friendly in my opinion! Ohana has been our "GO TO" Sunday afternoon/evening treat for the last few months. Generally we order online because it seems to have worked out. One time they hadn't checked for online order before we showed up, but since no one else was there, they were able to put it together rather quickly, so no worries. That was not the case today. We ordered early, between 3:30 and 3:40 and got the message that the order would be ready between 4:07 and 4:22. We showed up around 4:10-4:12 to a man walking out saying "They have not f'ing clue what they are doing in there, it's a sh!tshow." There were a ton of people outside. I walked in expecting that my order would be either ready or about to be finished. Not even close. Walk-ins ordered and got their stuff, but I stood waiting patiently at the pickup point. They even made a Watermelon/Guava shave ice (my wife's order) but apparently that was a messup and they threw it out or something. When I asked where mine was I was told it wasn't ready. About 10 minutes later I asked again when it would be ready- this is past the anticipated time. One of the guys behind the counter said that he was sorry but the online system doesn't go to their registers and they have to check the email- WHAT'S THE POINT of having it if you don't check it? It was clear that no one was checking it because it was too much trouble, but ordering something 30-40 minutes in advance is not unreasonable. A few minutes later, one of the guys comes over to confirm the order and let's me know that my flavor choice, sugar free cherry, was out. He made other offers, but I despise coconut, and orderd a low cal option, because I am on a diet- this has been my weekly treat. I was just pissed for having to wait that long at that point, and not being able to get what I wanted. I asked to just have my wife's order completed so we could leave. Finally around 4:40 I got her order and we left. I didn't get my order. They got my money, including an undeserved tip, as I had pre-paid. I see Erica S. has posted about me in a review below. It wasn't just about waiting. I had pre-ordered. I showed up at the tail end of the time it was supposed to be ready, and it still wasn't. I would expect to wait if I had just showed up- this is why I pre-ordered. You probably missed the part where the "hard working kid" didn't do his job- he told me they didn't check the online ordering system because it went to their email and he "hadn't checked it in a while." Clearly he hadn't because my order had gone in over an hour before at that point. Then they told me the flavor I wanted wasn't available- all this after another 20 minutes of waiting. Second time it was catered at an event our company went to and it wasn't the same it had ice chunks and the guy was a little grouchy but it was really hot outside so I let it pass. I tried again but at the actual shop and had a bad experience so that was the end. But then, I was offered it at work through either Uber or door dash (idk which) and I took her up on the offer. All my coworkers stuff came except mine. She called the shop and they said I can go pick it up later it was on the counter they forgot to put it with the rest.
