Came in for dinner. Everyone was very nice and we were seated right away was good. There is a cute little gift shop area when you walk in. Our waitress Regina was fine. She did have some recommendations but was a little scatter brained. She would forget about our drinks so had to constantly ask for refills. Then she even said she forgot to put in one of our appetizer orders. ‍ The food was okay and good portions and flavor just a little different. The Walnut Shrimp was good. The complaint was that my husband ordered a baked potato with pulled pork with bbq sauce on the side. Then when he got it there was ground pork instead of pulled pork and bbq sauce on top which he was not a fan of. Which was why we ordered it on the side. The drinks were good and atmosphere was good. Not a bad place but would probably order differently.

When you first walk in you do feel this is a party island Hawaii type of environment and it feels very festive and that feeling is the first feeling you get when you go into this place service is okay I wish it would be a little bit more consistent but it could be Case by case basis portions are not overly generous they're just okay and pricing is well the pricing is to be expected in this area.

What a FANTASTIC restaurant!! We discovered it a year or so ago and now, whenever we are in Monterey, we head here. The owner/maitreD is so friendly. He's very accommodating and always makes us feel welcome. Tonight, we got the comfy couch table up front. Awesome. There was a three course deal for the first hour the restaurant was open and we each picked that. We started with the Kona salad which was tasty and loaded with amazing cheese, apples, lettuce, tomatoes, and a very light poppy dressing. Next up were our entrees. I had the walnut shrimp. A TASTE SENSATION. Tempura shrimp with pineapple, broccoli, green onions, and rice. It was the best meal I've had since....well, since the last time I was at Kona! My guy had sea bass and chips and he loved it. We also ordered the Lilikoi butter buns. They were served warm and were tasty and so soft! The third course was dessert and we both chose the Lilikoi (passion fruit) pie. Another taste sensation. Regina, our server, was soooo helpful and nice! She was efficient and friendly. She's a gem! We'll be back again and again!

Ok. It's a Wednesday night. No big night usually for restaurants. Kona defies the trend in a good way. It's 6:00 and it's jammed. First time visit for us and I didn't think I need a reservation given It's in the Del Monte shopping center. Wrong well almost wrong because the owner was there and he turns out to be a great guy who seated us almost immediately. If you've been missing Hawaii just go to Kona and get a refresh. Cute Tiki Gift shop on front leads to large very full bar. Why you ask? The drinks are great gianormous, and very affordable. I had a martini I almost couldn't finish. Haha. Extensive menu ( tons posted on Yelp) offering traditional Island food, steaks, burgers etc. You will find many things to try and share. Portions generous so get 4-5 plates and share them 1 at a time -- your experience will be pretty cool.

Totally enjoyed this Hawaiian/Asian Fusion restaurant after a round at Poppy Hills today. One of the members of our group suggested it and glad we tried it. They have a fairly extensive menu and cocktail lists. Service.was very good, too. Sort of felt like we were on vacation in Hawaii here! I enjoyed the seafood pasta special today and my coconut pink colada drink. The others in my party also enjoyed their salmon and sand dab dishes and cocktails as well. Give it a try. Easy to find in the Del Monte Center mall, about 10 minutes from Poppy Hills Golf Course.

7/11/25 Zach and I decided to get dinner at Kona Steak and Seafood. We didn't realize that it was part of a mall, otherwise we would have drove, but we walked instead (and that was our mistake because that day it was quite cold)... Anywho, our reservation was for 6:15pm on the patio since we had Coco with us. The hostess was super friendly and walked us over to the outdoor patio. Mateen was our waiter that evening and he was also super friendly. Here's what we got: - salmon fillet (for Coco) - kona pupu platter (to share) - szechuan eggplant with tofu (mine) - loco moco (his) - dessert for me: one scoop of vanilla bean ice cream We got the pupu platter made for two people. What I liked about this pupu platter was that nothing on it tasted greasy. One particular standout was the shrimp. Even though it was fried on the outside, it was perfectly cooked inside. The entrees were quite delicious. Coco loved her salmon fillet. I initially set my expectations low because I wasn't sure how the szechuan dish would taste since Kona isn't strictly a Chinese restaurant. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it actually tasted. The rice had butter in it, making it more rich; the eggplant and tofu tasted great. Zach enjoyed his loco moco as well, saying that it reminded him of his first loco moco when he tried it in hawaii. For dessert, I indulged myself on a delicious scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Would definitely return for the great food and service.

Beautiful atmosphere/ interior, but lacking in the island tunes. We heard music, but it was so quiet. We were seated immediately, but the food took very long to come out. 30 mins for appetizers and another 30 for the main course. the food itself was good, but not worth the price. - scrumptious calamari: not what i expected for fried calamari, but it was delicious with the tartar sauce. - baby back rib appetizer: usually comes with 3 pc but the server was nice enough to ask for an extra piece to evenly split between my boyfriend and i. the meat was tender and had a good amount of sauce. although, i wish the flavor hit a bit harder. -rib eye steak: the steak itself was sooo good and i would enjoy it again, however i wasnt a big fan of the bland "roasted" veggies or the cheesy scalloped potatoes which were slightly burnt on the bottom; making it slightly tough to cut with a steak knife.

My experience at Kona was wonderful! My girlfriends and I came here for dinner on a girls trip. We ordered a variety of drinks and food to share. Everything was so full of flavor and delicious. I really liked the steak, scallops, and brussel sprouts. My least favorite dish out of the ones we ordered was the poke, which was a little underwhelming. Service was great. The wait staff were super nice to help us with group pictures. And since we were celebrating my friend's birthday, they gifted us some chocolates at the end on some dry ice which was pretty darn cool. Overall very good experience here and I will come back!

    1944 cocktail and a margarita

Kona was always one of our favorite restaurants to visit in Monterey but we felt it has been slipping a bit the last few times we visited. The interior of the restaurant is a big reason why we like it here, the tiki theme is so fun. The servers are friendly, knowledgeable and caring about allergens. Our most recent visit I asked for a margarita (as the signature cocktails I've had before were unbalanced or too sweet) and I was disappointed that it tasted like pre made mix, could not taste any tequilla. My husband ordered the 1944 cocktail which he enjoyed (its a strong drink!). We each had the chicken teriyaki bowl and learned that the white rice contains dairy so my husband had them substitute for brown rice. The chicken and rice was good, the broccoli was hard and crunchy. Overall everything was OK.

A wonderful spot within the Del Monte Shopping Center. The food was delicious and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. We loved everything we ordered. My personal favorites are the avocado & poke wontons and the lemon meringue bread pudding. I'd come back just for these two items. Service was top tier. Our waitress was extremely attentive and kind. She recommended the dessert when we had decision paralysis. Each party will get a small "dry ice" show right at their table.

Very satisfying and comforting place because the theme is Hawaiian and immediately sets me on a vacay mode. Beautiful bar, tiki style cocktails and a good menu with plenty of choices and very attentive service. Yes, the price is more than other places but you get a better experience with that. The standout was the Kona Mai Tai - with 2 kinds of rum, I think you only need one of these to get relaxed.

Seared tuna, crab Rangoon, and the Kona 1944 (small but mighty drink)!

I have frequented l Del Monte mall for many years and I have drives past this restaurant many times. My fiancé and I finally checked it out the other day and were pleasantly surprised at how lovely the restaurant. Dim lighting for the ambiance definitely provides for a more intimate date setting! I had the crab rangoon, seared tuna, and the Kona 1944 (small but mighty drink)! Edgar was our server and constantly checked on us! Fantastic service!

My cousins I were super hungry after shopping at Dem Monte shopping and decided to stop here for a late lunch! It did not disappoint our hungry tummies! The ambiance when you walk in feels really dim but gets brighter once you see the tropical luau vibes! They even have a shop on the side where you can purchase fun trinkets, books, and plushies! My cousins went for the seafood dishes - I took a taste of the sword fish and mahi mahi and woww did it taste flavorful, light, and melt in your mouth! I got the walnut shrimp dish which was a heavier dish imo, because it's more lightly battered and creamy, alongside with tempura dipping sauce for the shrimp. I would get this dish again because it just had so many yummy flavors where the dish and sauce wasn't too sweet and overwhelming. As for the virgin pina colada, refreshinggg!! if this was a virgin, i'd like to try their "non-virgin" drinks next tiiime and maybe get their steak if i'm in a meaty mood! Would definitely come back again!

Meats are from Snake River Farms which is good to know. The fresh Pacific oysters from Fanny Bay, Canada were outstanding. So fresh and not fishy at all and plus the jalapeño onion mignonette was sweet and so good that I saved it for my steak lol I loved the cap of my prime rib but the middle was a bit chewy like it is with most prime rib. i was really glad that the steak dinners come with the mashed potatoes and stir fry spinach (also glad it wasn't creamed spinach for a change). He enjoyed his ribeye as well. The salts are really interesting and we were told to use it sparingly since the steaks were already seasoned intentionally. He ordered a glass of Emblem and I had Bee's Knees which was pretty syrupy sweet in the way that honey is with a hint of bitterness. We shared a mini key lime pie which was pretty good and exactly what you would expect. The free birthday cannoli is so fun and was presented with a sparkler but unfortunately my least favorite because of the odd tasting candied fruits in the cream. We had an amazing time here and really enjoyed our dining here.

We didn't have to wait for anything that we may want or had ordered. The food however... I am genuinely confused about the reviews I have read because none of them are close to our experience, quite the opposite. Incredible service and terrible food. When you charge astronomical prices you need to actually deliver on that cost and just having good service doesn't cut it. I ordered the Carpaccio for an appetizer and it was just ok, I've had it many times throughout my life because it's one of my favorites so I was disappointed that it wasn't as good as I would have thought. Then about 50 minutes later our entree came. I got the Abalone, which I was over the moon excited about because it is such a rare delicacy and you don't see it served often. I have only ever gotten to try it once and so when I tried the first bite of my meal, disappointed is an understatement. It was overcooked and tough for abalone, and the batter was horrible. It was thick and salty, the kind of batter you would expect at a low end chain diner. The mashed potatoes were obviously an "instant" cook and ready type as though they came from a flake powder in a box or bag. The spinach was decent but also an obvious instant cook out of a bag variety. My guess is that they outsource through a third party that provides a shipping service of certain levels of food items to different restaurants and they use that. It's definitely not made from the source in the kitchen. My husband's dish was not any better. He ordered the steak of which I had a bite, thinking it may be better and my food was just a one off. He was not happy with it being he is a steak aficionado. I found it pretty mid level, not bad, but not better than a mid level restaurant would have, at least it was cooked at the correct temperature. The pricing is the real problem here. The food is not what it should be for the price point. That saying came to mind, "If you have to salt it up, you don't know how to cook". Maybe a new chef is in order, as someone who can cook a delicious meal with very little to no salt, I know it can be done and it's not that hard. We will never be going back based on the horrible food/cooking quality, outsourcing of food products, and the price gouging is just the cherry on top of the insult to the culinary world and those who respect good food and quality dining. Kudos to the excellent service, though it is not enough to attribute for the price of a $200 dinner of instant sides and over salted meat.

We checked in a few minutes early and were told that we would need to wait a little longer for a table with a view. The host that checked us in was very kind and friendly, although I didn't catch her name. The restaurant was surprisingly not super busy for a Friday night although several tables were occupied. It wasn't our first time dining at this restaurant. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. I'm not sure if they were understaffed, but I expected our server to check in more frequently and it took a while to get our check. The dinner menu has several options for entrees and appetizers. We opted to share a crunchy coconut shrimp dish and order separate entrees (salmon & chicken). We also ordered a side of sizzling mushrooms and a hot chocolate lava cake. The coconut shrimp dish was alright, I liked the dipping sauces that were included. But the quantity of shrimp was lackluster and the coconut breading was crispier than expected. The sous vide roasted chicken was good, and the portions were reasonable. I liked the mashed potatoes and the chicken was cooked well, a bit bland but the gravy/sauce helped. They also included 2 pieces of asparagus, which was okay, but one piece was mostly burnt and I was not a fan. The salmon was tasty although the fillet had some tiny bones which needed to be removed. Both dishes lacked a bit of salt and pepper. The sizzling mushrooms were tasty although I thought the portion was too small for $10. We finished our meal with a hot chocolate lava cake which was warm and comforting. The vanilla ice cream and pieces of heath bar crunch were good. It was a bit too sweet, so we couldn't finish it, but enjoyed the dessert for the most part. Our dinner was under $150 after tax and tip, but a bit pricier than expected. It may make sense to order the $61 set meal which includes a starter (soup or salad), an entree, and a mini lava cake. Overall, a mostly good dining experience and the ocean views make the experience worthwhile.

You know how hard it is with a toddler and baby. But we also know the importance of bringing them. We were super excited to have an unbelievable steak dining experience. We were in Carmel for two nights and we researched this place to eat at. Upon arriving with our party of 6 everything was smooth. We put our order in and then what felt like over 90 minutes we were asked if we wanted our daughter's burger to come out first. Which we did. After some time there. The A5 Wagyu came out. The stone plate was pretty cool. As a matter of fact, our 3 year old had her first tasting experience with the A5. She absolutely loved it. And so did we! The actual timeline was sit down reservation at 6:15 and first A5 Wagyu to come out was 40 minutes later. Then a total of 90 minutes before our entrees came out. That was the time stamp on our food pics. Finally our order came out which was a porterhouse we ordered to split for two. It had the spinalus, and all the yummy with it! It was incredible. My friend ordered just the spinalus and said it was the best steak he's ever had. The food was definitely A+. What happened next brought the experience down to a 3 star. We paid for our deposit through the chase reserve portal using Tock prior to arriving for dinner. We opted to utilize our points since we saved way more by doing that. We paid a $300 deposit worth points. So in essence we should've received a bill with a minus $300 on it. When we received the bill, it did not have the $300 off from it. So I asked about it and they said they would take care of it. After a very long time, they came back and said they're trying to take care of it. After more time, one of the servers said to me, if I can pay the full price on the receipt and I will receive a refund in a couple of days. So we did. We didn't want to wait any longer. A couple of days later I sent an email and the owner responded with an email from that night that he was taking care of the situation. Apparently, Tock reservations that do not opt to accept points and cash deposits will have a hard time. And since Saltcraft accepts Tock reservations with only cash deposits, I was SOL. A couple days later I was refunded the points back to my account. The food was off the charts! We had a great time devouring the yummy in all those steaks! The servers and people taking care of us were super nice and seemed to care about our experience. Overall, we felt they could've addressed at the end with the time of order till the food came out with apologies. But there was no apologies. They just brought out the food. Then the amount of time not understanding what was going on with the bill. That could've been addressed. After writing an email to the owner, he apologized that their service wasn't timely. "I'm sorry that our leisurely service style for the meal and the lead time for our steak process wasn't a good fit for your family." That was his quote. We wish them good luck and no ill. They're seared with duck fat which gives it a great buttery taste, allowing you to taste the fatty flavor on cuts of meat that aren't the most fatty. The fries that go with each steak dish are also really good and go with the steaks. We had the cowgirl ribeye and spinellis steak. They were both good, I personally preferred the cowgirl ribeye since it had more fat. For the other portions of the meal, I really liked the sourdough bread they gave us. It tastes freshly made. The mushroom side that we ordered my husband really liked, but it wasn't my taste since it was a bit oily. The toffee bread pudding we didn't really like-it was too sweet, very small, and not very well presented. The cocktails we had were stellar. We had the paper plane, Rio de Janeiro, and Thai boxer. My favorite was the Rio de Janeiro; I was watching it being made and they squeeze fresh oranges into the drink. It was a good combination of orange juice and cream. The Thai boxer was good, although I did think it was a bit watery. The service was great and we had a lot of good recommendations from the staff. The restaurant had good ambiance and visually pleasing interior design. It's located in a shopping plaza with easily accessible parking as well. Note-if you come for your birthday or special occasion, they don't do anything extra like a dessert.
