This truly engages their creativity so they would need to build things within the water to have it travel farther along with balls being shot up in the air. I've been to my fair share of natural history museums, and while this one is compact, it is very modern and packs a punch! It took me a moment to orient myself to the museum layout, but looking back it's pretty compact and I could've easily wandered and enjoyed most of the museum in a couple hours. I especially enjoyed how interactive the earth section was, and this is silly but sit on those rock-looking cushions - they are SO comfortable! The little planetarium area was also very cool, and I would consider seeing a show in there next time! The dioramas are by far the most beautiful/engaging I've seen, and with between the fish video cave and the outdoor animal area, I felt like I also got a mini trip to the aquarium and the zoo. We came to Lorraine Ohio for a girls dance competition, and had an afternoon off. This museum is like no other I've ever visited. We started at the gift shop what an amazing display of artifacts, memorabilia, and Christmas decor, much of it styled out of the 1940s era. While there we had a pleasure of meeting the young lady who played the part of Santa's elf at Higby's department store. She had returned for a reunion weekend with a cast from the movie. The neighborhood looks very much the same the scenes in the movie. The house itself is beautifully restored inside and out. Unlike other museums, this one is extremely interactive. I crawled underneath the kitchen sink and had my kids take photos of me. My granddaughter put Randy's bib around her neck and gobbled away at a dinner plate. I brought my aunt Rose and godmother for a day out. She just turned 80, what a nice way to get out. Even on a 95 degree day, the gardens were beautiful. Sun, shade and the inside garden with the butterfly release. They also had educational tables set up. I think there are a handful of volunteers that do a wonderful job. Julie checked us in and was very helpful. This is a great place to walk wonderfully curated gardens. There is beauty in every corner. I'm definitely coming back to use my membership and enjoy the beauty here. (Just maybe not on a 95 degree day again). Hahaha.

It's a super cool shape and all glass on the outside. Near it is another giant piece of public art, a big hand. Parking can be a little difficult around the museum as it's a pretty walkable area, but there are a few pay lots within walking distance. The museum is 4 floors I believe and has constantly rotating exhibits. They don't collect or keep any pieces which makes each visit a new experience. The exhibits are typically interesting and sometimes they feature local artists. I've attended a few events here which are usually pretty cool. They have a large open space perfect for a dance floor, wedding, or any type party of event. They also have a cool gallery hall where they usually set-up the bar. You have to bring in for your own events of course. But another cool thing is that the museum is free and open to all Ohio residents Friday-Sunday!

Our 10 year old had actually specifically requested going to that museum, and luckily he was too interested in checking everything out and reading about the art pieces that he missed how we were spoken to, how more than one staff member followed us from room-to-room even when they didn't do that too anyone else visiting at the same time. We felt stalked and like we were being treated as criminals or so filthy people who wandered in from the street, intent on stealing our at least dirtying up everything in sight. After being followed around on the third floor, my husband and I had it. We were stressed out and ready to snap, so ended up just taking our boys and leaving. As we were though, those on the first floor were once again friendly, asking our boys if they enjoyed themselves and got to check everything out, which was just such a huge difference from how anyone else there treated us. Looking at reviews online afterwards, it seems like they'll treat kids, adults, couples, families, friends... Basically anyone this way. At first we thought it was because we had kids, but there were reviews I read where adults were being treated just as badly. It's such a shame, because the fact that exhibits change out every 6 months or so could potentially have been a reason for us to come back repeatedly. Instead, we'll just have to plan another visit to the other art museum in Cleveland (which we highly recommend as we've always been treated so much better there, even when our kids were younger).
