He mentioned that whoever did our yard did not do a great job as the grass is a "contractor's mix." We have neighbors who used our new landscaper, and their yard is night and day compared to ours. We had pavers added, and it's not even where we have a puddle when it rains. We also have puddles and soft spots when it rains light or hard in the backyard. I've reached out to the owner of Perfection three times to ask him to come to look at the work done by his team but NO RESPONSE. The other landscaper also mentioned he would not have charged as much ($7K) increase with Perfection. Considering how much money we invested on a nice yard, I would not use this company as their customer service all-around has been awful. I've updated photos to show what it looks like nine months after and when it rains. Update 9/2021: I spoke with Marcus, the owner, after my review, and he provided more insight on how to care for our lawn. The design process was great; Kevin listened to our requests and provided estimates for all the items we wanted to add to our landscaping. Once we down the deposit, communication, and service went down. Kevin was not very clear, and we had to follow up often to find out when our landscaping would get started and if there were any questions. Considering how much of an investment, I'd appreciate more of a customer service-friendly atmosphere. He was sometimes short via email or slow to respond. The foreman, Josh, was very helpful, professional, and communicative with the onsite staff. We had the grass type change three times from hydroseed, something else I forget, to pete moss while the crew was on site. Once the landscaping was complete, the remaining deposit was due; Kevin and the office sent us reminders before it was done, which was annoying. The estimate didn't match the final payment paid as they got the taxes wrong. They did come back to reseed, but the interesting part was that they didn't add soil to the backyard but did so in the front yard. I'm interested to see how this "evens" out.

I had three major considerations: I wanted something very easy to maintain; I wanted native plants and flowers that would attract butterflies; and I wanted it to be enjoyable for all the wild critters who live in our yard. Marc is great - I love his vision, enthusiasm, and wealth of knowledge and experience in the field. He walked the property with me and pointed out what was native and what was invasive (I have very little horticultural knowledge), and how he thought different designs could improve the space in this way or that, depending on how we wanted to use it. He gave a bunch of options and ideas, and listened to what I wanted. It felt very collaborative, which was nice. And he is great at explaining things you don't quite understand. Marc and Matt and Colin, and several more workers whose names I didn't catch, came out to do the job on time on the assigned day, well-prepared. The weather was off-and-on rain, which didn't remotely slow down the crew. They were all working hard all day - you'll see from the photos there was a lot to do. In addition to a full yard cleanup which in itself was a beast of a job, they redesigned/redefined several beds, planted a perfect pollinator garden in the back that I have been wanting there for years, trimmed/pruned trees, shaped hedges, reshaped the backyard, mulched everything, and planted three beautiful young sweet bay magnolias out front. It was a big job and took two days. The crews were great - polite and hardworking, with no complaints even when they were getting soaked. Marc came by each day to meet with me, explain what was being done, and get my input. He also met with and worked with his crew, mapped out where everything was going. He was out in the pouring rain with his crew, unloading trees from the truck and doing whatever was needed. They were an impressive team. I am beyond thrilled with the results of all the hard work they did. And so excited to sit outside this summer enjoying it all. Thank you, Native. Ours didn't seem to know much about hardscaping, even less about masonry. They produced a decent landscape design, but the price was $1600! There are a plethora of local landscape architects that will create a plan for half that amount. We got out at $1600. Having met with three other design build companies, I realize that PG pricing is about double the going rate. The PG would have charged $78K for a full landscape; other local companies are coming in at $40-$50K.
