We booked a guided whitewater trip on the Lower Yough. On the day we went, the water level was higher than usual and the river was running fast. The team was well-prepared and meticulous about safety. Our guide, Joel, was experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly. We had a great ride over fast water under blue skies; although it was exciting, we felt safe. The trip included a stop for lunch with sandwich fixings; after a couple of hours of paddling, we were hungry and the al fresco lunch was fantastic. The lunch stop had a spit where we could jump 12 feet from a rock into the water. I recommend this outfit to anyone, and we look forward to rafting with them again. read more

I called to cancel a reservation over a month prior and only cancelled due to a medical condition. Despite booking my reservation on the phone and never being informed of their cancellation policy (only a 90% refund), I was told that I would not be getting a full refund. They said this is due to their costs associated with my reservation including a $1.50 fee for running a credit card number and because when people call their 1-800 number it costs them money. I explained that I didn't call their 1-800 number. Even if I had, is that my fault that they have a bad phone plan?! I don't think so. What an awful business to steal people's money. Especially when they have no choice but to cancel due to a medical condition! read more

Terrible experience ever! The owner even hung up consumer's phone when arguing about refund. We were late and that's what we didn't expect. Normally, other companies will send you directions info in the confirmation email. They did not! They don't consider how complicated the route is from Pitt to ohiopyle! Additionally, normally companies will reschedule you if you were late immediately! But they said they abide to the policy and no rescheduling! But it's not something mentioned in the policy! It's a FRAUD! Later, tomorrow they said they could reschedule but we were back home. Let me ask! Will you raft with the company that treats consumers like this?! We went to Laurel later that day. They got more staffs and equipment. And they are nice! read more

Mixed review here. 4 members of my family went on the lower and had a great guide and a ton of fun. Myself and my 8 year old reserved a guided duckie for the middle since she was too young to go on the lower. We had a terrible experience. We were driven down to the entrance and left there to fend for ourselves. After a short briefing on how to get off a rock if stuck our driver sent us out on our own and without anyone to guide us. I had to paddle myself and my young daughter completely alone on the river. I am guessing they didn't have anyone else booked this day and just decided the water was low enough and we'd be safe. Or because the gentleman who drove us had just hurt his hand minutes before our arrival and couldn't paddle. Luckily we were ok but it was not their decision to make as I was nervous having only myself and my daughter for 9 miles in the water. SUPER IRRESPONSIBLE of them. read more

Just went this weekend. Highly recommend going rafting in June. The sun was out ~80+ degrees. The water was a cool 60. We happened to have a guide in our raft of 4 ppl. Turned out to be pretty helpful. It cost our group of 8 about $70 each. We took the 12:30 launch. A shuttle bus took us to the drop off point. We got onto the river at 1:15pm. We went through about 8 rapids (with time in between to swim in the cool river) before stopping at our halfway point to eat lunch. The lunch they provided was actually pretty decent: sandwiches and fruit. We ended our day on the river at around 5:30pm and a shuttle bus took us back to our cars. In all I had a very enjoyable time. We went through some quality Class III and IV rapids. And the river had a nice mist above it. There are 4 companies that operate near Ohiopyle. Our guide has worked for all of them. The difference is really how each company navigates the river and rapids. read more

We've used OTP a few times in the past and they've always been good. This time they were superb. We had a somewhat complicated agenda of some of us renting duckies for the Middle Yough and some doing the Lower Yough. In addition to that, a couple people were late, then they wanted to change their plans at the very last minute. All in all, we were pretty disorganized. The folks working at OTP couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. They will definitely be our first choice whenever we have the opportunity to spend time on the river in Ohiopyle. read more

Did a trip on the Upper on July 1st to fulfill a promise to my 17 yr old to let him do it in a shredder. Chaz & Jason made it a VERY memorable trip. As requested, we took difficult & technical lines and they nailed it. Everybody at OTP from the owner to the front desk to the guides to the safety rafters and safety kayakers are top notch and always make sure that the trip is as safe as humanly possible and more fun than anticipated. Myself and my five male co-workers went Whitewater Rafting for 'Office Fun Day' and it was an absolute treat. Outside of the fact that we all got to enjoy each other outside of the office setting, the OTP Staff was awesome and the trip itself was a blast. We took a Guide-Escorted trip down the Lower Yough with a large group on a beautiful sunny June day. I had the unfortunate experience of becoming airborne out of one rather large rapid and floating about 300 yards down the river, but otherwise we were all safe and happy. It's a challenge worth trying if you're into the outdoors and can find a group of four or five people that you genuinely enjoy. Yough on! read more

These guys are the bomb. They totally know what they are doing, I had a fantastic time and never worried once about my 9 or 11 year old having a hard time. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Very professional guides. The river is great, but can be dangerous. A guided tour provides a team of experienced rafters to fish you out if something goes wrong. And all the way they are nice and smiling. read more
