Emma Stone as Olive Penderghast in Easy A

I LOVED watching Easy A at the Playhouse! I remember being in school when the roads and high school shut down for filming! What a nostalgic feeling. We had a great time! I don't know if I will be back as the owner was quite clearly age-discriminatory. Not towards myself, but it's definitely something I noticed and am not a supporter of. Especially in a town where the youth have been waiting for their local movie theater to reopen for over a decade just to get met with that judgmental and egotistical personality. If you support the locals, they will support you.

5 Stars isn't a high enough rating for this place. Best addition to our little village in such a long time. It is so special to be able to see a blockbuster new release in a small setting or a classic movie surrounded by superfans. Just the best experience you could ask for. And, getting to watch the Stranger Things finale, live, and with 100 other fans was just so fun. The staff is accommodating and friendly, and they will wait until the snack bar is clear until starting the movie -- that might mean you have to wait past the advertised start time, but it is so worth it. My advice - get there when the doors open, get a beverage and some popcorn, enjoy the community and see one of your favorite movies!

My husband and I had a great date night at one of the free showings. I love the inside of this theater: it is so charming and warm inside. The sound was on the louder side and there's not a lot of space in the waiting area by the concessions but it's a super charming small town theater.

You can always measure the quality of a town by their commitment to preserving historical structures, especially theatres and playhouses. The Ojai Playhouse is no exception. The exterior is well preserved and maintains the original architecture. However, once inside it is a beautiful, modern theater. Great lighting, seating and sound system. I recently attended a movie screening, followed by a lecture. The whole experience was really enjoyable. Don't pass up an opportunity to attend an event here. Now, on with the show.

Getting ready to embark on an audio visual journey.

The air was heavy as in no air flow quality at all, so if the audience was warm can you imagine what the girls dancing their hearts out must've felt like. I've said this previously about older theaters ...if you want flashy go to Los Angeles, Ojai at heart is a small town that wishes to preserve the history and I for one commend them for that, which is rare because Ojai & I rarely agree on anything. Parking was a nightmare though, I ended up parking 3 blocks away, the show was from 7-10 and by the time I left there was little to know lighting on the sidewalks to make my way back. Thanks to my trusted iPhone flashlight I made it to my car. Most of all I was just so happy to see my Baby cousin perform, it was a fun night.

Of course people in Ojai are pushy and stareat you if they do not know you, so just have to pretend they do not exist. They over sold the venue so they were putting up chairs in the front row, as the muscians were playing?? Just so "special" people who came late didn't have to stand. Ummm someone is playing on the stage? Ojai people live in a world of high drama. Snack truck was out front, pleanty of restrooms. Just get there early for good seats (and parking) and please don't sit in the specially marked seats.

I would definitely come back here to learn about the house and to take the guided tour. I came here with some friends for their first hosted event Sound Bath. A wellness day if you will. From start to finish everything was very organized and thoughtful. The staff hosting the event and the spiritual wellness guide and sound healer was wonderful. Everyone was nice and you felt welcomed. Not pretentious and just very positive and good vibes. We had a nice group and everyone was respectful and on time for the sound bath so it went off without issue. It was a relaxing experience and the grounds were very nice to hold this outdoor event. The birds were chirping, the sun was shining, we found an area with shade, very nice. Very faint sounds of cars in the distance here and there which wasn't ideal but out of their control and once things settled in you really couldn't hear much external noise. After the relaxing sound bath we were offered tea and light pastry snacks. I opted for a water and began exploring the grounds instead of partaking in the refreshments. The grounds are lush and lovely, very zen. Loved the beautiful trees and walkways with small fountains and running water. It was green and pretty all around from the recent rains. Definitely a great location for events and to learn a little SB history. I will definitely do my research and come back again soon.

My 10 year old son started at RTS a year ago after several years at a public school in the county. He was so anxious at the public school: most of the kids there would run out the gate at 3pm wanting to get out of there, with my son being very upset if I was even a few minutes late. His clothes were frayed at the wrist and knees from him chewing anxiously on them, he was labeled the class clown because he was always trying to lighten the mood. Most of the "teachers" kept asking if he had ADHD or another learning disability. We knew that he did not, and so decided to try changing his environment. We started in January (so glad that we were able to start mid-year) and the dramatic difference in his happiness, behavior, sense of connection and community has been VAST. It's such a testament to the incredibly thoughtful space Natasha and Jim Bailey have co-created. The kids can choose what they do each day, with climbing trees or chatting with friends being a perfectly valid activity (there's so much learning in everything.) My son is building things, mastering design and 3D printing, playing 3 instruments without any lessons (and no urging to practice), has created his own small business and is learning entrepreneurialism and team management. All at the age of 10. (What was he learning in the other school? How to survive the day and do what other people told him to do...) The Rock Tree Sky model (or Sudbury model, the first democratic school) isn't for everyone, but we've found it more appropriate in preparing our son for life during this modern time than traditional school was. If you have any doubts or concerns about this model, a great book I was recommended was Peter Gray's Free To Learn. Note that there are no formal lessons, no strictly age-segmented classrooms (amazing), and no "teachers" only "mentors". There are rules of conduct and there are offerings each day that kids can choose from: cooking, carpentry, sewing, gardening, pottery etc. but most of them choose their own adventure each day. Isn't that what we're all doing? Isn't that what life is about?! I can only speak with the utmost respect for this learning environment and warm community. I know that the kids here are destined for brilliant things, with so many supportive people gently guiding and cheering them along the way. Ps. You can apply to the Summit program via OUSD, which is a homeschool program integrated into RTS, which also subsidizes some of the tuition and offers a more traditional classroom experience for a couple of hours a week. It's incredibly affordable compared to other private schools here, but again - it's not for everyone. If your family values self-directed learning (and living), we highly recommend RTS!
