I love Ojai Playhouse. I do not live close and have been eight times total throughout November and December 2025, and it is one of my favorite places to watch a movie. General 1. It feels like a family-owned, small business type environment, and you are always greeted with a smiling face. 2. Reserve as soon as things get announced, because word is getting out and things start to sell out pretty frequently (for example, Marty Supreme). 3. Follow their Instagram and sign up for their mailing list so you stay on top of upcoming showings. 4. They host free screenings and Q&As with directors and actors, which I love to take advantage of. 5. They sometimes show films earlier than you would expect, so keeping an eye on announcements is worth it if you like early screenings. 6. For those commuting from outside of Ventura County, it is an easy, scenic drive into Ojai through Highway 33 (Ojai Freeway). Super easy drive even in heavy rain. Parking 1. Most weeknights and Sunday nights, I have found street parking along Signal Street. 2. I've only been once on a Saturday and it was pretty crowded to park due to tourists, but you'll find something along or around Signal eventually; just more of a walk. 3. There is also a public parking lot about a block down behind the venue, free to anyone. 4. For the most part, you check in at the box office, which is behind the venue. Staff/Inside 1. Some nice seating around the snack lounge to wait in case you arrive early. 2. Staff have been consistently friendly and helpful every visit. 3. Food: The popcorn tastes great. I enjoyed the pizza as well. Theater 1. The theater is not huge, but it is big enough, and you have a great view from anywhere. I prefer to sit at the front because the screen is not that big, but I have also watched from the back and it looked and sounded great. 2. Movies always sound great; Dolby Atmos, heck yes. 3. The seats are pretty comfortable. They do not look comfortable, but they are comfortable.

I LOVED watching Easy A at the Playhouse! I remember being in school when the roads and high school shut down for filming! What a nostalgic feeling. We had a great time! I don't know if I will be back as the owner was quite clearly age-discriminatory. Not towards myself, but it's definitely something I noticed and am not a supporter of. Especially in a town where the youth have been waiting for their local movie theater to reopen for over a decade just to get met with that judgmental and egotistical personality. If you support the locals, they will support you.

5 Stars isn't a high enough rating for this place. Best addition to our little village in such a long time. It is so special to be able to see a blockbuster new release in a small setting or a classic movie surrounded by superfans. Just the best experience you could ask for. And, getting to watch the Stranger Things finale, live, and with 100 other fans was just so fun. The staff is accommodating and friendly, and they will wait until the snack bar is clear until starting the movie -- that might mean you have to wait past the advertised start time, but it is so worth it. My advice - get there when the doors open, get a beverage and some popcorn, enjoy the community and see one of your favorite movies!

My husband and I had a great date night at one of the free showings. I love the inside of this theater: it is so charming and warm inside. The sound was on the louder side and there's not a lot of space in the waiting area by the concessions but it's a super charming small town theater.

You can always measure the quality of a town by their commitment to preserving historical structures, especially theatres and playhouses. The Ojai Playhouse is no exception. The exterior is well preserved and maintains the original architecture. However, once inside it is a beautiful, modern theater. Great lighting, seating and sound system. I recently attended a movie screening, followed by a lecture. The whole experience was really enjoyable. Don't pass up an opportunity to attend an event here. Now, on with the show.

Getting ready to embark on an audio visual journey.

I was toying with the idea of doing a private dance class, and she was eager to help, but unfortunately the timing wasn't quite right. In the end, we decided to attend the Beginners Bollywood Dance class together. I could not believe it was only $5. If I lived in Ojai, I'd be there every week, and telling all my friends about it! The class was energetic, approachable, fun, and a great work out. We had SO MUCH FUN. And Isha was an incredible instructor. She helped us take some cute pictures before the class began, and allowed our group to do the choreography together just us so we could record it. I cannot recommend Dance Ojai highly enough!

Rita is so knowledgeable about the tasting notes and origins of all their wines. She always makes us feel at home while we're enjoying glorious wine selections out on the patio. They offer an accessible wine tasting experience that's enjoyable for both wine enthusiasts and a first time wine tasting encounter. Majestic Oak features Rhône varietals such as Syrah, Grenache and a lesser known Cinsault. We are members of their wine club because of the quality of their wines and the value. The rich reds that we selected were sourced from local Ojai vineyards as well as the best of the Santa Barbara County growing regions. They also offer beautiful white wine varieties that call for a summer picnic or garden party. We loved the Bruce's Rose that celebrates their mascot, Bruce. Highly recommend for the quality of their wines and for the wine tasting experience.

If you know me, then you already know... this is my happy place…read more I don't even know where to begin because this place has become so much more than a tasting room to me. Majestic Oak is my happy place. Seriously. The second I walk downstairs, I instantly relax. I don't know what it is... maybe it's the red umbrellas, the beautiful greenery, the cozy little patio, or just the overall atmosphere. I close my eyes for a second, take a deep breath, and it honestly feels like I've escaped into my own little world. I come here about once a month, and there's a reason I became a wine club member. Yes, the location is absolutely beautiful, but let's talk about the wine... every. single. one. has been amazing. I'm usually more of a red wine girl, but even their whites have surprised me. They're crisp, refreshing, and just plain delicious. I honestly haven't had a wine here that I didn't love. But what really keeps me coming back is the people. Rita deserves the biggest shout-out. It's not just that she takes amazing care of us every time we visit. It's her personality. Her knowledge. Her passion for the wines. She makes you feel like you've been friends forever, and somehow every visit feels even more special because she's there. She has this way of making everyone feel welcome, and that kind of hospitality is something you can't teach. For me, Majestic Oak isn't just somewhere to drink wine. It's where I go to slow down, breathe, laugh, and enjoy life for a little while. It has become my home away from home, and I honestly can't imagine a month going by without stopping in. If you're anywhere near Ojai, do yourself a favor and visit. Come for the wine... stay because you'll probably fall in love with everything else too. One last thing... we stopped by today, as usual, and Kristy took such incredible care of us! She was so welcoming, attentive, and made our visit just as memorable. It reminded me that the amazing service here isn't just one person; it's the culture. Every visit leaves us feeling like family, and that's something truly special. (Oh... and if you see Bruce, make sure you say hi! He's the sweetest little furball and just might steal your heart before your first sip of wine. ) Thank you, Majestic Oak, for creating a place that truly feels... Majestic.

Great local artwork all around the tasting room and a fun painted upright piano. Our tasting host was very friendly and provided short tid bits of information of each wine. My husband did the $19 four wine pour tasting and I did the $36 Full Monte pouring of their entire eight wine tasting. I enjoyed my first Grüner Veltliner white wine, 2024 Grunay (a hint of sweetness yet still crisp to the tongue and a light body). I also enjoyed their Tempranillo red wine, 2023 Taransay (well balanced medium body, slightly on the drier side but not too much, and had some nice tannins), this is the full glass I ordered after the tasting. I was not a fan of the 2021 Soay (Red Blend of 70% Granache, 15% Petit Verdot and 15% Petit Syrah) - I really wanted to like it as I typically like this blend, however there was a strange aftertaste that reminded me of water that was rinsed in dried rice. From 4PM - 6PM on Saturdays and Sundays, there is a local musician. Today was a singer-songwriter who played both acoustic and electric guitar and was accompanied by a lovely bass guitar player.
