It's very charming and adds a little edge with how barbaric some parts of the attraction are but it honestly was so fun and unique. I heard they're planning to demolish this style of playground (lots of blisters and spiders honestly, this place hasn't been well kept in a while and even has mold on a lot of the planks.) I will still be very sad to see it go. :/ I can see why this might not be such a major attraction to children for the lack of colors and honestly it looks a bit daunting and medieval but what's without a little fun with something unusual? I'm glad I got to experience it at least once before it goes and at least I made a memory with it now. Lovely view too of the lake and so pretty and quiet.

Stunning views but dangerous. You know, The Ocean, Mother Nature. Just be careful. We stay at the hotel across the street from the park and like taking walks that end up here at the park. It's hard to pull yourself away from the beauty of the waves crashing against the rocks. There is a couple benches and a picnic table to sit at but no bathrooms or B.B.Q. Pits. Remember, it's a State Park in the city of Depoe Bay, that means "No Smoking."

I've seen whale spouts -some 10-16 feet high- almost every time so I know they are out there. When whale migration is in full swing, there are usually volunteers from the Whale Museum in Depoe Bay or a Ranger walking around answering questions and sharing their binoculars. If you see one, take advantage of their vast knowledge and listen. The seagulls & pigeons are always hungry and will wait patiently while you decide to do the right thing and throw them a piece of whatever you're eating. This is one of the best places in Oregon to see ocean-going birds like shearwaters, albatrosses, grebes, pelicans, loons, & oystercatchers. I've seen osprey and bald eagles fly over too. It's pretty windy most of the time but that never stops us from picnicking at one of the many weathered picnic tables set up around the parking lot. Even when it's raining, we pick up a snack at one of the many eateries nearby and eat in the car while the wind howls outside. Parking has never been a problem and it's FREE. There are real flush toilets and the bathrooms are fairly well maintained as far as I've experienced. I've never noticed any "strange characters" hanging around but there are lots of people with dogs and visitors from out-of-state enjoying the view. I like to take my sketchbook and do some quick drawing when I can. I've also been known to pull into a parking spot facing the water, roll down a window and take a nap. There's nothing better than the sound of the waves to lull you to sleep. It's worth the time to stop and check out the view, you'll never be sorry you did.

One can hear the birds singing and also the ocean softly roaring. Some boardwalk bridge areas. Lots of side street parking. Good signage. Lots of benches to rest at. No restrooms or water fountains. Located near the bridge. Bring bug spray when it's buggy season.

We really enjoyed this trail!…read more This short loop is about 1 mile, with a couple of other connecting trails along the way. We chose to start the loop to the left, and it seemed average for the length of the initial straight-stretch. But as soon as the trail turned and headed up it became so much more entertaining. The path winds through and around gorgeous old trees and provides fabulous root-art on which to walk. It's a fun trail with great shade...twists and turns, ups and downs. The footing is definitely uneven much of the way, so you've got to watch where you're going, but that just adds to the enjoyment for me. There's a decent amount of pull-off parking right at the trailhead. I didn't really have high expectations as we just happened upon the trail. But I was very pleasantly surprised...happy accident!

Great hike that's only about 3 miles round trip. Includes a suspension bridge and little waterfall…read moreat the end. It's easy enough to do with kids about 5 years of age. Going back to the car afterwards is a bit more challenging though because elevation. At the end, you can climb down to get closer, but it's a bit too technical for the kids. The drive there is interesting with lots of windy roads. Make sure you route your trip on GPS there and back while you have signal. I lost all signal up there.

Such a magical place to visit and a fairly easy hike to get to the waterfall and suspension bridge…read more- it also helps it starts at a slight decline and is shaded by old growth trees. You'll see little chipmunks, a banana slug or two, streams, ferns, and beautiful unspoiled nature that Oregon is known for. The suspension bridge is cool to walk on, and not too scary (unless someone is rocking it!) and the waterfall is breathtaking. It's not super crowded but you'll encounter people along the way and back. On the weekends parking is a bit harder to come by at the lot, but I waited for a bit and got a spot. You can pay en route to the trailhead at a spot with a QR code ($5 for the day pass) where there's some reception. There's also one at the trailhead but not sure of reception there.

Nos. 2-7 meander out and into the humid park air. No. 1 returns, and No. 2 heads for the Bucket. Then No. 3. Nos. 4-7 stare at each other with icky faces, and when all have returned with Purelled hands, we stand in a circle next to one of the cars. Quiet. Awkward. We jump from face to face and then stare at our shoes. The other car, with its door open, and we listen to Stevie Nicks. A tan and perky lady walks by...she's inevitably going to share the germ-invested fate of 1-3. "How's the Honey Bucket?" she asks, and laughs. "Well," says No. 4, "it's always better with Fleetwood Mac."
