Seal rock was listed as a few places with tide pools on our drive up the coast. We ended up stopping here early on the morning which thankfully we did because when we left there were cars waiting for stalls. The park has bathrooms and benches to eat at right off the parking lot. The trail to the beach isn't paved past the look out so you will need to be able to traverse the rocky hill to get down. But there were a lot of tide pools just not with many things to look at in them. We explored the beach for about an hour with the cold wind and fog. My husband found a clam in the rocks which was cool. As we were leaving a woman was writing on the beach with a large rake. Pretty cool to see once we got back up the hillside. read more

We loved it here. It was a nice drive from Depoe Bay and Seal Rock was filled with beautiful views. Not a lot of parking spaces but we found a spot and walked the short distance to the view point deck and wow, what a view. Ironically, we didn't see a single seal. That was fine because the view is amazing. The day we went was sunny but cold and windy. I could have stood there in awe for some time but my wife was definitely cold. We'll come back again on a warmer day with the family. read more

Seal Rock was a great experience. There was a Ranger with a spotter telescope available and helped us see baby birds nesting on the rock face. Thanks , that was a new thing for us. read more

This is an awesome Oregon beach! Sandy, yet rocks for tide pooling. Look up the tide table before you come so you can be there at low tide. Unfortunately, these aren't the best tide pools I've seen, but there was a decent array of life. We were also able to see seals on a rock off the shore about 100 feet or so. There are many types of birds flying around and fishing in the water. I'm no bird expert, but I saw a few pelicans and a ton of Seagulls, among others. Some reviews said the trails is very steep, but it was a paved gentle slope most of the way and then a not too steep rocky part. It wasn't an issue even with a toddler and baby in a carrier. read more

This state park has a gorgeous view to Pacific Coast. This park located at mile marker 151 of Pacific Coast Highway 101. This is a place has rock shape like elephant back. Many of the sea gulls rest on top. The view area allow you to see many rock that situated here. If you just stop at the rock, you may have missed a lot of things. I did not take the trail to the beach. I saw many has post the sea creatures like star fish. The top of the rock view is beautiful. The fence is preventing people fall off the cliffs. I like the multi island rock view shape like shark fin. read more

A great beach spot! Good tidepooling and lots of beach space. Parking lot has restrooms and about 15 spots. Can get full on weekends. Nice viewpoint after short walk through shore pines and salal, then a steep hill takes you down to the sand. Some big cobbles at bottom of path will be hard to navigate for those with hip or knee troubles. So many tidepools! Please enjoy but don't move any organisms. read more

TIDEPOOLS!!! Gorgeous stretch of beach and a must see. There is a trail to walk down to the beach to see the pools, or you can stay up above and still catch an amazing view of the surf. Beautiful beach and rocks, one named "elephant" and a group called the castle. Sea lions barking and the wonder of waves breaking over the rocks. Not many agates, fossils or tide pools. Rocks at the south end are escellent for fishing. The ADA is nil. I have gone from being agile to needing aid. It's a wonderful subject for photography and other artistry, too. Small pieces of driftwood for craft projects are plentiful. read more

My mom has had a knee replacement and her other knee isn't doing so great but she made it down and able to explore these tide pools with us. At the bottom of then path you'll find 15-20 feet of washes up rock - that seemed to be the toughest part to navigate for her. read more

A lot of the stops and waysides along the coast don't actually have a beach to walk on. This one has a good stretch of beach to walk along, there are tide pools at low tide and interesting rocks to climb on, and a chain of rocks further out that feature dramatic spray and tiny waterfalls. There are some pretty unique plants as well. The one that looks like a small palm tree that is so stuck to the rocks that it gets absolutely pummeled by surf and comes out looking as perky as ever. This is also one of the few places to see actual sea grass growing. It's long and green and flows and swirls with the waves in these big pools. It's mesmerizing! It looks like mermaid hair and if you don't watch it, you might just find yourself jumping in after one. Also, look out for the iridescent seaweed. I couldn't believe it when I saw it shimmering under the water. I took a video but it just isn't the same as seeing it in real life. The giant rock itself attracts a lot of shore birds that are fun to watch. This is a happening beach in the summertime and it provides a lot of drama in the winter. There are public restrooms in the parking lot here (further north than the first little turnout). There are also picnic areas but they're up top, not on the beach. read more

Fabulous little beach with great tide pools! The parking lot is pretty small, so you have to time it just right, but it is worth the effort. The beach is accessible via a beautiful wooded trail that leads to the rocky cliff pathway. (It might be a bit steep for some.) Once on the beach there are many things to see! We were here in late June, and the seals had left the area, but this beach offers up many great tide pools... especially the south end of the beach near Little Creek. It is easy to get caught up in climbing and exploring the rocks and tide pools on the south end, so be very cautions with the tides if they are headed in. The park at the top has great day-use picnic area and bathroom facilities. The State of Oregon does a wonderful job of keeping their parks clean and up to date! read more

Beautiful piece of scenery along the Oregon coast. Bring your camera and your dog and take a walk along the beach watching the waves crash against the rocks. During the summer this is also a nice place to sunbathe or picnic. This natural beauty is best seen at low tide, as high tides can and will engulf most of the shoreline. Those with limits on climbing or those that have trouble with rocky terrain may take in the oceanscape from the upper deck. Unless I missed a section, it seemed to me to have one way in and one way out and that was via a very steep path that involved careful footing over some rocks at one point. It's not a huge section of beach, but nontheless a great meeting ground for a couple hours and the perfect place for a picnic! read more

You want gorgeous rocks and geological bursts through the seafoam? -- this is the place. You want sandy beach for those much talked about romantic seashore strolls? -- this is the place. You want the potential for admiring the flora and fauna of sea-life? -- yep. this is the place. I didn't see seals today, but I've seen pictures of them here, sunning on the rocks and playing in the water -- so I assume they were just on coffee break or something. What I did see was a gigantic rock -- maybe 3 stories high -- full to the brim with sea birds. I mean -- not dozens -- but more like hundreds of them. Huge white and gray birds with their little snippy beeks (bills?) -- making enough noise to be heard hundreds of yards away! The grey rock looked like it was covered in snow! As I am not much of a sea-plant person yet (have to see if there's a field guide or something) -- I have no idea what kinds of plants are here -- but it's all green getting there, and then -- beautiful, colorful, and interesting takes over. This really is one of the most diverse spots I've stopped. It's peaceful and uncrowded -- at least on a weekday afternoon in the off season, so there's time to discover. And an amazingly beautiful view. Spring break in this part of the world begins next week, so I know I won't be doing much park-hopping then (I can only assume crowded beaches are not my kind of place -- I won't be testing that theory) so I spent a lot of today looking out at the waves and beyond -- trying to catch a glimpse of some of the 18,000 California gray whales they say are on their way from Mexico to Canada for the summer. I saw one splash and bit of tale I think might have maybe could have been possibly a whale fluke -- maybe. I'll go back after spring break. Evidently those grays love the tiny bay shrimp that dwell in these sheltered areas of the mid coast.... so much that a few thousand of them hang around all year long rather than joining their kin's migration -- which is why there are so many whale researchers living here year-round, and so many charter services that specialize in showing the big grays off to visitors. Not a bad life for these Oragonian whales -- adoring fans AND shrimp.... This state wayside park is certainly worth the stop. --Very awe-worthy bit of US coastline. read more

As a hawaii girl I know what beaches are like and this is the best place to go near newport with great tidepools! If you go during extremely low tide there is a pathway that opens up that has all sorts of nideria, shrimp, fish, echinodermata and more. It's a marine biologists paradise. Even without the tidepools I would recommend coming here for for the sunset. It's breathtaking with the outlines of the rock formations read more

A beautiful park with easy access to the beach. There are very easy trails to the cliffs for excellent photo opportunities of the beautiful shoreline. The highlight of this park is the massive rock called the Seal Rock. This park is completely free for everyone. read more

After stopping at every other rock or turn out point along the oregon coast this place is no different than the other stops. I initially thought seal rock would be some huge rock in the ocean that has a bunch of seals bathing in the sun like a bunch of fatties. The rock, however, is shaped like a seal! Pretty awesome. You can climb between the rocks at your own risk. I was competing with some douche bag as to who would go out the furthest. He won. I am a fatty newb. pwned. read more
