He lived 7-8 more years. It wasn't the best time in his life and he was tethered to oxygen throughout, but he never did have to go back into the hospital again, miraculously enough. Heart surgery in the 1980s was far more primitive than it is today! It was still largely in an experimental phase that started in about the 1950s. I will also add that doctors of the 1980s were working on a lot of patients who did NOT live healthy lives - a lot of people still smoked and ate terrible diets. I am sure Dr. Floten is happily retired now after many years of service to Oregonians. Richly deserved.

We went to Stanford and also Columbia Mo. For second opinions. Always returned to Oregon. All three of our kids were part of Dr. Starrs clan as we called them. Necol is the only one still with us. When I didn't hear from anyone, I called the next Tuesday morning. They didn't put in the order until the Friday afternoon after my appointment. I ended up calling the nerve study facility myself. I was told they had NO appointments. They couldn't schedule anything for me. I called the Dr's office the next morning and spoke to the person at the front desk. Her response was "yes, that can happen." I asked what to do at that point, she asked me to hold, came back on the line and said there was nothing they could do. WHAT?! So, that's it? No suggestions for next steps? When asked, she said there was no alternative for a nerve study facility. She didn't offer to speak with the Dr. - nothing. I asked that she ask the Dr. if he had any other suggestions or I would have to find another Dr. She said she would check with him. That was over a week ago and I have not received any communication from Dr. Van Allen. I would not recommend going there.

My medical records were FAX'd to the wrong number 3 times. When I was finally able to get the staff to verify the fax number and the clinic finally received the referral, the staff called the clinic and told them I no longer wanted to be seen. It took from Aug. 10th to Nov. 29th to be seen by a much needed doctor. The clinic has constantly denied any of this. I wouldn't trust them or Dr. Meigs with the time of day. I believe there are reasons for this clinic remaining an independent clinic. They have messed up my medical records so bad that I am having trouble finding a new PCP.

My friend has prostate cancer and this doctor simply sent him a letter telling him that he won't see him anymore with no explanation. He had the further nerve to post this letter to my friends online chart, presumably to help other doctors blacklist him. The real problem? My friend wanted to see the doctor when he did not have an official appointment. Most Doctors do want to help find cures and/or help heal. This one apparently only wants patients who don't have any major problems.

After a few minutes Kellogg and the anesthesiologist and another Dr. walked in and Kellogg said the won't let me do the surgery because I was to big. Really are you kidding. Since then I have never heard anything from Dr. Kellogg not even a phone call. I was left helpless in tremendous pain. This man could care less what happened to me. I am in so much pain I can barely walk. A woman from his office named Jackie just blew me off she claimed she sent my case to OHSU you and marked it urgent. This of course was more BS. Nothing was sent marked urgent. I spend my days in so much pain I can barely function. I have to work to support my disabled wife. I am not sure what to do. If anyone is considering going to see this Dr. Kellogg remember he doesn't care about people. He has never picked up the phone to see if I am even alive. I have no quality of life and I have no idea how much longer I can go on. If anyone knows a Dr. that really cares about people I would really like to know who they are. This Dr. Kellogg is obviously not the kind that cares about you or your pain.
