The prop choices were varied and the photographers were very experienced. We came in on a rainy day with 2 big huskies thinking it would not be busy, but it was packed. They took their time with us, were great with the distracted dogs and the pictures were wonderful. We came back 2 days later because we forgot to use our coupons (I guess the dogs were not the only ones distracted) and they were super accommodating even though we didn't have our receipts AND when we tipped the young girl cash, she placed it into the common tip jar. There is a lot of competition for photography in that area, but I would definitely go back to Abe's. read more

When we were selecting photos and discussing pricing, I was told the "I Want it All Digital" Package would be $199 + $100 for the additional breakout sessions. Additionally we would receive a 10% military discount before tax was added. However my bill has a random charge of $100 added and then another random charge of $118. So what was supposed to cost us under $300 cost us over $500. The pictures were GOOD. We would've paid $500 and thought we were getting a good deal, but we don't appreciate the blatant lying in regard to the cost. Feels like a bait & switch. I do want to compliment the photographers. We had a large group which is hard enough, but 2 of the young men and the small child were autistic. It really takes a skilled professional to get them all in place and looking at the camera at the same time. Thank you for such wonderful pictures. read more

Such a great experience! I have never taken these old time photos before but my 11 year old insisted we do this. This location seemed very professional so we picked this place. We were told that there is no sitting fee but we should spend at least 10 $ per person which as 40$ in our case. That is what I was planning on spending so we went in. WE had to choose from Gangsters, Titanic, Vampitre, Civil War or Wild West themes. WE chose the Wild West. The costumes are super easy to put on since they just tie them in the back. Scarlet was a great sport. I'm glad we got her. She had a great sense of humor and took her time helping us get dressed and posing for these amazing photos. Lin helped us choose the photos and she sowed us what the pictures looked like with color. They were priceless. We got an 8 x 10, a package and a couple 5 x 7. They were amazing photos. Scarlet said that they keep the photos in their database forever. Just hold on to your receipt. I can't wait to do that again, next year. read more

We came in and were helped by this very nice girl helped us picked out outfits and said it would be maybe a 30 min wait due to the large ground that was ahead of us . No problem after waited almost 40 mins . Anther ground was let ahead of us they stated they were there first which made completely no sense as we were there dressed and waiting before this group even came out of the dressing room they were still looking at hat accessories while we were waiting for the first large group ! A total 5 star experience! Staff was kind, everything moved along quickly-- which is perfect when you're there with three kids! The costume assistants presented outfits and managed my daughter and her friend picking the same dress beautifully by whipping out another that suited the other perfectly! They didn't bat an eye as our son decided between a dress or a suit and when he opted for a suit, they pulled out a perfect one! The finishing touches of hats and props were perfection! We went for the Titanic theme and they had a bunch of fun with it! This really was such a fun experience and we left with such fun photo keepsakes! We'd 100% return and do this again! read more

This place is so fun! They have so many different option of costumes to choose from including saloon, gangsters, moonshiners, and pirates to name a few. We stopped in with our family of 5, two adults, three kids(1,2, and 6) and they were able to provide a costume for everyone. They have many different photo sizes and packages to choose from. As well as the mats and frames to place your purchased photos in. There were two ladies working when we stopped in and they were both fun and friendly. They were great with my kiddos and made sure we had many photo options to choose from. We knew heading into the shop we would be purchasing at least one photo. I appreciated that they did not give me the "pushy" feeling when it came to our purchase. We did get multiple photos though. We will definitely be returning here for our next Old Time Photo session in Wisconsin Dells. read more

Went to Old Abe's with a group of 7 guys in an attempt to get the goofiest photo we could. The staff was very accommodating to our jackassery. For example, they usually have you do a specific theme (e.g. old west, gangster) but we wanted to do a mix and match. We had one guy as a native american chief, one gangster, one old time baseball player, a pirate, a cowboy, a civil war general, and a dude in a dress. And of course we were all sinking on the titanic. Most of the staff was nice enough, but the guy taking the picture seemed like he really didn't want to be there. Also the lady who was trying to explain the pricing options was kind of dumb. She was confusing herself trying to explain things... fortunately I had checked the website ahead of time and new what was up. Anyway, of the old time photo places on the main Wis Dells drag, this one seems to be the cheapest and have the most variety of sets. I recommend them. read more

What to say but we love it here! The photographers and staff are so accommodating and efficient! Most importantly I have always been extremely satisfied with the product they produce! We ve been transformed in 15 minutes into vampires, native Americans, gamblers, moonshiners and today into their 2021 debut of fantasy mermaid pirates!!! Arrived with my family of 4 on a Wed. afternoon. Sue (Manager / 23 years on the job) spent almost 2 hours with us. She was very personable, professional, and experienced. She took her time with us, was very patient, and had some great wardrobe and posing ideas. I don't know what the experience would be like on a busy "on season" weekend, but we certainly hit the jackpot with our experience, and will return in time. Look to spend between $150 - $250 for a decent amount of photos printed out, matted, and packaged nicely. Don't forget to tip for great service as well. Thank you Sue! read more

Always a traditional stop for the family while we are in the Dells. Their pictures and props are always good with alot of selection of backgrounds, dress up clothes and themes. Prices are high but you know that going in that you will be paying 30 bucks for a package so should not be a surprise. read more

Well they made me look great! I didn't understand from the advertisement that they provided costumes so I showed up in my hot new bathing suit. *shrugs* Problem is, I showed up at the wrong place. Apparently, there are 4 of these things all run by different owners, on the same street, and within walking distance. I walked into the one on the same side of the street as this one and didn't like the pricing (They said it's because they have real backgrounds not backdrops but I've been being photographed with paper backdrops since I was a baby so why change now?!?). More than that, I didn't like the fact that their bathtub I wanted to be photographed with was in such plain view you could see it from the street!! The 217 location had the tub in the back which provided me privacy from random street walkers but did nothing to shield me from the random teenage boy whose job title there appeared to be "Official Gawker". Lesser of two evils, I took my chances. They don't really pose you ... the whole tilt your head, lift your arm doesn't happen. Of course, most people go there for FUN pics not the professional, ready in 5 minutes, life portraits that I went there wanting! They keep your photos on file forever so when I'm fat and gray, they will hold the proof that I was Supa Bad back in my day! They keep your photos on file FOREVER which means anyone may walk in and see your silly pics hanging on the wall, retrieve them, and surprise you when you're sitting on the Ellen Degeneres Show! The people were very friendly and helpful though obviously well versed in the art of up-selling! I left with one 5X7 that is so cute I plan to enlarge it and put it onto canvas, and 4-4X6's that were a bonus she offered after I agreed to the 5X7. The bonus sheet is approx. $7 (WAY cheaper than ANYTHING else you can buy from there) and it is actually 4x6 copies of all your poses. I spent about $35 and I have some classic, keepsake photographs. I'm happy and I would consider going again to try new backgrounds and costumes. read more

The staff was so accommodating, and they definitely have enough examples hanging up in front to showcase the different backgrounds and costumes they have. There's no sitting fee, so pricing for the photos is a little more expensive, but so worth it for a souvenir! The costumes are open in the back and tie up to accommodate a bunch of different sizes. For the guys, a lot of the costumes fit right on top of what they're wearing. Awful experience! Go to one of the other 3 old time photo shops on the strip. So there was a large group ahead of us. No problem. We got dressed and waited. We wanted an updated family old west picture & we're super excited. Our turn finally came & the young girl was ok. We made numerous poses & had some individual shots. We changed & went to review our pics. Well it turns out they never put in a disk, so we had NO photos. Then the young girl turns rude and says, "You gonna have to get dressed again and do these over." Like this is our fault! I tell her no, we have already been in here 1 1/2 hours and we gotta go. She never said she was sorry & gave no apologizes or any concessions! Rude & unapologetic! Glad your business is so good that you can turn business away. What a waste of time! read more

My mom really wanted a family portrait done here when we were in town for our family Christmas. The photographer was extremely helpful and patient with my loud and rowdy family. He took his time to make sure our pictures came out really well. The only issue we had was how pricey the packages get once you add this and that at the end. I just took my moms 9 grand children to be photographed in the western theme. The woman and man that helped us (I believe they were owners) were just so so good with the kids and patient. They were amazing. It's the customer service that brings me back here when I come to the dells. I got my photo taken as the Titanic theme when I was 12 and now I'm 31 and still come. Every staff member was very friendly & helpful. They even let us take two different sets of pictures. We had an awesome time!!! The best part was that everyone working there seemed to really enjoy their job and the one young man who helped us frame our pictures at the end made this experience an awesome memory. They have 8 different backgrounds (maybe more) including the cemetery and steam punk which the others did not have. No sitting fee and loads of coupons available. The costume and background choices were great. The staff was not. We felt rushed though no one else was waiting. We were quickly put into poses and were not given prop choices. I said I did not like the position they put me into but they just started snapping the photos anyway. No time was given in between shots. They just said, "smile," then look this way or that way. It was over in less than a minute. I was terribly disappointed in the results. They were all upward angles in which no one looks good. They said we could retake them (in such an obvious way that they didn't actually want us to). The other person I was with really wanted to get a few of the shots so he bought them. Almost $70 for 4 unflattering pictures. I will never return to this shop. read more

I'm a sucker for old fashion photos. This was my first time here and I wasn't sure what to expect since we had a group of nine. We walked in and we were quickly greeted by a friendly staff. They explained that there was no sitting fee but we would have to spend at least $40 in pictures (this changes depending on the amount of people you have).The two young ladies were friendly and patient. I know it can get chaotic when your trying to dress 9 people! They have a large variety of costumes and backgrounds. Overall the experience was fun and memorable, the pictures came out great.
