Also, I was very suprised in the prices, we picked out ONE photo, and the lady goes ok in this size (the biggest one) sound good? she was already walking away so i couldnt tell her no, she told me it would be printed after im done changing. What I like best about this place is that they save your photos for life so if you ever need to make copies you can ask them and they can help you with prints. We have made going to Capone's a Memorial weekend tradition with our larger family. The older man was our photographer and did a terrific job. The issue was the dishonest practice of giving clothing but NOT informing us that it was an up sale. They asked my daughters if you they wanted tight for the picture and they said sure. We didn't find out until payment of the $8 per package. They wouldn't sell and release the photos until we paid for them. We thought of walking out and going somewhere else but with small children that was out of the question. I'm saddened that their bad practice was worth us NEVER returning. Capones has left a sour taste with us and wonder if we'll ever do this again. Was the $16 worth us not returning and spending over $200 again? read more

We had a ridiculous and great time for our besties photo shoot. We kept it pretty standard and went western style. Myself and other female friend felt pretty exposed in the dresses we were assigned. They give you a "bootie" which is basically a loincloth for your tushy- but your whole backside is exposed. It's humbling for those who aren't used to being half naked in public. My male bestie had far more coverage and more weapons! George was our photographer and he did a great job making us laugh and taking great candid shots and some posed too. We ended up buying more than planned of course and George made helpful suggestions in our purchasing.. I'd recommend the keychains. A fun souvenir, especially if you get a good candid. Unfortunately the young lady helping our George was as useful as a broken mop. We started laughing when she repeatedly said "George.....! George..." She broke the cutter, screwed up entering stuff in the computer, couldn't find a million things, didn't know how to take a picture or what poses to have the people do- she literally struggled with each task George gave her. A couple came in for their photo shoot and he was trying to help them and wrap ours up- poor George! He needs better help There's a million of these photo places within 4 blocks of each other- just pick the one with the background you like best, they are relatively all the same and a tourist trap- but get silly with it and be different. Pro tip- ladies wear a strapless bra and boy short style undies to keep more coverage and less skin contact with the clothes worn by all and washed by none. read more

Incredible atmosphere from the minute you walk threw the doors, the stages and employees literally transport you back in time!!! Pets are not only welcome but they encourage you to bring them! They have costumes galore with all the accessories you could think of, they even offer fishnets and make-up for a small fee! The packages for prints are decently priced, digital packages start at 150 which is phenomenal for the print release as well! They even do custom framing there with some of the coolest frames I've seen! Definitely a must experience of the Dells! They also have an all new pirate stage this year that is super excellent! They are the only one with an all real 1934 Chevy car and the one one who does a 1950s Diner !!!! Impressive to say the least! read more

We took our family of 7 here for our first time vintage photo. Seven ranging from barely not an adult to single digit kids. Some like photos. Some are indifferent and several are teenagers who like selfies but not "pictures," let a lone family pictures. In the end they ALL liked the photos. (Documenting this for future personal reference) There was a few people ahead of us, but we didn't have to wait very long. Staff was helpful, the actual picture taking was quick and the photos turned out really nice. We ended up purchasing a couple of them and the card as we were thinking about Christmas cards. I appreciate the advice about taking the card vs ordering them there as we were unsure. Staff was friendly and helpful & cared about what they put you in and didn't just grab whatever was free or fit. I appreciate they seemed to be really thinking about the outfit you were in and what would look best. They had a good sense of humor which we always appreciate. This is the best old time photo place in the Dells! Gina was so helpful, she made sure we were all positioned correctly and every hair was in place so the photo turned out great. When we came in the old lady asked my friend and I to share a dressing room even tho we were the only people in there getting our pictures taken at the time. We thought it was weird but said ok. They had laundry baskets in there to put your belongings in. I put my purse on the bottom and the my friend put her purse on top of mine and then we put our clothes on top of them and laid our shoes next to the basket. We went to the front to get our pictures done. The older lady that was getting us ready for the picture's kept getting distracted by the people that were walking in. We waited a good 15 minutes before we actually got our pictures taken and it was a younger girl that ended up taking them because the older lady decided to take info for someone that wanted a job instead of worrying about us that she already started with. After taking the picture's they told us to take off our accessories and to come look at the picture's. We went to look at the pictures and they were all blurry. So it was kind of annoying but we put on our stuff again to retake picture's. After we got the picture's done and decided what picture we wanted my friend and I want to get changed. As we were walking to the dressing room we noticed the older guy that was working was on his knees in our dressing room and had all of our clothes all over the floor and he was going through our basket. Once he noticed we were behind him he grabbed all our clothes and tossed them back in the basket and said we left them all over and he needed to get into the closet that was in there. As my friend called him out asking him what the hell he was doing I picked up the clothes that he tossed in the basket and my friends purse was open and $60 was laying out in the basket and the stuff in the purse was all over in the basket. This guy opened her purse and then opened her wallet to get to this cash. By the end once we put all the stuff back into her purse she was missing $100 in $20 bills. The guy hurried out of there and the older lady came back and was looking through stuff to see if we could locate the $100. The guys was all over the place once we caught him so he could have shoved it anywhere. Needless to say we couldn't find the money and my friend is out $100. We decided to call the cops. They did have cameras and the cop was able to watch them and gave the guy the opportunity to give my friend her money back or get taken down to the police station and get a ticket. Of course the guy said he didn't have it and the cops took him and gave him a ticket. The owner lived a couple blocks away and didn't bother coming down or helping us in any way. She keeps deleting the review my friend has posted about what happened. If thats not shady I dont know what is. We will be posting this in every place we can so people don't get scammed like we did. Staff was friendly upon arrival and we were excited to have a fun experience! Well, that went south REAL quick. An older female directed my female friend and I to a dressing room in which we shared. Mind you, they weren't busy. We got dressed and left our things in their supplied laundry baskets in the dressing rooms. We were getting ready to take our pictures and were constantly interrupted by our photographer leaving to tend to other people (older female). It was very unprofessional and super chaotic! We ended up with a different, young female taking our pictures after at least 15 minutes of waiting and trying to get set up. We got our pictures taken and went to look at them and they were all blurry. So then, we had to retake them. Whatever. Shit happens. At this point, annoyed but dealing. We picked out some pictures after the 2nd go around and my friend and I headed back to our dressing room to get changed. As we approached the dressing room, we watched an older man digging through our basket, clothes flung all over the floor, my purse wide open, my wallet wide open, money and items in my purse flung out. We stood there in disbelief and then asked the man what the hell he was doing going through our things! He said WE left the room that way and he was just moving things to get into a closet that was in there... complete bullshit! Our purses were in the bottom of these baskets... our clothes all stacked on top, our boots set next to these baskets very NEATLY before we left the dressing room. The guy was absolutely startled that we caught him and rushed to pick up all the items and grabbed things out of the closet to make his story "legit". And then rushed away as fast as he could. And made himself very scarce the rest of our time there... I went through my purse and noticed I had $100 missing in $20 bills. The older female got on the phone with her manager and I heard her say to the manager that we didn't have our purses with us and clearly saw the signs (these handmade signs were NOT pointed out to us nor were we told to keep our purses on us!) These signs started they were not responsible for lost or stolen items. I saw these after the fact, which is sketchy to have up in the first place... that's telling me you know you have thieves... (and as many times as I've gotten old time photos taken in the Dells, I have NEVER EVER had an issue with people touching my shit!) The older female and the younger female did have this older man empty his pockets and lay his items out for us to see, and she took us in back to look for my missing money, but as stated, the older man made sure he wasn't around us. Of course we didn't find anything and it was clear to me nothing was going to get done about this so I ended up filing a police report. The manager allowed the police officer to view camera footage of the general area of the dressing rooms, however they obviously don't have cameras in the dressing rooms, which was greatly taken advantage of in this situation. The police officer did see the man go in the dressing room (on the cameras) prior to us catching him and in short told the older man he could give my money back or head down to the station for a citation. He denied taking anything so off he went. So, of course I was out $100. No one offered us anything for having such a shitty experience. We didn't purchase our pictures. I have never been so disgusted with a business in the Dells in all the years I've been going there. read more

When one decides to take a trip to Wisconsin Dells in the winter time, the downside is that there isn't a whole lot that's open for things to do. One activity that is loads of fun to do (and can be done all year round) is to have some old time pictures taken with friends and/or family. Capone's is just the place to do that! Once you have decided on your theme, the staff will help you with costume selection for an authentic look. The amount of costumes that they have on site is mind boggling! Capone's really knows their stuff for creating the best possible picture for you. From posing to putting special touches on the pictures with different finishes and effects, your pictures will look fantastic. Hubby and I, along with our friends, were so happy with how our 1930's Gangster pics turned out. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Family owned business but great experience overall. I initially called to make an appointment but it is not required. I feared that the entire process would take really long, but we were surprisingly in and out just as we hoped. Dressing up 3+ times, posing, picking photos, printing photos all took just about 45 minutes. Coral helped me feel comfortable and recommended dresses to fit my vision. Steve, the photographer, was all about making sure we truly looked good, adjusting my hair and the dress fringes, not just about taking our picture and fast-forwarding to the next family. If I could recommend anything, I would suggest better lighting, both in the changing rooms and on the sets. read more

They helped you pick the right combination of clothing and props (this was super fun) to make your photo authentic and amazing. Everyone helping our group was the right combination of kind and funny. Coordinating a group this size is no small task, but they did it with ease. We were dressed and positioned to take the best possible pictures. I know it's hokey, but it's fun as hell. There's a few of these places in town but we've been to this one twice in as many years (you know... for the kids) and we can't leave until we've taken some pics. They have a metric ton of old costumes and props and the stages are great too. The same lady helped us last year was here again and she's hilarious and good with kids. read more

Friendly staff. They got us in right away, everything was fast-paced which was great but also a bit rushed. They got us dressed (outfits, accessories, footwear) almost immediately! I would've liked to change poses or switch props during the shoot but all of a sudden we were done. But oh well, we had several shots that we loved. We opted to just get the digital package (which came on a cd) so we could order a canvas print online and use the photos for a potential Christmas card. All in all we would recommend Capone's!
