This was our 3rd year camping here for Thanksgiving - but B.E. (Before Evangelina) Paul and his family have been coming here for years and years for the bridge lighting. We like to come for Thanksgiving and extend our vacation as long as possible. With the 5th wheel we are comfortable, can have a full Thanksgiving dinner, and can enjoy the beautiful nature. A quick walk or bike ride to the river is good for those fishermen and just over the bridge is antique shops and the hotel/bar/restaurant. This place is owned by Ryan and his family for the last few years and every year it gets better and better. This is painful for me because I love this place. But my husband and I talked some friends into going up for a weekend recently. One couple brought a personal trailer, another rented a trailer and then my husband and I rented another trailer. This isn't the first time my husband and I have done this and we have always been so happy with the experiences. It's been a couple years but this last time we were highly disappointed. It was January so cold weather. The heater didn't work in either trailer. They did have a portable plug in heater available. The trailer was beat up and very dirty. No broom to sweep with even. Couldn't take a shower in trailer because it leaked water out into the hallway. The items they do provide to cook with were very few and far between. The oven didn't work so couldn't bake anything we planned on baking for breakfast. The propane for the bbq was empty but husband ended up using the one on the porch of the store. At this time I wouldn't suggest renting any trailers since our friends said their trailer wasn't much better. The facility showers for women were very clean but men's lights were not working so night time visits required a flashlight. Won't be back anytime soon. My husband did try to go and talk to someone but it was right after the store hours so no one available. read more

We were looking for.a place to camp near Redding, our home town. This campground is about 30 mins from Redding. It was an easy tow on rural but well maintained roads all the way to the campground. Easy tow for my 25.5 foot travel trailer and 2019 Chevy taho . The store is well supplied with camping and fishing needs. The park has lots of trees for shade and the spaces are wide. Wider than any other places we have stayed . The spots are grassed, all clean and well maintained. Everyone there was very nice and will happily give you fishing advice, if you ask. Our dogs loved the area down below, we would take them off leash and let them do dog-things. Just around the corner from the campground ( walking distance) is access to the river. We called to make reservations and was told they would choose a spot for us. We have a small Coleman RV. And a tent that we were using for the kids things. I was told a map would be sent to me. I only recieved a confirmation and nothing else on 7/16/25. The day before we were leaving I had called to ask for the map. I recieved an email on the 23rd but didn't open it because a friend was able to give me directions. At Check in the young man told me that tents were not allowed because they killed the grass. We negotiated the additional amount that he told me of 55.00 down to 25.00 more a night. I'm handicapped and have children with special needs. When the man who runs the place showed up at my camp telling me to take the tent down, I told him it was late I was tired and explained that his office help had told me for that price I could put it up. He accused me of not following his rules. This was upsetting, so basically he was accusing me of lying when his office help told me for 25.00 more a night i could set up the tent. He then kicked us out and told me he would be refunding me. When I went to get the reciept for the refund he refused to reimburse me for the three days. This resorts lack of communication, stealing our money and of accusing me of lying saying rules were sent via e-mail explaing the only thing i recieved on the 16th was confirmation. Since the grass was weeds and there were dead spots clearly from RV's i felt he just had it out for us. We found a beautiful resort to stay in! The owners accommodated all of our needs! This was our 2nd time camping at the Old Lewiston Bridge RV Park and Resort. Last July 4th, 2022, we tent camped and enjoyed the quiet and convenient location so much we had to return for Memorial Day weekend. The new owners have had the property just over two years, and the park is looking good! Very clean and tidy. Restrooms and showers are clean, and there's a big sink attached to the outside of the building for campers to use for washing dishes and whatever. The owners came down to our site to see if we needed anything! Amazing young couple! Very personable and charming. There appear to be about 8 very spacious tent camping sites down below the RV park. A short walk along some trails gets you to the Trinity River for fishing or a dip in the cold water! Local deer frequent the campsites, so don't leave anything out for them to get into. Only 45-minute drive west of Redding and easy to plan daily excursions into the Trinity Alps, Weaverville, Etna, or the Lewiston antique shop (just a short walk over the Old Lewiston Bridge). read more

I started planning out my trip in May and called ahead to make reservations. A gentleman, who later found out it was Dave, stated that there will plenty of spaces available when I arrive in November. The park has a few residents, several travelers that stay for weeks on end due to work and spaces for travelers. As I checked in, Carol asked if I needed anything as I looked around they were stocked up with essentials dry good- can foods, beans, rice and other camping items that may have been forgotten. Including a couple coolers with dairy and beer! I asked about showers, Carol gave me a shower key and I gave her a 5 dollar deposit for the key. Carol tells me that people will simply forget to turn in the shower key. Carol told me to drive around to choose a spot for my liking. We found a spot to park my little 19-footer that looked out to the a mountain ridge. Coming from the San Jose Bay Area, my Wife & I started to decompress.. It was so quite and peaceful here!! Kids, my 2- girls had fun! I reminded them to be quite as the played. The sites have full hook-ups! They will provide burn barrels, old wash machine tubs. One this is they rather you to use their barrels. Their barrels are very high off the ground, preventing the glass for getting scorched. Night came, it got dark fast and it was a beautiful view to see the stars! The Wife & I took turns heading up to the showers. The shower room was very clean and the water was plentiful and hot!! It was nice to stretch out under hot water after a day on the road and clean up! Once packed up, we pulled up to the propane station to top-off my propane tanks. The price of propane was surprisingly average. I turned in the shower key as I checked out. $5 bucks is $5 bucks!! We thanked them for the hospitality, told them we'd be up in the future! A great area to stay at if your traveling North or South. It's located about 1hr 15minutes West of Interstate 5. read more

I camped here with a large group of fly fishers so we didn't really spend much time at the campground. Which was good. It was fine, I guess, but not very scenic as campgrounds go. Absolutely no privacy between camp sites, which was fine since we had a large group, but I would never camp here with just my family. They did have hot showers, so they had that going for them. read more

July 2012: Great place to stay! Pulled into town after leaving Etna. We had made reservations at the RV park just up the road from them, but when we drove by it my wife said "uh,...keep driving". This RV park is right next to the old bridge, so you can walk from your RV to the Trinity River. There are blackberry bushes ALL OVER : - ) It's a little packed in, but overall it was clean and the owners were very nice. They also have the Good Sam discount. read more

This park is the best in all of Trinity County, very clean, lots of shade, super management... Dave and Carol really have it together. I recommend to anyone looking for the very best at a reasonable rate. Excellent for long term stay..been staying there all summer for years. I was introduced to this Campground by my fishing buddies in 1994. Frank Lazzarini and Jerry Owens first started camping and fishing in this area in 1979. Both of them have passed on now but I still come every year. Dave and Carol (the owners and hosts) are very friendly and helpful. Dave is really involved with the community and you can tell he loves living in Lewiston. I enjoy the Lewiston and Weaverville area of Trinity County a lot, both towns have a wonderful history. If you visit this area you will hopefully find it to be very enjoyable as I have. This area is very scenic and has much to offer. The Old Lewiston Bridge is a short walk from the campground and you can watch fish swimming in the river below. (I have caught fish there and also floated the river from there, fishing my way down to a take out point at the near by BLM site.) On the walk to the bridge you will pass by the Moose Lodge and just a bit farther you will find a really friendly little market that I always stop at. Also in walking distance is the historic hotel and bar. I have many good memories from there. If you just want to get away and relax this is a perfect location. If you want to fish for Salmon, Steelhead or Trout it is also a perfect place to stay. If you love to ride motorcycles there are wonderful roads for riding with great scenery to enjoy on your rides. Another attraction is deer hunting in Trinity county. Anyway I can't say enough good things about the location the campground and the hosts. For a short stay or an extended stay it is wonderful. read more

Amazing to find such a nice grass camp site RV park so close to Redding. I am so used to finding places where you need to make reservations weeks or months in advance and not here. And, many open sites while we were there. Deer were right in the camp area and would lie under the trailers. We will definitely go here again. And close to a nice restaurant in downtown Lewiston. read more

We decided on something different We decided to spend Thanksgiving at this Lovely RV park. What fun! it was are first time here. Carol and David the owners are awesome!!! they served Thanksgiving dinner for whole park in their new clubhouse! Which David built himself! there was no charge for this it was there way of saying Thanks! and it was an awesome meal! We were lucky as Lewiston does a fire works display and Bridge Christmas lighting the Saturday after thanksgiving, it was huge! David and Carol build 4 or 5 campfires and David makes the best Chicken gumbo and the whole park is invited down to watch fire works and eat this awesome meal! This is all done out of the goodness of their heart! These are the kind of people you hope to meet in your travels. We all chatted made new friends and had a great time!. We stayed four days at park. We have never been up in the area before and were very pleased. Very clean and quite. We walked to the river to fish. Walked to the old town and just loved all the antiques. We went kayaking and fishing on Lewiston Lake. Dave and Carol are so friendly and helpful. I would love to come stay again. read more

This is by far the quietest Campground we have ever stayed at. About 1/4 of the sites looked to be full time residents who all seemed friendly and 1/4 vacation spots that were occupied by rvs but we never saw anyone there during our stay. The owners Dave and Carol were very nice and we were fortunate to be able to have a few conversations with them while there for the week. We also had the opportunity to make friends with the camp host Craig who was a great guy to chat with and a wealth of knowledge on the local fishing information and he even left us a couple of croissants in the morning on our picnic table for our first morning fishing trip. If you are planning on doing any fishing in the area while staying there I highly encourage you to talk to him and he will line you out with the hot tips. The campground is very neat and clean, well stocked store, everything you need without the frills or high price tag. The WiFi by the office is great and our VERIZON phones worked off and on at our site, sort of like someone was occasionally turning the internet switch on and off, sometimes strong sometimes off but worked enough to occasionally get our news and email fix which was plenty. Our tv got 3 local channels, though I didn't mess around with tuning the antenna to try and get any more. The campsites are grass, have a nice picnic table and they will provide a fire pit if you want one. The key things with this place for us and the reasons we will definitely be returning for is the absolute quiet, clean neat grounds, friendly people and the fact that I never felt the need to lock my car or anything else while we were there. read more

We wanted to stay in Lewiston for a night and go to the bar and enjoy dinner at the restaurant downtown. The hotel was full but this campground is very close, so we gave them a call. They said that they had a few tent site's open and that they would hold one for us. They also said we could camp in the 'meadow' if we liked. We got there and they couldn't even tell us if they had any tent site's open. The 'meadow' was a big patch of dirt with no shade. There wasn't anywhere else to stay in town. Since we had planned on eating in town and walking, we were not able to camp at all. We got to turn around and head back to Redding. It would have been nice if they had just informed us that they were full before we made the 45 minute drive up the mountain. A waste of gas and time. Some of the camping looked ok, but some of it looked pretty bad. Just make sure three times that you have a reservation before you waste your time. read more
