I don't often review campgrounds but so many people commented on specific sites and no one…read morecommented on Site 11, which is the one I booked this weekend so here you go future bookers: We were able to fit two single backpacking tents and two larger two person tents but both the official tent spot and our unofficial spot had notable, but tolerable slopes as noted multiple times in reviews. There is a parking spot for site 11 across the campground road near a pit toilet. Flush toilets are located on the other side of the parking lot, which is right next to site 10. Site 10 seemed like it had a nice lake view. You can see the lake through the trees from site 11. There are no bear boxes! You store food and toiletries in your car at night. Wing wildlife included mosquitoes (light), yellow jackets (heaviest mid morning), and very loud cicadas. My ears were ringing like I went to a loud concert. I have to assume that's seasonal. There's a "boat launch" past the flush toilets near the tent cabins that was nice for setting up a few camp chairs and entering the water in floaties. There were a few other beaches further on but they were full. There was a kerfuffle over an inflatable kayak while we were there so keep an eye on your things! The lake was shockingly not ice cold like many CA lakes I've been in but it was also 100 degrees out. We stayed in for hours. So nice! Intimate campground with sloped sites and nice lake access- overall a pleasant stay!

Some feedback on the campground: - The glamping site bed is super comfortable. We fell asleep instantly and got woken up next day by the morning sun. - The glamping sites are set up well, have enough space, each come with a fire pit, 2 plastic chairs, 2 wooden chairs, a full table + benches and a LED lantern. - The bathrooms at are clean, flush toilets. The ranger is re-stocking toilet paper daily. Big plus! - There are no showers at the campground. Good news is that you can simply take a swim in the lake :) - There's no cell phone reception (AT&T, at least) once you leave Redding. - This is a pretty small campground, which is really nice because you have a lot of space and it's not too crowded. As with any campground, it can still be noisy with kids or other neighbors that talk at night. You might want to bring earplugs if you don't fall asleep easily. To be…read moreclear, the campground is a short distance prior to the actual lake which has its own parking lot and trailheads. Once parked at the lake, you can embark on the moderate trail to Heart Lake. Approaching the lake, the trail is to the left of it and climbs along the lake shore with intermittent views. As you take a gradual but steady climb up, you will start to see views open up and eventually see Mt Shasta itself. Most hikers stop at Heart Lake which is a scenic spot with granite on one side and on the outlet side of the lake for Shasta views. If you're wanting a little bit of a longer hike, when facing the lake, make a right and log hop across its outlet and follow a faint but obvious trail to a rocky outcropping. There you will reach an amazing vista of Castle Lake and Mt Shasta. It's a great spot to have your lunch and take some amazing photos. Take care on the way down as there are some steep drop offs and slippery rocks. Most of the trail is exposed, so I'd go earlier in the day in the warm months. Depending on how far you go, it's 3-4 miles out and back. Wonderful way to have amazing mountain scenery in a short hike. Free parking at the lake and pit toilets (not the best, not the worst I've seen.)

Now for the bad part . . . Close to Highway 5. You always hear the traffic. A dull roar at night. Union Pacific. Railroad line across the road. Busy day and night. Quiet? No, not here. You may not sleep well if you're Camping at Antlers. Antlers: Convenience. Get away from it all? Then Go camp somewhere else.

Fowler's Campground was actually our first choice for our stay in the Shasta area because of the…read moreproximity to the McCloud River and Falls, but unfortunately all of their reservable and walk in sites were taken, so we drove about 6 miles away to test our luck at Cattle Camp instead. Luckily, we snagged the last remaining first-come-first-serve site (#27). Similar to other campgrounds, you pay at the front by putting your cash in the little envelopes. It's $15/ night here. The site has a picnic bench and a bear box as well as a fire pit. The site was pretty spacious and fairly clean. I also like that the sites aren't super close together so you feel like you have some breathing space from your neighbors. The potable water faucet was also a short walk away (next to the toilets). My only gripe is that the vault toilets weren't cleaned out daily. We stayed here for 3 days/2 nights and they weren't cleaned out at all. I'm assuming they probably empty them and replenish the toilet paper about once a week. Overall, not my favorite campsite of all time, but this is a good alternative if you can't find anything at Fowler's Campground. 3.75

They have bathrooms available for campers as well that are very well kept and drinking water faucets throughout the site. There are plenty of little trails that give you access to the water, however at this point in time it is very low so it's more of a rocky hill side. But the view is still beautiful and it's possible to walk along if you're careful. Recommend for anyone, families with children included!

A beautiful location completely ruined 2 years in a row by awful Group Campsites campers…read more This place would be a 4/5 or 5/5; nice sites, cleanish bathrooms, many places to access the water, amazing variety of creatures (gray foxes, deer, bald eagles, hares, bats, turkey vultures etc), but this campsite hosts 2 (or maybe 3) additional Group Campsites slightly away from the smaller regular sized sites. The issue is the sound carries straight across the little water recess between the Group and Main campsites and those groups are TERRIBLE. 2 years ago, it was music blaring and people screaming well past 1 am. This year, it was the exact same with the addition of these awful people setting off 5 LARGE fireworks after midnight. Absolute BS behavior at the height of fire season no less. And we observed that during sunset many of the local turkey vultures perch on the trees right above those very sites for the evening :( Either get a camp host to watch this place passively or keep losing guests to the social contract breakers in the Group Sites ONE out of FIVE

The RV was clean, worked well and my entire family enjoyed it. The RV was well stocked with bedding, kitchen supplies and camping chairs. Pick up and drop-off were very easy. Mike and his crew actually helped us to load the RV and unload it. Payment and our deposit refund were handled efficiently as well. Also, my daughter left her iPhone in the RV and Mike quickly located it and shipped it back to us!
