The service was friendly, and the food came out in a timely manner. I had the Chicken Caesar wrap ($16.95), which was a special on the day I attended. This also came with a side of pasta salad or fries, and I opted for the orzo-based pasta salad. It was very good especially the balsamic vinaigrette that dressed it. The wrap was nicely done, filled to capacity, and served warm. The homemade croutons and the slight crunch from the wrap really made it worthwhile. I also tried the flavors of fall sandwich, which was another special. It contained grilled chicken, caramelized onions, pumpkin and cranberry chutney, goat cheese, and toasted pecans on ciabatta. The ciabatta was the highlight here as well as the onions. The chutney was a tad too sweet for me. I also had the blueberry cobbler cupcake and a slice of brown sugar pecan pie cheesecake. Both were very flavorful. The crumb on the cupcake was good and I liked that the actual cupcake had blueberries rather than just the frosting. The cheesecake slice was my preferred choice. I liked the crunch from the pecans and overall, it was not too "cheesecaky", which sometimes puts me off. Will I go back? Definitely.

I stopped in with my parents while bopping around town and brought home just one container, but do have big plans to return and try more and more. We chatted with the kind woman behind the counter that let us know her son is the pickling genius behind the operation, while she mans the store. This endeavour might be new to the family, but her son, like her father have always been big gardeners. And what do you do with an excess of cucumbers? You get creative! The Kosher Dills and are delicious and have a great crunch. I am veryyyy confident that they won't last long in my fridge.

The vendors range from produce to honey to bread, little gifts perfect for the holidays, handmade soaps, lotions and candles and so much more. On my last trip I got some fresh veggies and fruit, a jar of honey and a loaf of sourdough bread. The bread was some of my favorite sourdough I've had. Perfect soft and the crust not too hard or crunchy. The honey is also getting lots of use and for $12 for a pretty big jar it is not too bad a deal. The produce was probably the most expensive part of the haul, but just happy to have a bit of an organic stock around. Next time I visit, I'm tempted to try the raviolis (from the same vendor that I got the honey) or maybe even take a closer look at some of the gifts since the holidays are quickly approaching. Parking is easy with the massive lot, but it for sure gets busy for the market. Worth a stop in! Grab a coffee next door after and check out some of the other nearby shops like the new antique store across the street or the pottery studio next door.

We sampled some tasty boba, smelt some alcohol inspired coffee beans, oohed at the variety of salads, awwed at the cute selection of children's books, ate a piece of the most delicious tres leches ever, inhaled some relaxing lavender scents, got inspired by artistic cat purses, and regretted not having enough tummy space for empanadas, cookies or chocolates. After purchasing our goodies, we walked around the factory and found some tables near an art gallery. It's very spacious and open for exploring, and there's a great looking coffee shop attached as well. Its also connected to a bunch of other stores in the area, like a retro downtown. After researching several options with a mind toward reasonable entrance fees and fair prices per unit, Melick's was where we landed. At $5.99 per person for weekend pricing (which includes a free hayride to the furthest points of the orchard) at peak picking season, I felt it was worth the longer drive to get there. I also loved that they issued free plastic picking bags without the added cost, as many orchards are now wont to do. In late September, there were plenty of apples ripe for the picking, with clear signage to denote which types were ripe. Honeycrisp apples were a little more per pound, but once I tasted a few, it was clear why. True to its name, I've never bit into a more juicier or crunchier apple, and I've been spoiled for supermarket apples for good. Most folks seem to come for the apples, but I saw a fair number of people coming down from the fields with armloads of giant sunflowers. Of course, there's always the store at the front, with other farm-fresh produce, cider (both alcoholic and non), and baked goodies. The alcoholic apple cider was refreshing, with a light buzz that made time in the orchard just a little happier. No bags or backpacks are allowed in the orchard area, but there's a small picnic area with some tables and porta-potties at the very front. Our family came prepared with picnic blankets, and the folks here were totally fine with us setting up by the goats (who are fenced in, so there's no direct interaction but the children in our group had great fun watching them while we ate). Melick may not have all the frills and fancy fun of other orchards, but I was delighted by a few perks, like a small tire play area and a decently sized corn maze that was fun to walk through with the family. The parking lot doesn't seem all that large, but when we went, it never seemed to get so busy that it was impossible to find a spot.

One downside to it was that the checkout lines were very hectic and it took us about 30-40 mins to check out, but since it was their first day and a Sunday, I hope this won't be the norm!
