So I went here for Haste The Day's last show last Friday. This place is pretty big. I got up in the second row and I could see ok. The sound was good, and the staff on my side were nice. Didn't really stop anyone from doing anything. I would've given this place 5 stars until I heard about the staff on the other side piratically abusing the crowd. Pushing people for no real reason. Someone even got the police called on them for crowd surfing and bumping into a security guard. I heard they also thew someone off the stage and all the way into the pit once and they got a concussion. So yeah, some of the staff are nice, but some really aren't. Oh and they have the best phone reception I've ever had at a show. read more

Wicked was my 3rd musical to see at the ONC. Each time, I say that I will never return. I tried the orchestra level and could not see as there is not enough height change. I tried the balcony. I could hear the ushers talking outside of the door, people were going in and out during the show allowing the door to slam, the ushers came in and out to set and watch the show, and they allowed many people in after the show started. I paid more money for this show than I did in March on Broadway. At least on Broadway, everything is more respectable. I love the old feeling of the ONC, but it needs serious upgrades: the bathrooms, proper etiquette with the ushers, and a larger theater style slant on the orchestra level. And why are the doors designed to be so loud!!!??? read more

I purchased tickets for my sisters and I to see Trixie and Katya. The tickets I purchased were for the back row, an attendant came over and saw we were the only ones in the row and gave us royalty seats so we could watch from the balcony. The woman was so nice and the rest of the staff has been wonderful. 10/10 recommend, will definitely be coming here again! read more

Great venue to come and watch a show. We saw the Russian Nutcracker and The Lion King here and both times left happy. One thing that was disappointing was people having no shame coming to a show 20 mins late and creeping to their seats disturbing others... You don't pay $200 per ticket to watch someone's back and to stand up to let others get to their seats in the middle of a show. Wish there was the airport policy about closing gates! Keep in mind construction across the street might affect traffic and it is quite hard to find parking in the area given its proximity to Mass Ave. I'd recommend parking a few blocks away and taking Lyft to Old National Centre - it is more convenient and less expensive than nearby overpriced parking. read more

Went to go see Wicked after getting my ticket as a Christmas Present. Was everything I expected it to be and more. The bartenders are amazing and very easy going. The drinks though! I got a 'Bad Wish' and it cost $17! Not that I'm really surprised to be honest. I hated the people in front of me, they blocked my view of the stage and they kept kissing! I was able to enjoy the show though so not to much was lost. I was in the middle seat in the middle row of the orchestra section (I call it prime real-estate as it allows you to see a play or musical perfectly! At least for the most part. At the Old National Centre not so much, the incline on the orchestra seats is far to low and it should be steeper. The way the chairs are labeled makes it difficult to tell if you're sitting in the correct seat or not. Prepare to spend a lot of money here and prepare to have your view blocked by the people in front of you. Honestly go to the IRT if you want to get good prices and good seats. read more

In need of some paint and a small facelift. Walls chairs all look tired. Went to see 4U a Symphonic Tribute to Prince Oct 13th. No announcement were made not to video or take pictures ( even thought people do anyway ). Instead security was walking around and telling people during the show to stop using their phones to video and record the music. It was distracting and annoying. It's sad that we have to go thru metal detectors to get in, I get it, but it's sad. read more

A-freakin'-mazing!! This was my first time at the Murat (Old National Centre does not roll off the tongue so nicely) and I got to see one of my favorite DJs Kaskade! I was impressed by the Egyptian room; intimate, beautiful, and I would agree with Scot C. that is does have a serious mysterious appeal to it. The one thing they need to work on is the staff giving directions. Looking for will-call was a workout. The person in the front said it was in the back; the person in the back said it was in the front; the people in the middle, well, they didn't know where the back or front was. Fun times! read more

I love the Murat Centre for a concert or play simply because of its ornate decor. I also like the fact that you can purchase a little cocktail at the bar and take it into the show with you. I have been in both the Murat Theatre and the Egyptian room and I do prefer the former. True, the seating is a bit "close" for real comfort, especially if you're seated next to a larger individual, but the sound is good - okay, I've never been in the balcony, but it's good down in the Orchestra section. Oddly enough, one of the things I find most appealing about the theatre is its darkness....whatever/whomever is on stage just seems to stand out more in the inky blackness of the auditorium. On our recent visit, though, it was too stuffy inside the building. I guess that's one of the drawbacks of taking in a show here during the dead of summer :-) In the end, it's still pretty cool to see your favorite act or show in a venue that's on the National Register of Historic Places. read more

We were there Sunday December 12 for the Ashley Mcbryde concert. (myself, my wife, my 19 year old daughter and 2 of our friends) We drove from Cincinnati Ohio. We had the fast pass so we could get in early. When we got there, we all got wrist bands (except my 19 year old daughter). We found a spot by the stage and then I went and got drinks. I got myself and my wife a Modelo, My friends got a white claw and a truly, my daughter got a can of the "liquid Death" water. A few of us decided to use the rest room before the show started. I took my beer with me, but my wife asked my daughter to hold hers. When I came back, I asked my daughter to hand me my wifes beer. At that time a security guard walked by ( he was heavy set with red hair and a beard) and he asked for her ID. When I asked why, he said to see her age. I told him that she was a minor, and that she was just holding the beer. He made her go downstairs, so I went with them. The "supervisor" took her license and was entering all kinds of information into his phone. I tried to explain to them that I own a bar in Cincinnati and I understand the law, but in Ohio, it is legal for a minor to possess and consume alcohol in the presence of their parents. PARENTAL CONSENT Ohio state law does allow for parents to allow their children (or spouses who are over the age of 21 to allow their underage spouse) to consume alcohol, under certain circumstances. For a parent to consent for a minor to consume alcohol, the parent has to be physically present with the minor and supervising the minor at all times. The parent assumes all responsibility and consequences should the minor cause damage or injury. Restaurants and bars are legally allowed to serve alcoholic beverages to parents, knowing it will be consumed by a minor, but are also allowed to refuse to serve alcohol to a minor. It is at the discretion of the individual establishment. They would not listen. I asked if we would be allowed to attend the concert, and he said I can but she cant. I asked for her license back so we could leave, and he would not give it to me. I reached in to get it, and all three of them attacked me (2 security and a police officer) one grabbed my neck, the other grabbed my arms, and one pushed me. My daughter stepped in between us because the police officer pulled out his tazer. He then proceeded to put his finger in her face and scream at her with a lot of foul language. Once they finally gave her back her license, my wife came down and we left. We walked around front to wait for our friends, and the officer came out and told us that management requested that we are removed from the property. I understand that it is against Indiana law for a 19 year old to hold a beer, but I believe it could have been handled differently. There was another security guard standing there when my wife handed the beer to her, and he stood there the entire time. He could have said that she never drank it. The red haired guy could have just taken the beer and said that she cant hold it. It did not need to escalate to what it did. Like I said, we are from Ohio and it is legal here for her to hold the beer, so honestly, we didn't even think anything of it. But to be thrown out, and treated the way we were was uncalled for. We spent a lot of money to be there, and we feel that it could have been handled a lot differently. read more

It's fun checking the list of performers coming soon to this cool venue located downtown Indy, right off Mass. Ave. It seems they have a new show every night and if I don't recognize the name of an upcoming show, I search the name online - the act is usually pretty cool. They basically have 2 rooms set up for concerts and shows here. One is a very large open space called the egyptian room and concerts in here are just stand and try to give your self room to move around. The other is a great concert hall with seats. Recently, my friend scored some tickets to the "Wilco" show, with "Deep Sea Diver" opening up. Awesome show, but we may as well have been in the Egyptian Room because we stood for the entire show anyway. We got dropped off on New Jersey right in front of the door with the awning that stretches across the sidewalk. It was cold out and this was a quick way inside. The restrooms are in the basement and they just recently got refurbished with a bar located in between the bathrooms. On the main level they have a whiskey bar, wine bar and the grand bar in the main grand entryway. Plenty of places to get a drink, but the prices are a bit high, so be forewarned. After the show everyone left in a very orderly manner and we were in our "ride" home within 15 minutes after the show. If it had been a weekend, the after concert party would have taken place at one of the many bars on Mass Ave. read more

Completely dissatisfied with my experience last night at Matt Rife. They made an announcement no phones were to be out or you would be asked to leave. I had my phone put away the entire show In my purse. Towards the end of the show the girl next to me took her phone out and took a picture and her flash went off. Next thing I know, security was over and asked me to leave the show. I had done absolutely nothing wrong. When I walked out, because security was very adamant I had to leave, I told them it was the lady next to me and asked them why they thought it was me. Security then stated they didn't see me with the phone but once the flash went off they saw my husbands red hat and the flash came from his area. I did absolutely nothing wrong and paid good money for my seats. Very upset I was not able to finish the show. Meanwhile, someone can sit in the balcony and OD during the show and cause a disruption read more

My experience at The Old National Centre varies greatly based on the show and the audiences. Biggest problem is in the Murat - especially during Broadway productions. Audience members are let in late, in huge waves, sometimes 20 minutes into the first act. Very frustrating! The Deluxe and Egyptian Room over a very intimate concert setting which is great! :) Pay attention to signs and your ticket as there are often multiple events running concurrently. Snacks/bar available but expect high prices - your better off to stop before your show/concert! If you want close parking - you must pre pay for VIP parking. Otherwise look for street parking or the church around the corner has $5 parking! read more

We visited Old National Centre for a live podcast taping. The show was in the Egyptian Room, which is beautiful inside! I love the lights along the side of the walls. The space is essentially one room with rows of zip-tied chairs. Uncomfortable chairs with the inability to move them at all? No thanks. We were sitting towards the back, and people could pay $10 per person for "riser access" which gave people the choice of tables/chairs that were placed on risers. Employees who were offering riser access were extremely loud throughout the first 20 minutes of the show so it was difficult to hear. The venue was okay, and I would come back here. It's just not the best place to see a show. Parking is $10.00 but it is cash only! We found a parking meter on the street right in front of the venue, and it cost $1.00 because parking was only enforced until 6:00 PM!! Definitely check the meters before you pay for the parking lot! read more

The drink prices are shockingly high. The bag policy is outrageous and they exploit their customers - if they think your bag is too big regardless of the dimensions allowed, they make you check it at coat check for a fee. The speakers in the Egyptian room sound like shit, and if you sit up front its extremely awkward. I won't be going to this place any time soon again. They milked me for every penny and that's all their getting from me. read more

I came to the Old National Centre for a Lauryn Hill concert (The Queen!). I loved the beauty of this building and the unique inner structure. As we walked in we were checked by security - which I thought was awesome! It definitely made me feel very secure! Our seats were on the balcony and was pretty far from the stage. We paid $64 for our tickets which we purchased in July because initially the Lauryn Hill concert was supposed to be in September. My brother however got his tickets 3 days prior to the event and was on row 7 on the first floor for $31 bucks. That was SO FRUSTRATING to hear. I think they should have offered us the option to move forward. I am guessing people sold their tickets back and they were trying to save a buck. That's fine, but next time I will definitely ask if there were closer seats available. We did love that the parking was only $10! That is not bad to park in the actual lot. What we didn't love was that our 'Sex on the Beach' drink was friggin $15, call me cheap but DANG - paying $30 for 2 drinks was not my ideal of a good night... I don't know, maybe I don't get out much.... Anyhoo, all in all, nice facility, clean bathrooms, easy access, safe but disappointingly our seats were far from the artist, drinks were expensive, and rows were a little tight. One thing that I would suggest is that they invest in larger screens so that the people in the balcony can actually see the artist. read more

Love the history behind this venue, love the way it looks inside. There are several concert venues inside, I have been to The Deluxe and The Egyptian Room...maybe there is a 3rd somewhere? Or like a theater? The building is also the Murat Shrine and many people still refer to it as such. Everything looks really cool and well lit and is well-maintained. How Ev Er. The drinks are insanely overpriced. We got a beer, a Maker's (gag) & coke, and a cookie and it was almost $30. Huh? Pretty crappy selection too, honestly...thus the Maker's...there just wasn't anything else. The last show we were at (down in the basement), the headliner actually apologized to us for the high cost of the tickets. The show the previous weekend the sound was all out of whack and you couldn't really hear the vocals. Some of this may be due to the odd ceiling...tray ceiling? I also don't think they do a very good job promoting smaller shows...perhaps more the fault of MOKB or Do317 or whoever...but still...throw a poster on the wall for Pokey LaFarge and J Roddy Walston...don't just act like the show isn't happening. Here's the big thing...the thing that REALLY makes me mad: We buy tickets to shows. Maybe this makes us suckers, but we like to support music. 2-3 weeks ago, NO ONE COLLECTED TICKETS. We had paid fifteen bucks a pop plus their stupid "handling fees" (to pick up at will-call), and half of the people at the show just strolled in for free after the Food Truck Fest. No one was at the merch table...we asked security and they said someone from the venue was supposed to be staffing it but he was "somewhere else still." There were at least 5 blue-shirted security people wandering around that night, plus several bartenders, and the sound people. No one could get it together to collect tickets or man the merch table. Lastly. When you're paying $5-15 more to see a show here than at Radio Radio or the Vogue, you would think that would be because the venue is nicer, right? More amenities? Wrong. Your expensive ticket (which you maybe didn't even need to buy) will let you walk into a huge standing-room-only room. If you want to have a table to put your drink on or a place to sit during the opener, you have to pay ADDITIONAL to get into the VIP area. If there is a coat check, I've certainly never found it. Oh, and if you are in the VIP area, Andrew Luck might harass you. True story. The parking situation is stupid too. When is Mass Ave going to build a parking structure like BR did? I don't mind parking a few blocks away and then walking...but having to HUNT for parking for 20-30 minutes is nuts. We were late for a show once because we didn't want to pay $10-20 for 2 hours and couldn't find a meter either. Come on, Old National, GET IT TOGETHER!!! There should be some tables, there should be some chairs, there should be a coat check, why not go for broke and bring in some risers along the sides so we can SEE the band? If you're going to charge $12 for a bourbon drink it should be a Woodford Manhattan, not a Maker's mixed with Coke! This old building is SO COOL...make it someplace people want to hang out, a destination, not someplace where they show up having already pre-gamed and bolt as soon as the show is over because the cost is so outrageous! read more

Having only lived in Indianapolis since June...I'm always eager to try new things. There really are a lot of things to do here in Indy! A friend of mine invited me to the John Prine concert last night at the Murat Theatre. I had driven by this place a couple of times...usually because I'm lost and looking for someplace else, but always commented to myself in my head: Ooohhh...that looks like an interesting place. I was not disappointed. The seats we had were Orchestra Center, which were excellent. The sound was great, the seats comfortable, and the ushers were helpful. The theatre was ornate and had an historic feel to it. My only negative comment is that it would have been nice if the seats had cup holders since you can purchase a cocktail and bring it in with you. BTW...the Bar was amazing! It looked like you could have any type of cocktail under the sun...or moon :-) I have to admit...this newby to Indiana had never heard of John Prine, so when I was invited, I had to Google him. I learned that he has been around for a while and is a Midwest favorite. To me, his music sounded like a mix of John Denver, Bob Seger, the Eagles...and Willy Nelson - haha! I thoroughly enjoyed the show and will be anxious to see other concerts here. read more

One of the worst venues into town. My biggest gripe, they charge a "convenience" fee at the their own box office. When I come to your place of business during your business hours to participate in the business you are involved in, who exactly is it convenient for? This on top of the facility fee they are already charging. Expect to pay 25% to 50% in fees for shows here. It's shameful. On to the venue itself, the main theater is actually not bad. It has some character. The Egyptian Room has a coolness factor just slightly above high school cafeteria. Deluxe? Great potential that never delivers. It was crazy hot in there the night we went and you have a decent chance of getting struck behind a pillar. read more

I love the decor of older theaters, which were built before the age of TV and movies. The attention to architectural flourishes that they contain is a lost art. Built around the turn of the 20th century, the theater has an Egyptian theme to it. Though charming, I felt the place could do with a bit of restorative work. It's an intimate venue, and having a fourth row seat for Bill Maher's traveling roadshow made me feel like I could have reached out and touched him. One drawback of being intimate, however was that the seats were a bit on the cozy side but I do a lot of airline travel sitting next to armrest hogs, so I was able to deal with it. [I think the thing that bothered me about this place the most was upon exit. The wait to get out was interminable. And as I waited, thinking about how jammed up we all were, I noticed that the exits would probably be inadequate in the event of fire. Given the age of the place and perhaps the materials used in construction are not as fire-resistant as those used today, I could see this place being a potential death trap. Let's hope the Fire Codes and the enforcement of them are up to par.] EDIT: The manager of the Theater contacted me and discussed emergency procedures and the issue that particular night--that they were controlling crowds to use certain exits, whereas in an actual emergency all exits would be leading out, so I'll bump my review up. I appreciate that they take safety very seriously to give me such a quick response. read more

I simply do not approve of this name change, however...it's a reality...and, well, they kept "Murat" in there! Although I'm very weary because of how folks have so easily gone to calling Deer Creek, "Verizon," and before that the "Hoosier" Dome became "RCA" without a flinch. And, now, "Lucas Oil." and, sigh, "Old National," is really inevitable. All this certainly says something about how cozy we are with brands in our lives...(turn left at "Wal-Mart, go past Citgo & then on your left by Subway is..."). Having said all this...it doesn't take away from the local experience of our beloved Murat. The Shriners took time off from driving little cars in parades to build this, well, shrine of entertainment. The turkish-style turret is the beacon of intrigue in Indy. One saving grace for our tiny skyline is that this architectural wonder stands out. I prefer the Egyptian Room (for those that don't know...there are two venues in this space) and the Egyptian is a giant concert hall with a wide, wide stage that's Standing Room Only. As for the theatre..it's intimate, and, at times cramped. When I was young, young, young they didn't allow drinks into the theatre, but now it seems tall boys and whiskeys are floating around throughout the venue which is...well...a way to justify the yawping "arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrribas" that I hear from women aged 37 and single, every time I see a show here. Oh, note...going to the box office for Live Nation events doesn't save you any money...there's still a fee. read more

Two and a half stars is more accurate for this place. I love the rooms and the architecture in this old building. And I've always marveled at the engineering masterpieces that are the Murat's cavernous restrooms. No waiting here. So, what knocks this place down to 2 stars? How about the fact that my two concert tickets cost $45 for the pair... but one Miller Lite, a Makers and Coke, and a cookie cost $29. Seriously? Is that a $9 beer, a $12 cocktail, and what? An eight dollar cookie? I can't make the math work in any way that doesn't blow my mind! I mean it was a good cookie, but eight dollars? Or was it a $3 cookie and a $17 Makers? I'll take a show at the Vogue or Radio Radio any day over this place. Even the performers have made coy remarks about how they'd rather perform at the other local venues. So how do you tell the story of a building that houses multiple venues for todays varied performers, performances and audiences, that was originally constructed over 100 years ago? In my best Elmer Fudd, verwyyyy carefuwyyyy, hahahahahah! So pay attention and I'll tell you the story you've longed to hear. It was 28 Feb, 1910 when the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine replete with Potentates, Nobles and Ladies, opened the state-of-the-art Murat Theater within the Murat Temple at the corner of E Michigan and N New Jersey streets. The Indy Shriners named the ornate building, complete with Islamic, Arabic and Egyptian architecture, after Joachim Murat (Mur-ah), a general serving Napoleon in Italy and Egypt back in the day. The original theater of those Potentates, Nobles and Ladies, the venue that so many of todays theater goers love to hate, has had the Indianapolis Symphony and Indianapolis Opera Company call its original 1,950 seats home over the years. But wait say you, todays' web-o-matic says there are 2,600 seats in that space. S'up wit dat?!? So this is where the pissing and moaning starts! In '95 the Indy Shriners saw income decreasing and refurbish costs skyrocketing so in an attempt to stop the madness, they struck a deal with Sunshine Promotions, todays Live Nation. A-HA! Now I wasn't there, but i imagine it could have gone something like this... "Tell yous what...yous guys pony up da dough for da fixes and we's 'ill give yous a 99 year lease... AND yous can even jam in anudder 600 or so's chairs... AND charge des mooks anudder saw-buck just fur da prillage ta buys a ticket. What say's yous?!? Well, maybe not like that but you get the picture. Money was tight and this was a way to save a truly historic theater! Give and take and... get took so to speak. As Pharaoh said in the days of Yule Brenner... So let it be written, so let it be done! And all that, brings us today, to reviews with "bad sight lines, big heads in the way, narrow seats, no leg room, no slope, poor acoustics, bad signage, expensive booze, steep stairs to long pee lines, crowded intermissions, chaotic clustersf*@!"(wow that IS harsh) and finally...neanderthal patrons who can't tell time or understand the words "your, don't, electronic, turn, talk, off and device" no matter how they are arranged and regardless of punctuation!?! And now for the the other side. After 2 decades of supporting this venue and its myriad of shows and performances from Widespread Panic to Radio City Music Hall's Rockettes High Kick'en Christmas Extravaganza with live Camels to Little Feat post Lowell George, to Friday nights' Book of Mormon and all things in-between, you too can survive the FUBAR. 1. Always GO EARLY to the Murat box office to buy your tickets. You'd be surprised at how helpful the underpaid ticket person can be. 2. Save your pennies (actually fives or tens would be better) and buy the best tixs you can afford for Broadway Touring shows. From an acoustic and visual standpoint shoot for something in the center section (orchestra) at least 15 rows back and no further back than EE under the balcony or on either side in the first 10 seats off the inside aisles. Believe it or not the seats are in fact offset just a little in each row and yes there is a gentle slope to the stage almost the entire length of the theater on the main floor. 3. The Balcony is also not a bad way to go. In the upper air, look for the first 15 rows with the same rules off to the sides as the main floor. 4. Yes, seats are narrow, check your coat, and loose some weight lard butt. 5. Yes, leg room is airline like. Deal with it and stand up when someone needs to get by...be a human being! 6. Yes your first experience with this theater can be confusing, but if you arrive early, take your time, you should be able to figure it out. There are signs and arrows, kinda like driving a car, not rocket science. 7. Don't buy the overpriced watered down hootch and you won't have to piss and moan about pissing and moaning in long lines at intermission thus avoiding chaotic clusterf*@!(wow that IS harsh). Heck, I'm the poster boy for an AA ad and even i can go without for a couple hours. 8. If, like me, you suffer from WMD (think about it, short and slow), all you can do is pray to the higher power of your choice that no NBA player taller than Muggsy Bogues sits in front of you, cause if you get two NFL Jeff Saturdays side by side, you ain't see'en much. I don't care what venue you're in, you can just Listen to the Music. 9. As for the Neanderthals, you know, i hate to say it but, i beleive it has gotten worse over the years. The only thing you can do is call them on their inappropriate behavior from incessant talking to the ubiquitous cell phone fumbling. Call em fast and call em often, just don't call em on your phone, no pun intended. 10. Finally, when you go to the Murat, go in Steely Dan style, do it with your Fez on! read more

I bought ticket's to see The Bian Culbertson XX Tour Concert and the Concert has been Postponed to a year from now in 2021. I asked Ticket Master for a refund, because I will not be able to attend next year. I was told that it is up to the Event Producer's as to refunds. Ticket Master would no tell me who produced the Event. I would like to know who has my $252.60 and how to get my refund. I am very upset as to how this event is being managed and would like for it to be legally investigated and reported to the Better Business Bureau. read more

They may draw great bands...but the venue, and ALL of it's employees RUIN the evening. Old National Centre employs undereducated morons in their 50s and 60s for the event I was at. We had VIP tickets to Awolnation and the entire experience was a nightmare with all of their policies. Trying to get a drink @ the VIP bar was a joke since they employed a senile man about ready to fall over dead. He spent approx...10 minutes making each drink and got the person ahead of me's order wrong not once, not twice, but THREE times. It would have been quicker to go to the bar in the middle with it's long line. The staff is just wretched beyond belief. Not a single person could tell us the appropriate direction of anything and having to show our tickets each time to get in the door was a joke since they obviously remembered us. I'm 6'5...they didn't forget me. The venue itself looks like some place you would have a baptism. The VIP seats were painfully awful. We're talking cheaply made risers. I think the worst part of the evening is that despite the fact that it's a band which typically would only draw young people...there were ages ranging from infant-almost dead. I saw the Book of Mormon on 6-22-14 at 1pm. The show was awesome, but it's doubtful that I'll ever attend this venue again. I'm a 5'9" and 141 pound male, and I felt cramped the whole show. There's not enough room in the seats, no separation between seats and not enough room for legs. It was very hot inside. Also, it took so long for people to take their seats and to get out, if a fire was to break out, it seems like we'd all be fried (those that didn't get trampled to death). There are plenty of venues in Indy that are safe, with pleasant temperature, and with adequate room. Try the IRT, Hilbert Theatre or another local spot. If your show is only playing at the Murat, check the Chicago, Cincy, Louisville, etc shows. It will be well worth the extra cost and expense to avoid having to go to the Murat. read more

The theatre is beautiful, but has so many problems with functionality. The seats are not made for people in 2018. There is NO leg room. Literally none. Not even on an isle seat are you able to cross your legs. It's also always very very warm in the theater. I have sat up close, middle way back, & upstairs & everywhere is too warm. It distracts from the performance. Also.. bathrooms are downstairs. & the last time I went was to a Christian concert & the ladies cleaning the restrooms used EVERY single expletive known to man. Definitely time for some upgrading. read more

We've been here several times for various events - a whiskey event, comedy shows, musical, and many concerts, including a holiday themed concert. There are 3 venues within: Old National Centre, Murat Theater, and Egyptian Room. The Egyptian room is a huge, carpeted room and I've attended where it's open standing floor and then again for a comedy show where they put in chairs. With all event spaces, the chairs are usually too close and you sit very snug to your neighbor. They have a lofted side balcony that have table service if you're wanting to pay extra for that. The Murat is traditional theater seating with mezzanines and balconies, great for plays and musicals. There's not a lot of leg room between rows for the Murat either. They have many bars within the venue, inside and outside of the various rooms. They are a bit pricey but that's expected at any event. They have beautiful decorations and the entire building is so historically well-kept. Security can be a bit hectic and unorganized so it can be a little slow getting in. They are pretty strict with carding too but that's not necessarily a bad thing. read more

I love this venue. First of all, the location is great. It's within walking distance to the bars and restaurants on Mass Ave and there is a decent amount of parking in the area. I have sat everywhere from the second row in the center of the stage to the back of the orchestra level and even the balcony, and there really isn't a "bad" seat. Yes, some are better than others but that is obvious. The drinks are very pricey but that is to be expected at any venue like this. Oh, my senior prom was also held here so even though those bastards didn't elect me king, I have fond memories of rocking out to Freak Nasty and Hanson. read more

I keep frequenting this place because it's one of the two main venues in town that host Broadway shows. I wish there were other options but alas, there are so few. This venue is in a very central and easy to access downtown location. There is easy to find parking and dining all close by, but make sure you allow plenty of moving time from place to place, or else you'll be late making it to your show because there are only two public entrances. Also, go to the bathroom before you get in this building or hold it, there's never enough time during intermission since bathrooms are all downstairs. I'm rating this a three because of: - Restrooms are too far away from performance areas and there are too few for the capacity of the building. - Drink prices are extreme! $13 for a 1oz pour of well vodka? Unnecessary! - Bad crowd control. Like I said, I keep ending up at this venue, but only because there really aren't many other options. read more

We attended the Tim Allen comedy show recently. This is the 3rd or 4th time here. I have yet to have a bad experience. I've sat on the floor and in the balcony and have had excellent views in both places. The beer is very pricey, but that's to be expected. I'd reccomend purchasing a parking pass with your tickets, because the parking is limited. read more

I love the Old National Centre. I've seen shows at all 3 venues. If you go to a show at Deluxe, expect an intimate live music experience in the basement. These shows are usually packed and full of energy. Small crowd, big heart - and even in the back, you're not too far from the artists. The Egyptian Room is also standing room only, but much larger. Acoustics are great and it is mostly carpeted. The Murat is your standard theatre with actual seating; I've always had a good view. Only downsides are that 1) especially in the area around the Egyptian Room, there's no where to sit and drink or chat between sets and 2) the drinks are absurdly priced. I'd recommend pre-gaming on Mass Ave beforehand. Though their drinks ARE good - just very expensive. Their signature drinks for certain bands can be fun. read more

I've seen a few bands here. REM, the Strokes, Ben Folds, The White Stripes, etc... Most of them have been in the Egyptian room, which is general admission standing. I have been way up front for nearly all of them. I nearly went deaf when the Walkmen played because I was next to a speaker, but it is a great atmosphere. Awesome place. More intimate when there are only a thousand or so people. Not like Verizon. When the White Stripes played, they were so loud that tiles fell from the ceiling. Don't know if that is a good or bad thing. REM was in the bigger part, where I actually sat down. Kind of lame for a rock show, but it was still nice. Expensive tickets, but great show. read more

Today's review is one of thanks. I've been to the Old National Centre for 2 concerts. They were pretty good, I was able to find parking on the streets and they do keep lines of two different shows well organized. But today made me love this venue. I am so excited I got my ticket for SZA in Indy! I was so bummed when tickets sold out in 15 mins about two weeks ago! Across the nation, 3rd party ticket vendors bought the SZA tickets and left few for her fans, then up their prices 2-3X the original price ($25). But thanks Old National Centre, they heard their city cry and decided to change the room to offer more seats AND putting a system in place to restrict the sale of tickets from 3rd parties vendors. They are even allowing folks to call their office to see if their 3rd party vendor tickets are legit! Great job! read more

Old National Centre is pretty cool from the outside, and I hate to disrespect such an iconic old venue. But, it's pretty bad as large theaters go. But both shows I've seen lately in the main theater at ONC were disappointing. For Trevor Noah, they oddly left the lights on which are positioned on the bottom side of the balcony, so when you're sitting anywhere under the balcony on level 1 (starting around 15-20 rows back from the front) your view of the stage is obscured by the unnecessary light. For Book of Mormon, thankfully the lights were out, but the low balcony cuts out maybe the top 25% of the stage area. The view is just not easy on the eyes. To be honest, this is probably the worst theater I've ever been to as far as the sightlines. It's a pain to get in and out of the long, narrow rows, and of course the line for the bathrooms is legendary. Not somewhere I'd want to be in the event of an emergency. This place needs to be torn out and renovated, preserving the beautiful shell of the building. read more

Saw The Book of Mormon last night. Great show. Theatre was packed and the sound system was perfect. Yes drink prices are expensive but any performance venue you go to is the same. Typically a bit of a wait for the restrooms, especially women's. That line was crazy. Smart move of the event; they had not one but two fully stocked bars in the basement near the lines to the bathroom. Great service! Very friendly. read more

They jave several shows of all different types such as plays, concerts, musicals, comedy, etc which is a huge plus. The inside seating is a little hit or miss in my opinion, it is useful to know the theater a bit before purchasing tickets as the seating charts web can be a little miss leading. read more

I can't say I love as impressed with my experience here. The seats were very narrow which meant no arm space for you or your neighbor. This made sitting next to a stranger pretty awkward. The concert, however was great! read more

Went for first time to see So You Think You Can Dance Live. Sat in balcony left and could see the stage perfectly. Sound was great. Seats relatively comfortable. I appreciated there were bathrooms on that level. Lines for bathroom and food during 20 minute intermission went very slowly though. We were in line over 15 minutes for drinks with just 10-12 people ahead of us. read more
