As a small business owner, working with a community bank seemed like the appropriate thing to do. We chose OPT for that reason almost 6 yrs ago.
The people who work here are very nice. They seem to be held to stringent policies that prohibit them from making decisions to support extenuating circumstances, on a case by case basis.
After receiving an email from a great person at the bank, a VP, informing us of an overdraft, we took quick action to make a deposit, while traveling back into town. Called to see what was happening, and took swift action to take care of the issue, and later look into what caused it.
We've never had an overdraft, and an accounting glitch resulted in funds for our payroll inadvertently, being debited from OPT instead of another account at another bank. As a result, we were charged $140 for the overdrafts.
After 6 years of doing business with OPT and zero overdrafts, we were told there is nothing that they can do, "bank policy."
We are moving our business to a bank that affords their people the opportunity to make appropriate decisions in supporting long term relationships, problem solving support, and manage various circumstances as they arise.
I would not recommend Old Plank Trail Bank, or Wintrust. read more
