Old Pogue has reopened their family distillery using the modest home that was above the massive distillery on the banks of the river where Daniel Boone founded a trading post. The 3rd registered distillery in KY is now operating on the cliffs above where a fire burned the families historic distillery to the ground a half a century ago. The KY Bourbon Craft Trail has some real micro craft members who make outstanding Bourbon like Old Pogue but not many using pre-prohibition recipes. Go for a taste of great Bourbon and enjoy the history and scenery while your at it. We respected their rare Bourbon enough to cover it on You Tube's Kentucky Bourbon Traveler https://youtu.be/JnMH3gXxh0g

Where can old pogue bourbon be purchased?

Hi Maynard,H. like most scarce stuff the Pappy's, Full proof Wellers, it's a few small places that carry it. You can try it on the bar at Brian Alvey's Franklin, In Bourbon bar "The Mint". Buy it at Clifton Liquors, 1904 Frankfort Ave, Louisville… Read more

We're eager…read moreto find a top-tier burger place in the area, though unfortunately this fell a little short of our expectations. Decided to split the Silver Charm for an appetizer, and it came about ten minutes later. The onion rings were decent, good flavor and somewhat crispy. The accompanying sauces of barbecue and ranch were both good as well, though both were missing something to elevate them a bit more I think. The flavor was good, but quite a small portion for $10. My wife ordered the Strike the Gold Burger and I went for the Northern Dancer Crispy Chicken. The sandwiches came out about ten minutes after we finished the Silver Charm, which was perfect timing. She liked her burger pretty well, and I took a bite too. The "caramelized onions" were definitely more sauteed, with still a bit of crunch, and otherwise I could really only taste the barbecue sauce, which was tasty, but I would have liked some more varied flavors. My chicken sandwich was... a bit disappointing. Rather than a chicken piece that appropriately fit the bun, it was more of a chicken strip, with bites that would only yield bun. In addition, because the chicken piece was so small, it was also extremely dry, which is a bummer because I actually thought the breading was very tasty. The chipotle aioli was decent, but didn't pack as much spice or flavor as I was hoping. And with only two toppings and a sauce on the whole sandwich, I was disappointed that the tomato was rather mushy and didn't seem fresh. I will say the fries that came with our sandwiches were crisp and well seasoned, and somewhat unfortunately the best part of my meal. Based on our experience, I didn't hate our dinner here and if someone invited me to meet them here, I wouldn't say no, but I'm also not going out of my way to revisit.
