Old Port Spirits selection is so underrated. Conveniently located across from the ferry terminal, they have a seemingly endless collection of local beers (some of which you're able to take single cans of rather than buy the whole pack!) liquor, wines, and more. As someone whose palette isn't the most refined, I'm always able to find something sweet (Blueshine and the Strawberry Lemonade Vodka are excellent). The staff always have great recommendations and are super helpful. Great spot! read more

Visited 2-3 times during my visit to Portland! Easy to access as it's near a lot of stores and near main business area! Great selection and variety of beer, wine and spirits! Great customer service! On one of our visits, we mentioned that one of the beers we purchased the day before was awful tasting, the wonderful cashier up front was super validating and allowed us to exchange for an item of equal value. You know those places that you have walked by numerous times and never even realized they were there until someone points it out to you? That is how Old Port Spirits & Cigars came into my life. A friend told me about how they have an amazing selection of beers, hard alcohol, and wine, so I obviously had to check it out since alcohol is life. First off, when you walk in, the staff is amazingly attentive and sincere. Sometimes going into places like this, I can feel intimidated when someone is consistently looking over my shoulder, however, the staff at Old Port Spirits & Cigars make sure to let you know where everything is and let you have time to look for yourself. After some time to look at the wine selection, a staff member named Kevin came over and was able to answer my questions and he lead me to some wines that I hadn't heard of before. He was incredibly patient and knowledgeable about the store's options. Overall, Old Port Spirits & Cigars has an incredible selection of wines, spirits, and beers, and a lot of the options are local to Maine, which certainly is another perk. I was surprised to see so many organic wine options, which is something I don't typically look for, but everything is clearly labeled and organized. I'm not quite sure about the cigar selection that the store has, as cigars are not typically my thing, however, if their cigar selection is anything like their alcohol selections, I am sure it is great! This is by far the best beer and wine selection in the Old Port. Having walked around downtown, I am baffled as to how I never came across this place until now! Old Port Spirits is truly a hidden gem! As soon as you walk in the door you immediately greeted by an amazing display and variety of craft local beers. They hands down have the best selection of local craft beer that I have seen anywhere. They also have a ton of beers that aren't prechilled so that you don't have to buy a ton and completely overload your fridge right when you get home which I think is nice. They also have an amazing selection of wines with a variety of things that I have never seen before. It is very easy to spend an hour in this place just looking at all of the options they have. In addition to the wine and beer, Old Port Spirits also has a great selection of liquor and mixers. Just like their beer, they also support the local businesses and have some of the local liquors available for purchase. If the store wasn't already great enough, their prices are also pretty amazing. All of the prices that I saw were either the same or cheaper than I have seen at any other place in Southern Maine. The staff is also wonderful. Kevin specifically is amazing. While we were walking around, Kevin made himself available for any questions we had. He was very knowledgeable about all of the products they had and really helped us narrow down our search and find some new things to take home and try. This place is amazing! The store is bright, clean and nice bright wood lines the store. The wine selection is pretty decent, working on one of the whole walls. The other wall is split between a humidor and beer cooler. I don't know much about cigars but there is quite a large number of them! The beer selection is decent, with a good selection of the better beers, although not as plentiful as other places. Spirit selection is about as expected. Prices and selection are what I expected for it's location. Focusing on beer, wine, liquor and cigars crams a lot into one place and for that they have done a decent job. I think I would have rather seen a larger beer and wine selection and skipped out on the typical liquor store selection. read more

Stopped here few times to buy wine & beer to take back to the hotel room. Staff here is super friendly and helped me out to decide on what local brews to get to try. They have beer and wine also chilled in the fridges for you to take out to some of the restaurants in the area. They also have a cigar section for those interested. They open until 9pm most days so you have plenty of time to make your purchase and get to dinner. Prices are a bit on the high side but I look at it as a convenience tax. read more

We are thrilled to discover this place -- very good prices on some of the liquor we previously drove to New Hampshire to buy; good selection, especially considering its size; and very helpful service. We NEVER can find masticha, a favorite from our trip to Greece, in San Francisco and usually mail-order it from NY; the worker I asked (really expecting nothing) thought he had some in the cellar, and produced a very inexpensive bottle. They even have a selection of mezcal, competitively priced, which has just begun to show up in Maine. read more

Excellent selection of bourbon, including some harder to find allocated stuff. For those coming in from out of town, you'll be very pleasantly surprised with the state set pricing. Best craft beer selection in Portland and has surpassed craft beer cellar on my go to list to get a quality 4 pack of local Maine goodness. They also have an outstanding selection of craft spirits and wine. Prices aren't too bad and the store was clean and nicely presented. Staff were helpful and friendly without being too pushy. Glad to see another great craft beer supplier in the area just in case you arrive when the breweries close for the night. A definite must see if you are in the Portland harbor area. read more
