It's very unfortunate that they screwed up on our check TWICE. They sent me a check on May 7 but made it payable to our lender. It's a good thing I noticed and didn't deposit the check. They asked me to mail them back the check so they can issue a new one. Two weeks later, I still haven't received the check. When I called to follow-up, they said someone was pulling up my file and will call me back shortly. I waited all morning for the call which never came. When I called around 3pm to follow-up again, I was told the check was going out in the mail that afternoon. When I asked for an explanation as to why it took two weeks to send another check, I was told someone went on vacation and it had been sitting on that person's desk the entire time. WTH? In other words, if I didn't call to follow-up, God knows when I would have received the check! But the story does not end there. They did send me another check and I deposited it right away. Lo and behold, I get another phone call saying there was a clerical error -- they put a stop payment on the check. Seriously? They f*%k it up a SECOND time? It's a good thing the amount involved was just a few hundred dollars. But still!!! I've lost faith in this company and if I had a choice, I would rather not use them again...EVER! It boggles my mind how they can operate as a title company when they cannot even get their act together! I can forgive them for their first mistake...but for it to happen a second time is UNACCEPTABLE! read more

They do not look over anything for their customers. we received a bill for $400 and it was a special assessment we are stuck in for 32 years that the title company never told us about. I even asked them if 250 dollars is all I had to pay a year for the HOA and they said the only fee was the HOA fee. So not only did they not do their job they also lied to us. We are supposed to close in an hour and come to find out they spelled the names wrong on the contracts. Our mobile notary has been trying to reach out to them since yesterday with no response. This company must be to big to care about the customer. Being in a business that customer service is paramount, i understand that repeat and referral business is important. We sold our home and ORTC held onto the proceeds without telling anyone by phone or email over Christmas and New Year. Only once contacted did the send the wire to our bank despite having these instructions all along. As the most significant financial transaction in our life, this was deeply concerning and leads one to doubt their internal controls, checks, balances -never mind potentially deeper issues. These companies are entrusted with the most meaningful transactions and need to be impeccable in their actions and procedures. I am so disappointed in my experience with Old Republic Title Co, especially Caroline Sanchez Cruz. The last step in the refi process involves a whole lot of paperwork and it can be stressful and overwhelming. Ideally, getting through that process is done with someone patient, understanding, and professional. Unfortunately, Ms. Sanchez Cruz was none of those. My first contact with her was to set up a time to sign docs. Her brisk (curt) tone with me on the phone set the tone for the rest of the interactions. I asked if she could email the docs so I could look them over before we met, and her response was incredibly condescending, telling me how many pages there were, and agreeing to send them with a sigh. I asked her how much the check should be made out for, and she neglected to tell me I needed a cashier's check with documentation the funds were from my account. I arrived at the office, and she acted as though I was interrupting, and abruptly said I needed to go to the conference room. No greeting, no handshake, no welcome. So unprofessional. Then, when she saw my check, she said that was fine, but they only take cashier's checks. I said it would have been helpful to know that ahead of time. I said I'd prefer to sign after I got my cashier's check and, rather than apologizing for the lack of info on her part, she proceeds to tell me how much more this is going to cost me if I wait past that day. Really--that is a classic way to lose a sale for the financial company that sold me the loan (Land Home in Pinole--see my review there). I immediately called Land Home, told them I'd prefer not to work with Ms. Sanchez Cruz, and requested a notary come to my house. Brenna was great and took care of that so I could sign the following day (an option Ms. Sanchez Cruz did not give me; she preferred a threat to me to have to pay more for the loan). I went to my credit union (right around the corner), picked up the cashier's check, and will meet with another person tomorrow. Next time, I'll request a different title company--Ms. Sanchez Cruz lost a customer for Old Republic. read more

If I could give zero stars I would!!! They don't deserve 1 star! First of all, this complaint and review is for Wendy, the woman who works there that I unfortunately had to deal with. I needed my money back and was told by my agent that I could get my money wired to me within hours. I called Wendy and was told by her that she could not find my name in their system (which was a lie because my name was the number one main name for this) then she told me I could not get my money back unless I new the address, which I gave her and then she continued to claim how my name was still not found. I knew this was a lie because the confirmation email that was sent to us said that I could pick up my check or get it wired or mailed to me. Second of all, she was extremely rude and dry. She claimed this was all under my fiancé's name only (another lie). She gave me her company email to send her my account info for the wiring and said I will get my money if I send her the info by 1pm that day, which I did as soon as I got to work at 9am! Never got a response. Days go by and I'm forced to go up there on Monday and was late for work to get the check in person. This is illegal and they were liable to wire my money back that same day as promised. Wendy was rude and did not care and purposely ignored my emails. I will be taking this further because this is unacceptable. I do not trust them at all and will never deal with them again. All I got was a half hearted apology from the supervisor when I complained. Also, very odd how my name could not be found in their system when it's my name on the check refund....my name is very unique and I have yet to ever see it anywhere either. Don't be mad and take your frustration out in the clients just because you couldn't keep their money! read more

I used this company because my real estate agent wanted me to. She must have been getting a kick back from Caroline Sanchez Cruz. Six month after closing I receive a garbage bill that had not been paid. The escrow company didn't do their job to make sure everything dealing with the title was paid and current. They sure charge enough for that service and I find out that title insurance is worth nothing, it will not even pay the pass due garbage bill of the previous owners. My advice is use another Title company who is on the ball. read more

I just completed two escrows with Old Republic and Caroline Sanchez Cruz was the escrow officer for both escrows. I have found Caroline to be very professional and a pleasure to work with. She kept me updated of my escrow status and was very responsive whenever I have questions. She would email me back with answers in a very short time. If there is something amiss in the escrow papers, she is quick to fix. When we sat down to sign closing papers, she was very thorough in explaining each documents. Even on my second escrow, she did not have to go through same detail again because the first escrow was still recent, she still takes the time to explain to make sure I understand. She was very flexible in accommodating my appointment requests. At my second close, my five year old son was with me, and she was very engaging with my kid and offered paper for him to draw. When I asked if she can transfer my closing document files to a CD, she was eager to assist and even offer to shred the paper documents for me. I would like to share my experiences with Old Republic Title Company. The Ahwatukee office business development managers use predatory strategies in attracting realtors to use their sevices. My husband is a top-producing realtor whose patronage has been solicited for at least five years by Maureen M. This woman constantly texts him on Facebook messenger, visits his office, invites him to be her guest at company parties and dinners, and has gone so far as to visit my home several times while I am at work. I have never been included in any of the so-called 'marketing' activities. Why is Maureen visiting my husband alone at my home.....supposedly to 'drop off marketing materials'. Really? This behavior seems more personal than professional. After each 'marketing' activity Maureen is careful to post photos on social media of herself with my husband. From my perspective, the Ahwatukee Old Republic Title Company office cares very little about supporting families. It's all about getting business while enhancing the social life and reputation of employees. Please avoid this company if your realtor recommends it. After seeing the review below, I simply had to write one myself. As a Realtor who has dealt with countless title officers, I have found Caroline Sanchez to be head and shoulders above the rest. She is professional, knowledgeable, diligent and pleasant. I've even had an investor client notice her professionalism and request her again for all future transactions! It seems that perhaps the previous reviewer was not well-prepared by their Realtor. First of all, many of the issues the reviewer brings up should have been handled by their Realtor, not the title officer. Prior to signing I request and review the HUD-1, then let my buyer know to bring a cashiers check in the required amount. I also attend the signing with my buyer, because, yes, it can be stressful and overwhelming. The buyer often has questions during the signing that only their Realtor can address. I'd venture to guess that Ms. Sanchez is undeservedly at the receiving end of someone's misdirected frustration. read more
