The Tavern is an amazing restaurant at the clubhouse at Old Toccoa Farm Country Club. The atmosphere is relaxing and very welcoming. The staff were so polite and enthusiastic upon arriving at the parking lot. Golf cart attendants were very informative and friendly when we arrived and asked for directions. Upon entering the building next the the Pro Shop the hostess greeted us and sat us near a window seat. The views are spectacular from this hilltop view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Ben was our server and handed us menus that were extremely simple and easy to follow. Ben went over the specials for food and drinks and within 15 minutes our food was served. We both ordered brunch foods I had the pancakes, eggs and bacon while my wife enjoyed eggs Benedict. All foods were tasty and delicious with one exception was that the eggs Benedict were slightly over cooked and yolk lacked fluidity. However, the lady at the table next to us ordered the same meal and hers came out perfect. Without complaining we assumed that the delicious smoked bacon on my plate may have taken extra time and my wife's egg yolks may have sat and cooked firm while my bacon took extra minutes. Not a problem, still satisfied with flavor!! The staff and location deserves 5 Stars and two thumbs up for extraordinary service and hospitality. We are looking forward to going back and will make a reservation to make sure we get allowed inside by the security gatekeepers Kevin and Mr. Tennessee. read more

terrible on every level...... please know I am the first to want to give a good review on a restaurant.... music annoying and juvenile, not conducive to relaxing.....service stank. no refills offered.. no utensils given..coffee cold...burger tasted like it was defrosted in microwave, it had a frozen back taste, and so did the chocolate cake ( which I was given no fork for)....and tiramisu. big fat disappointment.....they have a lot of nerve. charging $12.00 for hard..old...defrosted tasting chocolate cake...and by the way if you want really good tiramisu go to the Olive Garden. they should train their waitresses, and use fresh food for what they are charging..what a joke...country club..reservations....why??? The stall in the ladies bathroom smelled of strong, aged urine ; probably due to the mat on the floor in front of the toilet that has accumulated urine. It was nauseating and extremely concerning.. there were no cars in the parking lot or guests in the dining room. Word gets around! read more

The place is beautiful! The guard at the gate was wonderfully welcoming and informative. The hostess was friendly until she found out we didn't have a reservation. Even though it wasn't quite 4pm and the place was empty. She just didn't know if they could seat us. Finally we had a table. Our waitress was very friendly and nice. Don't remember her name but she had a German accent. Lovely lady. Food was fast. Steak was one of the worst ones we'd ever had. My smash burger was greasy. Not fine dining level. Very misleading from what is presented online. First, you have to present your ID before stepping onsite the property. The restaurant is not a quiet and upscale atmosphere but a very loud and busy place. Came here on a bachelorette trip expecting upscale service and hospitality. First off, the restaurant has an absolutely gorgeous view, especially if you sit outside. Much quieter than dining inside which was quite loud. However, there were a lot of flies. Be aware of this if you opt for patio dining. Food and service was good. We did have a couple of times where things were brought to our table instead of the next table over. Our drinks were kept topped off and the server was attentive. Be aware there is a 3% service charge that is split among the kitchen staff. First time playing Old Toccoa Farm course today and it was phenomenal! Every hole is different with several running up in the hills with breathtaking mountain view's while others spread out alongside the Toccoa River. The greens are in pristine condition and the challenges on each hole certainly justify the high slope rating. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating and lunch at the Tavern was terrific. All told, OTF is a perfect golfing experience. read more

Made reservations at the tavern with the family. What was supposed to be a terrific time, ended up being a timely disaster. We were sat alone by some regulars. We knew they were regulars quickly by how they were treated. (Which is normal, I understand that if you are a regular somewhere, and spend your money often somewhere, you'll get treated well.) But it becomes an issue when that affects the service others should be receiving. We ordered before them, and they still got their appetizers before us. The manager, Heidi, brought out our appetizer, and gave it them! My wife over heard her say "I'm not sure who's this is, I believe it's an extra one if you guys want it" and gave it to them! When we mentioned we were still waiting for our appetizer, after an hour of being there, she came back out and blamed the kitchen and said it would be comped. (It was never comped) So they got 3 appetizers (one for free) before we even got ours. I'll give this place 2 stars for the view. But unless you're a regular, I'd stay away. read more

A beautiful place! In nice weather the patio is perfect and over looks the golf course. With heaters for cool evenings. The place was packed and even though we had a reservation we had to wait a good while to be seated. I think this might have been due to cold and having to pull people in from the patio so it set their seating behind. We had a party of 8. I got the salmon on wild rice. It was very tender. The rice was good but different. A little bit of a sweet taste with pieces of apple in it. I like different but if you are going for traditional, maybe not for you. My husband got the steak and said it was pretty good. read more

Enjoyed this hard to find gem. Didn't get to play golf but hope to return and play in the future. Had a couple of painkillers, salmon on the caeser salad. Delicious dinner at The Tavern! We enjoyed the pecan- crusted trout and bone-in pork chop. The staff and service were great. The restaurant was closed for a private event but we were still able to get takeout and the complementary champagne for guests staying on the property. Well, we made reservations for Father's Day for a group of 5 on the patio. They tried to seat us on the lower level so we asked to be relocated to the dining room. When we made reservations, there was no mention of a limited menu. Turns out there were three overpriced entrees: Burgers, surf n' turf and veal. Very disappointing. No attempt by the staff to make things right. We left without ordering, evening ruined. read more

Had brunch with friends for first time here. First, view is excellent, outdoor seating is a plus. Service was courteous and hostess was excellent. Sat on the patio and they made every effort to make us comfortable. I would rate the food we had as mediocre. Wings were good. Trout dip was cheesy but seemed to lack the fish. Please take the Shatshuka off the menu until it is made correctly. The menu description said the tomato stew had beans and potatoes. Tomatoes had an odd flavor and had to search for the few beans added and not a potato in sight. Two eggs on top should be lightly poached not dry and overcooked. The menu said avocado added. Searched and found one small slice. Huge bowl of cooked tomatoes with 3 small, thin slices of bread. Asked for more bread and was charged $2 for 3 more of the same!?? Unfortunate and not customer friendly since it needed larger pieces to begin with. I was disappointed and regret that I ordered this dish and wish I had just gotten a salad with a protein. I will return and try dinner and send it back to the kitchen if it doesn't meet the basic standards for taste and preparation. Restaurant prices are too high to have mediocre food. Fingers crossed that the dinner is worth the price and meets the menu description. read more

This place looks like a 19th hole bar and grill. The location is picturesque and the ambience is relaxed, subdued and inviting. The dishes are very basic, but over the top delicious. I had waffle and chicken. It was hot and sweet. The waffle was fresh made and the chicken was crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. We had corn fritters and trout dip for appetizers. Both were exceptional. They have a great selection of beers on tap. The service was friendly and efficient. Truly a hidden gem. read more

This is strictly a restaurant review since we didn't partake in any golfing. First off, this restaurant is in a gated community and the restaurant is definitely not easy to find especially at night. We had high hopes for this restaurant since the reviews were really good. We had reservations fir 7:30 and didn't get seated until almost 8:00, which is pretty unacceptable for a restaurant of this scale. We wanted to start with the trout dip, but they were out of it and out of lemonade. But hey, no big deal. We started with the nachos, which were pretty good. For entrees, we got a variety of options and all were decent. The fish and chips were pretty good. Good batter on the fish and the fries were below average. The trout was pretty good and so was the chicken picatta. Overall, this place just wasn't anything special. And for the high prices they charge, I'd expect the food to be amazing and it certainly wasn't amazing. read more

I had been looking forward to playing this golf course for a long time but circumstances prevented me from doing so until today. On the one hand, it was everything I expected and then some in the way of beauty, difficulty, and how well it is maintained. Adding to that was the welcome one receives from the moment of arrival, from the bag men who rush to take your bag out of the car and place it into a cart to the starter who kindly offered insight and tips on how to play the course. It's also a nice touch to provide a driving range where you can hit as many balls as you want to warm up before the round as part of the amenities, something typically only offered at private courses. Unfortunately, after I finished the third hole, I ran into a foursome ahead of me. They were very slow, as was the foursome in front of them who were playing behind another group that was as slow if not slower as they searched for lost balls every hole, and so on and so on. From the 4th hole on, I had to wait 10-15 minutes every time I hit. I made the turn and played #10, and then waited with the group ahead of me on the 11th tee box as the group in front of them were driving around the vegetation on both sides of the 11th fairway searching for balls. At that point I had had enough and for the first time in fifty years of playing golf I quit and drove back to the car. I mentioned the situation to the very nice gentleman in the pro shop and asked if there was any way I could get a rain check for nine holes so I could come back and play the back nine another day when the course wasn't so backed up. He was very understanding but only offered to charge me a nine-hole rate ($50) and refund the $25 difference between the 9 and 18 hole fee. In summary, if the course has a drawback it is slooooooooow play and the lack of any rangers on the course to move players along. I guess this is the price to pay to play an otherwise unique, unusually beautiful golf course. Take way the slow play, the golf course is every bit of 5 stars. Add the slow play, it's impossible to rate because I have never had a more miserable day after the 3rd hole, made worse by not being given a chance to come back and enjoy what I paid for. read more

The course plays like a links course and a mountain course. A tremendous amount of elevation change making club selection difficult. Landing in the fairway is just the beginning to where your ball rests. A must play for Georgia golfers. High handicap golfers better bring some extra balls as most of the course is in play with very few red stakes. Bring your own refreshments and snacks because the clubhouse has gone a little overboard on COVID 19 precautions. I'd play again. read more
