John was extremely helpful in helping us decide the correct size and suggested beads to help find the middle ground between fitting over her knuckle and staying in place once on her finger. John also noticed that the prongs on the ring had come slightly loose and educated us on checking regularly (and what to check) to ensure the stone stays in place. John was honest with us throughout the process, but respectful of what we needed and wanted for such an important part of our lives. After my local jeweler here in NJ told me he'd 'really rather not' repair my Navajo and Zuni jewelry, I found Old Town Jewels online. The first repair they did for me was to replace a rather large, shaped, mother of pearl stone in a older Zuni ring which had fallen out and been lost. I was a tad nervous about shipping the ring off far from home, but Diane was gracious, and professional. The ring came back looking better than before, and I knew I had found the place I could finally trust to repair future pieces. So, this year, while contemplating what to do with a pair of great vintage Zuni earrings, I was poised to buy -- I got an idea and emailed Diane at Old Town -- asking, admittedly somewhat unfairly on my part, for a very quick response -- would they be able to convert old stone inlay earrings into finger rings, with bands in the appropriate old style? I knew I may not be able to get a reply as fast as I needed to, but took a chance. With Diane's gracious - and rapid - assurance that their silversmith Henry Yazzie, could indeed do it, I went for it -- I bought the earrings, and shipped them to their shop, along with another ring by the same artist, which also needed some repair, to be used as a model for the design of the ring bands. Having small wrists and fingers I find it necessary to get my pieces resized. I've had a bad experience at another local jewelry store so I was hesitant to try again but Old Town Jewels blew me away! You can really tell Henry Yazzie is an expert Native American jeweler. I've had him make a large stone into a three shank cuff with stamp work and I get compliments on it everyday. I recently had him make a Zuni bolo into a cuff as well which I expected would take a long time since each stone needed to be taken out but I got it in under a week! You can tell all the employees are like family and really enjoy their profession. After meeting the owner Kelly Haj its obvious that he works hard and strives to make his customers and staff happy. My lapis and turquoise inlay ring that I had owed and worn everyday for over 25 years needed to be repaired after a local jeweller here in Far North Queensland, Australia nearly destroyed it in a failed attempt to resize it. Not wanting to give up on a treasured and prized possession I scoured the internet for options. I contacted Diane at Old Town Jewels via email and included photos enquiring if my ring could be saved. My husband bought me one of the most thoughtful and beautiful gifts he has ever gotten me, a huge turquoise cuff. The only problem was it was too large and as heavy as it was- would not stay on. After several local jewelers respectfully declined to touch it My husband researched several jewelers specializing in Native American jewelry and ultimately chose Old Town jewels for the repair. We could not be happier!!! The cuff now fits like it was made for my arm, the stones were reset so I know they are secure and everything was done in a professional and timely manner. I had gotten a necklace for my birthday from a different jeweler and after an hour of wearing it I noticed a piece of onyx was missing. I contacted the seller who wouldn't assist, and a few other silversmiths that never got back to me. Finally I found Old Town Jewels through a Google search. I emailed them asking if they could do the repair and they responded right away. Kalil was so nice and helpful. The repair was speedy as well. I first contacted them on September 24th and when all was said and done I received my repaired necklace on October 7th! It was as good as new, and even better since they polished the entire piece! I needed work/repair on 3 Native American jewelry pieces and, being in Ohio, there was no where local to that I knew of to get this type of work done. I searched online and found Old Time Jewels, contacted them and promptly received an estimate for the work. I took a chance and sent my jewelry off to Arizona. I was contacted when the jewelry arrived and contacted again when it was finished with the total cost. I paid and then received my jewelry safely back within a week. I am beyond happy with the work. While I was in AZ on vacation, my son and I were shopping in Old Town, We went into Old Town Jewlers looking for a ring and the gentleman helping us out was very nice and helpful, (no pressure like in some of the shops) we got to talking about a bracelet I had bought a few years back that broke and had it fixed but it did not hold. Kalil told me about his silversmiths that work right in the shop, he said that if I send a picture of it they would give me a price. My once beautiful watch had lain in drawer due to my clumsiness and stupidity, I couldn't find a jeweller in the UK to replace lost turquoise and allowed myself to be talked into having sad yucky resin put in place of the stones. It looked so awful I couldn't bear to wear it. I checked online and found Old Town Jewels, I was a wee bit anxious about sending my watch from Scotland to Arizona but I was reassured and kept updated by Kalil on progress and I've just had my watch returned. A turquoise stone fell out of one of my favorite belt buckles so I searched online and decided to contact Old Town Jewelry. The replied to my email inquiry very promptly. I then sent photos of the piece and responded with a quote and timing in a day or so. The quote was very fair so I shipped by buckle to them. They confirmed receipt of the buckle and completed the repair ahead of schedule. They matched the stone very well; buckle is as good as new. Diane is a true pleasure to work with. I sent a stone inlay buckle (Tom Lewis) to the shop for repair. The stone had a crack running through most of the buckle and was missing a small piece of onyx (or jet). You could feel a separation ridge all along the crack. Bottom line....for a great price, the silversmiths replaced the stone, polished the ridge out and stabilized the crack. Repairs were way beyond my expectations. It looks brand new! They responded quickly with a reasonable quote and answered all my questions through the process of shipping and return. The necklace had to be restrung, one bead replaced, and have a new clasp. I recently was looking to find someplace to have some vintage Native American silver & turquoise watch cuffs repaired. Something that is hard to find in Kansas. They produced and replaced missing parts and a broken stone. The design, fit, and finish of the replaced parts were dead on. I have a large turquoise pendant that fell onto the floor and the turquoise came out of the setting and broke. I researched and found Old Town Jewels online (I live in Texas) and sent the pics. I asked Alex "to add a loop and make the shank smooth. Don't remove it, just have them make it smooth so it doesn't rub on the skin." I pick up the button and the jeweler removed the entire shank! So upset and disappointed. They removed the origin of the item from its history of being a button. That was the original charm of the piece from one button collector to another. It was very unprofessional of this jeweler to not have paid attention to the details/direction for my personal item. It's a grave error. I wouldn't go to this jeweler or trust them to do the job correctly.
