The new owner, Nadim (who wants customers to call him Django) also engages in the egregious practice of price gouging and selling expired food. Take Note: NONE of rhe locals eat at Canyon Alpine Restaurant any more - we are all waiting for the owner to go out of business and sell it to someone who will bring it back to some semblance of a decent diner again. The only customers this restaurant has are people who've never eaten there before, and very few of them return. So so yourself a favor and avoid this 'restaurant' at all costs!

The building is unassuming, always looks closed, but serves up great milkshakes and handhelds. I've seen people eating burgers and dogs here, but the vast majority are trying to beat the heat with the ice cream. Varying flavours, in my opinion, best utilized in shake format. All burgers come with Fries and range in price depending on their toppings, no one had a problem enjoying one, that's for sure. The real star was the Clubhouse Sandwich, everyone was envious: huge slabs of turkey breast made the sandwich like four inches (10 cm!) thick. You can share fries since the servings are huge. The decor inside is dated AF but at least there is Air Conditioning. The guy working the counter is friendly enough, willing to explain menu items but doesn't always seen up for a chat. The bathroom is passable plus, as is the general tidiness of everything you sit on or touch. Worth stopping at especially for the Milkshakes!

I'll be honest, they were absolutely delicious, and fresh, and fluffy and sweet and glazed, but mine absolutely did NOT have much of a maple taste - like, AT ALL. It was like the glaze on a Krispy Kreme glazed donut. Delicious, yes, and sugary, but not maple-y. My kid's berry one was very subtle in its berry flavor. Again, excellent, but not knock-out berry-y. To me, these treats were similar to donuts without the holes. More like fluffy fritters. Delicious, but not as unique as I thought they'd be. As for the coffees....my maple latte, again, sadly, did not taste at ALL maple-y. But it was an excellent coffee: very smooth and flavorful. You could tell the beans were excellent. There just was no maple taste. But my kid had a berry latte (again, I forget what kind), but this drink was EXCELLENT and it totally DID have a distinct berry flavor to it, and it was wonderful! First things first, this place probably has one of the best spots in town with an amazing beach view. The staff is also pretty charming and friendly. But the food? Really, really average. The pizza was meh, the tomato was not tomatoing, though the crust was fine. The pasta was probably one of the saddest ones I've ever had. It was literally just pasta sauce dumped over spaghetti. Not only that, but the flavor was so bland that I had to sprinkle whatever I could find on the table over it. I wouldn't even serve myself something like that at home, like seriously.
