I had mine with fruit, which was fresh, but having tried the potatoes, I think that's the way to go! The only note is that they do put the salsa in the wrap, and so it does tend to leak out the bottom. The rest of the table got the salmon lox which looked phenomenal. Large portions of smoked salmon. The scrambled eggs are fluffy. And the onions and capers add really nice acidity. I am not a coffee or tea drinker, so unfortunately I can't speak to their drinks too well.

Take Note: NONE of rhe locals eat at Canyon Alpine Restaurant any more - we are all waiting for the owner to go out of business and sell it to someone who will bring it back to some semblance of a decent diner again. The only customers this restaurant has are people who've never eaten there before, and very few of them return. So so yourself a favor and avoid this 'restaurant' at all costs!

Merritt is a ghost town on Sunday…read more Being from Vancouver, I bounced out of the motel at a chipper and squirrel-like 10am and strolled down to the ten or so streets that make up downtown Merritt expecting to take my pick of brunch places. I tend to assume small towns are churchy because I watch a lot of movies and documentaries based from the USA, so I had visions of post-church families in crowded diners eating adorable meals and drinking tea. This is not so. There was nothing open. Except fast food, the Coldwater (I'll review that one later,) and Mandolin's which is near the grocery store. They had cornered the market, so I thought they didn't really need to try anymore. But holy hell, their bagel melt was awesome! They roast the turkey themselves, then add dill cream cheese, some onions, peppers, lots of cheese, and maybe other stuff, I lost track, but it is really good! Their coffee is good too. And they have soy milk. And Wifi! So I could just hang out there all day and work on stuff. Yay! If you find yourself in Merritt on a Sunday, totally go here.

It was quiet when we arrived and then got quite busy. I love how they have a self serve soup station and all you can drink soup if you choose that option. The soups were wonderful. Hearty and hot. 5/5 split pea and ham soup 5/5 beef barley 3.5/5 smokey mountain bourbon BBQ beef and mozzarella burger. It was good but a little heavy on the BBQ sauce. Wasn't able to taste the beef or the bacon very much. 2/5 triple mayo Parm fries. A bit lacking. When it first came it didn't have any Parm on it. After speaking to the server she kindly got it topped with Parm. The fries were okay but came unsalted which is fine. After 5 mins it cooled down and it got kinda hard and was no longer good to eat. Other than the honey mustard mayo, the other two (garlic and another one) basically tasted the same. Very understaffed, not sure if it was just this day as we've only been here once, but it was only one server running the entire restaurant. Would I come back? Yes. Probably.
