Now for the review of the actual show! This show was amazing. The amount of detail put into each of the sets and the costumes was absolutely jaw dropping and completely exceeded my expectations. The acting was phenomenal and truly made you feel that you really were in another world. I was told by a worker at the bar that you could go to this show 4 times and have a different experience each time. I would definitely not mind doing this show multiple times to be able to see ALL of the sets, costumes, scenarios and different pieces of the story. Immersive theater at its finest! I flew from New York to see this show and it was worth it. My 2nd event at the vaults and I can promise I'll be back for more. DO NOT MISS THIS.

We had an amazing time, but my god this place sticks to the 'original' Alice = totally mind altering! Located in Waterloo Vaults, you first enter into a bar and merchandise area, at which point you're asked to check your coat and bag in. There is a bar available but, having been to Cubana for a happy hour cocktail beforehand, we were just ready to get started. This is also the opportunity to pre-order your drinks for the Mad Hatter's Tea Party if you so wish - white or red wine, or a gin and cucumber cocktail at £5 a pop. The experience itself is hard to describe, partly because there's just so much going on your brain can hardly comprehend and partly because I don't want to ruin anything for those who want to attend in the near future. Four different stories unfold alongside one another, culminating in a huge court scene with the ferocious queen and interspersed with all the well known characters. The Mad Hatter's Tea Party was a personal favourite (and not just for the opportunity to sit down!) - the characters are all very well played, the right balance between scary and comfortingly familiar. Plus the look on people's faces when the scene begins again is something of a picture...worth swotting up if you want to know what's to come! The final bar is where you can revel in the success of escaping this twisting world, with a brilliant little band, bar and hot food available. There's a maze and some flamingo croquet for activities, and plenty of alcohol available. You can re-enter this area throughout its run this summer with your SUIT card, issued earlier in the evening, and worth visiting if you know someone who possess something so powerful. Why four stars? Giving in our bags as recommended rendered us purse-less, so that last area was a bit of a let down - once you exit, there's no re-entry on the day, so it was a quick nose around and then out again. Coming out at £50 a ticket, you'd also think that perhaps that the tea party drink could be on the house. Whether you go for 'eat me' or 'drink me', I recommend the Alice's Adventures Underground Experience. Just, please, don't eat the jam tarts!

We had a fantastic tour guide who brought a ton of charisma and fun to his retelling of the history and stories behind The Globe. There is also a self-guided portion of the tour, with props and set pieces from some of the more modern productions which was very fun to see. Stop in the gift shop for a few souvenirs to cap off the experience.

We came here a few days prior to get tickets for an evening show of Romeo & Juliet. There were…read moreplenty of tickets available at all price points and we opted for the standing room only to have that full experience. Upon return, there was only a short line to get in and we got there only a few minutes beforehand so did not get up front. The facility is nice and I love that the space is outdoors. Glad it wasn't raining though with our tickets although the seated areas are all covered, the stage and actors are not. With our tickets, having someone tall in front of you and having to stand the whole time is a challenge. That said, we enjoyed the unique version of Romeo and Juliet and had a great time!

Cockfosters is a hilarious, 70 minute show currently (December 2025) showing at the Southwark…read morePlayhouse. Just a minute from a bus stop, strangers James and Tori meet at Heathrow and take the Piccadilly Line across London on a journey they'll never forget. Even as an American who didn't get all the local reference I found it to be a great show, and much more affordable compared to many of the alternatives. Additionally, the venue is small enough any seat you buy will give you a good view.

I love My Fair Lady so wasn't expecting this version without songs to be as good so was pleasantly surprised. The theatre itself is amazing and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Pygmalion wouldn't have been the same in any of the newer West End theatres.

You never feel far away from the stage in the least and the acoustics are brilliant. Not a massive amount of leg room in the upstairs seating - I'm a 5'7 lady - and was a bit uncomfortable towards the end, if I were any taller I'd say book the stalls). But you feel immersed in the play in any seats. The bar is nice too though a little crowded so we went to the pub down the road before the play started. The only downside was that the same usher that had checked our tickets and pointed us to our seats then came over 15 mins later with a couple, just before the performance was due to start, and said they had the tickets for our seats. The lights went down to begin the performance and he proceeded to stand next to us with the angry couple waiting for us to find out tickets to prove we had a right to be there. Being pitch black and knowing the eyes of the audience were on us (as the performance was now being delayed due to this seating error) we were very flustered and had to empty out rucksacks and pockets. Needless to say we couldn't find them immediately and the usher gave us a v accusatory look and walked away with the couple (after a good 5 minutes of staring at us mid fluster). It transpired the guy next to us had knocked our tickets under his seat.. It was really upsetting and ruined the first 15 mins of the performance. The usher came over to us in the interval and proceeded to stand there whilst we had to find our tickets. On showing them to him he said 'oh good, I've done my job properly, I won't get told off' and then subtly blamed us for the other couple having to leave. It really cast a shadow over the evening. Please sort out your booking system - although it was v upsetting for us, the other couple were offered alternative seating in the gantry (20 mins after the play started for some bizarre reason) so just went home. As it was the last ever performance of Happy Days I suspect their night was more bleak than the play - a tall order. In summary; be warned about booking. I think us booking through TimeOut and the other couple going through the YoungVic website was the cause of the double booking. But that aside love it. 29/3/2015 - having emailed feedback to the manager of the Young Vic we were advised the usher had been spoken to and were offered a free program. A little patronising but hopefully they've amended their booking system.

Add a bottle of Veuve Cliquot and that's a perfect prelude to an evening of theater. "Nye" and Michael Sheen were wonderful. A deeply moving account of the man behind the founding of the National Health Service. At the conclusion, when they projected the improved health statistics since the inception of NHS, there were many watery eyes, including mine. "WELL DONE" cast and crew!

The events that run here are also usually pretty amazing, with Torture Garden being the reason I've been before. I came here a few years ago with a friend for a techno night. The club is an old cinema, and as…read more'concepts' go it's pretty awesome. There is a dance floor and various rooms. The layout is a little odd as they don't obviously correspond to that of a cinema. Still there is a balcony with seats, that I imagine is unchanged aspect. At the show I was at they were projecting nuclear bomb warning adverts from the sixties whilst the artist played this stormy atmospheric music. Then they showed an edited version of The Shining as another artist performed a live soundtrack. It was an incredible experience, hampered only by people trying to buy drugs from me because I was sober. If you can, try and see an audiovisual show, the venue will make it a memorable experience.

In this case, the show aged well, and the props and costumes have clearly had time and money invested as this was the best rendition of Phantom I've seen to date. There was fire, light effects, great structures and hidden trapdoors, fake balconies, even a mysterious Houdini chair (no spoilers) and the production of Phantom here is clearly worth the full house it had tonight. Standing ovation at the end and tons of fun souvenirs to takeaway memories of the show. I sat in A21, center of the front row of balcony, and the view was perfect, showing just the bottom of the stage up. If I leaned forward, I could see into the pit which the ground floor seats could not. All the music was played by the incredible orchestra in the pit, Four private boxes at the front sides were filled with two persons each, which could be a fun return trip. I hope to definitely be back for another viewing some day. Incredible!

The theatre's name changes with the gender of the reigning monarch, reverting to His Majesty's Theatre in May 2023 following the accession of King Charles III. The history of His Majesty's Theatre has a rich tale spanning over 300 years and four different buildings on the same Haymarket site in London's West End. It is one of the few theatres whose name changes with the gender of the reigning British monarch. First Theatre (1705-1789): Opened as the Queen's Theatre in April 1705 by architect and playwright John Vanbrugh during the reign of Queen Anne. Due to licensing laws, it quickly became an opera house, and George Frideric Handel premiered over 25 of his operas there. Upon the accession of George I in 1714, it was renamed the King's Theatre. This building was destroyed by a fire in 1789. Second Theatre (1791-1867): A new, larger theatre, also known as the King's Theatre, opened in 1791. It hosted London premieres of operas by Mozart and Beethoven, and in the mid-19th century became renowned for romantic ballet, with famous ballerinas performing the works of Jules Perrot. When Queen Victoria ascended the throne in 1837, it was renamed Her Majesty's Italian Opera House (later just Her Majesty's Theatre). This building also fell victim to fire in 1867. Third Theatre (1868-1896): A third structure was built within the shell of the old one in 1868. After remaining dark for several years due to a rent dispute, it was used for a period by a Christian revivalist movement before returning to theatrical use, hosting the first complete English performance of Wagner's Ring cycle and appearances by Sarah Bernhardt. It was eventually demolished in 1892 as it had become technically outmoded. Fourth (Current) Theatre (1897-present): The current French Renaissance-style building was commissioned by actor-manager Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree and opened on April 28, 1897, as Her Majesty's Theatre. Tree produced spectacular Shakespearean plays and literary adaptations and even established the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in an apartment he built for himself in the theatre's dome. The current theatre is very well organized. The audience was very respectful during the show and did not seem overly crowded. However, you should be aware the restroom facilities are very small (remember, it's an old building) so plan accordingly! We both look forward to to going back when we return to London!
