Appropriately, the woman who owns this shop is very sweet and seemed to me to have a bottomless supply of happy charm and grace. And the inside of the store is beautiful and has two levels. Candy is pretty packed in here so be careful when you turn around, especially if you have a big ol' backpack on. Ahem. I got a bag of pig-shaped candies called Fred Ferkels. I'll be darned if I know what they are but they'll be a great gift.

We walked in to this little hidden shop as the owner was making cotton candy. SOLD. How could you go wrong when it smells like delicious sugar and the air is sparkling with sugar crystals?? haha, I've got to say that heightened the experience. The owner was super sweet, you could definitely tell she loved her job. My sister and I got vanilla bean marshmallows and salted caramel. YUM. Everything is au naturel. We were really impressed with the taste and texture of the sweets, I mean that was my first time trying candy that isn't loaded with unhealthy ingredients. A+ Yum yum!

Best soft serve I have ever had!…read more We stopped at Chocolate Favoris on an evening in mid May, when our cruise ship, Norwegian Bliss, docked in Victoria for the evening. We walked into the downtown area and browsed some shops. We decided to grab a sweet treat before walking back to our ship. After walking in and out of a few other ice cream shops, we noticed Chocolate Favoris and went in to check it out. We immediately noticed that this spot was different. All four of us ordered a different soft serve dessert and we were blown away. I had chocolate with hazelnut spread and hazelnut chocolate candies in a waffle cup. Amazing! We devoured our treats on the walk back to our ship and they were, by far, the best part of our short visit to Victoria and the best soft serve any of us had ever had. Highly recommend!

We got a regular milk chocolate bar and that sucker is rich and dense. One row of chocolate squares after a meal and I'm good. The chocolate bar definitely isn't American corporate chocolate and actually tastes like chocolate as opposed to anything else. If you're like Steve and me and just want a little bit of richness and a tad of sweet then this chocolate bar is right up your alley. If you have the stamina and metabolism to eat one of these in one sitting I'd love to record the experience (just kidding, I probably wouldn't actually). Roger's Chocolates also has truffles in which in this case I actually would like to try one or two.

The Heritage Store was closed when we arrived during our BC Bites & Sights tour. Fortunately, we were able to see some of it through the window. It's an architecturally historic building & shop. It was a treat just to see the old wooden built-in shelves, leaded glass decor, and stained glass half dome entryway that appears to be a Queen Anne Revival style of Victorian architecture. I don't know, it could be a mixture of different styles. All I know is that we saw a lot of this during our tour. They saved us a rather large, and individually wrapped, vanilla cream chocolate as part of the tour. I'm not usually a fan of flavored cream chocolates. I remember getting stuck with that one piece of Russel Stover chocolate that nobody wanted. Well, this vanilla cream one was nothing like that. It's on a totally different quality level. Let's just say that we loved it so much that we placed a mail order of various flavors. My BYO 5 pack included flavors such as maraschino cherry, rum, coffee, blueberry, and dark peanut butter. I also bought a cute tin full of various types of chocolates. This assortment had a few of their signature Empress Squares as well. Everything is (or was) delicious! We're still going through the box. So far, we love all of them. The "Whale Song" by Dana Statham is a great keepsake. We saw whales when our cruise ship was entering Victoria Harbour. It's what I would have bought if the store had been open on that very late Friday evening. Heck, I probably would have bought more had it been open after 10:30pm. Maybe it's a good thing that it was closed. I saved the best for last. The prices are actually pretty decent. Get them while you're there. I can't say the same about their shipping fees to Florida (hot climate). They did arrive in great condition via FedEx. I'd order again, but it would only be once a year due to shipping costs. It's worth a visit when in Victoria.

It's a spring and summer must-stop for visitors, who come by the carload for a taste of locally-made ice cream or one of their many made-in-house candy treats. When my kids were little, we often camped at the nearby state park and rode our bikes here for some sweet goodness. Yesterday, my daughter and mom and I stopped in on a little Mother's Day trip to Blaine, and enjoyed some ice cream cones on their beautiful front porch. My daughter also bought some chocolate-covered confections to take home - and honestly, I'm regretting I didn't do the same. As far as candy and ice cream goes, their prices are definitely "tourist" level, but you do get what you pay for in terms of freshness, quality, and supporting a true Pacific Northwest family-friendly icon.
