I always buy meat here. Most of the time their prices are much lower than the supermarkets. This time I bought the bacon wrapped filets. They were great. I also bought 5lbs of ground beef for a taco party. That meat was also really good. I asked a tree questions about the various marinades they had. My questions were answered professionally and recommendations were advised. The recommendation was perfect. They also have a variety of frozen veggies and desserts. It's conveniently located right off Lake Blvd in Lexington and it's very easy to find with the use of a GPS device or Google maps. We decided to stop by this business a few weeks ago, because we was searching for some oxtails. The Ole Timely Meat Market has everything that you might be in search off, and I'm pretty sure that they'll have whatever your looking for. Stopped in here with my wife to check - lots of variety both fresh and frozen foods. We bought a couple tenderloin filets to try. They were among the best steaks we have eaten in many years! It feels great to shop local, doesn't it? Our family wanted to get together to have the family pictures done and dinner afterward. I "yelped" and found "Ole Timey Meat Market." There are several locations throughout Columbia, and we went to the one in Lexington which is the closest one to us. Hubby and I walked in, were warmly greeted, and immediately offered assistance. We told the young man that we wanted steak for the family dinner. The deal he informed us was budget-friendly: twelve (12) pieces of individual-sized ribeye steak for $83. Alright, that wasn't too difficult, was it? We grilled the ribeye with some sprinkles of the sea-salt/garlic spice blend. That was really all you need to capture the natural flavor the meat rendered. Other than the great-looking meat and poultry I saw at the counter, there were locally-grown or locally-sourced seafood, spices, vegetables, cheese, and frozen items. I've been shopping with Ole Timey since they opened. Great products and exceptional staff. However as of late parking has become an issue, but witnessed first hand today them trying to fix it by having a car towed that had parked in front of the store and the owner walk to the restaurant next door. They had to deal with the backlash from the Karen which I hate but at least I know they are putting their customers first like always. Will definitely continue shopping with them because of the quality products they carry, but now I will also make sure to spread the word about the store because of the dedication they have shown to their loyal customers. read more

Lexington has got to be the only town in the state that has 4 meat markets, and that doesn't count the meat counters at the grocery stores. I doubt there is a vegetarian in town. Every one of them sells onion sausage (as well as breakfast and italian). It's a testament to the town's Germanic settlers, I suppose. Everything is good, and I know folks who buy the rest of their groceries and then come here. During the growing season they have a vegetable stand by the front door and you pay by the honor system in a lockbox. This is in 21st century America. read more

Farm raised fish? No thank you. Preservatives to keep it's freshness? Added hormones and antibiotics? No, no and no. And so, I find myself at Ole Timey Meat Market at least once a week, where their filet steaks (sans bacon) and the salmon are ...........OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS! The $6.99 (per filet) bacon wrapped filet mignons are just out of this world. I'm talking Ruth's Chris quality. I've cooked these for many people and it's unanimous that these are gourmet restaurant quality filets. We've had the bacon wrapped sirloins as well, which are very good (but don't stack up to the filets). The seafood is all wild and fresh. I've been very pleased with the Ahi and Salmon I've purchased from Ole Timey. However, since the seafood is always fresh, it's hit or miss whether they'll have what you want. But if they don't have an item you're looking for, the owner always asks if there's a certain day that I'd like that item and he'll make sure to order it for that day! One time they didn't have fresh Ahi Tuna, so they suggested the frozen Ahi. It wasn't even in the same ball park as their fresh Ahi. We've also had ribs and shrimp there. Both were very good. But the bacon wrapped filets...$6.99 a filet, gourmet restaurant quality...it just doesn't get better than that!! read more

We rarely buy meat from the grocery store. I agree with C.P., why pay extra for the added hormones and junk? And seafood. I will NEVER buy shrimp from Publix again! Favorites (in addition to the shrimp) are the filets. Not one restaurant makes a better one! I promise! Salmon is always fresh and doesn't have that pink dye. Customer service is everything. The location on N.Lake Dr. should really consider replacing the female at the counter. We were looking for a neighborhood specialty meat/seafood shop in hopes of becoming regulars, where they know our names and faces when we walk in the door. We do not mind spending more money when we can depend on the quality and freshness. Being our first visit we really wanted to take our time and check out all that they had to offer, we were the only people in the shop. Besides being unfriendly, the counter woman treated me as if I were trying to shoplift. This is after we had already purchased 2 huge Porter House Steaks, premium Lump Crab Meat, and Pork Loin. Despite her acting like I was trying to shoplift, I still added shelf items to our meat/seafood purchase. I tried asking her questions and her replies were acerbic and her attitude was completely put out. We are a senior couple, we drove up in a nice car, we were dressed nice, we smiled and greeted the employees upon entrance and explained it was our first visit and wanted to explore. These guys never disappoint in terms of quality. Would be nice if they were more consistent with their seafood in stock (king crab legs and large shrimp) The side dishes are delicious and so are the sausages. The prices are great especially for the quality. The Filets are amazing and don't forget to also get the mushrooms to go with them! Last weekend I had to stand in line to check out for 20 min.
