I'm a large fan of the NY Butcher Shoppe's prepared meals. I subscribe to their email list which has proven helpful many times as they have a weekly meal deal for 2 or 4 people, and also run other specials during the week such as an occasional $20 meal for 4 on Mondays and an $8pp meal on Wednesdays. They also have large refrigerated and freezer cases of meals that just need to be heated. I've picked these up for new parents, sick friends, etc and they've been awesome. I've purchased meat from their counter before which was really overpriced compared to other local meat markets -- I'd skip that part of the store going forward. read more

I stumbled across this little shop while working. I wasn't sure what to expect when I entered. What I found was a fun shop that specialized in wine, certified aged angus beef, and great looking chicken and pork. They had some refrigerated cases that had cheese, salads, and other items. But, what I was looking for was lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. They had a selection of sandwiches that they offered as well as chips, pickles, etc. I had a sandwich with turkey, roast beef, ham, lettuce, tomato, salt and pepper, mayo, Dijon mustard, and provolone on whole wheat. It was fantastic. The employees were proud of their business and were very helpful. I'm definitely going back! read more

(Top Secret: I've never been to a butcher, y'all.) Came here for the first time Sunday to get Sunday night dinner steaks. I had no idea what I wanted (I love meat, but I don't *know* meat, y'know?) and was really feeling a little overwhelmed by the prospect of going in without direction (Often, I like to research places before I visit them, so shout out to y'all for making it happen). I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I don't like to be pinpointed as a newcomer. When I walked in, I was casually greeted and the display cases were all labeled. I chose what I wanted with no trouble. (And loved the NY Strip, Ribeyes and filet!) I took a look at the wine area but things weren't priced, or at least the prices weren't directly in my face, so I shied away from it. Got four really great steaks for $76. Made for a beautiful dinner and not too anxious first-time butcher experience. read more

Came in here looking for some dry aged beef. Talked to the guy on he counter and he gave me a quick run down on what they had i chose the bone in rib eyes. He asked how i was going to make them. Little small talk here and there the price was like $49 a cut or so but the cuts were thick and exactly what i was looking for. Went home and grilled them. Two employees masked and courteous as usual. One bearded employee had no mask and was getting in the faces of customers and other employees despite city ordinances. He was not performing any job function, maybe a manager? He was not doing any work but was getting into everybody's face with his gossip and politics. New York Butcher Shoppe is an excellent meat market, wine store and fabulous place for a HEAT and EAT prepared meals. There is pasta, chicken, pork, beef, meatloaf you name it. Specialty meats galore. I wandered in and left with @ entrees, Chicken Parm and Meatloaf @ bottles of wine some Pulled pork. Everything was seasoned perfectly, prices were good, cause I didn't have to get in the kitchen, chop, prep, etc. Everyone was happy with the quality and flavors. I'm going back today! read more

The staff was very friendly and apologized for the delay without us commenting on it, but it took almost 30 minutes after we ordered to get our sandwiches. There was only one couple ahead of us ordering sandwiches and there were three staff members working. They need to develop a system to make food faster. Maybe we would go back there for wine or prepared food--they seemed to have a good selection--but the sandwiches were not worth the wait to us. Bread didn't taste very fresh. Update: the Brunswick stew and baguette my husband and I had picked up for dinner were quite good, so I'm revising my rating. The sandwich/service experience keeps the two stars; take-home food gets four. Final overall rating 3 stars and would return for prepared food. read more

I went to this establishment base on the reviews. Unlike previous comments on how friendly the staff, I went into the store with my family today. There were not any customers in the store. A gentlemen and young teenager were working. We were not greeted nor were we acknowledged of being in the store. I said " something smells good to the workers" , no comment. I said " I see that your smoked wings are your special, no comment. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I said" I would like to see your wings", the gentlemen said "there they are". I do not appreciate their customer service. I understand an establishment has the right to greet and extent their degree of customer service to whom they like, just as I have the freedom to write this comment and choose not to spend my money at this establishment. My rating is zero but you must give an establishment one star to post. So, I guest this store front got a star for this review. read more

They have prime beef. Not CAB (certified angus) but prime. Expensive? Yes. But for a nice treat, it's worth it. Grilled it that night and it was perhaps the best steak I've ever cooked. Then again, prime beef is next to impossible to get outside of an active steakhouse. They could have used better butcher paper -- their paper allowed for blood to drip a little. The only down side was I also bought some blue cheese. Opened it for a salad with my steak and it was moldy. And not the good blue cheese mold. Bottom line is worth it for a special occasion or just to treat yourself. read more

First time I went I was very pleased. I got the frozen stroganoff, feed three had leftovers. So, I felt comfortable getting the same dish when I had company. There was not enough food in the container to feed my 3 guests. The dish was suppose to feed six and be my main entree. I was so embarrassed. Good thing my company was kind.
