Our friend went in for an eye exam. She doesn't speak English well and is on Medicaid-subsidized…read moreinsurance. They charged her a co-pay with her insurance company. But they refused to provide her the results of the exam without an additional $75. I spoke to them and their story made no sense whatsoever. They would immediately provide the results by email for $75 but -- due to HIPPA -- would require 3 weeks and a pile of paperwork to provide everything but the actual prescription. They called the $75 a "refraction fee" but it's actually a junk fee. It's also illegal to refuse to provide medical records under NYS 18(2). If their plan was to upsell $5-10,000 of Lazik procedures to a person whose family earns below 107% of the poverty line, it was a stupid plan and it was cruel. Don't do business with them.

This is probably my third time coming to this office and I do have to say that Dr. Lazzaro is an…read moreamazing doctor. The only downfall is his staff and the waiting period. I was there a couple days ago and I had to wait for 45 minutes to see the doctor when my appointment was at 4 o'clock and I was there 10 minutes early so in total I was there for an hour. Then, Dr Lazzaro prescribed me a eyedrop to my pharmacy and told me that it would be covered by my insurance. 30 minutes later the pharmacy calls my phone and tells me that the eyedrops that he prescribed are not covered by my insurance. I had to call back in order for him to give me the correct eyedrops that is covered by my insurance and he did have a sample of the eyedrops at his office that he could've gave me while I was there just in case. My overall experience I wish that it went a lot smoother than it did because Dr. Lazzaro is a great doctor.

During a routine eye exam with Dr. Koster, I experienced concerning unprofessional behavior. When I mentioned having vision correction surgery 14 months prior in another country and asked about my current eye health, Dr. Koster immediately became dismissive, stating "you know, I don't do post op care for other people" and ended the appointment without answering any of my questions. By his logic, if his own patients move to another country, they would never be able to seek routine eye care from a local doctor. No surgeon, including himself I'm sure, provides post-op care indefinitely, especially for patients who relocate to a different country more than a year after their procedure. When I requested my exam results at the front desk (as none of my questions were answered), Dr. Koster followed me into the hallway and publicly berated me in front of staff and other patients, repeatedly yelling "WHY DID YOU GET SURGERY IN ANOTHER COUNTRY? WHY AREN'T YOU GOING TO THEM FOR FOLLOW UP? WHY DID YOU GET SURGERY IN A COUNTRY YOU DON'T LIVE IN? YOU SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN SURGERY WHERE YOU LIVE." His aggressive behavior and elevated tone made me extremely uncomfortable, especially as I was simply seeking a routine eye exam as a new patient. The level of hostility in his response was so disproportionate that I found myself wondering if his reaction was influenced by my age, gender, or ethnicity. I attempted to address this incident by contacting the office manager, Nicole, who apologized and offered to refer me to another doctor in the practice. However, my primary concern was Dr. Koster's unprofessional conduct, for which I never received acknowledgment or apology despite my attempts to resolve the matter privately. The practice's phone lines are managed by a shared services call center, making it extremely difficult to reach them directly. I ultimately decided not to pursue the matter further, but patients should be aware that they may encounter extremely unprofessional treatment at this practice. Patients deserve respectful and professional medical care regardless of their medical history or where they previously received treatment.

They weren't. Dr.Ellant tried to sell me $3000 implant-lenses (per eye), even though I am on Medicaid. This cost would have come out of my pocket. I declined. Then came the offer of $1800 lenses (per eye). I declined. Then he suggested that any eye drops I would need could be PURCHASED at his office. I declined. Dr. Ellant is quite slick; like a shifty used-car salesman.He is abrasive and somewhat of a bully.The staff employed there (at SIGHT MD) are professional and kind (with the exception of K.H., who is clueless about what her job entails).

Urgently referred by Dr. Marcus to Dr. Ellant to this location  to treat a glaucoma case. Contacted the clinic days before my appointment to be empathetic to the Covid-19 patients' prevention rules explained in their website and to inform them of my need of remaining with my caregiver (due to a mobility disability  at all times) while in the clinic to what they admitted it was fine. Today I showed up an hour earlier to my appointment "not by choice but to the fact that my medical transportation service did not take that long to get me from home to the clinic's location". Dr. Ellant's staff from the beginning showed an attitude of discontentment and as an alternative gesture on my behalf  (although I am a disabled person) I offered them I could come back close to my appointment time, which they agreed and told me to come back 5 mins before my appointment scheduled time. Prior leaving the clinic,  I asked if there were forms for me to fill out to what they responded "only 4 pages" easily completed when I came back?????? It was not possible for me  to come back 5 minutes before my appointment and instead I came back 15 minutes prior; instead of accommodating my disability needs they decided to send me out of the clinic into the street again, arguing that they were keeping the safe distance of patients in a place that is the size of a shoe box. My caregiver in an intent to make them realize how they could have addressed my special medical needs asked ....why they did not mentioned anything about arriving 5 minutes prior to the time scheduled of the appointment when they were initially contacted days before my appointment. One of the receptionist (caucasian looking) started arguing with my caregiver, not listening to what he was saying and pretending to be the victim to this unfortunate situation rendered to me as a patient. As a second time to be condescended to what we were asked for "we stepped out into the street  to wait for our original appointment time".  The same rude woman screamed from the clinic's door entrance inviting me only (not my caregiver) to come in to supposedly evaluate me prior seeing the doctor and insisted that my caregiver should remain outside until I met with the doctor. Just to make it clear both ( me and my caregiver had proper protective gear: 3 layered mask covering with filter, gloves and eye protection) I tried to explain to her the need of my caregiver to be with me at all times and she then responded  "ARE YOU COMING IN OR NOT". Dr. Ellant please be advised that I made a huge effort based on my disability and urgent referral to meet with you and due to your inconsiderate, rude inflexible attitude of the management  staff working at your clinic  I had no choice to take care of my well being rather than keep being mistreated by asking to be submitted to suden whims of such unprofessional and selfish staff. Is unfortunate whether or not you are directly or indirectly responsible for the poor initial service new patients requiring your specialty have to walk away with. I would advise you to really take into consideration the bad experience I went through by addressing immediately the nasty attitude receptionists have at this location otherwise these type of incidents will continue to happen. I am in complete agreement that "we all have the right to remain safe by any potential exposure to the covid-19  and as patients in need to medical professionals like you.... we are doing our part; if the clinic space is too small and the management staff is not empathetic to patients' needs then consider a way of resolving all these by not booking so many patients at once for such a small clinic and changing your management staff to people with the right kind attitude to represent you.
