From our very first appointment, I felt an instant connection. Dr. Tarantino is genuinely kind, compassionate, and never makes you feel rushed. She takes a hands-on, holistic approach to care, listens carefully to every concern, and provides thoughtful, practical medical advice. For the first time, I've never felt like I had to fight to be heard, advocate for necessary testing, or push for the care I needed. Instead, I feel supported and respected every step of the way. My health has improved tremendously under Dr. Tarantino's care, and I've lost over 40 pounds. I truly credit her guidance, encouragement, and dedication to helping me achieve better health. It is likely that the spine in my neck sustained significant damage which was discovered via MRI after the insurance case was closed. The spinal injury radiates down my shoulder. The first time I experienced this was right after the car accident. Now I am absorbing the cost of medical mistakes once again. So far it has cost me $3000 in lost wages and likely $8000 in medical cost. It will likely cost me several more thousands in lost wages. A simple 3 minutes assessment and some imaging would have prevent this. I just paid off another medical error that cost me $5000, that could have been prevented by a doctor at her practice. Her response-pay payments-knowing full well that I have previously experienced additional financial loss due to medical errors. It took me 6 years to go back to the doctor after the first experience, only to experience more preventable errors from her and her office. This, after another experience event under her care in which my records are false causing more harm- emotionally, physically, and financially. Correct medical records could have help me recover emotionally, physically, and financially from previous medical errors. She said she wanted to advocate for me and help. The next breath she threw me under the bus. She was angry how I was treated by previous providers, then turns around and does the same thing, but worse. On a level from 1-10 mental anguish due to medical errors and lack of accountability from those who brush off valid concerns and cause intentional additional trauma is about 10000000/10. I am so done absorbing the cost of incompetence. I really wish we had a competent medical board in CA to take valid concerns.

Despite elevated readings and ongoing symptoms, these concerns were not appropriately addressed or investigated. She is the only doctor that lacked concern regarding my BP- which urgent referred to her from my BP At the time, I had already experienced significant medical and financial harm related to prior medical errors involving John Muir Health. She initially appeared deeply concerned about what I had gone through and expressed frustration regarding the treatment and medical errors I had experienced, which led me to trust her and believe she would advocate for accurate documentation and appropriate care. I also later experienced an additional approximately $5,000 financial burden related to another issue involving John Muir Health. After already suffering substantial financial losses connected to prior medical errors, I expressed concern about the impact this would have on me. Her response was simply to "make payments," which felt dismissive of the cumulative financial and emotional strain I was already experiencing. However, after gaining my trust, records were later sent to the Department of Rehabilitation that omitted the significant medical errors, complications, and harm I had experienced. This was especially concerning because she later stated in writing, "I will not document wrong doings." That statement directly relates to the records submitted to the Department of Rehabilitation, as important information regarding prior medical errors, complications, and their impact on my health and functioning was omitted from the documentation. Instead of helping clarify the extent of the harm I had experienced, the records minimized or excluded critical context that affected my care, credibility, and ability to receive appropriate support. Later, after a car accident, I repeatedly reported shoulder and neck pain radiating down my arm. Despite multiple complaints, no meaningful assessment or imaging was completed at the time. Significant cervical spine damage was later identified through MRI after my insurance case had already closed. I also felt that personal judgments and misperceptions negatively impacted both my care and the accuracy of my medical documentation. When providers form conclusions without fully listening to or objectively evaluating a patient's concerns, it can affect medical decision-making, documentation quality, continuity of care, and ultimately patient safety. As a result of these failures in assessment, follow-up, documentation, and care coordination, I have experienced ongoing physical, emotional, and financial consequences, including substantial medical expenses, lost wages, and prolonged stress related to trying to correct inaccurate or incomplete medical documentation. Patients should not have to absorb the long-term consequences of preventable oversights, inaccurate documentation, omitted information, bias, or failures to appropriately respond to legitimate medical concerns.

In that 60 minutes, we went over every single thing I wanted to talk about and more. I have never felt so heard and seen by a physician. Not only were all of my questions answered she educated and informed me. Additionally, her office is incredibly nice and welcoming. She has a special scale that weighs fat and muscle, that is included as part of your physical and I have been wanting to try this for so long, so that was an added bonus. It has always been something I wanted to do and something I was interested in but never found the time or courage to follow through with. Growing up, therapy wasn't always something that was positively stigmatized, so it was easy to find excuses to not go. There were things I needed help working through, however, and I knew I wouldn't be able to continue to take it on myself. I found me asking myself the same questions in different ways and always coming to the same conclusions. I'm not saying that I was tormented by these questions/answers but I knew that I needed a fresh, new and professional angle. I wasn't going to be able to dig as deep without having the proper tools to dig. Leslie came in as a kind and understanding voice--asking me questions I have never been asked and exploring my feelings in a way I've never thought to explore them. I'm an introspective person by nature but I would never stop to think of how certain situations made me feel and how it looked to explore those feelings. Each session was quite an interesting and eye-opening exercise. Leslie was always respectful enough to give me time to think about my responses and never seemed to pry or dig too deeply if I wasn't comfortable but she masterfully worded questions in a way that disarmed me and allowed me to share openly and freely. She created a very comfortable environment for being open. I knew that therapy was working for me when I started to openly share my feelings in normal conversation with friends and family. I found myself thinking more deeply about how I was affected by something or taking a particular situation and viewing all of the angles and how I felt about potential outcomes. When speaking with friends, I found myself being more understanding and sensitive--asking them questions about how they felt. It was all kind of "weird" but I knew it was very helpful. Unfortunately, I do not see Leslie anymore but ever since our final session, I feel mentally reborn. The lens I now look through my own feelings with is less judgmental and more understanding. It's okay to feel. It's ok to emote. The mental clarity I have now is far better than it was before she and I sat down for the first time. I am grateful for her service and would highly recommend Leslie to anyone seeking understanding, mental health and a kind ear.
