The restaurant was clean and service was great. Pizza was great and the pasta even better.

What a treat I gave to myself in that restaurant. Only 18 seats and all worthed to wait for. I started with the trio bruschetta, tonno tartar then Mora al Mare. My server Carlos was very professional and plesant, Pedro the chef was impressive to watch cooking, dressing and supervising the place, if he is the owner you are the best if not your boss got a pearl in his kitchen. I will be back and talk about you to anyone going to Merida.

I had the rosmarina, it was ok, my wife ordered the lasagna, it was really less than mediocre, soggy, cold and the taste was like canned ravioli. Service was ok, it is set up like a food court at a mall . The plaza itself is awesome but there are much better food choices. I will say the tiramisu was good. Overall the worst dining experience we had in Merida

AMAZING RESTURANT! BEST FOOD WE HAD IN MERIDA! BEST ITALIAN FOOD I'VE EVER HAD SINCE I CAN REMEMBER AND I'M ITALIAN AND BEEN TO ITALY! INEXPENSIVE. We had two main courses and a bottle of wine and it was like 30-35 bucks. Had the pasta with short rib meat and the carbonarra and a bottle of Spanish wine. If I knew how good this place was I would of ate here every day. It's a small place - (I think there is a 2nd restaurant by the same owner one in town not sure) so pick a pre or post prime time else you may have to wait a while. Not to be missed if you are staying in Merida!!

So far the best meals we have had in Mérida. It has been a pathetic trip regarding food for us here. The local food is all meat, mostly turkey. At first you get excited with different kinds of tacos but after a few days we were screaming for the greens. We are now really glad to have tried Oliva and wished we had found it earlier. It's a very very small restaurant. No more than 6 tables I think and it a pretty cramped. The food is not too expensive, same as most places serving this kind of food. We went two nights in a row and both nights we had nothing to complain (maybe my husband could complain that the food could've been better with cheese which I am not so fond of and had to ask them not to put in my dishes). First night we had a mozzarella dish, Santorini salad and a fettuccine with shrimps and asparagus. All were pretty good. I am normally not a salad eater but the salads were so good that I couldn't stop! The fettuccine was handmade and the taste was perfect. It's the first place where we actually enjoyed the seafood here. It's a sad thing that Mérida is so close to the ocean and there is no decent seafood practically! Anyway this place made the shrimps perfect. Tonight we went back again and had a Caprese salad, sautéed spinach, meatballs and a snapper ravioli. All were excellent except for the meatballs. The meatballs were good too but not a mind blower. The fact that the food is consistently good really makes us happy. It means we can plan to go back and try other things without getting disappointed. Definitely recommended!

The wonderful smells of good Italian food got us...we're hooked. Enjoyed the spinach salad especially and the pasta dishes...

Our favorite restaurant during our stay in Merida. A must for any visitor. Make a reservation as it opens later and fills up fast.

Amazing Italian food for a very reasonable price. It is very small and tables do not turn over fast so get there right when it opens!

From Chicago, first time at Oliva today. Here are my thoughts:…read more -We had a bigger party of 8 people and made reservations ahead of time. They gave us a perfect private room! -We ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer, and it was excellent! The tomatoes were really, really good. -I got the cacio y pepe for my entree and it was easily the best I've ever had outside of Italy : ) Very tender pasta, in a peppery white sauce. -I tried the ravioli and it was delicious, nice spices and sauce. -Service was excellent! This place is on the fancier side. We got in with shorts, but more formal waiters, etc. -If I could only go back to one restaurant in Merida, this would be it. Highly recommended!

GREAT PLACE, RESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED - We've been here three times, twice inside and once outside…read more Inside it is very nice, attentive staff, and charming. Outside it was still pleasant but you sit on plastic chairs and most the diners outside, like us, waited about 30 minutes at our tables until our order was taken. Definitely the walk ons who eat outside seem to have less attention granted to them, but to sit inside you need a reservation when it is busy, so reservations are recommended. All that said once we placed our order the food was promptly served on all occassions. It was always rich and delicious, with all ingredients tasting super fresh. The flavors were bold but not overpowering, and the portion sizes were modest but fair. The prices were a bit high relative to other places you could find around here but generally speaking you pay for quality at this place. It's an excellent option for some homemade pasta and fantastic salads, but that also makes it super popular, so just be patient as you may need to wait at times. Still the wait is worth it, give it a chance you won't be disappointed. Happy eating! -John Seeto

Ordered a mango and strawberry daiquiri and they were not blended. Rim was something strange. Not salt, sugar nor tajin. Service was very slow. Chaya crepes were soggy, drowned in sauce to the point where it nauseated me. God help anyone who comes here looking for a fulfilling meal. Included gratuity into the check, but told me I didn't have to pay it if I didn't receive good service. What a weird spot to be put in!?

There's a great variety of drinks--nice traditional mezcalitas, chaya cocktails (with xtabentun), clericot, beer, wine, you name it. The last year or so they've had, in my opinion, a very fine singer/guitarist; she's there, I believe, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and maybe Saturdays. Music starts at 8:30 (it used to start at 8:00, and I wish it still did or at 7:30) -- no cover. (That's not to say that on the other nights you won't hear good music; over the years there have been many fine trova singers.) All in the atrium of an historic building: in our opinion, a special if not unique place in Merida.
