An absolutely terrible experience from start to finish. The only single thing that was good the entire night was the first drink I ordered, the "Espíritu Playero." After that, everything went downhill. The food was a disappointment. The Bruschetta ai Funghi looked completely different from the menu photo--tasted okay, but it was incredibly dry. The gnocchi bolognese was just mediocre, definitely not worth the price. To make matters worse, the staff completely ignored my table after dropping off the food. I had zero follow-up, yet I clearly saw every other table around me receiving maximum attention. The service here is extremely selective and unprofessional. The drink situation was even worse. I ordered a Spanish white wine that was awful, so I asked to switch it for a sweet cocktail, the "Atardecer en Progreso." It was a disaster: it was bright green (even though mango/passion fruit is supposed to be yellow), and the bottom of the drink was incredibly bitter and undrinkable. When I pointed this out, the waitress just dismissed it, saying "that's how it is." To top it all off, they still charged me for the wrong drink they messed up. WARNING TO EXPATS AND TOURISTS: They use abusive and dishonest billing practices. My actual bill was $933 MXN (around $53.30 USD), but they ran my card for $61.82 USD without my consent, forcing a terrible exchange rate to pocket an extra $9. I went back to complain, and I was met by a clueless "supposed manager" because an actual, professional manager was nowhere to be found. Terrible customer service. TIP: If you are a foreigner, ALWAYS demand to pay in PESOS (local currency) on the card machine. Never let them select USD, or you will get ripped off. Avoid this place at all costs! read more

This restaurant in Mérida Yucatan, Mexico was amazing overall highly recommend. We were limited on time and we explained to the waiter out time limit and he acted very promptly to make sure we were still able to enjoy our experience but get us out in time so we can return our car rental on time. The waiter was very prompt in bringing out the items in the order we wanted them salad first, pasta/pizza, then dessert. All the food brought out was so fresh and all cooked on the spot you can definitely tell. The pizza crust was very crispy and you can tell it was just wood fired right then and there I still had some of those wood fired elements on my hand when done eating my pizza slice! Yum! Also the ambiance is very cute cozy and also a cute romantic date spot as well. Music was playing settled in the background. On our last night in Merida my daughter said she wanted something other than Mexican, so we came for Italian. I had pizza with prosciutto and mushrooms and she had the gnocchi. I preer a crispy crust, but while thin the bottom crust was soft. I had one beer, and I forget what she had to drink. This place is super popular so it is always bumping. The service is quite attentive but truth be told we found both the pasta and calzone we ordered to be not really well seasoned and texturally not what we had hoped for. The decor is also kind of going for that Italian street vibe but we went one night in summer and it just is too hot for that to feel Italian. Also not their fault Merida has a ton of mosquitos, and any outdoor eatery will have this, but it just kind of ruins the vibe. Also super packed all the time, for me its not worth the hype. I was on a business trip in Merida and stopped by to enjoy some food. This is on Paseo Montejo and I'm normally weary of food on the main tourist street. Regardless, I read reviews and decided to pop in. I visited in September, out of season and there was a lot of seating, I returned first week of October and it was packed. The waitress recommended lasagna and prosciutto pizza. The lasagna was flavorful. I like the pizza but there was a good amount of arugula in it, to me it was more than necessary. I was pleasantly surprised at the food though and as always, I think the service at most restaurants in Merida is top notch. read more

Probably the worst restaurant meal I've ever had in my 60+ years on the planet. There wasn't anything in either of our dishes that did not come out of a box, a jar, or a bag. The lasagna was barely edible, consisted of 90% mozzarella cheese. There was absolutely no alcohol in either of our cocktails. The servers spent most of their time standing around, chatting with each other. And because this was New Year's Eve, the prices were tripled. It was also one of the most expensive restaurant meals I've ever had in my life. Do you not eat here. Do not believe any of the other reviews. Our second night in Merida we were so excited to try Trattoria LA Pasta. The joy did not last long. We were met on the street by several male staff members encouraging us to dine at Trattoria. We were walked into the restaurant and seated at a table for four. The attendant pointed to a QR code for the menu. The upload speed was weak and after numerous tries on three different iPhone and Android We requested a "paper menu" (Patrons seated in close proximity were using paper menus). The gentleman, whom we requested the menu, rolled his eyes and appeared quite disgruntled. We waited and as the feeling of "you're not welcome here" settled over our party of four" (including two pre-teens) we considered our options and decided to go somewhere else for dinner. As we were leaving the posturing young males at the street began to pressure us into staying. A member of our party (older male) described what had just happened and explained the service was "terrible". One of the three/four males at the street entrance began saying "bye bye" "bye bye" and mocking us. Another male chimed in as well. It was intentionally humiliating to continue to call out "bye bye" as we walked along the street. Our children were uneasy by the males behavior and we assured them we will be fine in another restaurant. Which was true. We ended the night with a wonderful dining experience just down the street. Loved all the dishes here! We had 4 different pasta and all were cooked well but my favorite was LINGUINE GAMBERETTI E LIMONE. It has spice and citrus with shrimp and just yummie!! Came here during Christmas Eve as it was one of the few places that didn't have reservation. Despite it being extremely packed for the holiday, the service was good and the food was amazing. Did not get to take pictures as how fast we devoured the food!!!! Really recommend this place if you're visiting Merida. There is inside and outside sitting, during the night the weather is lovely and the outside seating is really enjoyable. There was also a guy playing music really close by on the streets that made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. The pizzas are the size of a large plate, just enough to share with two but also have one for yourself depending how hungry one is! read more

What a great find! We saw a card in our AirBNB and walked by here several times, wandering along Paseo Montejo. Because of COVID-19, we only eat outside, and they offered a good number of physically distant outdoor tables. The outdoor space is roped off, and we were greeted at the opening by someone we found out later was the owner. Temperatures were checked, and we were given hand sanitizer. Menus are on QR code links and were easy to access. We started with a glass of Tempranillo (70 pesos) and a Margarita on the rocks (90 pesos). The Tempranillo was excellent and a good pour. The Margarita was a good size and very fruity. Our server brought us some Bread with Fresh Tomato Sauce for dipping while we looked over the menu. The sauce was delicious and had a little bite to it. I'm a pizza junky and wanted to check out the pizza in Merida. I ordered the Pizza Diavola (175 pesos). My husband tried the Maradona (190 pesos), a Fried Pizza. My Pizza Diviola had a nice coating of Marinara Sauce, plenty of Mozzarella Cheese, and a good portion of a Spicy Salami. The crust was thin, crisp, and nicely blistered around the edges. Perfectly done. The Maradona was not like a Panzarotti we've had in the U.S. but more like a Calzone. It was huge, fried nice and crisp, and filled with Mozzarella Cheese, Ricotta, and Italian Sausage. It came with a side of Marinara and fresh Tomato and Basil on the side. Again, very well done. We rarely have dessert with dinner, but the Coconut Creme Brulee (75.00 pesos) sounded too good to pass up. The serving was a good size, very browned with Shredded Coconut on top, the plate was decorated with a light Fruit Sauce and some Strawberries. Delicious with a nice hard crack to the sugar crust. We really enjoyed ourselves and will be back to try some fresh pasta when we return to Merida. Had dinner on their outdoor patio on a beautiful Merida night. We had 7:30 reservations and our table was ready. They bring you sauce and bread while you wait. We started the meal with a caprese salad and a bottle of Chianti. The salad was really good with fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, and basil with a balsamic finishing oil. I ordered fettuccine with the amatriciana sauce, and my wife got the seafood pasta. Both dishes were good. We finished by sharing some tiramisu for desert. First impressions were horrible here, as they are over staffed, yet cannot perform any type of service. Multiple staff being lazy and watching cartoons and chatting with each other rather than serving. Our meals were brought out before the appetizer and we had a hard time getting their attention for anything at all. What really made me mad was that a girl who was not our waiter (he disappeared) came by to take my card payment for the meal and asked if we "had good service" to which I replied NO, and asked to see the card machine to add/not add a tip. She didn't want to give it to me at first and wanted to type it in herself which I did not let her do. I have 10%, but they deserved NOTHING. Adding a large tip percent for yourselves when you did absolutely nothing is just bullshit. It's taking advantage of patrons who you think are too stupid to notice and that's really offensive. The pomadoro was very good, pasta over cooked. The restaurant was great for a casual place but my waiter was terrible. Over all the food we had was average and limp. We ordered a ceaser salad and it came with the up sell chicken we never ordered. When the bill came the salad was on our bill, after we told the waiter the issue. The number of times our waiter checked in on us was zero. Drink order then food order. That's it. Never were our glasses filled or were we asked how our meal was, not once. I hate giving a bad review but but the service was atrocious. The kitchen could use a little straighten out and the front end needs to be scraped, reset. Start over and this place could rock. We also got the Nutella and coconut tiramisu and the mango panna cotta. The service was great and so was the atmosphere. The restaurant is on a Main Street that has a lot of places along the way. Had dinner yesterday in the outdoor seating. Alessandro greeted us and was VERY friendly. We felt underdressed until we saw some of the other people and quickly felt comfortable. It was my last day in Merida, and this was a last stop before headed to the airport. We came here for coffee and light food. I ordered a cappuccino, which was delicious and strong. I ended up ordering two, which left me energetic for my trip. We ordered two salads (see pictures), and chatted a bit before the time came to head out. It was a good conversation, and the environment was relaxing. The place was decorated nicely. The staff was warm and welcoming, they were attentive and professional. I wouldn't say it's worth a stop if you're from a place that already has great Italian, but I needed some pasta after all the tacos and panuchos, so this definitely hit the spot for me :) It's a little unclear if all of their pasta dishes are fresh made pasta in house. Bruschetta ai Funghi 4.5/5 - definitely must get! Yes they use truffle oil, and it makes it smell so great. Flavors on point. Best mushroom toast I've had that utilizes such basic button/cremini mushrooms. Shrimp & mushroom fettucine 4/5 - added a lot of chili flakes which brought up the flavor. Overall pretty good. Prosciutto pizza 2/5 - dough made well, but this just didn't pull together very well. All the ingredients were left cold (tomato, cheese) rather than any roasting or melting. Unimpressed. After walk up and down Paseo Montejo this evening, we decided to stop by Trattoria La Pasta for a little Italian meal. We ordered the salmon carpaccio and the white sauce pizza with peck and mascarpone. The salmon has an tangy base of lime, olive oil, and pink peppercorn under a fluff of arugula. So delicate and refreshing as a starter. The pizza bread was nice and chewy, the sauce provided a creamy base, and the toppings of mascarpone and speck did not fight each other. They also gave us toasted focaccia with a tomato meat based sauce that was so savory and fresh tasting. I filled myself up eating just that! When we arrived the only menu they had was internet based and only worked with their special app which we could not get to function on either of our phones. It obviously worked for some people. When we could not download the app there was no other alternative menu available and no help from the staff. We ended up leaving and eating elsewhere. It was Mexican Independence Day and our usual favorite pizza delivery options were closed. Seeing Trattoria La Pasta was delivering via Uber Eats we decided to give one of their pizzas a try. We've had mixed luck with pizza in Merida so didn't expect too much . It's located on the street, so that's fun. Overall, a very decent experience. I'm a little surprised by the rave reviews on the food. I had the vegetarian lasagna, and while there was nothing wrong with it, it was about what I expected, which is to say "meh." One very, very positive thing is that the veggies were "al dente." That was great. Also, for native English speakers, it's a bit painful to listen to US rock songs sung by someone whose English is minimal.
