This Olive Garden is a disappointment to society. It was my first time having Olive Garden. I invited the boys over for a gorilla tag night and we wanted Olive Garden. My expectations were extreme and up to the moon and back. When my man brought it back into the basement from our to-go order, I opened my cheesy ravioli to reveal a unwanted mess of brown Marina sauce spread over four non cheesy raviolis. One of my guys ordered the Mac n cheese and fries. The Mac n cheese was medium warm and tasted "scrumptious in his tumptious". The fries for all my fellas were saturated with unwanted moisture and some were unexpectedly crunchy and brown. The breadsticks were extremely salty but otherwise good. Obviously no Marina sauce to have with them. The pizza was exceptional with a rubbery burnt bubble on the bottom. Anyways, 2 stars for ok breadsticks and good service. I ordered a buy one get one dinner from Olive Garden online early in the day for a 4 pm pickup. I pulled up and my order was ready right away. The chicken parmesan was hot and cheese ravioli cold and ready for refrigeration for the next days dinner. Both were very good. I chose the salad side and pasta e fagoli soup. Bread sticks too. Good experience with a party of 9 for lunch. Our server was really friendly and split the check 5 ways without issue. Soups were nice and hot, salads kept flowing and the pastas were cooked al dente. Customer service is key to the success of any business. This being said, I learned today that my family was going to the Olive Garden in Bourbonnais to celebrate my nephews 21st birthday. Since I live out of state and could not join my family today, I called the Olive Garden to purchase a cocktail for my nephew. When I initially called, employee Emma answered the phone. I explained to her what I wanted and she said, "no problem, I will put you on hold and pass the call to take outs... they will assist you with your order and payment". I waited on hold for about 10 minutes. When no one returned, I hung up and called back. Eventually I spoke with manager Niko. Niko said that they could not take my order, as it would be a company liability. What??? I was so confused... a liability for what I asked Niko and he could not answer me. He repeated, it is a liability. I expressed to Niko that I was not satisfied with his vague answer and clearly not pleased with the service... after all, not only was I trying to purchase a cocktail for my nephews birthday celebration, to be consumed in the restaurant, not a take out! But 5 members of my family were all at the restaurant, eating dinner; thus paying customers. Since I was so perplexed with Niko's lack of "liability explanation" and not wanting to take my phone order, I called another local Olive Garden, and asked them for the same request; just to see if this was the protocol of all Olive Gardens. The manager at another Olive Garden said that they cannot take credit cards over the phone, which I found to be very odd, since I ALWAYS give my credit card information over the phone when purchasing food, or other items. In any event, this Olive Garden was so kind, she apologized for the inconvenience and said that if I tell her where my family member was sitting, that she would bring them a cocktail "compliments of Olive Garden". Wow... how nice was that! Now that is what customer service should be! Unfortunately my family was not eating at this Olive Garden, and for that I am very sad... that I was not able to let my nephew know that his Auntie was thinking about him on his special day. In conclusion, prior to leaving this review, I called my family and asked if Niko, or any Olive Garden staff / management apologized for the inconvenience and the answer was no. Which I was told was not uncommon for this location, as the service in Bourbonnais lacks good customer service as opposed to other locations. Additionally, in a time where we have all experienced a tremendous amount of difficulty with the lockdowns... you would think that the staff at the Bourbonnais Olive Garden would be more humbled and appreciative that customers are venturing out and spending their hard earned money at their establishment, but this is clearly not the case at this Olive Garden, and to that point, I say, shame on you. A suggestion for Niko would be a crash course in stellar customer service skills, or perhaps a retraining. read more

I love my Olive Garden. My family and I frequent the one by where we live. We were meeting some family a couple hours away and decided to meet here. I think the food is fairly consistent across locations. The food was good. Our service was OK. It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't horrible. And to be honest, I don't want to base my entire review on one waiter. Who knows how the others are. But, as we were sitting, there was another guy preparing the table next to us for another larger party - and he sneezed on his hands TWICE, right into his hands, and then continued to handle the silverware/napkins etc, as he setup the table. How disgusting...?!?! How does he NOT KNOW that's not ok? Common sense would tell one in the food service industry that that's not acceptable. I flagged down the Manager of the store and let her know what had happened and who it was so that she could have a talk with him. She was nice about it. But I lost my appetite after seeing that. Have come here many times throughout the years and have never had a bad meal even if sometimes that food may be just a touch too oily - but that's really a minor gripe overall. Had dinner tonight with my wife and mother-in-law in a booth just before the kitchen. The server was a young blonde girl that had a charming personality, stopped to check on us regularly and got everything perfect. As my wife is also a server, she knows a good one and she was very impressed. The manager, a physically fit Black man who is present every time I eat at this location always checks on every table and is probably overdue for a promotion. Ok first off, it's an Olive Garden. I think the only reason this particular Olive Garden is getting any sort of buzz right now is because Bourbonnais has been without restaurants that the rest of the United States has had for a decade. Now that they're catching up with the times, the good people of Kankakee/Bourbonnais now have some selection (which they've been waiting ever so patiently for I might add.) Which is why it's so disappointing that they have some work to do. I had already heard heading in that they had some issues with service. Honestly, I don't really blame brand new restaurants for less than stellar service on popular nights. The mixture of a new staff and the influx of excited patrons can be a bit overwhelming to handle, even for a well-oiled machine like Olive Garden. What baffles me, however, is why after many months of service you wouldn't eventually get it together. While I didn't have an overall terrible experience with the service, it could certainly use some help. Our server was generally friendly, but the majority of the staff I came in contact with seemed to have this general attitude of "I'm not so much concerned that you're here right now." The food was fine and, after a while, our server was pretty good about refilling both drinks and soup bowls. If I could give a 2.5 star rating, I would. I decided to round down simply due to the fact that this area doesn't get many nice things. They wait patiently for good shopping, restaurants and nightlife, and when something pleasant actually shows up, it hurts twice as worse when it turns out to be disappointing. read more

I took my mom here for her birthday. Since this is her FAVORITE Italian restaurant (it IS Kankakee), I happily obliged. This is about the second or third time I've been here, and it WAS on a Thursday after the lunch-hour rush (I'm guessing). After waiting for a little longer than expected, our waitress showed up. Her name was Kim. Other than the initial wait, Kim is AWESOME! We ordered a few dishes off of the $12.95 3-course Italian dealy menu, which were pretty fantastic. They had a great flavor, the temperature was nice, the bread and soup hot and delicious, and the desert was good. On a hilarious side note: a manager came and asked how everything was...while we were praying over the food. "Oh, I'm so sorry." I finished praying and told her "no worries. It's all good," while an older couple made a comment about the wait staffs at restaurants always asking how the food was...while you're shoving your face. I love old people...they're both wise and hilarious. Anyways, The Moms enjoyed herself, and I liked everything as well. I think La Valetta is the best Italian restaurant in the area, and neither compare to Isabella Café in downtown Tinley Park, but I enjoyed myself. Well done, Olive Garden...well done. read more

Not sure as to why the massive hatred exists for this location, which is why it's taken me awhile to write a review. I wanted to keep eating there to understand if I was just getting lucky each time I went or if I was just delusional. This is one of the spots that my mom and I come to for lunch. We love the unlimited soup and salad and it's absolutely worth the $6.95. I wish my mom and I got along well enough to come here on a weekly basis, but currently our relationship is on a once a month basis. My favorite soup is the Zuppe Toscano. I love the spicy sausage as well as the potatoes. And don't forget the breadsticks -- their deliciousness goes without saying! For the soup & salad deal alone I would give 5 stars. Sometimes servers can give you attitude or neglect you once they realize that you won't be stocking up on the booze and appetizers, but we've never had an issue. It's also a nice thing to mention that my adult sister has a disability and the waitresses always talk to her and ask her about what she likes. They even listen to her when she tells them about her boyfriend and her Special Olympics swimming. I go a lot of places with my sister and have experienced a lot of prejudice, so it's nice to go somewhere where I know we will be welcomed with open arms. I went about two weeks ago for an actual meal, after some tragic stuff happened in my family. I needed something to cheer me up and I thought that carbs might be just the thing. I guess I understand the "a-ok" factor after eating the pasta. I ordered the 3-course deal for $12.99. I got the soup -- of course -- with Parmesan-Potato Crusted Chicken with linguine. It was just simply..alright. The waitress tempted me by saying it was her absolute favorite thing on the menu, but I didn't share the same sentiment. The dessert that you get is also unimpressive as the desserts they give you are only large enough for a child. Come on now -- the dessert is my favorite part, but what can you really expect from a $12.99 meal. I'm the kinda person that really tries to support local restaurants as much as possible and stray from the chains, but I can't lie and say I'm not a sucker for their soup and salad. Olive Garden has been trying to find its home again in the large chain restaurant competition. But I'm starting to believe in them and their changes. Arrived on a Saturday for a late lunch and was seated right away. Had a new waitress named Brittany who was fantastic. Didn't miss a beat. Not a single thing was wrong with out food. The taste, temperature, and the presentation. What shocked me were the breadsticks. I don't know if they changed the recipe or are just adding more garlic sauce on top but they are amazing now! The only thing I'm not a fan of but won't mark them down for because it seems like the wave of the future are those tablets at the table. We were pitched on the pricing for the games on there. That's so odd. First if I wanted to be unsocial and play a game at dinner with family I would whip out my phone and pay money for a game I get to keep forever. Not pay to play on a nasty tablet that God knows how many peoples nasty dirty fingers have been on. Plus it takes up room on the table. The only good thing about those tablets is the payment system. We had three separate checks and could easily swipe our card for each bill and add tip there and leave. The upside to the tablets are you can view the menu whenever. Easy payment so you're not waiting around for the waitress to bring the check and then bring back change or your card. But waitresses beware these tablets will take away your job and make you a basic food runner. But for the meantime I really like the tablet for the main fact that once you pay and it asks for the tip it shows up at 20% right away and you can adjust higher or lower. I hate hearing stories about waitress's who get stiffed or a bad tip. Hopefully this will help people realize 20% is the new minimum. Not average. I forget our server's name but she provided phenomenal service. Coming by with our food and drinks pretty quickly...and checking on us at times when we could actually render a verdict (unlike most others who come by specifically when we are stuffing our faces and are unable to say much). Her recommendations on the soups and entrees were pretty dead on, as well. I recommend the Zuppa Toscano soup first only to be seconded by the Gnocci soup. Their breadsticks are not as good as Friday's or some other local ones I've had but still pretty good. Their lobster cantaloni is meh but definitely amazing flavors locked in their blandly named "shrimp penne"......the added garlic pieces and breadcrumbs definitely escalate the dish to more non-chain-like food reputation. If you prefer smaller dessert portions, ask for their Dolcinis but I recommend the chocolate mousse cake....pretty delish! All in all a pretty good experience and I would definitely go again to this location's Olive Garden. read more

11/4/17 We have been there before, this time for a place not being full of patrons it was pretty slow on the service side. We only had 3 at our table and 1 didn't eat. The typical of the ground pepper or Parmesan cheese added to salad or entree's wasn't offered. I think that regardless of the situation the service and meals should be the same, every time someone comes in. I thought well perhaps they no longer offer the additional Parmesan or pepper; but nope they do because all 3 tables around us got it. I figured it was because we really didn't order that much but it was still a 50.00 trip. Was the server having a bad day? I don't know.
