James was my girlfriend's server and I. It started off strong with service wise. We were taken our order and asked if we wanted an appetizer. I asked for the bottomless dipping sauce for breadsticks, I was told "oh I completely forgot" with the breadsticks ever being brought to the table. I ordered the baked ziti and my girlfriend ordered ravioli. The breadsticks, sauce, soup, salad, and main entrees came out at the exact same time. I said yes in reply to being asked for cheese on my soup. My foot was stepped on and his shoe remained there until he was done shredding cheese over my gnocchi. He brought our food out and got half way to us and said "is this too early?" And then said "I can take it back". Me and my girlfriend would have liked if our food wasn't being put under a heat lamp back in the kitchen, the food was blamed on "the kitchens just early tonight since we have so little orders". Upon paying for my food I had a decent conversation with him, I paid and tipped what I thought was appropriate for the service. He then walked to the kiosk and sighed out loud. Then came up to us and asked "did this work okay?" As he very clearly saw the transaction. He then turned to my girlfriend and said "good job" after she said she didn't need her box anymore for her food. The mix with the condescending attitude and horrible food service and all the small strange things with no apology including the shoe and comment really made my girlfriend and I very upset. We both love Olive Garden and had an amazing time at this location last time, but if we ever come again we will be asking for different service. Typical Olive Garden, walk in get greeted with a smile and seated quickly (for a Tuesday evening). Drink order taken and delivered quickly and food order taken. Needless to say we were starving after riding in 90 degree heat and humid like the devil opened the gates of hell to let hell air out a bit. Our server David was very friendly and charming. I went to Olive Garden specifically for the soup and was very disappointed. The chicken and gnocchi soup had no gnocchi whatsoever, which makes it misleading to even call it chicken and gnocchi. Since the soup, salad, and breadsticks were my main meal, the experience was mediocre at best. This was not an isolated issue, both bowls I had during dinner and the to-go bowl were all completely missing gnocchi. Based on this experience, I would not recommend. read more

I rented a new place within walking distance since my wife was on business away out of the country. I decided to walk down and get dinner at first. They were very nice sent me in a booth. Had four waiting people walk past me a half a dozen times never asked me if I wanted something to drink. Seven minutes went by. I got up said something to the hostess about it and she said sorry about that and move and walked away.. I don't know why this happened but I do know it was embarrassing to me. Our visit started out fine... service by Lyle was good. He was very attentive. The manager also helped make my mother's meal correctly as she has dietary issues. The worst was the very dirty bathrooms! paper towels all over the floor and then none in the holders. I had to bring it to staff attention as it was not serviced the whole time we were there. My husband also said the men's bathroom was disgusting. Little cleanliness details can really impact a business. Please do better! read more

Five minutes of waiter trying to master our names...I didn't come here to make friends, but to E.A.T. Another fifteen to get a soda and an iced tea (after asking for unsweetened tea). No straws. Ten more minutes for waters. Found my own straws. Mom's lasagna off lunch menu was warmish and tasty. My Fetuccini Alfredo with Broccoli was cold and tasteless. I thought I was ordering that off the lunch menu, but naturally, I found out later I was subject to dinner pricing for mine -- with no warning. Waiter N@#$ was nowhere to be found for the rest of the meal besides asking unintelligible questions as he hustled past to attend to others in our section. Stoped by once last year, and the wait staff was so attentive that we made a special trip from Illinois to make a second experience. The food here is always good. And some times it's great! Especially if you have an item that's new to the menu. Also can't go wrong with the price. read more

Stopped at Olive Garden with 3 buddies and we all got the unlimited soup salad and breadsticks. The food was good but the reason this is 5 stars is because of our server. His name is Jake and he is absolutely the best server I have ever had. I can't imagine how hard it is to deal with 4 unlimited orders but he did it so flawlessly and was super polite. The food was very good. My issue was the long wait for a table. As I was waiting I could actually see 5 empty booths and an empty table that we were finally seated at after a 20 minute wait. If the issue was servers, one of the four at the front desk could have helped or maybe one of the four at the to go counter. Customer service was not doing well. read more

Wow actually quite impressed with this location. The service here was spot on. Our server was super nice and genuine and showed real class throughout the night. Our breadsticks were all soft and fresh and covered well in garlic butter. Our entrees came out super fast as well. We tried the new promotional Taste of Italy dishes. I generally avoid chains, but on a Friday evening in Dubuque many restaurants do not offer either takeout or delivery because of staff shortages. The Olive Garden is like a machine! We ordered online, went to the restaurant a few minutes early, responded to the text that we had arrived and which spot we were parked in, and maybe two minutes later a smiling server arrived with our order! The food was great and we probably had enough for at least two meals each. I love the breadsticks and the lasagna and the "chocolate lasagna" dessert, but the service blew me away!!!! read more

We made this our first venture out for a year. Not our first choice, but made a nice evening for 2 couples. Be aware of the check in procedures with Covid restrictions. We made a third stop at Olive Garden after 2 other places had 1 hour 15 to 1 hr 40 waiting times (lesson learned about calling ahead on a Friday evening). At 6:15 the wait at OG was 30 min for a walk in. Leave your phone number, wait in your car. You get a text when a table is ready. Seating is well spaced out. Service was fine, what one would expect. Salad and breadsticks started the meal. I am a fan of both at OG. Be careful not to over do. Our orders included the Steak Alfredo and Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara. My wife's 6oz steak was OK. Nothing special. But it's not a steak house. The Alfredo was good. Not highly recommended. My Chicken/Shrimp carbonara was really good. This Olive Garden is located next to the Fairfield and is convenient to walk to the restaurant. I was seated quickly and attempted to log in to the free WiFi. I wasn't successful but the prompt service and great tasting food made up for this issue. The chicken parmesan is crisp and the marinara sauce is plentiful. The crowd was light but a group of high school kids didn't make my dining experience pleasant with their gossip and whining attitude of high prices on the menu. My experience at the Dubuque Olive Garden was simply unparalleled. I had somehow never swum to the seemingly ubiquitous establishment that is OG, and boy was I missing out! My party was a large school, but the service was attentive and helpful. I began with the usual suspects: Shirley Temple and a milkshake. The breadsticks arrived soon after, and that's when everything changed. They were warm, soft, mouthwatering (which is a lot coming from me), and honestly life-changing. I had twelve, probably. Our waiters just kept bringing them. I may or may not have uttered the phrase, "manna from heaven." The rest of the meal was similarly delightful. The fried mozzarella sticks, fettuccini alfredo, and zeppoli combined with the warm, friendly atmosphere made for a fantastic dining experience. From the moment I approached the door, the server saw me with a baby carrier and dashed to the door to open it for me. Thank you. Our server Michelle M. was very pleasant and attentive to our needs, she brought by refills before we asked for them, that's always nice. Chain restaurants are always the most difficult to review. What is new to say, aren't they pretty much the same all over? I went here for lunch on a weekday and my dining partner tried out the new panini addition to the menu and ordered the Shrimp Scampi Fritta Sandwich (half size). We ended up splitting the sandwich and my Linguine alla Marinara between the two of us so I got to try the sandwich as well. We were both unimpressed. The sandwich fell apart and was difficult to eat and there just seemed to be so much bread. The pasta was great and I really like the lunch portions instead of the dinner portions. One thing I've noticed about this location is that it is very common to see the lady I assume to be a manager. She often comes around to the tables and asks how the meal is and makes sure you have everything you need. Very nice to see that. read more

One of their hostesses needs to take a class on customer service or get an attitude adjustment. I called today asking about making a possible reservation, without knowing what their reservation policies are, and the hostess rudely tells me I'm supposed to call two hours ahead of time when they don't open until 11. I respond to her rude response, with "oh, ok" in a surprised manner, and she then hung up on me without saying anything else. Unfortunately that was the place we like to go because it was the closest to home I'd rather drive further to go to a much better one. The workers here are very lazy and you barely can get waited on. They were completely slow and we got sat down right away. But it took them 20 minutes to come over and ask us what we wanted to drink and another 10 minutes to go get our fountain drinks.
