Atmosphere is very family style as you have large tables and bench seating. So any intimate outings will not be here. Service was ok. We had a big group so they handled pretty well. This was our 2nd visit to 7 Hills and both visits were outstanding. The place was busy this visit during a saturday college football and they have rows of picnic type tables in threes. My wife went with appetizers only, consisting of Pretzel Roll Bites and Cheese Curds. I went with the Poultrygeist Sandwich. The apps my wife ordered were out of of this world, everyone at our table devoured what she couldn't get to. My Sandwich was Texas Toast, loaded with Chicken and with the raspberry sauce and all the ingredients blended into an incredible sandwich. My in-laws had a Cuban Sandwich and in was on the SOFTEST bread ever. We will be returning to try the rest of the menu, soon! read more

Seven Hills new restaurant at the Best Western was one of our worst experiences we ever had at a restaurant! We were there Sunday for lunch the service was poor, and after waiting an hour and a half for appetizers that arrived at the same time as our meal, the food was the worst. Add to that we waited for our beers for 20 minutes, their specialty. Finally a manager stopped by after our meal, we politely expressed our frustration and she said well now that I'm here I'm going to make this better. She barely apologize and gave us no compensation for everything being wrong. She just said come back, it will be better. It'll be a long time before we come back. Long waits for beverages, bad appetizers, and a worse meal,an attitude from a manager. This is a far cry from the original location on Washington. Highly recommend NOT going there. read more

I actually sampled some of their beer at my VRBO and liked the beer. I tried a few other beers while dinning and liked them all enough to purchase some to take home. Menu was good, typical and nothing really unique. Service was good, not outstanding. Quality was good, nothing amazing. Atmosphere was great. Seating outside, lots of inside seating with a big table to fit 20 people which was pretty cool. I had the brisket chili and it was good. The brisket chunks were a bit overcooked and dry. Beers were incredible we tried 3 flights of 18. The sours were my favorite by far. Specifically Purple Reign. The food was very good as well get the Yellowstoned if you like burgers. Now on to the ambiance: Holy smoke the use of an old church had me iffy but when you get inside ... good lord. It was absolutely beautiful in there ... dare I say immaculate. The original stained glass was maintained as well as the altar iconography. It was absolutely magnificent. 10 out 10 times would recommend. The staff were great and service was phenomenal. Stopped in here around 9 PM after we checked into the hotel right next-door. 7 hills did not disappoint. Our server was super helpful and informative, not just in regards to the beer, selection and menu, but also gave us a bunch of pointers on things to see and do around town. Even though we were one of the last tables left before closing time we did not feel rushed at all. All the food was on point. We shared a order of garlic Parm chicken wings for an appetizer which were super flavorful and crispy. For entrées, we got the brisky bites sandwich, which is pictured, the 7 Hills smash burger, the return of the Mac attack burger, and the basic bro burger. All were excellent. 7 Hills was a great spot to stop for good beer and food. Nice, laid back ambience. It's a big place with plenty of seating and stage for live music. Service was very friendly and staff made some good recommendations. Be sure to hit happy hour for 1/2 price drafts. I am more of a wheat beer person and 7 Hills offered two options while I was here- both good. A "bananas" which tasted like a traditional Hefeweizen and a citrus which was equally good. I tried the pretzel bites with beer cheese and didn't like the pretzel bites (smoked in butter) nor the beer cheese which I though fairly tasteless. Lots of other options and would steer you to something else. I had the brisket as my entree and loved it. A full pound of meat so come really hungry or order to potentially share. Served trimmed and smoked perfectly. Bbq sauce had two options. Both good but I preferred the sweet versus the Carolina, the latter I thought a little bland. I've enjoyed sampling different beers on each visit and have also had food on at least one other occasion. Our table started with Hangry Sprouts, Curb Your Enthusiasm cheese curds and Zeit Bites (pretzel bread bites) - all of which were above average bar food (sorry, no pictures of them). For my meal, I ordered the Carolina Burger (see picture) with Sweet Potato Fries. While it was above average overall (especially the fries), I found the pulled pork on the burger to be quite dry. Another person at the table ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese (see picture) and thought it tasted good - had just hoped there would be more lobster in it. If you are stopping by to try their beers, this is definitely a great stop and if you decide to add food to your stop, you can expect better than average appetizers and entrees. Food was very solid, pulled pork was actually well cooked,juicy. The pork on it's own needed no assistance from sauce or cheese, so kudos on that. That being said, beer cheese and sauces were quite good. Wish the Carolina sauce had more spice/kick. The merry berry wrap was incredible super good balance of fresh and savory; the sauce that goes with it was the star, sweet, tangy, slight spice really good. The fries looked incredible, and were good, but they were way over salted. It looked like they had seasoned salt and pretzel salt on them? Which after awhile was too much and became kinda inedible. Beer was kinda mid, enjoyed some nothing really stuck out. For beer I think Dubuque has much better places imo, but for food and drink 100% solid place would return for sure. read more

Even tho it was a bit busy the bartender poured me a sample of 4 sours before I decided on Punchy the clown. Then I had Purple Reign. We were passing through on our way home in Cedar Rapids and decided to trust some other reviews here and give this place a try. We are both SO GLAD we did. Our server was so attentive and willing to give information and recommendations. We started with the pretzel bites & beer cheese and they were INCREDIBLE. For or mains I had the Fun Guy and it was great but a bit too heavy on the cheese sauce for my taste. I feel insane saying that though so take that tidbit with a grain of salt. My fiancée had the 7 Hill burger and loved everything about it. We both thought the fries were delicious as well. For a Sunday at almost 8 pm the place was still fairly steady. We planned to ski for two days while in Galena only to realize shortly before our trip that the mountain was only open one of the days. With a free day, we decided to explore the area a bit and headed into Dubuque. My family came to Dubuque as a kid and the only things I remember are: the funicular, Timmerman's, and the time my blanket got left at home and I was inconsolable. We loved the area 7 Hills is in, a cool repurposed industrial area with several breweries, bars and restaurants. We chose 7 Hills for two reasons - the proximity to Galena and the food and beer menu. The brewery in a factory building with lots of exposed brick and high ceilings. There's a stage, a merch store, tables and sizeable bar. We popped in for dinner and to try some of their beers. I like that their beers are offered in multiple sizes - 5oz, 9oz, and 16oz if I recall correctly. They have varieties for pretty much every beer palate. I tried their recently released sour and their hard ginger beer. Our food was pretty good too. I opted for the shrimp tacos and husband one of the burgers. They offer an impossible option on their burgers, which makes it a pretty accessible menu. Overall, we were plans and would come back if we're in the area. read more

7 Hills employees screwed up my orders. The french fries were so disgustingly over-salted, they were not edible. We had to throw them away. I requested a substitution. I didnt get it, even though I was charged for it. 7 Hills employees tried to blame Door Dash for their horrible food quality. They could not have cared less after they got my money. When I wrote a comment on Instagram, 7 Hills employees deleted it, to hide their conduct and horrible service. Employees who refuse to take responsibility for poor customer service, who intentionally hide negative comments, manager who blames a delivery company that doesnt cook the food it delivers.
