While visiting Laredo for a work project I decided to stop into Olive Garden for dinner one evening. While I acknowledge this is nothing authentic in the ways of Italian food its still good and tasty. I ordered the lasagna small portion and a glass of red wine. The lasagna was portioned out perfectly for my appetite. I was also provided endless soup and breadsticks. The service was fast and excellent. I eat at Olive Garden, on average, once a decade. I remember I came the first time after my parents recently divorced and my mom got the unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks. I remember it was a great meal. A few years later in high school, with my dad's side of the divide, I got some alfredo noodles with beef tips or something. I still vividly remember that dish to this day. It was immensely satisfying, luscious and indulgent, with a heaping portion befitting the young regent I was. And yet, I never returned. I left that Olive Garden like a lover scorned, knowing not what it could have done to have deserved it. Over the years, the wedge between Olive Garden & I was driven ever deeper on account of what I'll admit was my self-sown disaffection. "Who would pay $15 for CHAIN pasta," I tut-tutted to myself, while filling up on slopghetti from Cici's. "I heard that the private equity company that acquired them even publicly castigated their C-Suite over not mandating the pasta water be salted." I fancied myself a cut above the Olive Garden demographic. I was the kind of guy who'd spend $150 in downtown Austin on a godawful Italian farce, forcing down my feelings of spaghettinadequacy with bites of overpriced, bad noodles covered in a schlocky sauce. And where was OG during these times? Even though their NoBu branch was just a half mile away from my long-term abode, to the extent that I'd decoupled the 'Garden from my psyche, that half mile might as well have been a billion light years. It wasn't until ~9 days ago that OG and I rekindled our fling. I was in a vulnerable place; the crossborder queue had primed me for dinnertime, and the vast expanse of post-Laredo interstate nothingness did little to sate my expectant gut. My wife wanted Italian, and hell, I even went to Golden Corral for her once, and after a minute Olive Garden wadn't sounding so bad after all. And let me tell you what, this place was popping! I guess if you're in Laredo, OG is the place to be. We were seated quickly, as a party of 2, much to my delight. Everything after was kind of a whirlwind. Between the exciting novelty of a tablet (?!) on the table, and the ultra attentive and fine-tuned service from the waitstaff, the night fell together organically. These kids were something else, too; not jaded, like big city waitstaff. Kept the free salad coming, and seemed genuinely happy to hook it up with the freshest of iceberg. And I think that's what makes this place special. In smaller towns like Laredo, where nobody's got something to prove, you can just sit back and unwind at Olive Garden. And nobody's gonna judge you for it. read more

Traveling on business. Sat at the bar for my traditional soup and salad with an adult beverage. The bartender was very nice, courteous, and professional. You could tell that the restaurant was about at full capacity but it didn't keep them all from smiling and staying happy! read more

I am vegan with severe allergies to dairy. This was the only restaurant in the vicinity that news what vegan was. They reviewed their allergen menu with me. I was able to eat a hot meal. I had the minestrone soup and a create your own pasta, and the breadsticks without butter. The staff was nice and more importantly knowledgeable about what they were serving. I was in the mood this evening for some good Italian food and honestly, it's been a while since I've been to Olive Garden. After a pretty strenuous work out, I was definitely craving some food. First off let me start by saying my waitress was very attentive and provided great customer service. Even with that being said, I can only give this place one star. The food was absolutely horrible. I ordered the create your own pasta dish, with whole wheat linguine, Parmesan pesto and had it with meatballs and shrimp. I was initially served bread and salad. The bread was old and almost stale and the salad had wilted lettuce. I ate around the wilted lettuce and at least enjoyed some of it. Upon the arrival of my dinner, the presentation looked nice however it tasted "processed" and was just dry. It really had no flavor. The meatballs definitely were not fresh and tasted like they were previously frozen and pre-made. The pesto sauce just didn't have a good flavor to it. I really wish I had gone with the Alfredo sauce. The sautéed shrimp that was added onto my dinner didn't seem to be at all sautéed. It consisted of about seven or eight tiny shrimp which I paid four dollars extra for. For the money I spent this evening, I really didn't get my moneys worth. I left very disappointed with Olive Garden. Like many other restaurants that used to be good in the past, I have a feeling they are cutting costs and cutting on the quality of the food. They have removed the lunch portion chicken parmigiana, which was s bummer as that's what I came for. I was able to piece mill a pasta bowl that got me close to what I wanted. This is the worst Olive Garden I have ever been too. The service is always horrible and the food is mediocre. My husband and I went one day while they were on a wait. After getting on the wait list, a few minutes later I noticed a couple that came in after us get sat. They had been talking a server (a friend of theirs) and the server took it upon themselves to seat the table in her section that had just opened up. Meanwhile we continued to wait. The hostess couldn't have cared less. One Saturday evening there with my husbands family the service lacked as usual. We went almost our entire meals without our drinks being refilled. I eventually went up to the bar and got water for us. When the server came back and we asked for drink refills, that he never brought, basically said our drinks weren't refilled because it was a Saturday night and they were busy.... Seriously. It's a chain restaurant so don't assume you'll get Laredos new installment of amazing Italian food T. Mia on Del Mar. This is tied with Roadhouse. You get DECENT food that beats heating up frozen food at home but nothing close to a home cook feel. Why 4 stars? The service. Maybe I was lucky but my service was over the top good. If the service is good, I didn't get food poisoning and food was properly cooked and I could eat it at a national chain? It's a win. If you want food for 3 under 40--go here! I called to make a reservation for 15 ppl, a girl answered and I told her I wanted to make a reservation for she said okay let me check in the front. She placed me on hold for 9mins until someone else answered (Laura) and asked if she could help me with something, I repeated to her what I told the first girl and was on hold again! This time for 6mins. I hung up called back and the first girl who answered me answered again I told her I was on hold for 15 mins and no one can give me a yes or no if I can reserve for 15, she was able to book the reservation for 15 ppl in less than a min-.- why didn't she just do that in the first place I get you need to check and make sure but for 15 mins!And when I called the second time it sounded like she was eating! read more

The stuffed chicken marsala with the roasted potatoes is to die for. Chicken is grilled to perfection as in between the two breasts, is parmesan stuffing with sundries tomatoes. It's an Olive Garden chain restaurant so you pretty much know what the meal options are. I've visited this location numerous times for work and with family. The service is generally very good and the meals are delivered quickly and accurately. The restaurant is kept pretty clean and I have never had any problems there. probably the best Italian food you can find in Laredo. Things can slow down a little when it gets crowded, but the staff is professional and courteous. read more

We ordered some takeout, and accidentally took the wrong merchandise. Once we realized what it happened, we turned around to return what we had and retrieve what we had ordered. The kind manager, John A., went out of his way to make us feel special. For our effort of having to return, he gave us dessert as well as drinks and a bag of ice. He walked it out to the car with my daughter who I sent in to retrieve our order. This is first-class service. They have gained a customer for life. The service was slow, the food was ok. My salad came out 1 min before my entree. The server never brought us our bread, even after couples of times asking. He came by once to check on us. Basically, everything I order came all at once along with the soup and salad. Which I think they need to space it out a little bit. First and last time for me at this restaurant. Five of us. One got soup that wasn't warm and was mostly liquid. Igot charged for spaghetti dinner instead of the lunch and hardly had any sauce on it. One didn't get her main course until the rest of us were done eating. Service was very slow. When I paid with my credit card, I wrote down a ten percent tip.
