I took my dad here for his ultrasound appointment. We came in the early morning, basically his appointment time was when the place actually open. So we were able to find parking easily. It was confusing to figure out where we were but the security personnel and people working the information desk was helpful. The ultrasound is on the first floor so I had to take the elevator down since I entered through the second floor. My dad ultrasound on his liver didn't take long. read more

A lot of people post bad reviews in general but especially for anything Medical related. First of all, the system isn't perfect... without question, I believe we all can agree on that. As someone who has to frequent many different medical facilities, I don't think Olive View is a horrible place to go for treatment. I can say that it isn't the "Penthouse Suite" of hospitals but I have had good service and was greeted with a smile more times than not. If you go anywhere with unreal expectations, you are going to be let down. If you go somewhere and are rude and looking for some kind of argument, you'll most likely find one. I went to take my mom for her weekly lab draw. Since my mom is very ill . I was waiting for a parking spot and this nurse cut me off. She almost hit my car and almost crashed into me. She was very rude. I asked her for her name and she did not want to provide her name so I did take a picture of her license plate. There is no companion anymore I love the doctors here, but the nurses are very rude even if it's county, you should not treat your patients poorly. I haven't gone to Olive View for over 15 years as I had a great insurance but life happens and here I was . You hear all these bad things about Olive View but in my experience from today it went well. I was there at 10 am and left at 2 pm due to running test and the pharmacy so not bad on time even going to a different hospital for urgent they always take a long time . The staff was nice and the doctor paid attention to my concerns and was very informative. Overall was great and yes it's a county hospital but you go in for what you need and they take of it . read more

If incompetence had an award, they would win it. Over 14 months on a surgery list, there were no updates for 6 months. I called to see where I was on the list and found out I was not even on it because they were waiting for a clearance. When I asked who they were waiting on for the medical clearance, they said they did not know. Month 7, the clearance issue was resolved. Month 8, they claimed they were having issues with their operating room filtration system. Month 14, they finally called to schedule the surgery with only 2 days notice. On the day of surgery, my IV line was connected, and just before being taken into the operating room, the surgery was canceled due to a medication I was not supposed to take. I had asked them multiple times whether I needed to stop any medications, and each time I was told to continue taking all of them. People have lives. We have to rearrange everything, cancel plans, reschedule commitments, take time off work, and make major adjustments to prepare for surgery on such short notice. After all that, they canceled without any regard for the impact. Do not go to this hospital if you care about your health and have other options. read more

It's really a 2/3 star, however because the nurses hospitality and service was beyond our expectation. I have to give it a four star.for example Dr. Song, nurse, Karina and nurse Cristal and so many others just cannot recall all of the names so sorry if you see this even the student nurses are trainees were amazing. We're keeping the mood up with great conversation and giving great hopes and advice. The security could use some work as love them seemed non-interested or very rude however, there were two particularly very kind, sweet, and professional they directed me exactly where to go and helped even further I could not have asked for better security. I cannot recall the names exactly but I believe one of them was a miss Gail and the other was a young African-American male thank you so much as you made our experiencing bringing our beautiful baby girl into the world a joy! 1st of all. I want to say the staff and surgical was so incredibly sweet and caring. To them i give 5 stars. This is to the security team..to them i would give 1 star...i would give a negative but officer Weiss was very sweet when i called in. I had to bring someone to the ER last month. They were in extreme pain and ended up having to stay for 5 days. I parked my car in the front because they were about to pass out from the pain. They were admitted to a room the second we arrived ( again the staff was GREAT) After about 10 minutes of me being in the room with them, a Security guard came in and asked if I could please move my car. I said of course! I asked where i could park since i lived far away and had never been there. he pointed at a spot , i said to him...are you sure, and he said " Yes no problem" I repointed, resaid the exact location and he said yes! I parked there and come out to a $338 ticket. I called in to take to the Security supervisor. Officer Weiss answered ( so extremely sweet) I gave him the details and he said he would call me back. When he did, he said good new/bad news. The good news is that we pulled the footage and saw the conversation with the security guard where he was showing me where to park,the bad news is there is nothing we could do , per his supervisor. So I asked to speak with her. ( Ms Ramirez) She was not only dismissive but just said " we will retrain the person who gave you the wrong information. I said "That's it?" and she said " yes, nothing we can do. I said, it was YOUR security guard who told me to park there. her answer was , go to the complaint dept at the sheriff's office. You and your Team made it so easy , you kept us updated on what he needed gave him CT Scan and MRI all in the same day on site !! I was blown away with the Services you provided him and how quickly you and your Team got him set up !! I'm extremely grateful he was on your watch with you and your Team . I also saw Med Students in training learning & listening from the Senior Doctors while they were helping my Dad with is situation which I taught was cool what better way to learn I owe you guys one Bigtime !!!!!! I'd avoid the ER at all costs. The most expensive in the city. I went in for chest pain. All they did was an EKG test in the waiting room. Never was admitted, just hung out in the waiting room for 8 hours until I started feeling better and just went home. Turned out I had food poisoning that elevated my heart rate. Two years later I get the bill. $6097. Called, which is an hour wait to talk to billing, they said even if you walk in the door, give them your name, turn around and walk out, you get a bill for $6097. Everyone gets billed $6097 no matter what. It's so they don't have to supply you with an itemized bill. Meanwhile I've been treated for a broken bone at another ER in Hollywood, that was less than $3000. My advice, avoid this ER at all costs, go to urgent care if you're not immediately dying, you'll pay less than $200 and worse case scenario is they tell you to go to the ER, in which case, go to any ER other than Olive View. read more

If I can give this place a zero I would. Stay away from here! Do not bring yourself or your loved ones. Staff here are very disrespectful except a few. I've been here now admitted for 5-6 days and they still haven't figured out what is going on with me. I've been in pain all day unable to sleep at nights and made a single request. The request was for my mom to stay the night with me since I get severe body aches and am uncomfortable. My mother would massage my body, my joints, and muscles so my body calms down a bit which helps me a lot! But because of "policy" no "visitors" I don't remember when my MOM was a visitor after 8pm. Is 1:45 am now I took a walk outside because I'm hitting and can't sleep. To my suppose a patients door opened and two young adults walked out with visitation stickers staying the night as visitors. When questioned to the nurse because the team here made a big scene and ended up sending 4 large dudes for my mom to escort her out.... Fucking pathetic... the nurse said they were not visitors straight up lied to my face. And when I said you know what that's not what it looks like to me she goes on to say that the patient is in comfort care and might not be here in the next couple of days. Sorry to hear for the family that they are going through that but you are telling me you want me to be on the brink of death or on my death bed just so my mother can come comfort me? On top of that I was scheduled for a biopsy so one of the nights after 12AM No Food Or Drinks For Me. These guys dehydrated me until the morning just for my nurse to come and tell me that the procedure is canceled because of Veterans Day. What do you mean by that.... So you make me dehydrate my self for almost 10 hours plus just do my procedure don't get done? All because the fucking DR decided it's not urgent enough for him to come to work on Veterans Day and do the procedure they said they were gonna do? Wtf kind of communication between the staff is this? Anyway long story's short you're better off paying private healthcare bills than come here. You'll need a fucking miracle here. Let's see they are dehydrating me again for the procedure let's see if they cancel it again on me and this is the second time they dehydrate me for no fucking reason. I'm a nurse my self LVN and wow no bedside manners by anyone. Everyone just lies to your face and one ups you. The supervisor of 4A some old lady is as very keen in her 8pm visitation policy like her life depended on it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any pictures because there is a Los Angeles Sheriff's Department inside the hospital. Literally inside, big dark tinted glass as you walk in to the patient's check in desk. I was treated well and the nurse who attended was very helpful and nice. The doctor was very thorough and very clear about my results and what he had ordered for labs. The reason why i say that I'm not sure about recommending it. It's just something about seeing a Sheriffs Department inside. What happened there that they had to have one. read more

I have never had to go through so many circles to speak to someone ever in my life. I have had to have a prescription filled for over a week now but to do so they needed approval so a week before I needed that refill I called to do so. I called back two days later and they said they never received anything about a request...okay.... so I sent it again. Another two days pass, call, on hold for over a hour, once I got ahold of someone they said the request was put in but nothing was done about it.....so another request was put in. Go past the weekend, I am now out of my medication, I call in, wait a hour and when someone answers I get the same response, so once again ANOTHER request was put in and they said this time they will have the pharmacist call in and do the request, fine sure, hopefully this time it finally goes through. I call in today, two days after that, and surprise surprise it has once again not been responded to, nothing has been done and I have now not had my medication for over a week and a half. For a place that is supposed to have your best interest in your health in mind it sure doesn't feel like it. And not to mention, they will tell you "Oh you need to speak directly to a doctor for an immediate response" And then will forward your call to another automated answer service that will just loop you back to them and this is after sitting on hold for another hour or so. I understand that refilling prescriptions can be touchy especially with pain medication or anything addictive but my medication is for HIV care. This has been expressed to everyone I spoke to but that doesn't seem to matter to anyone. I'm telling them that this is directly effecting my health and can cause problems in the near future and though patiently livelihood should be at the forefront, it is easier for them to shuffle you around getting lost in the endless phone transfers than for them to directly fix your problem in the moment. This hospital is supposed to raise future medical professionals to be great but lack in the empathy they should teach you to prosper. read more

Sheeesh Closest place near us when my mom started feeling sick. Came to the ER at 1pm. Sat in waiting room for about 2hrs. Finally got moved to a bed in the ER - been here since 4pm. The day shift was better about answering our questions and keeping us as a family informed when we ask. Fast forward, it's night shift on schedule & no change of shift report - just a new nurse? With meds that were not discussed prior. And attitude, lots of that. And yeah we're sitting in a er room still & it's 11:20pm .. stil waiting. Might as well clock in and work, definitely spent a whole 8hours - with a plan of care & suggestions. Pros: there are beds inside this building. Cons : *L O N G W A I T S. *confusing routes *staff doesn't know the layout of the hospital / can't guide you. *No one treats patients with respect. *No one introduces themself on shift change. *Then didn't tell us about any new procedures or medications. *Night shift is really rude and trash. *The triage is pretty bad, We've heard patients have stayed in the ER for up to two days in a waitlist the be transferred to a bed. read more

This review is specifically on the special treatment clinic: i have a lot of respect for all the workers here at the hospital and i appreciate their hard work but with some exceptions like in this case the people behind the desk of special treatment, very unprofessional unorganized and irresponsible. Doctor schedule Us for admission on a specific day and time, and when we got to the clinic, the worker at the desk had no idea of whats going, tried to reschedule for a different day of the following week for a simple covid test and lab work, that it was scheduled for the same day, people here are lazy too busy looking at their cell and not willing to do their job right! My father was seen at the ER 2-3 times this year (2023) with severe abdominal pain, 60lb weight loss, unable to swallow food or water, feeling bloated since Oct 2022, the dr he saw told him " you're not bleeding, nor are your symptoms concerning you don't need an endoscopy" ( after he told the dr that a GI recommended one) never was he admitted. A CT scan was done in May 2023, where it says concerning results & the dr told him everything was fine. Those 2-3 times he was seen he told the dr that his symptoms are not normal & that he is TIRED of the pain & of waiting hours to be seen for nothing. She/ he said " I know , I know." fast forward to July 2023, my father was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer. I took him to CEDARS SINAI where we got the diagnosis. It's a hospital it could be good or bad on one hand my father in law came in with an almost explosive bladder they did help him out but were. A bit neglectful with his catheter but he did get the care he needed eventually And I came with my wife because she had excruciating pain because of her tooth couldn't sleep or eat and couldn't wait for the dentist appointment so we came. They gave her a pill for the pain and when she asked for a pill to get her through the night they denied her and offered a different solution one that she did not want to do. In the end they gave her medicine to get her through the night but the doctors. Seem to not care using a cellphone flashlight to check her mouth and on top of that another few hours to get discharged the staff here needs to do better for all patients who come here. read more

SO DISGUSTED WITH THIS PLACE. My 66 year old dad was transferred here to the ICU and they said his breathing was so bad they put him on a respirator. Long story short they said he was going to die soon and that his lungs became healthy enough to take him off of it. We took him off the respirator so he could have a somewhat normal life before passing. He was there a week and the whole time he had a feeding tube through his nose into his stomach. He kept rubbing his stomach as he was fully responsive, just not able to say anything due to having had respirator tubes down his throat for days. After a week I noticed nothing was going through the feeding tube in his nose so I asked the nurse what was going on why haven't I seen any liquids or liquid food going through the tube. She said they weren't feeding him. MY DAD HAD BEEN THERE A WHOLE WEEK WITH NO ONE FEEDING HIM OR GIVING HIM WATER. I asked the doctor and she said that when patients are end of life they stop feeding them because basically there's no point in feeding them and "it can make things worse." I'm sorry but this should have been discussed with the family members about his plan of care. No doctor should just decide on their own that someone doesn't need any food all of a sudden just because they might die soon. I am utterly disgusted with the way this hospital treated my dad and it keeps me up at night knowing my dad wasn't fed the week before he died. He was eating before he stepped in that hospital. I understand that my dad was end of life and that his stroke caused heart issues leading to his death, but that in NO means should be a reason why they don't give him liquid foods/liquids. I am contemplating a lawsuit. Please watch over your loved ones if you are in the same situation where they are end of life, because they will NOT FEED YOUR FAMILY AND STARVE THEM TO DEATH. read more

They told my aunt she had a urinary tract infection and they were going to have to start antibiotics with an IV. Then they said her heart was beating too fast and that she had high blood pressure and she couldn't leave. The nurse came rushing in and then said "You're going home." My aunt asked about her heart, and her infection, then the nurse, David, responded "you're fine" and sent her home. It seems they lack organization. It's crazy to keep her there for 4-5 hours, tell her she has all these things wrong, and then out of nowhere tell her she's fine and send her home. The only thing good they found was she was dehydrated and they gave her the IV saline- that's the only thing they did that helped. Teams.of doctors sorounded me at times. They were aware of the details of my case. I felt included in the decisions being made. I can tell you stories about how they cared for me, but it.would never compare to the fact that they saved my life . . . Best hospital in the valley ! They care, they listen they go above and beyond. I went in for an abdominal pain that wasn't going away I explained my symptoms and they knew what it was already , they even assured me by taking blood test and ultrasounds.
