He never lost his cool even though it required multiple calls to my doctor's office. He was helpful, efficient, and thorough. And everyone who works here that I've encountered has been friendly. One of the ladies at the front desk of radiology was wonderfully proactive in checking when a technician could come and see me. Much appreciated. Biggest down side is if you park in the lot to the right of the hospital (near Renaissance Imaging), you have to walk a ways to get to the hospital entrance. And if you want validation, you may get a bit of a run around. To get my ticket validated, security referred me to Admin's front desk. Admin's front desk referred me to security and radiology to get it. When I went to radiology, they had to run to the front where security was because they ran out of validation stickers.

While I'm grateful for the medical treatment itself, the way I was treated by portions of the nursing staff was unacceptable. Throughout my stay, I felt ignored, talked down to, and treated with a complete lack of compassion and respect. Instead of feeling cared for during a vulnerable moment, I felt like I was an inconvenience. I also personally observed a member of the nursing staff asleep at the nurses' station while I was still a patient, which raised concerns about attentiveness and patient care. Every patient deserves to be treated with dignity, professionalism, and empathy. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I have filed or am filing formal complaints with the appropriate hospital departments and regulatory agencies so these concerns can be investigated. I sincerely hope the hospital takes these concerns seriously and works to improve how patients are treated.

When entering the building, be prepared to have your ID because you need it to get a printed badge. They scan the ID, prints a sticker with your complete name, date, and room number. They have different colors for different days. The staff in ICU and adult ICU were so attentive, welcoming, and friendly. They kept me up to date with information like no other hospital. Most of the doctors my friend had were great. Dr. Williams / Dr. Yeganeh team definitely made sure that I was always well informed of any procedures needed and taking place. In the regular recuperating rooms, the staff was just a click away from the patient's controller in the room. The same controller to watch TV. BTW, they were playing the FIFA games in English and Spanish. I was quite surprised that the level of care was outstanding.

Then I got put in a room on the top floor and was assigned some amazing nurses who have spoiled the heck out of me since I got here!! Sarah is the first nurse I met. She has been so incredibly attentive and sweet to me the last whole stay. She's really gone above and beyond to ensure my comfort and make sure I got everything I needed, and always with a very sweet disposition and smile! The other nurses and respiratory therapist have been wonderful also Delma and Kavi then Baljit and Elma the next day. Everybody is kind and considerate here. They really go the extra mile to ensure you are truly OK before they leave you. When Jeremy Zak walked around in the morning the next day, I was so impressed that the CEO was walking around making sure everybody was OK. That blew my mind. Every person I've encountered here has gone above and beyond and Ben super sweet and kind and I told them that they really live up to their companies's motto "hello human kindness"! I made sure I told Jeremy about his excellent staff, and I told Rogina Nencey the nursing Director about how well I got taken care of in detail! I highly recommend this hospital for any procedure, it is top-notch and worth more than five stars, but I'll put five stars because that's all I can! It's been 2 weeks and we have never been called with blood test results, I called to see about getting a handicapped sign and was told why didn't we ask someone when she was in the hospital for it, and to ask someone else at one of the specialist office to do it. Supposedly this is the primary care. Terrible service, Dr Leon and staff do not care about patients, it's a shame Dr gagneja left and service has gone downhill. Front desk needs better training as well, rude and cold would rather pawn work off then do it.

Who is supportive and ready to answer your questions to their best knowledge. My initial doctor was brilliant Dt. Tang, REALLY BRILLIANT, who I had to mention, (he works with Leavey Cancer Center) but after my cancer went into remission my insurance company decided that I need to be with different oncologist (I'll never understand how this insurance bureaucrats work) The Oncology Institute in Northridge (which is across the Leavey Cancer Center by the way lol) is specializing in, yes- oncology. The office has 4 doctors, they all have impressive backgrounds. Dr. Paul La Porte, is my doctor, who is very knowledgeable and caring, although sometimes can comes across as little cocky like some doctors are lol, but overall knowledgeable and caring, in my experience. It is very crucial to have a good relationship and great level of comfort with your oncologist, and I believe with your doctors in general. I was very nervous when I had to (well more like forced to) change my oncologist. But after meeting Dr. La Porte, I felt that I can rest assure that I am still in good hands. The office is clean and nice. The staff is polite. You come in, sign in and wait. Chairs now are comfortably set up so people are not in each other's face, which is very important when you are already vulnerable and more susceptible to COVID virus, fu and cold, since you are immunocompromised. Check up rooms are clean and cozy, with nice art work hanging on the walls, which is a nice destruction, not letting you focus only on medical information, and trust me you have lots of that, comes with the condition. Also, what I like about Dr. La Porte is he is friendly, easy to talk to, does answer his texts and emails, if I have any questions or concerns. He does provide me with my test results ahead of my appointment time when applicable, so If I have questions I'll have time to prepare and ask. My own experience here is good, but the waiting time is what makes me give them 3 stars. I do not wish upon anyone to hear those words ever, and may you stay Blessed. But if you ever hear that, please do not loose hope, do not stop fighting, believe, stay strong and positive and with the help of great oncologists, their team, your friends and family, you are a winner. THE ONCOLOGY INSTITUTE OF HOPE AND INNOVATION is a very misleading name: they crushed every bit of…read morehope I had and they couldn't innovate well enough to determine whether or not I was their actual patient. At 8:30 AM the office officially opened and I was already caller number 26. I made two calls over two days, both with 20-minute+ on hold times -- after which I had to hang up to return to work -- and one 45 minute hold time on the third day that ended in someone answering the phone to tell me the schedulers had gone to lunch. Call back later. He was unmoved by my outrage. A friend noticed that the institute's website had a link for setting up appointments. I followed the directions, uploaded my insurance card, downloaded the app, and was given a confirmation including a date, a time, an oncologist's name (Dr. Bala Ganesh Gopurala) and even his photograph with APPOINTMENT BOOKED! in bold capital letters. A week later, I arrived for my appointment and was told (by a very indifferent receptionist who barely looked up from her computer) that I was not in the system. No appointment. Nothing. Dr. Gopurala had been at their Riverside office for months, she said. My name, my phone number, and my request for an appointment were logged into the system from my text request only, but when I asked why no one had contacted me after a week, she shrugged her shoulders. That's not an exaggeration -- she shrugged! Finally, the fuss we raised brought a compassionate doctor to the waiting room and she agreed to see me. She got the ball rolling by calling the breast cancer surgeon and reassured me that the website, the app download, and the IT department were not up to par. Ya think? After that, everything seemed to fall into place... until the institute called a couple of weeks later to say they needed to reschedule my appointment. I asked, "What appointment?" They had sent neither an email nor a text, and had not broached the subject of a follow up appointment at that point. I agreed to the reschedule, but once again I never received one email, text, nor voicemail confirmation for it. Near the end of December, City of Hope contacted me to ask why they had not been sent a referral for the radiation treatments that the oncologist had recommended. I gave the scheduler the institute's proper name, address, and the name of the oncologist who'd taken pity on me that day. City of Hope called right back to inform me that the Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation said I was not in their system! I immediately called my primary care physician and requested another oncology referral. On January 9, 2026, OIHI called again to confirm my January 12 appointment. Fascinating! An appointment with a clinic that has twice insisted I was not in their system? I told them to delete me. I was moving on. I understand that there are a lot of people in Los Angeles. I understand that clinics are understaffed and overworked. I understand that I am NOT the only person with cancer in the San Fernando Valley community. But a modicum of professional demeanor, efficiency and competency is the least any patient deserves. The very least one can ask is for a website that has up-to-date doctors and staff on its scheduling app and an IT department that checks its website for accuracy; that assures that there's a direct connection to the scheduling department. The very least one deserves is a return call within 24 to 48 business hours. The very least one deserves is an iota of compassion from the people who schedule the appointments. After a cancer diagnosis, you are already panicked. Often terrified. One cannot help but feel that every single minute is of the essence. All this to say that if you are referred to the Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation, BEWARE. Their behavior seems to indicate that they HOPE you'll catch on that your diagnosis is not their problem. Perhaps your poor man's health insurance makes them INNOVATE ways to get you to give up and go away. Or perhaps they simply don't give a crap -- I don't know which, but enter at your own risk. Becoming a patient at their clinic is nothing short of a crapshoot. And you might end up losing your dice.

They are great and caring. The only person preventing an overall 5 stars is due to their physical therapist named DAVE. He is the most sarcastic, snide, condescending and unbearable person I have ever met in the health care space. And having to deal with his careless, nonchalant attitude while in recovery made my recovery very uncomfortable. He blatantly would disrespect his coworkers and doctors in front of me and treated me as if I was stupid if I would inquire about ANYTHING. You can feel the discomfort/patience of the case managers, nurses, doctors and anyone that dealt with him while I was there. Almost like they know that's just how he is daily. He mentioned that he has been there for 30 years, so he gives off an "I don't care, I'm retiring soon" attitude which translates to the way he treats people. Anyways, 5 stars to the nurses and docs. But my experience with Dave was just horrible.

This is the only place where we felt like we were treated like people and not cattle. My father previously had a procedure at at another place and got botched and had tons of pain after. After several other opinions, we felt the most comfortable here. The customer service is amazing and nothing I have previously seen at a medical office. Anna, the manager, kept in constant contact with us and guided us through every step of the way. My father underwent two procedures and is now pain free and has warm legs and feet and can walk. In this office I got two angiograms, and during my second angiogram, three stents were installed in my artery. All the procedures went very well, and I had less pain and inconvenience then I expected. Dr. Amin is a top-notch professional, and I am most grateful for all his and his team's fine work. All the staff was incredible, especially the manager Anna. She personally takes care of all their patients. I highly recommend Dr. Amin and all the staff in this office. Dr. Eshaghian has one of the best bedside manners I've encountered from people in the medical…read moreprofession. Plus, he is quite knowledgeable about gastroenterology. Win, win. He recently did my colonoscopy, which was my third. By far the easiest process to date, save one issue I describe below. The prep was so easy this time; Dr. Eshaghian gave me the option to do a pill based cleanse 12 hours before my procedure, and it was a game changer. And according to the doctor, the results were perfect, which was not always the case with the old "drink three gallons of this horrible tasting stuff and spend the next 36 hours on the toilet" approach. The procedure only took 20 minutes and he was bedside to give me his impressions the moment I woke up. The anesthesiologist he works with is terrific, as well. All in all, a great experience save the issue below. So I highly recommend him. There is one thing to note, however. He has contracted with Valley Endoscopy Center as the place where he does his procedures. They are quite awful. Scheduling was a cluster of confusion between the Center and the doctor's office; I got different messages each time I spoke to each and it created a bit of an issue with arranging for the timing of my before- and after-care. Plus, when I arrived for the procedure (once the time was finally solidified), there were a bunch of people sitting on the floor in the hallway because the waiting room did not have enough chairs for the number of people having procedures done. And then I went in an hour behind schedule because the Center was short-staffed with nurses (which I understand is a universal problem, so I can give a pass on this one). But the doctor is a win as mentioned above, so I was willing to put up with these issues. I do hope he upgrades the Center he uses, though.

There are hospital visits... and then there are experiences that completely restore your faith in…read morehumanity. I've spent enough time in hospitals over the years to know that kindness can sometimes feel like a limited resource. Walking into West Hills Hospital, I honestly expected good medical care. What I didn't expect was to meet one of the most compassionate, respectful, and genuinely invested medical teams I've ever encountered. Dr. Namavar, the nurses, the social workers--every single person we met treated not only our family, but our loved one struggling with addiction, with a level of dignity and respect that frankly brought us to tears. Addiction carries so much stigma, yet not once did anyone make him feel like "just another addict." They saw a human being. That matters more than words can express. Our family had a very specific plan to safely transition him from the hospital directly into a rehabilitation facility. Every concern we had was heard. Every request was taken seriously. The team coordinated with the rehabilitation center, communicated with us every step of the way, and made sure nothing slipped through the cracks. Instead of making us feel like difficult family members, they made us feel like partners in his care. Then there was Dr. Namavar. I've met a lot of physicians. I've never met one quite like him. He sat down--not because he had to, but because he wanted to--and shared his own personal experiences with loss and drug overdoses. He wasn't reading from a script or giving a lecture. He was connecting with another human being. You could actually see the walls come down in the room. It was one of the most genuine moments I've ever witnessed between a physician and a patient. To the nurses: thank you for treating us like family. To the social workers: thank you for fighting just as hard for the next step as you did for the one we were in. To Dr. Namavar: thank you for reminding us that medicine is as much about the heart as it is about science. And finally... this is probably the weirdest compliment I've ever written, but if life ever decides to throw another medical emergency my way, I sincerely hope it has the courtesy to happen somewhere near West Hills Hospital. That's how much confidence you've given me. You didn't just care for a patient. You cared for an entire family. Thank you for giving us hope when we needed it most.
