I was at the Woodbridge location. Overall it was an acceptable experience. You need to do your research on market prices for gold, natural diamonds and silver, and if you have access to a scale, weight your items. I had a rough idea of what I'd be quoted. Interesting dialogue initially, then standoffish when I started asking questions about the low market value on natural diamonds. The agent was respectful, but started backing off as if I was dismissed. That was disappointing. I had an overall positive experience with Oliver Jewellery. We dealt with Edden for the sale transaction, who was courteous, energetic, and pleasant. He sorted the items and then took them to the back. He then came out to negotiate prices. The whole transaction took about 40 minutes. I was happy to sell off four pieces (some silver Tiffanys and a white gold necklace) at the price agreed upon - a couple hundred dollars. I was comfortable with the negotiation process and pleased with the end result. After all, if it's not an heirloom to pass on to future generations and you won't be using it again, why hold onto it? I also had occasion to deal with Jonas, the owner's son. I found him to be genuine, and I believe customer service is a priority for the store. So thumbs up there. Sent some of my jewelry in for quote by mail. Received a voice message which asked me to return call. I did but then was told the person I should talk to was busy and expected call back. Nobody called back for likely a full day. I called again the next day. Again was told the person I should talk to was busy. I was then being told the items I sent would likely worth a few hundred dollars. I asked for estimate and was told under $500 which was okay. The same person called back then told me $120, jaw dropped. I reminded him "you said a few hundred dollar", he then claimed he said between $100-200. I laughed if you've told me that amount I would have instantly told to just send everything back to me. He then non-stop saying bad things about the jewelry brands I'm selling, how big discount he has to give customers and there's more ppl to sell then buy from them.... blah blah blah. I don't need to hear all that, just send those items back to me. He kept asking if i would accept $120 and how low I would accept. What was my expected selling price? Did I wear my jewelry? Etc. I insisted to have my items returned instead. He then said they will be sitting in my drawer for years, I told him ya but then since they are precious metal they will definitely worth more than $120 down the road. No one called or emailed to let me know when or did they send my items back. I had to hunt them down for tracking info. Bottom line, i just have too many jewelry and wasn't in a rush to sell but I learned the fact this company would never be the place to sell or buy anything. read more

The practice of this company is misleading , they take all the gold to the back then come out and tell you what its worth excluding the precious stones then you forget about all the different jewelery you had, instead of bringing the jewellery back to you to make and educated choice on individual pieces and prices unlike what they preach about giving you the best choice and price on seperate items. He must be called the "cashman" because he knows how to keep his cash in his own pocket. i've been in luxury jewelry/high fashion sales for more than 10 years, and when I brought in my Rolex Oyster Pearl Date from the 80s, a watch worth 11k base price at the store (vintage Rolex are worth even more). I was offered $600 for my watch, and given attitude the entire time. The man "helping" me (trying to help himself) looked like the greasiest, sleaziest con artist you've ever seen on TV - slicked back hair, a huge ring on every finger, big clunky gold watch etc. and stank of cigarettes and coffee. He tried to manipulate me into leaving my watch with him for $600 and wouldn't even try to haggle. He kept barking at me with his raspy voice and saying things like "Come on, your uncle would have wanted you to treat yourself, besides you said you won't even wear it and it doesn't look good on you... just leave it with me!" after I had told him it was my uncles who had just passed away. Unfortunately for him, I've been doing this for a LONG time and easily saw through his nonsense. PS my watch was appraised by the Rolex head office in Canada (on Steeles avenue) to be worth (currently) 13k (just last week). No scrap value, nothing - they said if I tried to sell it on Ebay someone would easily pay at least 8k for it. No thanks Russel Oliver. You may have been on top of your game years ago, but you're going to be very quickly run out of business... oh wait, no you wont - you take advantage of people who don't know the value of what they bring you who are desperate to pay their rent or put food in their kids mouths. My advice: get your jewelry appraised by an actual jeweler, or the company the jewelry comes from (just like I went to the Rolex head office). They give you an honest appraisal because they can't make any money from lying to you - if you still want to sell it, try ebay, or smaller jewelry companies. This place is a joke. Went to this store with a few gold items and a Gucci purse. Had appraisal documents for two rings valued at $6000. Plus my purse at $2100. The rep behind the counter asked me what I wanted and would counter offer and then when I accepted his offer he would say "one minute", go to the back of the store and then come out and reduce the offer he gave me. My mouth would drop and asked did you not just offer $600 for my items? and he replied "I said it's the best I could offer you, not what I'm actually able to give you". He did this twice, reducing the offer, and talked circles around me I ended up letting him know I thought his tactics resembled a vulture and I would rather keep my items than give them away for $200 less than what he originally offered. I overheard the other rep telling an older man "why are you going to keep your jewels until you die, rather than sell to me today". Be on guard when selling your items. If you are not in a rush, don't be swindled by these goons at Oliver Jewellery. They were actually smug and obnoxious and I was glad to not give them my business. Sometimes a good attitude goes a long way. I'm glad to have not been in a situation to really need to sell my items or else I would have been prey to the vultures at Oliver's store. read more

Zero stars. I was SCAMMED by Russell Oliver and his rip-off artist son. No, I don't work for a competitor or anything like that. This review is 100% true and a cautionary tale to anyone lured in by the so-called "Cashman".... I came here to sell some gold rings, most of which had some gems on them, and one of which had seven tiny diamonds (poor quality diamonds, but still obviously valuable). The son offered me a price for the gold, which I accepted, making clear that I wanted the gems extracted and returned to me. Then the son went into the back. At that point Russell himself came out and offered to show me some used jewellery and David Yurman items. This, I realized later, was an attempt to distract me. Russell's son eventually came out and handed me my money and a small baggy of my gems, at which point I left the store. It was only at that point that I realized the diamonds were not in the baggy. When I returned to the store and asked for them, the son said rudely "What would I want with your stones?" and then Russell apparently heard the commotion, came out and told me I was banned from the store ?!?!?! PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! I purchased a Tiffany & Co. bracelet and heart charm for my wife for her birthday at Oliver Jewellery. I know she wanted the bracelet and I wanted to surprise her with this beautiful gift. I was looking forward to seeing her happy. It did not go over well. The bracelet was too short and didn't fit her wrist. The heart charm was ok but it really wasn't the one she was looking for. So I went back to Oliver Jewellery to get a longer bracelet and different charm. Never have I felt so taken advantage of in my life! I was not impressed by the way they took advantage of me while in a vulnerable position - and they knew it every step of the way! The excuses and the reasons for charging me extra for what I required were absolutely hilarious! Restocking fees, cleaning fees, and re-appraisal fees. I had to take a major loss with the exchange they were offering. Ridiculous! I was not impressed. The manager suggested I take my original purchase back with me - and do what with it? If my wife can't wear it I guess she can just look at it? In the end I walked out of Oliver's with a slightly longer bracelet and NO charm for an additional $113.00. Total spent on one 8.25" inch bracelet: $468.00 - WITHOUT the heart charm! They had me and they knew it and they took advantage! They were not accommodating. In hindsight I was better off paying full price at Tiffany's. I would gladly do it but too late now. Lesson learned! At first Oliver Jeweller seemed fair and reasonable - and most accommodating - but in the end the true colours surfaced. I don't know how he has the courage and the conscience to take advantage of people like this. I question his business practices and his ethics. I will not step foot in any of his stores again! Biggest rip off. Had my diamond ring appraised by Their gemologist. Went back a year later and was given total disrespect when I wanted to sell it. They ripped me off severely. It was the day before everything was shut down due to covid. It was the store on Yonge and the gentleman was Oliver's son. A ring appraised at 52,000 was now only worth 3,000 because the original gemologist didn't remove the stone so they claim it was 2 points under 2 carats which made a drastic drop in worth. I believe their scale was rigged. He claimed the carat in baguettes was just 'chips' that they have boxes of. I shall proceed with legal help. I was fooled. I ve taken the appraisal to several gemologists and they all agree that U certainly was taken advantage of. Being traumatized due to Covid. read more

This place is not as advertised on tv. The most cash my ass! I went in with a diamond ring and said i want to pawn it so they guy asked me how much i wanted and i said 1500$. He examined the ring and said where did i come up with that ridiculous figure. I responded the ring is worth more than 2000, the diamond alone is worth 2000$ because i bought it from spence and lost the paperwork. So the employee took the ring in the back a few minutes and said he just spoke with Oliver and Oliver examined the ring and its only worth about 1400$and he would offer me 1000$. i laughed at this and said its worth way more. They guy said do you have the appraisal and i responded i lost it. so he said ya 1000$ is as high as Oliver would go. So I went back to my parents house and turned that place inside out and found the appraisal went to Spence Diamonds and got a refund because at the time i bought it they had a 5 year buy back policy on their diamonds because they know quality. So in the end i payed about 2500$ and they refunded me the value of the diamond which was 1987.00$ Oliver jewellery what a Fucken rip off. Never go there and always look around. read more
