I stopped at Birks first and they refused outright. I left a bit upset because my mother and I have used them for years. I noticed European Jewellery directly across the hall. European Jewellers has a NO REFUND policy, which is absolutely ridiculous. My husband bought a bracelet for me and I wanted to exchange it for something else. After 20 minutes looking over their stock and trying on some options, I was dissatisfied with the selection. So I asked to return the item. It was just 7 DAYS AFTER my husband made the purchase and he paid FULL PRICE for the item. I even had the original receipt (not just a gift receipt). One sales associate was so rude, constantly repeating to me "We don't have a refund policy." I got it the first time, and had to ask him to stop saying it over and over again. The issue was that I just couldn't accept it. And this was a relatively cheap item - about $200. So they've lost any future business of mine that was potentially much larger. I can't imagine spending thousands there on a diamond ring or expensive watch - they clearly don't care about the customer. I will never shop at European Jewellers again due to this very poor customer service experience. And hope you heed this warning. read more

European Jewellery has fine jewelery, yes, but I had a recent encounter with them which makes me think twice about buying anything here. I was given a Pandora bracelet as a gift. I was told by the person who gave me the gift and the Pandora store (I confirmed this information) that any retailer of Pandora, such as European Jewellery, would be able to exchange my bracelet if it did not fit, etc. Well, it did not fit. I went to European Jewellery and was told categorically by the sale staff and the manager that they would not return the bracelet because it was an "inventory" issue. Whatever that means. I guess it means, the customer should be inconvenienced so that they don't have to deal with the issue with Pandora. Meanwhile, my sister who was also given a Pandora bracelet and had the same problem had her bracelet exchanged at Cupido at Bayview Village. No problems. She even bought some extra charms from them. I guess European Jewellery is too stuck up to do my business when it comes to Pandora. I even told the manager I was thinking of buying more, but she lost my business today. No response. The fact that it's taken someone from European Jewellery nearly two years to respond to my review is pathetic and an affront to any company that takes its customer service responsibilities seriously. I'd rather you hadn't answered because you've just resurfaced all of the frustration that I had -- in 2013 -- when this happened. So, if you're going to be tone-deaf enough to send me a response so much later, I'll be glad to update my experience: After zero satisfaction at European Jewellery, which charged me about $600 and took several months to do an overhaul of my Omega Speedmaster which rendered the watch non-water resistant, I contacted Omega directly. They replaced all of the components inside the watch that had been damaged by the repair -- for free. If it weren't for Omega itself, I would have lost the use of a $3,000 watch thanks to European Jewellery. Short Story: Careless technician damaged my 2000€ georg jensen watch. Despite the price, this is not a high-end establishment. Long Story: I should have known better than to try to get my watch battery replaced at a mall jewelery store - but I did anyway. Then, I should have thought twice when the "professional" technician thought my danish watch was a skagen (those ones you buy from skymall) and had never even heard of georg jensen. After paying I watched in horror as the woman attempted to using tools obviously designed for a circular face (mine is rectangular) to dismantle and reassemble my watch. After 20+ years of keeping it in pristine condition it only took this one careless attendant to scratch it in two places. I learned my lesson - don't make the same mistake as me. No return for REFUND!!!! Beware of all the fake reviews on Google reviews!!! The sales will trick you and play the word! So my friend brought me a gift from here. She was not sure if I like it or not, so she asked the sale if its ok to return, and that women said was yes ,no problem for returning. The sales staff are incompetent and have no knowledge of what they are doing or selling and would do well selling used cars as alternative to making a living. I bought a watch from EUROPEAN JEWELLERS at the Eaton Centre location - having read someone else having issues with their repair department, I would like to share my experience with EUROPEAN JEWELLERS. My story begins when I had the Watch brought in for routine warranty work. The Watch had been damaged during the time the Watch was in their care. EUROPEAN JEWELLERS would not take responsibility and said I would have to pay to replace the damaged Bezel, Crystal and Casing. After a year of grief, the Watch still in their care, I paid $1500.00 to replace the damaged parts before finally getting my Watch back. The Watch hasn't been the same after getting it back. I suspect the moving parts have been switched and replaced with a replica as it has never kept time properly since I got it back. Stay tune for I will have this Watch appraised. read more

Is giving zero stars even possible? That's what this store deserves. I had shopped around for a particular Tissot watch($700) that I already knew I was getting. Being 19, and casually dressed, not a single sales associate would acknowledge my presence. When I asked a sales associate to look at the watch, she told me she was busy with another customer, and I would have to wait. Fair enough. When another associate returned from break, I grabbed her attention and she was showed the watch to me. When we had finished negotiating the price, I took a little extra time in deciding if I wanted the metal strap or a bracelet. Well, at this point in time, I guess she was fed up with me, and when another well-dressed customer came in, she left to go help him, taking the watches with her. I purchased an extended warranty from them for $200 while buying a Raymond Weil watch. After my watch had an issue with the faceplate (that "coincidentally" came up right after European Jewellery sent the watch for refinishing), European Jewellery refused to honour the warranty and demanded that I pay $700, claiming that I had somehow caused the damage. My watch is otherwise in pristine condition without even as much as scratch on it, so that is an absurd suggestion. After 3 months without my watch, they have refused to budge. I asked for them to either honour the warranty or refund the money since I paid for a service that they clearly had no intention of delivering. I took my Cartier Tank which having it for 7 years with no problem just for a battery replacement 14 days ago,a week after replacing battery the date start stucking in between days and tonite just stop working. IF the techniciens don't know how to work with High-end brands should simly say we can't do it, like many other stores. Short version: Do not buy your watch here. Long version: The most important thing when buying a mass manufactured product like a watch is price. I hear EJ is also lacking on other fronts such as service, maintenance, etc; but I will leave those topics to other people who have actually purchased watches from them. I am writing about price. In my experience, European Jewellery does not negotiate on price to the degree that other dealers do. They were very hesitant to give me a discount on Omega watches. I found it much easier to deal with other dealers in the city. Basically pick any of them and you can easily get a better price than at EJ. I was offered almost zero discount at EJ but got 18% - 25% at other dealers. So save your money and go elsewhere. Or if you feel like spending extra money, still go elsewhere but donate the extra cash to a charity rather than to the owners of EJ. read more

I felt unwelcome, they were condescending, because I looked like I was not wealthy when I was looking for a Omega watch. I was prepared to drop 20,000$ Instead I settled for a curb link chain and it broke that day as I was taking it off for the night. I have an in store credit when Michael Hill took back a chain without any question, because I bought it online and it was not what I wanted. That's the service they should provide. I even went into Birks another Big and very reputable store in Toronto, Ontario. They greeted me with respect. It was this Black Friday 2021. I was dressed the same way. I have an in store credit from that curb link chain I bought. The staff maybe good, but everything about them stinks. For the people that had a good experience your just lucky. We purchased a gift which was approximately $900 and the person receiving the gift did not like the gift or anything at European Jewellery. We were not allowed a refund whatsoever. My husband who is so honest, tried his best to obtain a refund, but European Jewellery did not even budge. My husband paid cash for the piece. Terrible customer service and will never shop here again. At first they told my husband he may be able to refund, as they do for some customers, but then they came back and said they couldn't. I was at Yorkdale Mall today with my wife and son, doing a little of shopping. I've been doing some thorough research on Tag Heuer watches. I've been on the fence about making such a hefty purchase but since I was recently paid my annual bonus, I was actually inclined to make this purchase. I had narrowed it down to a Tag Heuer Carrera Heritage Calibre 6, Calibre 16 or Calibre 1887 so when I arrived into the shop, I was hoping to get to see the watches side by side. A saleswoman approached me and asked if she could help me, I said 'yes', could I see the Tag Heuer, Calibre 6. She rhetorically stated that she would have to ask her manager if the watch was priced above $4000. She checked and this watch was indeed less that $4000 so she pulled the watch out from the display for me to look at, but not even bothering to remove it from the 'case' so that I could inspect the back of the watch. I then asked to see the Calibre 16 and she told me it was "the same watch but a different colour" and didn't bother pulling it out for me to see. I tried to explain to her that it was a "Chronograph" and the Calbre 6 wasn't but she didn't seem to listen/care. I then asked her to see the Calibre 1887 and when she checked the price, she said she couldn't show it to me since it was $5100. Angered, frustrated, and feeling disrespected, I turned around and walked out of the store without saying a word. I thought it was just that particular saleswoman but based on the reviews on Yelp, I think this is a recurring theme. They've lost this prospective customer for good. read more

Went to buy a Movado watch at Sherway Gardens. I was dressed casually, jeans & a polo top. Salesgirl showed me a few watches, but didn't remove them from the plastic support so I couldn't put it on my wrist to see. Then when I pointed to a 4th Movado to look at, she said "Well you can see them all through the glass." and then put the 3 on the counter back in the display case. So I am feeling my BP rise, then a man in a suit came into the store, she immediately went over to him, left me standing there, didn't say a word, like "I'll be right back" or anything. She completely ignored me! I stood there for about 2 minutes, shocked, turned around and walked out. I might add that if she had taken the time to notice, she would have seen I was wearing a Tag Heuer watch and a large sapphire & diamond ring worth almost 10K. Could not believe the arrogance, the rudeness, and the lack of respect as a female shopper. Will never set foot in there again. read more

I have been shopping with European Jewellery for 10+ years. They have a great selection of beautifully unique items. I have made several purchases from this store, as well as I have taken a pair of earrings here for repairs and had a charms soldered onto a bracelet. I found repair items to be very reasonably priced. I have always found the staff very professional, patient, pleasant and informative. I am not an impulsive purchaser, so I will visit the store several times and try on an item before spending a large amount of money on a particular piece. I guess this the way I prefer to research and confirm my purchases. Therefore, I have no experience with any down payment situation. I have yet to purchase a piece of jewelry that needed to be returned so I cannot comment on the return policy. I will continue to shop at this store. Bought a pair of earrings here. Lady gave me attitude and was rushing me. The $600 gold earrings I bought broke after only wearing them a few times. I brought them in for repairs to their Yorkdale location, and the lady told me they'd be ready on Wednesday. I went in on Wednesday and another lady told me that they weren't going to be ready until the next day and they would call me. Thursday and Friday go by, no call. Finally I call them and they say they're ready but now since I'm busy I won't be able to go in until after the weekend. And it's ridiculous that I have to go back at all because they're expensive and brand new earrings that literally just fell apart. Throughout all this, all they do is apologize. How about trying to make up for the fact that your people are completely incompetent. Also the lack of refunds is total BS. read more

I had a terrible experience with this place! They sold me a supposedly brand new Omega watch for over 4K. The watch had some marks on it and its movement was out of tolerance. Now, after a few months I am seeing air condensation inside the watch! I highly suspect that they sold me a used watch instead of a brand new one. As I am writing this comment here, I am communicating with Omega customer support to find a solution. No help from them! I advise never step inside that shop, let alone purchase from them. I regret that I ever bought anything here because now I have to deal with ridiculous printed credit notes that I never want to use. It took over an hour to exchange a necklace that broke. The man handling my exchange would ignore me and work silently on the computer for fifteen minute stretches. No apologies for the quality, no thank you for your service. Overall very rude. Update Dec 20 2014 - A further update with European J seeking me out and then disappointing me again! - After posting this review one of the managers of European Jewellery contacted me via Yelp PM and wanted to talk. They were pretty persistent in getting a time to speak, which showed they care. The person I spoke with was actually quite empathetic when I explained the situation. They said they would be sending me an apology in the mail. They even follow up to get my address. One month later I check in to see what happened as I still have received nothing in the mail. Not even response one week later. What a waste of time. I wish I did not have a credit to spend in this store. read more

I would not recommend this store - terrible customer service. I have visited the branch on a few occasions, only to be consistently met with staff that are rude and condescending. Whether browsing for wedding rings, or requesting the size of a watch band to be adjusted, staff are abrupt, unfriendly and behave as though you are simply wasting their time. It appears this store has changed ownership and so has the attitude and quality of customer services. They used to have another store at TD Center near my office. Their staff was friendly and efficient. They remember customer names and treat them fairly and delicately. I've bought a Longines watch, diamond earnings and a few small jewelry items from them, as well as have them fixed some of my jewelry, before this store was closed few years ago. I replaced battery of my watches every 2 years and so came back last week, to the remaining store at Eaton Center. They took my watch and told me to pay $54 plus tax. My jaw dropped of course as paying $22 like the TD store used to charge was considered expensive (although I would accept). Then on my enquiry she said the $20 something is additional charge for replacing the seal, as opening the watch will break the seal. I used watches for 20 years plus and heard for the first time this kind of logic to charge extra to a customer (a kind you think can fool only a kid). I agreed to pay anyway because first I don't have time to search for another place, I need my watch functional again, and second I doubt if I don't agree to the extra $20+, they may do something bad, like not sealing my watch properly. Mind you Longines is not water resistant. This whole $54 charge seems like a scheme, masked by the name of "seal" service that should be given for free. The store's staff gave an air of attitude as if they serve with only high end products and high end services. But you should watch and demand for proper explanation if you feel suspicious - don't let them fool you. I will not come back to this store. This incident gives me sign of warning that I cannot trust them. read more

they are charging me $10 to transfer a $150 deposit my fiance paid on his credit card earlier to day to my own credit card. (i want the points on my credit card for a honeymoon). the same day he made the deposit i bought his ring on my credit card that was $900 and at the time they didn't even tell me he put a deposit in the first place. not to mention my fiance paid over $13,000 for my engagement ring at their store and they still want to charge me $10 to transfer he $150 deposit he paid on his own ring so i can put the $150 on my own credit card that is a points card that i got specifically for this for our honeymoon. totally insulting plus Brian the manager at the yorkdale mall location will not give me the owner's name, mailing address or phone. i only have an email address. This review is for the location at Yorkdale mall as the vibe is totally different at the Eaton Center mall. Just had my Omega cleaned free of charge by Mark who was super ameable and clearly knew his stuff as we talked about my other Omega with a different mechanism. My wife deal with Tamsin and she was also quite a pleasure to deal with and full of good suggestions. I will be avoiding the Eaton Center location as it is completely inconvenient and go there instead... Even if I have to wade through throngs of hood rats that seem to be everywhere in this mall now. Can't get everything, but good service is worth dealing with the population there. read more

Terrible service at the Eaton Centre location. Went there yesterday with my wife and 2 kids (3 years old) with the intention of buying earrings and a pendant that my wife had scoped out earlier - worth approx. $1000. We left when one of the staff complained to us that the store wasn't a playground - because the two kids were running around in circles. There's a way to express any concerns - not in the rude and unhelpful tone that the person used. Of course, we walked out immediately. If staff can't learn to speak to their potential customers, the store doesn't deserve our business - or yours. read more

Stay away, if you value your watch do not come near this place. Service is poor and the technician is incompetent. I had a battery replaced for my Cartier watch this afternoon. Initially they said they could do it in half an hour. After returning in half an hour I found the watch taken apart and abandoned on the work station. The attendant gave some sad excuse about a "bank emergency" after which I spent the next hour watching them settle a lucrative deal with another customer. Once they satisfied the preferred customer, the technician proceeded to mangled and partially stripped three of the very fine screws at the back of the watch. Just simply an awful experience. After, the salesperson passed the item to the cashier, they claimed it was a higher price and that the tag was incorrect. However the Salesperson had checked the tag against the computer system as well. It doesn't make much sense to me. read more

I had visited the shop last Saturday afternoon with my fiancé and a gentleman named, Hapet, had been so very helpful to us with tips on how to select a wedding band for my fiancé. We had been a bit "clueless" and Hapet had explained which band width looked nicest on my fiancés long fingers, showed us some beautiful bands (gorgeous Tacori with unique designs) and although what we were looking at was out of our price range, Hapet still took the time to show us alternative options.
