Nothing negative about the store & shopping experience itself, but the bathrooms were horrendous. It was the dirtiest, most unsanitary restroom i'd ever been in. worse than bars, gas stations, etc. it looked like something out of a horror movie. almost all the toilets were stopped up with feces & urine. the toilet paper dispensers were hanging off the stalls so the rolls were just on the floor. the toilets were filthy. it was shocking. i know you don't go to Ollie's for a luxury restroom experience, but cleaning it up would be necessary. read more

My husband always tells me "you have to go to Ollie's" because he thinks they have everything. He's not wrong, but I'm not sure they have anything that I need and finding it will be a task. For me, shopping here requires a certain frame of mind and an open amount of time so that I can move slowly in the aisles. Ollie's is a huge space and it's full of boxes full of stuff - from food to seasonal patio, housewares, books, etc. (Want to know where to find Peeps after Easter? Give you one guess where!) Our primary purpose for stopping by was to look at their rugs. I'll admit, I didn't find anything but I was impressed with the selection - lots of styles, colors and sizes, including round. Compared to the Lowe's, Home Depot & Target, Ollie's has a huge selection and the prices are reasonable. Several 8x10 rugs are under $200/each. In the mood to shop, but for nothing in particular? I shop at Ollies in Lewisville, TX about once a month. This year since I had a coupon for 15% off and I had extra money I decided to shop for Christmas at Ollies. I have 3 grandkids, 7,9,13 - 2 girls one boy. I can always find things that they can do with their parents help. (Instead of sitting around on their laptops). They also had huge sidewalk chalk which all of them love! I spent $140 and that also included buying for my son-in-law! Other than buying something else for my daughter - I am done Christmas - already!!! I have also bought a rug for my living room when I lived in Maryland. They are awesome! read more

Kicked around in Ollie's on a rainy afternoon recently. I suppose it might be the 'thrill of the hunt' that draws folks into this huge discount store that reminds me of a more warehouse version of Big Lots. There is a wide variety of rotating merchandise. As for 'discount prices,' one would need to know what they typically pay at other shopping venues to decide if the Ollie's price is indeed a discount. I felt that some items were cheaper, and some more expensive than other shopping venues. Our experience was less than ideal due to a heavy amount of employees stocking the shelves and blocking the aisles. As with Big Lots, I am a bit cautious with food items and I would recommend checking expiration dates carefully. I don't think Ollie's is the place to go if you have a particular need, as the store is not guaranteed to have the particular item. Ollie's is more of a venue in which to wander aimlessly and find things that you never knew you needed! read more

Quite a variety of goods but I thought I was a rat in a maze searching for a piece of cheese. The shelves were stocked so high and the aisles so narrow you had difficulty navigating. The store could have also benefitted by more signage as to the specific areas of the store (not that you could have seen them due to height of the the stock). Several of the most popular aisles were blocked with store employees stocking the shelves. Shouldn't this be done on 'off hours' or before/after closing????? I'm also not sure of the 'bargain value' for many of the items and suspicious of the expiration date of some of the foodstuffs and even the country of origin. We purchased a few home goods and did get a good deal on a box of swiffer wipes. There are some decent deals there but you will need time to rummage. read more

I have to first start this review with Ollie's is a DISCOUNT store, it is basically TJ Maxx/HomeGoods/Big Lots rolled into 1 warehouse. With that in mind, this is not a store you go to pick up the same item every week as its a rotating deal/overstock store BUT they have some crazy good deals and I happen to find something that I "need" every time I go. The post holiday purge is probably the busiest time for the store as you can get dirt cheap trees/lights/decor/candy but I like to peruse it on a lazy weekend since you never know what you will find. The only thing I purposefully go there for dishwasher tabs because 80 packs + the bonus 20 of cascade platinum will run you 29/on Amazon or 16.99 for a 32 pack at Target and usually is 12-15 at Ollie's -STEAL! When you walk in the store you are immediately greeted with the food sections- here you can find some good high quality spices, like the Organic McCormick blends, as well as gobs of Holiday candy. I've purchased both as well as snack packs of PB crackers for road trips. They have signs up around the food section noting that they do not intend to sell expired stuff so if you notice something expired please let them know. I've never had this issue as most things I've purchased still have a use by date of 1 year out but I do know some of my friends have reported stale candy. Take that for what you will but I have no intention on buying Halloween candy in February - but that's just me. As you make your way around the store you can find discounted books, stationary, toys, cooking and serving ware, cleaning supplies, decor and a small electronics section. Pro tip - if you're hosting a NYE party you can find glass champagne flutes at cost (6/$6.00) and save big! Same for Derby/Cinco De Mayo, etc. They also have a free membership program called "Ollie's Army" that sends special discounts in the mail throughout the year and you earn one point for every dollar spent. Once you reach 250 points you receive a 10% certificate. The only draw back is the snails pace checkout and "need assistance" process. The staff are always nice and courteous but they are in no hurry! read more

Disclaimer: I'm a lover or bargains and discounts, and I had a great first experience here! Ollie's is impressive in size and the amount/varies of stock they have. I was on the hunt for a clothes steamer since the irons in the hotel (every hotel I've ever stayed at for that matter) were dirty and the ironing boards are just horrid! To my surprise they had a really nice clothes steamer that was $30 less than the lowest price online! They carry an impressive amount of household goods/tools,books,toys,car accessories,etc. My only gripe is their electronic section is pretty bad in my opinion. I'm probably biased due to the industry I work in but it seemed like it almost would be better if they didn't have that section at all. I definitely recommend this place if you're on the hunt for anything but electronics. The service was on par with similar stores and the staff was very nice and courteous. read more

Worst customer service east of the Mississippi, the cashier I had was extremely rude and used profanity. If I'm not mistaking her name was Rachel. The computer system is slower than a sloth as well. Would highly recommend going just about anywhere else. read more

Ollie's wasn't quite what I was expecting. It's definitely one of those stores where you should not go into it looking for something specific. It's more of place where you're likely to find a hidden treasure or probably something you didn't think you needed but now can't live without. Lol! I did go right before Christmas so I'm pretty sure that's why the store was a bit of a mess. I found a great deal on some Clorox dishwasher pods, tissue paper and a huge tub of cheese balls for my office. I'm actually looking forward to going back after the holidays are over to scout the store again. They had a huge selection of books, rugs, random food products, DVDs, electronics, and many other miscellaneous products. read more

It was a night like any other. After another long day of work on a Saturday it was time to run a few errands but not before stopping by Ollie's. Amy B. and I have been here before but it had been a few months and we were interested to see their new inventory. Ollie's is a discount bargain store and their inventory changes often. That's part of the appeal for us. We can come back often and see something new every time. As soon as we enter we head to the right towards the books. Based on your preferences for reading material you may find a wide selection of books available or you may not find any to suit your fancy. Not all books are truly discounted (some are at or near full retail price) but you are bound to find some titles that are a good bargain. We continue to make our way through the isles and scan through the various items for sale. From kitchenware and home supplies to rugs, clothes and electronics there is a little bit of everything here. From name brands to off name brands the overall quality of the items is decent and as expected. One of the things I enjoy most about Ollie's is the "as seen on TV" items that are scattered throughout the store. I don't recall seeing a section dedicated to these types of items but I felt I was on a scavenger hunt because I'm a sucker for those things. Seriously..... how many people where amazed the first time they saw a Sham Wow, Turbo cooker, mighty putty, magic bullet or any other item marketed with horrible acting? Anyone remember the Ginsu knife? Now thats going back a few years! The staff have always been nice and appear genuine when they ask if you need any help. However, during this visit, after finding a few items we checkout and the lady that checked us out didn't seem as.... nice as the other staff. But she was, at the least, professional and checked us out. But maybe it was due to the time of day.... it was almost closing time. Anywhooo... After making our way to the parking lot we noticed storm clouds moving in. We jumped into the truck, I turned the key.....and the truck did not start. :( After several futile attempts of turning the key, expecting a miracle. ... the truck did not start. It was time to call a tow.... ("wrecker" for the country folks - yup, I'm a yankee) As I sat in my truck, waiting for a tow, I then realized that I will need to take all of my gear out of my truck and transfer it to a new vehicle. I needed a bag or something to hold my gear. "Now where would I find a bag?", I thought to myself..... Duh! I walk back into Ollie's and I head towards the back of the store. Near the floor rugs and clothing there were wall racks with luggage, backpacks and bags. Score! I found a Mossy Oak duffel/travel bag, that usually retails for ~$50-60, for $32! I work in construction and I needed a heavy duty bag for my gear. Finding a Mossy Oak bag for this amount was a god send. Sure enough, as I was walking back to the checkout isle, I got some of those, "Weren't you just here?" looks. I take my new bag to my truck and load up some essential tools and gear.... Holy crap this bag carries a lot! Just as I was done loading my gear it starts to rain. Rather, it starts to storm and I'm greeted with a deluge. Fortunate for the grass and trees, rain. Unfortunate for me, no AC. I quickly realized it was cooler to wait outside, under an awning, than inside the truck. The folks at Ollie's were kind enough to leave me be and not bug the creepy dude just standing outside their entrance with a bag full of "who knows what"! I ended up waiting about 2 hours for the tow but I was getting very hungry..... lucky for me there is a restaurant nearby. I got some food and came back to my waiting spot.... the kind people still didn't bother me with my bag of "what the what" and Chinese food. They have a ton of stuff. Not much of it seemed High Quality but the prices were pretty good. They had some Walmart quality furniture and jeans and stuff. I was most excited about the amount of flower pots/planters for good prices and they had all the usual gardening equipment as well. I found some cute books for my nephews, and was pleased with the entire book section. Plenty of rugs, and you can even buy rolls of carpeting. Im going back soon to get some $7 sheets for the guest room. read more

Good prices on things like kitchen utensils and other items. I've never purchased food or beauty supplies. However, the cashiers are the slowest I have ever experienced. They are easily distracted and in no rush to get to the next customer. They are friendly, but don't shop there if you are in a rush. read more

Lots of random stuff. Crowded. Chemical smells from off-gassing rugs, fertilizer, garden pesticides, etc was overpowering - had to go outside. Disturbing that things like fertilizer and chemicals were on the aisle next to toys and food. I wouldn't bring a child into the store until the chemical odor clears up - maybe it's a temporary thing? read more

I told the cashier I was in a hurry, as I was trying to get on the road before 8:00. I had run in to quickly pick up a bargain box if K-cup coffee, which was marked as $9.99. It was Hostess brand K-cups of coffee and hot chocolate. I stood in line, where the cashier was moving very slowly to ring up a guy in front of me, and waited patiently for my turn. Finally, after ringing the man up at an almost ridiculously slow rate of speed and the next register over taking the people behind me in line, I was called up to the register. As soon as I sat down the box of coffee, the clerk gave me a hateful look and peeled the price sticker off the box. She inspected it, passing nasty glanes at me the entire time and inspecting every inch of me, then informed me that she did not believe the price on the tag and would need to get a price check. I told her I was in a hurry and that she could check the weekly ad, as it was listed in there on the back page, but she continued to page the girl on the floor to check the price. I had to stand there for nearly 20 minutes waiting on the person to radio the price to her, tying up the long line in the process. Finally, the girl came to the front with three boxes of the coffee to back up the fact that the item was actually $9.99. She was then very unfriendly and curt toward me as she rang me up. Slowly, I might add. It took me over 30 minutes to "make a quick stop" at this store, and I wound up missing the pharmacy where I needed to pick up my grandmother's prescription. Ridiculous. The cashiers here need to be retrained on acts of discrimination and speed. read more
